As a scholar doing research on Ramayana, Valmiki ramayana is indeed accepted as the original or the earliest written version. And it has Sita being asked to undergo the Agni pareeksha or fire test. How this fire test is done varies on several accounts, in some versions it's only symbolical, while in others, before Sita jumps into fire she's saved by the fire god, and in others, the Sita that jumps into the fire is an illusion to trick the onlookers so they won't doubt her chastity. I know several academics who see the later versions as simply, well, fanfictions. Still there are many who see each of these versions as authentic as well and I'm one such person.

In Valmiki Ramayana Sita actually chides Rama for asking her to undergo the chastity test. This part is absent in most other versions and that's probably because it doesn't fit into the obedient wife figure that Sita is often glorified as.

Uttara Kanda is the last part of Ramayana that shows Rama abandoning his pregnant wife and this part is considered by most researchers as later additions to the original.

I'm not very sure about the versions in other countries, but in Sri Lanka it is Ravana(the demon who kidnapped Sita) who is worshipped and Rama is essentially a negative character here. In south east Asia, the story is mixed with Buddhism and main characters even have different names.

In India, the mainstream Ramayana accepts both Agni pareeksha and Uttara Kanda, and this has been reiterated by all the serials and movies that are made about Ramayana. So it's safe to say all of this is now part of Ramayana.

There are about 300 versions of Ramayana in existence(although some consider it an underestimation), and it spread across India and Asia over a period of 2,500 years or more. I usually consider all this versions as a tool to understand about how a society of that particular place and era functions. In all the versions that I read, even in the minor ones that don't mention Agni pareeksha, Sita's chastity is given a lot of focus. And this lays bare the misogyny present in Hindu society.

As feminists what we need to understand is that most societies were created on the subordination of women and that all religions were tools that evolved at a later time to legitimize this oppression. If we don't understand this, we will be stuck comparing the purity of religions.
