It’s Fantastic
Most of the team is hanging out in the common room, everyone doing their own thing. The silence of the room is interrupted when you look up from your phone, calling everyone’s attention.
“Hey guys? Do we have any plans tomorrow night?”
The question is clearly directed towards one of the older players, as you and the younger players have made it clear that you would not be memorizing schedules.
Alex scrolls through something in her phone for a few seconds before looking up and responding.
“Practice until 6, dinner at 7. After that, we have the rest of the night off. Why?”
“That’s literally perfect! There’s a movie theater not too far from here, can we please, please, please all go see the new Barbie movie?!?” you’re not ashamed to admit that you may be begging slightly.
The others chuckle at your enthusiasm, but all exchange glances. There really wasn’t a good reason that they couldn’t see the move. And judging by the looks on everyone’s face, you weren’t the only one who wanted to go see it.
“Tell you what, Y/N,” Pinoe levels you with a look, “if you can convince Vlatko to let us all go, we’re in.”
“Easy,” you say with full (false) confidence. “He can’t say no to me. Plus, I already rented out a theater.”
—-
It turns out, Vlatko has no problem saying no to you. But, again, you’re not above begging. You beg and plead, until he finally gives in. Honestly, it’s probably so he doesn’t have to listen to you anymore.
Your team was in, Coach had approved it, now you just needed to make it exciting.
—-
“It’s Lucy and Kiera, and Georgia and Le-“ you sing, skipping into the England common room. “Hmmm, I guess that song doesn’t really work anymore. And I didn’t even get to the bridge about Beth and Vivi.”
The England team is somewhat startled by the American who came singing an obnoxious theme song. You had made the song up almost four years ago, after you had signed for Arsenal. At freshly 14, in a new country and away from your family, some of the Arsenal girls had taken you in.
When they realized that going to camp meant leaving you behind, Leah worked some magic and managed to sort it out so that you could go and practice with the team. You clicked with the team instantly, becoming the annoying little sister that they couldn’t help but love.
“Anyway, mates,” you start. Leaning over to Georgia, you whisper to ask, “did I use that right?”
At her nod, you continue, “as I was saying, anyway, mates, I’ve come to extend an invitation for a once in a lifetime opportunity. It’s been called bigger than the World Cup. Who wants to go see the Barbie movie tomorrow night?”
You’re bouncing on your feet slightly as you speak, clearly excited.
Lucy lets out a small chuckle, “good luck convincing Sarina to let us skip recovery to watch a movie.”
You squint slightly at Lucy, somewhat questioning, “you seem to forget who convinced Sarina to let us have a Colin cake for dinner more than once. It’s on.”
“Meet in the US lobby at 7:45, and don’t forget to wear pink,” you shout over your shoulder as you rush out the door.
—-
Sarina agreed with very little convincing. You assured her that all of the girls were okay with starting recovery earlier so that they could go to the movie, and she couldn’t deny that team bonding is always a good idea.
She only had one stipulation, which you easily agreed to. After helping her pick out the appropriate pink outfit for her to wear the next night, you move on to your next project.
—-
You knock cheerily on the door a few times before swinging it open. Your face lights up as you see the two people you were looking for, and you rush towards them.
Rue and Katie pulled you in, hugging you tight. You hadn’t seen them in a long time, and you had missed the women who had watched out for you for so many years. Rue pressed kisses all over your face as Katie ruffled your hair. You pull away from them, giggling.
“Guys, I love you and I missed you like crazy, but that’s not why I’m here,” now, you turn to address the majority of the Ireland team that’s in the room. “I’m here to invite you all to come to a very exclusive cinema screening tomorrow evening. Meet at 7:45 in the US lobby and wear something pink. Don’t be late!”
You shout a quick bye to the two women before leaving the room, now onto your hopefully last task.
—-
“Oh, Sammy,” you say happily, trotting into the room where you found most of the Australian team.
You knew Sam from playing against her in London, but you had become even closer when she started dating Kristie. If she could be your possible future sister-in-law who’s not actually related to you in any way, you had to be best friends. If you asked Sam, though, she may say that she mainly tolerates you.
“Hi Ali, hi Sammy, hi rest of the team,” you rush out, “tomorrow night, 7:45, US lobby, wear pink, please come.”
You nod once, turning and waking out the door. The team sits in confusion for a second, scanning the others’ faces to see if anyone knows what you said.
—-
When dinner started at 7, you ate about two bites before trying to get out of your chair and clear your plate. You get about a dozen glares and a hand catches your wrist before you leave the table.
“I’m full, promise, I just gotta go. It’s almost time,” you protest.
The glares don’t lessen, though, so you slump back in your seat. You pout as you push the food around your plate, the others trying not to laugh as you through what is basically a temper tantrum.
“Y/N.”
Your full first name gets you looking sheepishly up at Alex.
“You don’t have to finish your whole dinner, but you do need to finish your vegetables. Then you can go get ready.”
You still squirm slightly, too excited to sit completely still. But you don’t make any move to bring your fork up to your mouth.
“You know,” Kelley starts in a way that makes it clear that you don’t actually know, “I bet Pressy and Tobs would love a call to hear about how the ‘golden child’ isn’t listening. I don’t think they’ll be asleep yet, how about we give them a call now?”
You stay silent, finally managing to still your body.
“It’s funny, I bet Tobin still has all the numbers of the Arsenal players. And I would also bet that she would not hesitate to call them and tell them the plans are off because someone couldn’t behave.”
She pulls her phone out, then hesitates, “that takes care of England and Ireland, but I’m not sure about Australia. I could have Kristie call Sam, or I could have Chris call Ali. Y/N, do you have any preference?” Kelley fixes you with a look.
Finally, you break, showing a bite of your dinner in your mouth. After chewing and swallowing, you look up.
“I’m sorry, please don’t cancel. I wasn’t trying to be bad, I’m just excited.”
The rest of dinner passes quickly, and soon it’s 7:30. You’re basically vibrating in the lobby, waiting for everyone to arrive. Soon enough, everyone’s arrived and the lobby is a sea of hot pink. With a giant smile on your face, you start leading everyone out of the hotel and over a couple of blocks to the movie theater.
“Was this planned?” Sam leans over to ask Kristie, “how did she have that outfit?”
You were wearing a fully pink outfit that would have made Barbie herself jealous. Meanwhile, the England girls were doling out their pink warm up gear after you insisted that you wouldn’t let anyone not wearing pink into the movie.
Kristie laughs, “no, that’s just how she dresses. Pink nails, pink dresses, sparkles, the whole deal. It’s easier not to question it.”
You were at the front of the group, talking to players you used to play with, players you currently play with, players you could only dream of playing with. There weren’t different countries, there weren’t rivals, there weren’t competitors. There were simply people following a girl dressed in far too much pink.

subtle hints (jackie groenen x muwfc!reader)
Tumblr media
surprisingly, an injury might just be the turning point you needed.
(ft. preath as team moms)
word count: 2697 ish
rated T for this is feeding into my massive jackie crush but oh well and F for fluffy babies
——
christen shook her head as she watched you and jackie from across the field.
you were laughing at something jackie said, completely missing the loving stare the midfielder gave you.
“she’s so oblivious isn’t she?”
christen nods at tobin, who then wraps her arms around her.
“if i were pinoe i would intervene, but i’m not, so i guess we’ll just have to see who does it first,” christen sighs.
“i’ll-“
“tobin no we’re not going to bet on people’s lives!”
“shh i wasn’t done talking. i’ll bet you a coffee date that it’s y/n.”
christen thought about it for a minute.
“are you kidding? it’s totally going to be jackie. you’re on.”
tobin and christen glanced back at the two of you, jackie letting out a squeal when you pick her up over your shoulder and run around.
the two watch in silence until tobin says:
“wait isn’t jackie a judo champion?”
~~
“yeah i’m just really grateful for this team, casey’s done a really good job bringing us-“
your interview is interrupted when jackie jumps onto your back.
you grunt at the impact and stumble a bit before maintaining your balance again.
“jacks im in an interview,” you mutter quietly.
jackie only gives the interviewer a charming smile before laying her chin on your head, mumbling back:
“so what? i can still scare you whenever i want.”
the way she said it made you just a little bit nervous.
it sounded almost, flirty.
your heart skipped a little at the prospect of that but you shook it off and gave the interviewer a smile.
“sorry what was the question again?”
you finished the interview a few minutes later with jackie still on your back.
“you gave me a heart attack earlier you know?”
jackie just giggled and said:
“oh i know, that was the point.”
you rolled your eyes and pretended to drop her, the midfielder letting out a yelp when you do so, but when you catch her again she slaps the back of your head.
“don’t do that you-“
“oh sorry did i give you a heart attack?”
jackie huffs in annoyance but still wraps her arms around your neck.
the two of you walked- well more like you walked back to the locker room, manchester united having just won their game against west ham.
the locker room was met with cheers, especially aimed at tobin and christen, who both got their first goals this game (and russo who had a brace).
all through casey’s locker room speech, jackie was next to you on the bench with her head on your shoulder.
your eyes met christen’s, who gave you a knowing smile but you just responded by tilting your head in confusion.
to add to your confusion, when tobin turned to christen, she saw the two of you gave you a teasing wink, with you just furrowing your eyebrows in response.
however, the second half of casey’s briefing was barely heard by you, because in jackie’s boredom she decided to start running her fingers up and down you leg.
yeah there’s no way you could focus on what casey was saying.
across the room tobin almost bursts out laughing.
“y/n looks like she’s about to combust.”
christen looks at you after tobin’s whisper and has to bite back a smile upon seeing your state.
luckily for you the second half of the briefing was fairly short, and when casey dismissed everyone, you shot up out of your seat, a blush crawling up your neck.
“are you okay?” a concerned jackie asked from beside you.
“no i’m fine just- just had to stretch my legs that’s all. they were falling asleep.”
jackie furrows her eyebrows a little but nods, accepting that response.
on your way back to the bus, jackie grabbed your hand and intertwined her fingers with yours, pulling you with her.
your cheeks flushed red at the act, but you followed her nonetheless.
she held your hand through the remainder of the trip all the way back to the apartment you shared with her, christen, and tobin, who gave you very pointed looks through it all.
tobin whispers to christen when she sees jackie give you a kiss on the cheek.
“y/n is so oblivious that i agree with you it’s going to be jackie. is it too late us to call off the bet?”
~~
you jumped up and down, nerves eating up at you in the locker room.
you were the last one left in the room, everyone else having walked out and began warming up.
it was the game against arsenal, one of the most hyped games of the FAWSL, one that would determine who would sit atop the league table.
and you were in your head.
you often had prematch nerves, but they got especially bad in big games.
you were worried.
what if you messed up?
what if you had the one chance and you blew it and then-
“you know everyone is outside right?”
a soft voice took you out of your thoughts and you spun around to see jackie, with an even softer smile plastered on her face.
your nerves were clearly visible, jackie let out a knowing sigh before adding:
“you’ll do great y/n. you’re one of the best forwards i know and you’ll kill it today okay?”
you gulp and nod, still jumping up and down, trying to shake off your nerves.
jackie watches you for a little bit before pulling you into a hug.
your jumping stops and your body softens immediately at the contact, releasing all the tension and stress you had up to that point.
the two of you stood silent for a while, your body sagging into hers, the midfielder’s hand tracing patterns onto your back.
when jackie pulls away a few moments later and looks at you with so much admiration in her eyes, it makes your heart stop in your chest for just a bit.
the two of you forget your surroundings, your hands falling to her waist while hers sat around your neck.
unbeknownst to you, you were glancing at jackie’s lips, and she noticed, a faint blush present on her cheeks.
then before anything could happen,
“hey what are you guys-oh.”
jackie turned and shot away from you so fast it was a wonder that she didn’t get whiplash from it.
tobin stood frozen in the doorway.
you were confused.
you stood there glancing back and forth between tobin and jackie, one frozen in the doorway (still) and the other sporting a bright red blush.
“what’s happening?”
no one answered your question, and the three of you stood in silence until tobin snapped out of her phase and muttered:
“fuck chris is going to kill me.”
and now you were even more confused.
“what? can someone tell me what’s happening?”
jackie cleared her throat before saying:
“nothing! let’s all get back to warmups now!”
with that said, jackie rushed out onto the pitch, leaving you and a very bothered tobin in the room.
you glanced at tobin in confusion once more, and followed jackie out of the room.
~~
it was tough, no doubt about it.
the game was deadlocked at 0-0 for the entirety of the first half, and everyone was getting a little frustrated at it.
after a brief halftime talk, the second half began and everything was fine until the 60th minute.
you get the ball via a short pass from jackie, and you were making a good run up the pitch before you saw her.
daan was chasing you and slid in, tackling you and knocking the ball away.
her tackle was unfortunately a little late.
you fell at an awkward angle, your ankle twisting slightly in the process as you go down with a pained cry.
jackie’s at your side in a flash, face full of worry.
seconds later christen and tobin run over, the former cradling your head as tobin calls for the medical team to take a look at you.
“it hurts,” you mutter quietly.
“oh i know i know everything will be fine okay?” christen said soothingly, gently stroking your head.
as the medical team arrive, they take one look at your ankle before giving you a diagnosis.
you would have to sit out.
for the next few weeks.
it was sprained.
fuck.
suddenly you hear a loud scream in dutch, looking up to see jackie face to face with daan.
the normally happy and smiley girl was livid now, screaming at the other dutch midfielder.
you saw christen nudge tobin to get up to try to console jackie, and viv and jill hopped in as well to calm the two dutch midfielders.
jackie still didn’t relent, screaming at the three of them now in addition to daan, mostly in dutch so tobin was left in a very confused state.
you had enough.
“help me up.”
christen furrowed her eyebrows.
“no, y/n you need to lie still you’ll hurt-“
“i said help me up.”
“y/n no.”
“if you don’t help me up i will figure out a way to get up by myself.”
christen sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose before relenting.
by now beth came to console daan, who seemed to calm down a little bit with the forward beside her.
you fight your way out of christen’s grasp and hobble over towards jackie, who at this point is still screaming, and place a hand on her shoulder.
she stops immediately and turns around to look at you.
“why are you up?! your ankle- you need to-“
“jack. calm down i’m okay.”
“no you’re not! you shouldn’t be up- you need to lie down you’ll hurt your ankle if you keep standing and-“
“jack. seriously. i’m okay.”
jackie nodded with a little bit of uncertainty, worry written all over her face.
“promise me something?”
“depends on what it is,” jackie said, narrowing her eyes suspiciously.
“promise me you won’t kill daan?”
“she went for your ankle! how can i-“
“promise me.”
“i promise i will try not to-“
“jack.”
“fine fine i promise.”
“okay good. i’m fine okay?”
jackie nodded, giving you a hug before trying to help you off the pitch.
“jack you still have a game to play,” you laugh.
“i don’t care i just want to help you-“
“i will call casey if you don’t let go of me.”
jackie gasps.
“you wouldn’t.”
“watch me.”
“i-“
“casey! one of your midfielders is running away!”
“you’re an asshole you know that?” jackie mutters.
you give her a cheeky grin before she whispers again:
“i’d punch you if you weren’t injured.”
“groenen!”
jackie’s head whips around when she gets called by casey, and she relents, letting you make your way off the pitch with the medics.
~~
christen gets subbed out in the 75th minute.
she comes in to check on you immediately.
“how’s the ankle?”
you let out a defeated sigh before saying:
“sprain. i’ll be out for the next month.”
christen wraps her arms around you to comfort you.
“did jackie kill daan?” you mumble, face covered by christen’s arm.
“no your girlfriend didn’t kill anyone.”
you blush a little at her words.
“she’s not my girlfriend,” you pout.
christen pulls back to look at you.
“yet.”
“chris!”
“i’m just saying!”
“jackie’s not my girlfriend. plus hypothetically speaking, even if i did like her she doesn’t even like me back.”
“you don’t know that!”
“yes i do i-“
“you won’t know if you don’t ask her.”
“i said hypothetically! i don’t like her! she’s just my best friend!”
“sure y/n, i mean tobin and i were best friends once.”
“that’s different.”
“is it though?”
upon seeing your silence, christen pulled back a little bit and gave you another hug.
both of you jump when you hear screaming and cheers outside, most likely from someone finally scoring a goal.
“i think we scored.”
“how do you know?”
christen blushed before saying, “i’m pretty sure i just heard tobin cheer.”
you fake a gag and christen gives you a little shove.
the two of you talk a bit about how you’re adjusting to manchester and about the us team.
the clicking of cleats on the ground is what makes the both of you look up.
“what’s-“
“hi jack.”
christen shot up out of her seat.
“i’m going to go look for tobin.”
the forward hurriedly rushed out of the room and now it was just the two of you in the room.
the midfielder walked a bit more until she was right in front of you.
“how’s the ankle?”
“oh just a sprain, don’t worry jack.”
“how long are you going to be out?”
“about a month.”
jackie lets out frustrated sigh and runs her hands through her ponytail.
“i should’ve broken her ankles-“
“jack!”
you try to stand up, before jackie shoves you back down.
“no. you’re going to hurt yourself. stop.”
you sigh and pout, looking up at the midfielder.
fuck she’s pretty.
“pouting won’t work y/n, even if it is cute.”
your cheeks flush hard at her words.
maybe christen was right?
maybe you did like her?
“hey.”
jackie’s voice snaps you out of your thoughts.
“what’s on your mind?”
you shake your head, whispering a quick “nothing” before glancing down at your bandaged ankle.
you let in a sharp intake of breath when jackie tilted your head up with her hand propped under your chin.
“no what’s the matter?”
you gulp, trying your best not to get lost in the midfielder’s strikingly blue eyes.
“i- i like you,” you blurt out suddenly, cheeks flushing red at your sudden confession.
jackie’s eyes widen a little in surprise but her grip under your chin never falters.
“i-“
jackie’s response gets cut off when tobin walks in.
“hey! how’s my favorite forward do-“
the older forward stops suddenly upon seeing the position the two of you are in, and backs away slowly.
both of you laugh at her reaction, before you turn to one another.
at this point jackie still hadn’t replied and you were getting a little nervous.
“i get it if you don’t want to be friends with me or something- i didn’t mean to make it weird and-“
you’re cut off by jackie’s laugh.
you furrow your eyebrows.
“and now you’re laughing? did i do something?”
jackie looked at you, eyes bright before saying:
“i’m just relieved. i’ve been flirting with you ever since you joined united dummy.”
“oh. oh.”
your cheeks are a little red, and you start to say:
“oh um i’m a little oblivious i guess? i’m-“
jackie cuts you off when she kisses you.
you gasp a little in surprise but kiss her back softly, pulling her down into your lap.
your hands fell to her waist, one of jackie’s arms draped over your shoulder.
tobin’s wolf whistle is what makes the two of you break away.
the two of you hear a slap and a “tobin!” and a “sorry!” before you turn to the doorway.
you blush when you see casey and the majority of the team (and some of the arsenal players) who came to check on you.
jackie suddenly realized the position she was in and shot up out of your lap, face painted scarlet.
thank god for you, casey didn’t comment on it, only briefing you a bit over your ankle.
however, your teammates weren’t as kind.
as soon as casey left the room cheers and whistles broke out.
“damn jackie!”
“that’s why you were trying to kill daan!”
“aw your girlfriend got injured!”
you and jackie stood blushing, but all and all you were met with lots of supportive teasing.
“hey who said it first?”
you blushed before muttering, “i did.”
“YES YOU OWE ME A COFFEE DATE CHRIS!”
christen lets out a sigh before mumbling:
“i shouldn’t have helped you y/n.”

Overprotective: Alphas Preath x Canadian omega reader
Tumblr media
A/N: I hope y’all enjoyed this! This was based on a lovely request for overprotective alphas Preath x reader. My requests are open so feel free! Ps. I triple checked, but please let me know if I misgendered Quinn at any point so I can fix it.
Y/N shook a little as she put on her red jersey. She was the newest call up for the Canadian National Team and of course her first start was against their bitter rivals, the USWNT.
“You okay little one?” Christine Sinclair asked, causing Tanc, and a number of the other veterans to look over in worry.
Y/N was able to fight off the urge to roll her eyes as a small smile appeared on her face. At 20 she was one of the younger players on the team which always leads to the veterans being protective, but it was a whole other thing that she also happened to be an omega who had not found her mates yet.
This meant that she was rarely left on her own, the older omegas and alphas alike on the team always ensuring that she had everything she needed, that she was comfortable and safe and that other alphas didn’t get too close to her.
“Yeah, just nervous.” Y/N said, leaning in to the woman who had basically became her Mom since she had joined the National Team. And Sinc was the first to find out that she was going to join the Portland Thorns after this year, planning to take her last few credits online as she was going to graduate a year or two earlier than expected. Which had of course made her even more maternal and protective.
“Don’t be nervous kid. You know we’ve got your back. Plus you’re one of the best players in the world right now. You’re going to crush it as always.” Tanc said, messing up her hair making Y/N pout.
The team laughed and Janine patted Y/N’s arm. “You got this kid.” Janine said pulling Y/N into a side hug, rubbing her back comfortingly for a few seconds before she got called away, pressing a quick kiss to Y/N’s cheek causing her to blush and pout about being babied constantly.
Jessie smiled at Y/N as she watched all of your other teammates bombard her. Y/N stuck her tongue out atJessie, knowing that she enjoyed the fact that they didn’t baby her quite as much anymore now that Y/N had joined the team.
Jessie just laughed, shrugging her shoulders, knowing that just like her, Y/N secretly enjoyed the older players doting on her.
Y/N lined up behind Quinn with Rhian behind her. Y/N started to tense up, her hands shaking. “Hey Y/N, what did the fish say when it hit the wall?” Quinn asked.
Y/N looked up at her friend, knowing what they were doing. Quinn has an uncanny ability of always knowing when Y/N was anxious and how to snap her out of it.
A slow smile creeped up on Y/N’s face as she looked at her friend. “I have no idea Quinn. What did it say?” Y/N asked.
“DAM!!!” Quinn screamed, starting to laugh obnoxiously. Making Y/N giggle at her friend’s dorkiness.
“There’s that smile. You got this Buddy.” Quinn grinned, grabbing their mascot’s small hand as the walkout music started to play. Y/N looked at her little mascot, her brown hair in a ponytail and a gap between her teeth.
The little girl beamed and took Y/N’s hand into hers. The little girl had to be 4 or 5. “You do good!!” The little girl squealed confidently making Y/N smile and laugh as she walked with her cute mascot onto the pitch.
Y/N’s nerves started to calm down as she was surrounded by her teammates in the huddle “I know we’ve got this game. I know everyone is counting us out but we have luck on our side because it’s baby duck’s first start today! They won’t know what hit them!! Tank cheered.
The team laughed at Y/N’s exaggerated pout at her nickname. Before long Y/N found herself in her place on the back line in front of Erin, who was also really protective of her little defender.
“Ready to crush your first start ducky?” Erin asked, making Y/N’s nerves disappear fully as she playfully glared at one of her favorite people.
“Well I know y’all have my back so I think so.” Y/N said sincerely and Erin grinned and ruffled her hair. “Show them what you’re made of kid!” Erin called as she took her place between the posts.
The ref blew the whistle and I focused on the game as USA kicked off.
It was nearly half time as Y/N was taken off her feet once again by a US player, this time it was Lindsay Horan. Erin helped Y/N up as Tanc and Sinc yelled at the ref for not calling the umpteenth foul that was committed against Y/N.
“They wouldn’t be going after you if you weren’t crushing it kid.” Erin said, clapping Y/N’s shoulder. It was only a few more minutes until the whistle was blown at halftime.
Coach tried his best to give his halftime pep talk as all of the veterans doted over Y/N, Janine and Sinc putting ice on her right ankle and left knee as Tanc ranted that “If my child is taken down one more time there will be hell to pay.”
Y/N couldn’t help but smile, though she’d never actually admit it she enjoyed her teammates babying her most of the time.
“Okay ladies, I heard Press and Heath are subbing in at the half. Mark them well and watch for Press’s speed and Heath’s ball skills. Okay we got this. Let’s go ladies!”
The team headed back out and warmed up for a few minutes before both teams lined up and Sinc kicked off the second half.
Right from the get go Y/N was amazed by Heath’s ball skills. She was able to contain the play with her speed, until she was clipped in her already sore ankle, going down with a temp of pain and a few tears slipping down her face.
She could hear the uproar as pretty much all of the team’s veterans were yelling at either the ref or the player who had gotten her in the ankle.
A soft hand touched her shoulder and she looked into the green eyes of the US striker and felt the mate bond settle into place.
Before Y/N could see much Heath jumped in and as Y/N met her eyes, she felt the mate bond too. Christen held her tightly as Tobin yelled for medics and proceeded to push Sam Mewis backwards with a snarl for hurting her mate.
“What the hell Tobin?!” Rose asked as she patted a shocked Sam’s shoulder. The Canadians stopped yelling, confused by Tobin going off on her own teammate.
“You hurt my mate, I hurt you.” Tobin growled, starting to throw herself at Sam. Everyone’s eyes widened as Pinoe caught Tobin, Quinn helping Megan hold Tobin back.
“Oh hell no!” Tanc and Sinc yelled as they stomped toward where Christen was a holding Y/N as she cried as the medics were moving her ankle.
“Get away from her!” Tanc yelled, letting out dominant pheromones, causing Y/N to cower a bit, her mega close to the surface because of the pain and finding her mates.
Christen glared at the Canadian veterans but did her best to remain calm for Y/N, releasing calming pheromones, which made the younger omega relax into her embrace more.
“Tons and I won’t hurt her Sinc. You know that.” Christen said.
Sinc sighed and nodded as Tobin came rushing back just as the trainers said “It looks like a sprain, we’re going to take you off, but you should be good in a few days to a week.” The make alpha said, going to help the omega up and to the sidelines. Christen and Tobin growled, Tobin carefully picking up their newfound mate and starting toward the sideline, Christen glaring at anyone who dare to come close.
Sinc, Tanc and Erin were loath to admit it, but they could all tell that the two American alphas were going to be good for their little ducky.
“Heath!!” Sinc yelled as Tobin and Christen made their way back to the field after making sure their mate was comfortable on the sideline.
Tobin turned toward her club captain as Christine smirked a little “Congrats but you hurt her, and they’ll never find the body.”
Tobin rolled her eyes but smiled, clapping her Canadian friend on the shoulder “You know we won’t but thanks for looking out for her.”
Sinc nodded as both the teams went to line up again, both Mewis and Heath being shown yellow cards.
Y/N watched the exchange and blushed when Christen winked at her after scoring a goal. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad having two more overprotective alphas in her life. Y/N thought with a smile.

McFiance (Sam x Reader)
Tumblr media
Requested by @hales548  : R is a basketball player (who is taller than Sam by a few inches). They are also teammates with Sue Bird on Team USA. The USWNT have a day off on the day of the gold medal match for the basketball team. Sam suggests that the team goes to support the women's basketball team during their game. Reader surprises Sam after receiving their medal by proposing in front of both their teams and the world. Lots of fluffy happy moments.
Author’s Note: First and Foremost Happy Birthday my dude! I hope you have an awesome Day!! @literaryhedgehog and I had a lot of fun writing this (and it gave us an idea for another one...) so i really hope you enjoy it!
“So are we just going to pretend that you didn’t drag us here to watch Mchottie shoot baskets?”
Sam almost missed Sonnett’s comment, watching as her girlfriend did a layup, her eyes following the ink that accentuated her bicep. and tricep. General arm area. God, her girlfriend’s arms were amazing. Delectable. Heaven‘s gift to her…? She didn’t care if that was overkill, the fact was her girlfriend had some beautiful arm muscles perfectly outlined by the tattoos Sam loved to trace with her fingers whenever she had the opportunity.
“Sonnett if you keep talking during the game you’ll miss something. I’m not explaining why someone’s doing a free throw if you miss the foul again.” Megan said, elbowing the blond defender and glaring in her direction. You had spent months planning this, and the blinds complaining wasn’t about to mess this up.
“You’re just pouting cause Mcsexie came off after the half,” Emily huffed, rubbing her arm.
“This isn’t a fucking Grey’s anatomy episode, every player doesn’t need a nickname with a mick,” Tobin laughed, shaking her head at Sam, who still hadn’t looked away from you. She was glad the tall blond had found love like she had found Christen. Sam lit up when she was around you and vice versa, you completed each other and made a hella cute couple (and took amazing couples photos helped by your 3 inches over Sam).
“And I would actually appreciate it if you didn’t nickname my fiance ‘Mcsexie.’” Megan said, offhandedly. “For starters it’s demeaning, but also, I mean come on. You know Sue and Y/n, you’ve met their teammates, you can’t just call them the stupid nicknames you give literally every other girl to annoy your girlfriend.”
“SWOOSH” several people in the crowd said interrupting the conversation. Emily jumped, not expecting
“Fuck yeah, that’s my Mchottie,” Sam yelled, standing from her seat as you got a 3 pointer in seconds before the buzzer went off. Then the ref blew their whistle and the two coaches ran across the court.
“Why can Sam call her Mchottie and I can’t?” Emily whined, missing the worried looks Megan was sending Sam’s way when you didn’t pop back up.
“Not the time babe, Y/n just got fouled,” Lindsey said softly, leaning close to her girlfriend so she could hear, placing a hand on the defender’s thigh to calm down her boisterousness slightly.
One of your teammates gave you a hand up and you stood in a group of your teammates, waiting to hear the call. You were pretty sure you knew what it was going to be, considering the defender had smacked you in the face as they tried to get the ball. You had still gotten the points, and fallen back just like you trained to do (so you didn’t accidentally foul your defender back) but they could have decided it was accidental. It probably was accidental- you did have several inches on the girl defending you. Still, it was unnecessary contact and you grinned as the ref beckoned you to take your place at the free-throw line.
“That was a world-class flop, I bet she took lessons from you, Pino,” Tobin snorted as you stepped up to the line.
“Nah, she got it from Sue. I do a bit more rolling to really get my point across,” Megan shrugged, popping a piece of popcorn into her mouth.
“She’s got the best stats in the league, there’s no way that she’s going to miss these,” Sam mumbled, more to herself than the rest of the group. You worked your ass off to be the best, spent hours taking shots from the line for moments just like that. You were the best for a reason, and now you just had to show it off.
Emily rolled her eyes. Your team was up by 16, so there was no way you were going to lose no matter what the outcome of these next three shots were (an opinion she thought better to not voice considering the death grip Sam had on her seat).
She looked around to see rows of people in the audience raising their hands in the air as you lined up to take your first shot.
“SWOOSH!”
*****
Your grin was blinding as you bent to accept your metal, your eyes glued to your girlfriend rather than the commissioner placing the gold around your neck. It was only now that you felt the butterflies bloom in your belly, fluttering excitedly. You had been dead calm about the game but terrified of what you had planned for after.
What if she said no? Everyone, you knew assured you she wouldn’t, but what if it was too soon? You had both talked about the future as though there would be one, and while you hadn’t specifically said ‘hey Sam, I want to marry you’ you were pretty sure she knew. Unless she didn’t.
“You better take a deep breath before you pass out kid,” Sue’s voice broke through your internal ramble, her warm hand on your shoulder grounding you back in reality. You blinked at the veteran’s kind eyes, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
“Good, now I think you’ll need this yeah?” She smiled, passing you the tiny ring box. You clutched it tightly, running your thumb over the velvet. Some people said it was corny, but you wanted everything to be perfect. To fulfill the dream your girlfriend had in her head since she was a little girl.
You took another deep breath, squaring your shoulders and swaggering over to the group of soccer players staring at you from the sidelines.
“Hey superstar,” You smiled, engulfing your girlfriend in a very sweaty hug, ignoring the gagging noises from the blond defender behind her.
“Hi goldie,” Sam said, giggling. “Or do you prefer just plain ‘winner’?”
“Hmm, you can call me anything you like baby,” You said, pulling back, suddenly feeling all the bravado and swagger you had on the court fill you. “as long as you let me call you my wife,” You finished, dropping to one knee and pulling out the ring.
“Oh my god,” Sam breathed, looking down at you.
You gulped, your mouth suddenly feeling very dry.“I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to do this, but I really fucking love you. You’re my first thought in the morning, and at night and like a billion times in between. Every time anything happens, you’re the one I want to tell.  I want to share everything with you. Every experience, every moment, every win, and every loss with you for the rest of my life. So, will you marry me?”
You blinked up at the woman in earnest, waiting with bated breath for her answer. Sam opened and closed her mouth a few times, and just as you thought she was going to respond, Emily gasped. “I thought it was supposed to be a ring pop?”
“Sonnet!” Megan and Sam said at the same time, both turning to glare at her
“What?” Emily said, “you always joked that diamond rings were overrated and that a ring pop...” going quiet at Lindsey’s “just shut up” look.
“Well,” you said, clearing your throat as you drew the attention back to yourself, “as you can see it’s not a ring pop. Or a diamond. It’s a very pretty green onyx ring that I would like to give my girlfriend/fiance…”
“Just shut up and kiss me,” Sam said, cutting off your rambling, grabbing the front of your jersey, and pulling you into a kiss.
“Is this a yes?” You mumbled against her lips, your neck bent at an awkward angle and unsure what to do with your hands considering you still had the open ring box in your left and you didn’t want to drop the ring.
“It’s a definitely,” she said, holding out her hand so you could slip the ring onto her finger.
“Cool,” you said, grinning as you took just long enough to get the ring on her finger before she pulled you into another kiss, her fingers tango long in the baby hairs at the back of your neck, and your hands firmly grabbing her hips.
You were so engrossed in your fiancé (and how great it felt to call her that) that you almost missed Emily asking “So like, they’re McFiances now right?”

Forever//Over. - Alex Morgan Imagine.
Tumblr media
This was requested by an anon:  Maybe some really angsts long distance relationship but with a fluffy ending.
I took a different approach with this prompt than what you’d probably expect, but I hope it’s angsty and enjoyable enough. I ran away with it and the over 6k words prove it. If it’s as angsty as it can be, I don’t know. You must want to ask @worms-and-jan She knows my angst-meter better than myself. But hey! It has a fluffy ending! Kinda.
I hope y’all enjoy!
***
You never believed that loving too much could hurt like this. You never longed for someone until air escaped your grasp and you weren’t able to breathe. And yet, here you are.
The darkness consumes you like a thousand questions you can’t answer. The walls of your room almost collapse over you and you need to get out of there. It doesn’t matter where as long as you’re not there: in the place that reminds you so fervently of the person you’re trying to forget.
The salty air of the beach helps you calm down; you breathe in and out but that doesn’t stop the deep ache in your chest. The music blares through your headphones; loud and yet unable to drown the cruel, mocking voice of your doubts.
The sky is dark, full of stars in the quiet autumn evening. And perhaps you’re not completely alone with the night sky watching over you even if the moon is missing. Even if she’s missing. You really want to believe it’s better this way, but it still hurts like hell.
You’ve called and texted her perhaps a thousand times since she disappeared from your life. And that’s the thing you can’t understand. How can the same person that proclaimed her love just turn her back on you like that? She was gone without a word or warning. It makes no sense no matter how much you think about it.
One day you’re enjoying life, trading kisses and “I love you”s while the world kept spinning. The faint light from the tv was the perfect halo for her beauty. The next day she’s gone. Your worry is met with silence and only a trail of media posts let you know she’s safe.
For so long you’ve believed that love shouldn’t hurt, and if it does, then it’s time to move on. That’s your plan now; put a sea between you while you try to forget.
Except you’ve never been good at that. You don’t fall in love often, but when you do then it’s the all or nothing kinda love. Sure, you’re willing and accepting of letting go when love dies, when the timing is right and when a relationship becomes full of bullshit. But here, everything is different and you’re not quite sure how to let go.
Hence why you’re at the beach; trying to figure out how you messed up, where things went wrong for Alex Morgan to stop loving you so abruptly.
Maybe, just maybe, this isn’t your fault at all.
That, however, would make her a fucking asshole. And that’s a tag you’re not ready to pin on her just yet. After all, you love her too much.
Still, there’s a party you must attend in less than an hour. You have a chance to be with the National Team, say your goodbye for the near future. And you gotta put the last period on a love story she can’t give you.
Next week your life starts in Europe; you have a club, a place and a dream to chase.
Sadly, there’s a missing piece in the puzzle you envisioned as your future. But her prolonged silence is a hint that you must reconstruct yourself and find another version of yourself. All in all, it’s better to move on now. Sure, the pain is there but won’t last forever.
Making the decision to leave wasn’t easy. You’re grateful for the chance the Pride gave you, but with the U.S. Soccer’s approval, you’re ready for a new horizon. There are plenty of challenges overseas that will help you discover a renewed version of yourself.
There are many things you leave behind, but ultimately, there’s nothing for you to stay.
This party is a chance to see your found family until next camp a few months away. Granted, you’re going to miss them terribly, especially Ash and Ali. They’ve practically taken you under their wing in Orlando. In camp you gravitate more towards Tobin and Lindsey as if they were all siblings.
The entire National Team is your family in one way or another. And it helps that some of them have experienced life in other countries before. They know that even with all the hardships of moving to another country; every moment playing soccer there is worth it.
This is an opportunity for growth. Now it’s your chance to discover more about you as an athlete and a human being.
It takes you another moment to collect yourself, to stop panic from overtaking you as you stare into Orlando’s beach one last time. This is the right decision, it has to be. Because right now your only plan is finding your future in Europe, and plan B is pretty much dying by Ashlyn’s hands if you don’t make it to the Harris-Krieger household in time.
The walk back home is quite enjoyable; the evening is warm and you’ve made peace with this, even if you’re not willing to put the blame on Alex. Sometimes things are just not meant to be no matter how hard you try to make them work.
What really works is your outfit as you make it to the party about an hour later. The music is already going, alcohol flowing and twenty three other women are causing havoc already. It’s twenty three because of course she would be there. After all, Alex Morgan is part of the National team.
Surprisingly, or maybe not, her presence hurts way more than her absence. It cements the truth you refused to believe; it’s not like she’s too busy to leave you aside, she just doesn’t care. It was far easier to question the darkness of your room than daring to do so when her eyes land on you.
In that moment you want to run away; turn on your heels and escape from all the pain and disappointment. Realization hits hard and deep, it makes your lungs burn all over again and you practically choke on the words you can’t throw at her face.
But this night isn’t about her. She isn’t the only person that matters in the world, not tonight. If she doesn’t care, you’ll pretend not to care either. You can do it for a night. You can do it for forever. Fake it till you make it, right?
“Damn, girl!” Ashlyn calls as she pulls you into a hug. “Looking fine.”
“Watch it, Harris. You’re a married woman now.”
“Excuse you, happily married.”
You nod at her statement because it couldn’t be truer. You’ve never seen a couple look at each other like that. You hope to have what they do one day. Even if it’s not with the person you thought for months. A mistake on your part, perhaps. Maybe one of many.
No. You’re not going to think about her anymore. She’s not going to ruin this night. There’s plenty of girls to keep you company, to laugh with and enjoy your last hours in the country. There are a million stories you haven’t heard yet. Hundreds of dog pictures to be exchanged like trading cards. You enjoy a drink, laugh and dance until you’ve almost forgotten her.
Almost.
Despite your best efforts, you can’t ignore the weight of her gaze for long. Just as you can’t ignore the way she keeps avoiding you even when you’re confined to the same place. You never considered Ash and Ali’s place to be extremely big, and yet Alex is never in the same room you are for long.
The sadness and hurt turn into anger then, and you wonder why the fuck she can’t speak her mind once and for all? She’s a coward.
Still, you’re too tired to keep chasing her, and instead stick by Lindsey and Rose. At least until Ash pulls you into the kitchen with a lame excuse of refilling drinks. That didn’t seem to be a problem thirty seconds ago, but you follow anyway.
You know Ash and Ali maybe as much as they know you. It’s only normal for her to do something like this every so often, either there’s some sort of gossip or a new cocktail you have to try. It’s no big deal.
“Okay, spill. What the fuck is going on with you?”
“What?” You parrot back, utterly confused. “What are you talking about?”
“Y/n, I know you. So don’t start that bullshit with me. You’ve been holed up at your place not talking to anyone since the end of the season. And I know this because everyone has been texting me, concerned that you’re not in a good place. I don’t know what happened between you and Alex, but...”
“Nothing happened!” You finally snap. “Nothing happened.”
Repeating the words doesn’t make them true, and the look on your face is one of defeat. You know it. Ash knows it. And so does Ali when she joins you at the kitchen with a worried look. This is not how things were supposed to go, but now you can’t really backtrack.
“I’m leaving,” you blurt out suddenly.
Except that you make no move towards the door. There’s no way you can drive like this; not when your hands are shaking and your vision is blurred by tears.
“I’ll take you home,” Ali offers; a hand resting on your shoulder.
“No, I...” You hesitate under her gaze, under her touch. It’s now or never, and it’s too soon to say goodbye but you have to start somewhere. “I’m leaving the Pride. I had some offers to play overseas, and I accepted. It’s a chance to start over, you know?”
“I’m going to kill a bitch, or break her legs.”
You gotta laugh at Ash’s words as you wipe the corners of your eyes. Of course she would understand more than you’re actually saying. Ali, well, she looks at her wife frowning in confusion.
“What are you talking about? Break whose legs?”
“There’s only one person that would make her want to lea-”
“No,” you interrupt, “listen. This was my decision, my choice, and only mine.”
“Yeah, sure.”
There are only three people in the entire world you cannot fool no matter how hard you try: Ashlyn Harris, Ali Krieger and Megan Rapinoe.
You’re starting to believe is some sort of superpower from the Lesbian Gods.
For a moment you try to hold eye contact with Pinoe but in the end, the woman quirks an eyebrow and you give up. In all honesty, you never had a chance to win here.
Fuck you, Artemis.
“Okay,” you relent. “She had something to do with it but...”
“What happened?”
The look in their eyes tells you that if you don’t tell them, there won’t be mercy for Alex. And yet, if you talk, you’re not sure if it’ll make things better or worse. There’s no escape from this situation; you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Ash, Ali and Pinoe are the three women you trust the most in the world. You’ve bottled your emotions over the last weeks and it obviously isn’t helping.
You can try. You can pretend. But you still find it hard to breathe. You still feel the world crashing over you while you scramble to find some answer among the rubble. They’re offering support in the best way they can; worried more about you than anything else.
“I...”
But it’s still hard to find your voice and put everything into words. They’ve never been your forte. If you’re searching for a clean slate, then it’s best to leave this behind.
“It’s a long story.”
By the end of it, you’re unable to look at any of them, and stare at the floor instead. There’s a moment of charged silence while their anger grows. You’ve cried enough already; the tears won’t come anymore, but even then your pain is there for them to see.
“Son of a bitch!” Ash yells, banging the counter in anger.
She’s angry with herself for not seeing this earlier, for not reaching out. It isn’t her fault. No matter how good she is detecting your bullshit, you’re good keeping secrets. She can’t see right through you when you don’t let her be close enough.
You would’ve been better at hiding this if it didn’t tear you apart as much as it did. It’s far easier to pretend when your heart isn’t broken. It’s easier to conceal anger under calm, and mask emptiness with a smile.
You never loved so deeply. You never hurt so harshly. It’s just like they say: there’s a first time for everything.
“I’m really going to kill her.”
“No, no. Ali, please.”
You hold her hand, pulling her into a hug she answers by tightening her hold on you. Ash and Pinoe join the love pile not too long after although you can see the tension lingering on their shoulders. You know they’re angry, but you won’t let them act on impulse.
“I don’t want a confrontation, okay? I...it won’t solve anything. Not anymore. I came here to have a good time, not to spend the night talking about her.”
“You need another drink then,” Pinoe says breaking the group hug.
In a matter of seconds there’s a full glass in your hand. The weight pressing down your chest has eased enough for you to breathe normally, for you to smile as bright as ever.
Who needs Alex Morgan when you have this incredible group of women?
“For an epic last night?”
You raise your glass for a toast, but instead of joining your cheer, they glare daggers behind you. Looking back is unnecessary to know who is standing behind you.
“What do you mean last night?”
Thankfully, she’s not the one talking, and you turn to face Kelley instead.
“Europe is calling, baby!” You exclaim cheerfully.
Intentional or not, your voice is loud enough for not just Kelley to hear. Every other girl in the next room hears too. Suddenly, all of them try to make their way into the kitchen; asking as many questions as they can while you try to answer them all.
They’re like an excited pack of puppies, walking you to the living room where anyone left out can join too.
Even among a sea of soccer players, her gaze cuts through it all. She follows you like a distant shadow, but you make your best to ignore her.
She has no right to stop you now. She has no right to act hurt when this is the aftermath of her actions. Everything has a consequence, and if she thought you would wait forever without an explanation, she’s wrong.
“When are you leaving?”
Her words are quiet but you hear them thunderous. They zap you as if they were lightning, and your eyes snap up to meet hers. It’s hard to describe what you see there, then again, you don’t try too hard to understand.
“Next week.”
Just like that, you move onto the next question as if your mind wasn’t troubled.
You laugh with the others showing none of the struggle you’ve gone through. You don’t tell them about the sleepless nights where you wondered what to do next, which direction to follow. You don’t say a word about your phone’s unlit screen and the hundred unanswered texts.
Somehow, when your eyes meet Alex’s again, she has the decency to look ashamed. She knows. She knows and still didn’t give a damn.
“You’re staying, right?” Ali asks once the party starts winding down.
“Until you kick me out.”
The woman huffs in mock annoyance before pinching your cheeks. If that’s the price to pay for her friendship, you’ll take it with only a tiny bit of whining. After all, you have to put up some kind of resistance even if your smile betrays you.
Half an hour later everyone is ready to leave; including Pinoe. She fetches her jacket while they all wait for their Lyft, Uber or whatever service they called.
Megan looks at you and then at the only other person sitting on the other side of the living room. A silent question being asked here:
Are you going to be alright?
You nod, getting to your feet for one last hug.
“I’m going to miss you,” you whisper.
“Why’s that? Phones don’t work over there or what?”
“You’re a fucking asshole.”
“Language,” she admonishes, earning her an eye roll. “Call me, text me and if it’s four am, I’ll respond once I actually wake up.”
“You are officially the worst. But I’ll do my best for you there.”
“Nah. You’ll do your best because that’s how you are. Take care, Y/n. Don’t make me go across the world to kick your butt. You know I will.”
“I promise nothing.”
With that, she’s gone and so are the rest of the girls with one exception. The one exception you don’t want to face. So, while Ash and Ali are getting the guest room ready, you decide to start the cleaning process.
Bypassing Alex, you make your way into the kitchen to load the dishwasher.
The sound of her footsteps is quiet, and yet too loud in the overall silence of the house. You’re between shocked and unsurprised. You wondered if staying behind had anything to do with you, but didn’t want to get your expectations too high.
She hasn’t talked to you in months, what makes this night special?
“You’re leaving.”
Right. That. That’s the big revelation of the night, but doesn’t really make a difference.
“Yes.”
With the dishwasher running, your next step is to gather all the trash scattered around the place. At least that was the plan. Alex has other ideas as she stands in front of you, effectively blocking the door. Sure, you can make your way around the kitchen isle, but you’re not feeling up to play stupid games.
“Why?” She asks.
Isn’t that the same thing you’ve asked yourself endless times? It absolutely is.
The whole thing is so ridiculous that you almost laugh. Except it’s not really funny. In a moment all the hurt turns into burning anger. It boils and swells, rises like the tide when the moon illuminates the sky.
You look at her and don’t recognize the woman you loved not so long ago.
“Why what, Alex?”
There’s a fierceness in your own eyes that is so unlike you. Sure, you’ve been angry before, who hasn’t? But never like this, never to the point of quiet rage.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
You laugh then; an empty sharp sound that is far away from being happy. It’s the irony of it all, the nerve of Alexandra Morgan to sputter those words acting confused and hurt.
“I fucking tried!” You shout, and once you start everything else comes pouring out. “Or did you forget about the texts you never bothered to answer? Or the calls? I tried to reach you so many times, in so many ways, and you made it clear you didn’t want me around. And I just don’t understand...”
“Y/n-”
“No, I’m not done yet, “You cut her. ”You left me, Alex. The last words you said to me were “I love you” and then you were gone. You’re a liar, playing with my feelings when I gave you everything I could. You were the one that kissed me for the first time, the one that asked me out, for what? For the thrill of having a stupid girl you could toy with?”
“Of course not!”
“Then answer your own question. Why?”
Here you are, having a conversation you didn’t plan to have but wanted. No, it’s not really going as you envisioned. Mostly because you pictured yourself crying your heart out and begging her to come back. You deserve better than that.
“I...I’ve never felt the way I do for you.”
You raise an eyebrow, motion for her to continue cuz that’s not going to cut it. Not after weeks of going radio silent even when you let her know there was something important to talk about. Not after nights where you doubted your own worth.
“I got scared.”
You look at her in disbelief. That’s her reason; the only one, for running away without looking back. And somehow, you what, have to take it in stride? Hell, no.
“That’s bullshit.”
You’ve never been so in love either. And it’s scary; opening up and showing every flaw and vulnerability while expecting to still be enough. It’s bound to be scary, to be overwhelming at times where you can’t believe life and love truly feel like that.
That’s love for you, at least.
It fills your body, carves your bones until you feel weak at the knees. But you grow stronger until the weight of the world falls from your shoulders, until gravity doesn’t affect you anymore and you swear you can fly.
Love shapes the world, makes you find little hints and signs everywhere. The world reminds you so strongly of them that you wonder how you didn’t see it before. It makes you feel invincible, like your life has reached that perfect pinnacle of serendipity.
And that’s just the beginning.
Loving someone shouldn’t hurt. It’s supposed to be a celebration to life and the victories; big or small, found through the days. Sometimes that means a world cup. Sometimes it means buying a house. Sometimes it’s just being able to survive the hardship and exhaustion of a long day.
Love is the backbone of support, it lifts you up when you can’t stand on your own. It’s the quiet whisper in the back of your head reminding you to breathe when your head is underwater. It’s the knowledge that yes, life is not a utopia, and there are battles you gotta face on your own, but that you’re not alone nor lonely.
It’s supposed to be scary; terrifying even. But it’s also supposed to be filled with joy, and wonder. A mix of awe and euphoria that settle into calm. Because in love you can be yourself; the one version of you that the rest of the world doesn’t get to see.
And all of those emotions should make it worth it.
“Do you think I wasn’t scared too?” You finally ask. “I know there’s a lot on the line for you. I knew the terms and conditions of dating you since the beginning. I agreed to keep it a secret until you were ready. If you needed time to figure it out, to come to terms with who and what you are, I would’ve understood. Listen, even if you weren’t ready for a relationship at all, I would have understood. But not like this.”
“Please, Y/n. I’m trying to make things right.”
“Alex,” you say tiredly, rubbing your eyes in the process. “It’s too late. I’m leaving.”
“Don’t go.”
You can say the desperation in her eyes, can hear it in her voice. Still, that’s not enough.
She had a chance, more than one if you’re being honest, to make you stay.
Instead, she’s one of the reasons you’re leaving.
You deserve more than fear or reluctance. You deserve dreams that come true, to find true happiness. You deserve someone that will talk to you when things don’t go as planned; not shut you out completely. You want someone that looks at you with that happy light in their eyes instead of leaving you in the darkness of uncertainty.
“Why does it matter?” You ask with a hint of frustration. “You’re the one that left me! You walked away from us without a word! And I’m not going to be the girl you play with while deciding to pull your head out of your ass or leave it there. I deserve to be happy too. And right now that means being away from you.”
“I’m sorry.”
You feel a rush of everything; anger, sadness, frustration and perhaps a hint of relief as well. It’s hard to decide if you want to slap some sense into her or cross the distance between you just to feel her arms around your waist again.
In the end, you simply shake your head.
“Yeah. Me too.”
“I wish there was a way to go back.”
“You can’t unbreak things. You can learn and do better.”
There’s nothing left to be said, not on your side. And for now, you don’t really care about what she has to say either.
You make your way upstairs to where Ash and Ali are waiting for you. It’s not hard to eavesdrop on an empty house, but they respect you enough to give you space. You’re not a kid; you know how to handle your own battles although the moral backup is always appreciated.
“You’re going to be okay?”
Ali looks deep into your eyes in concern, but her worry is met with a shy smile.
“Yeah, I think I will.”
For the first time in the last few weeks, you are able to breathe with nothing weighing on your chest. Closure is exactly what you needed. Facing her after the prolonged silence was perhaps one of the hardest things you had to do, but now the future seems a little brighter.
*****
Playing in one of the most competitive soccer leagues in the world is far from easy. Even the style seems different; play harder, faster and smarter. But you’ve done great, put your name up there among some of the best.
What some considered potential was polished into talent, although that had more to do with your discipline and hard work. Of course, the press wasn’t so kind as to enlighten that.
At the end of the season you have a championship and a new shining contract waiting for you. All it’s missing is your signature, but there are things to consider still. You miss home. You miss the crazy 23 women you call family.
Hopefully the upcoming USWNT camp will clear some of the doubts.
Maybe seeing them all again will give you the strength to extend your life in Europe. Maybe it’ll make you realize it’s time to go home.
There are many clubs interested in you which is not a surprise after everything you’ve done in a matter of months. Europe has catapulted you to another level, and it’s true there’s so much more to learn. Still, feeling homesick can be one hell of a bitch.
You could always move back to Orlando. Maybe you could move with Tobin in Portland. Tagging along Press with the Royals or go to Chicago for a change. The world is yours if you want it, and Heavens, you absolutely do.
“Why is something telling me you won’t come to stay?”
You glance at Pinoe on your screen while you finish packing. Sue and her are keeping you company as you get ready. Traveling always makes you anxious no matter if it’s just a couple of states over or halfway across the world.
“I haven’t decided yet.”
“Does this have to do with Morgan?”
“What!? No! I haven’t talked to her.”
“Maybe you should.”
You glare at your screen suspiciously because this is Pinoe of all people; telling you to talk to her. Megan Rapinoe; the woman that knows the ins and outs of your relationship and feelings for Alex. It doesn’t make sense unless something happened.
“Okay, fess up.”
“About what?”
The smug look on her face tells you that your mighty glare isn’t working.
Fuck you, Artemis. Again.
“Don’t worry, kid.” Sue intercedes with a gentle albeit playful smile. “You’ll get it soon enough.”
“Get what?”
They don’t answer your question and you don’t have much time to keep asking as they excuse themselves to end the call. Technically, it’s almost time for you to leave. However, their intentions are pretty clear. In the end, you groan in annoyance as they manage to dodge your question multiple times before the call disconnects. Alas, there’s nothing you can do.
It doesn’t take long until you’re on the airplane waiting to take off.
Your leg bounces nervously while you’re torn between looking out of the window or closing your eyes. It’s practically a miracle you decided to move so far, considering how much you hate flying. To be honest, the flight itself isn’t the problem.
Feeling the rumble of such a huge thing, it always makes you wonder how it can actually fly. You’ve seen documentaries and read articles but that fear comes every time you get into a plane. Besides turbulence, lift off is the worst part.
“You can hold my hand if you want.”
Your head snaps up towards the person standing next to you. Even now, after months since the last time you heard that voice. You would be able to recognize it from a million others. That doesn’t take away from the surprise of seeing her  there.
“What...” you start, trying to find your voice, “what are you doing here?”
“Taking a plane back home.”
“No, I mean-”
Her chuckle makes you realize she’s teasing. Partially, at least. She sits next to you, ready to go back to the USA. Which doesn’t really explain what she’s doing in the same country as you.
“Alex,” you try again, “why are you here?”
Your time away from her has been odd to say something.
You’ve missed her, she was your best friend even before things escalated into something else. She was the person you trusted the most before everything came tumbling down. And yet, over the last few months you’ve done your best to not think about her too much.
You limited your social media activity mostly to club related posts. Mostly accessed to catch up with some of your other friends, but being careful not to dwell on any of her posts. You scrolled past them in a hurry or got out of the app as soon as possible.
Unfollowing her would have been the smart choice, if you were someone else.
Being under the spotlight it’s great, but it also means everything you do is a clue for something. Unfollowing her would bring up more questions than you were, or still are, willing to answer. It was easier to pretend and move on.
“I got it out.”
Her words catch you by surprise and you shake your head trying to get back in the moment.
“What?”
It’s hard to make sense of any of it when she’s right there. Maybe it’s the shock of seeing her after so long. Maybe it’s hard to pay attention to her with the plane rapidly filling. It feels like you’re running out of time even when there’s nowhere else for you to be.
“You were right,” she says instead.
“Alex,” you warn, trying to get her to the point.
“I got my head out of my ass,” she finally answers with a half smile. However, her eyes remain serene, telling you she’s taking this seriously. “I was an idiot, and I’m sorry. Even then, when I discovered you were leaving, I could only think about myself. I can’t ask you to forgive me. We both know I don’t deserve it after everything I did to you. But you deserved an apology. That’s why I’m here.”
“You came all the way here for that?”
There’s more surprise in your voice than anything else. Sure, you appreciate the gesture but it seems a little overboard. Then again, you’re not sure of the result if she had called. Maybe you wouldn’t have picked the phone to begin with.
“I wanted you to know I mean it. I didn’t feel like words would be enough. Besides, I know how much you hate flying, so coming here just to go back, it’s worth it if it’s for you.”
Against all your common sense, you forgave her long ago. More for your own sake than hers, but all the anger and hurt are gone. The love you felt for her is not what it used to be, and neither is the trust. But in that moment, you’re glad she’s there.
Without saying a word, she offers you her hand.
This is something you’ve done several times, holding her hand during a flight, and you accept her offer just as the plane starts moving. If your grip is too tight, she doesn’t complain. She keeps her eyes on you; making sure you’re alright and damn those blue eyes.
“So, how did Pinoe know you were coming?”
“Did she tell you?”
“Not really,” you answer truthfully. “She said I should talk to you and that I would get it. You know her and Sue, they can be cryptic. Still, never expected to find you here.”
“Yeah, well...” She shies away from your gaze for a second but meets your eyes again. “Once you left I realized my mistake. I mean, I did before that. Guess it was easy to justify everything with fear. Then you weren’t there and the fear of losing you forever was bigger than the one of losing everything else.”
No, you’re not going to fall in love with her all over again. Not after you spent months getting over her. Even if she looks at you and you feel like she can see right into your soul.
“Alex, I can’t-”
“Hey,” she softly interrupts. “I’m not asking anything from you; I messed up. And like you said, I can’t unbreak things, I can only try to fix them.”
You can extend her an olive branch; a start. You’re not sure whether this is a good idea or not. It’s hard to tell where this is going to tell you. Still, you beg to the Lesbian Gods to guard your heart.
For now, you’re glad the 10+ hours journey back to America is not a lonely one.
*****
“Everything ready?”
You look over your shoulder to face some of your teammates.
You’ve decided to go for another year in Europe; extending your stay with the club you love while trying to win another chip and extra hardware.
“Almost.”
“I knew you wouldn’t stay,” Pinoe claims.
“But you sure wish I did.”
Her shrug confirms your suspicions because hell, you’re going to miss them too. It’s weird to be in a similar position as you were last year, and yet, everything feels different. You’re still at camp instead of sharing a wonderful evening at the Harris-Krieger household, but everyone that matters is there.
Last time it was a hundred percent your decision to leave although there were motivations besides soccer. This time your terms are different, you’re chasing a dream instead of running from a nightmare. You want to keep learning, growing and being the best you can be.
“You’ll come with me again?” You ask Alex teasingly.
“Not this time. But,” she pauses for dramatic effect. “I’ll be waiting for you when you get back.”
There’s some kind of promise there that you refuse to fully believe. It wouldn’t be the first time you get your hopes too high, or the one where you crash down in free fall with no parachute.
Camp has served you right, both of you. And maybe you stopped Ash from killing Alex when it was known you two would share a room, but things are...better.
“You can always visit.”
All eyes fall on you, trying to decide what is going on in your mind. To be honest? You’re not quite sure either. But you feel that pull towards Alex, daring you to allow her in.
You tell yourself this is a mistake. There’s absolutely nothing stopping her from doing something stupid, from leaving you hanging while you doubt yourself again. Everything could play out exactly like the last time, except something is different this time.
You’re not quite capable of explaining. You’re not gonna dive without testing the water either. So there’s another year overseas with some distance to keep your head clear. Whatever happens in that lapse, it’ll be the answer you need.
“Call me if you get homesick.”
“Except if it’s three am?” You ask with a sideways glance to Megan.
“Even if it’s three am,” Alex corrects. “Can’t promise I won’t fall asleep on you tho.”
“As if you didn’t do exactly that already.”
“Hey! At least I would pick up.”
“Fine. I’ll take it.”
There’s a small grin in your lips while you pack the last of your stuff.
You look at your friends and family one more time knowing they’ll be there when you come back. And looking at Alex you know there’s a chance home will be waiting for you.
“Okay. Let’s do this.”

Our Nerd [USWNT x Reader]
Tumblr media
requested by anon: Could you do one where the team teases the reader for breaking her glasses because she's known to be clumsy but the real reason they broke was because people were making fun of her for using glasses
warning: mention of bullying
Being a 17 year old high school junior on the US Women’s National Team meant that you were the designated baby of the team. Although you were a dominant and aggressive midfielder, off the field, you were more quiet and reserved. At national team camps, you spent a lot of your downtime holed up in your room studying and doing the school work you were missing.
Though your teammates obviously understood your academic obligations, they would often tease you about your nerdiness, especially when you went on a rant about that cool new fact you learned in your AP Biology class. It also didn’t help that you needed to wear glasses, only further adding to the stereotypical ‘nerd’ look. Despite wearing contacts majority of the time, you still wore your glasses whenever you needed to or whenever you were just feeling lazy.
—————
Having just arrived at the hotel from the airport, you walk into the team meeting.
“Hey! Look who finally showed up!” Pinoe yelled from the front of the room. The entire team turned to look at you, as you were the last one to get to camp. There were many coos from the vets, particularly your designated team moms, Alex and Kelly, and cheers from the youngsters. You hang your head, embarrassed by the overwhelming attention, and go take a seat next to Sonnett.
Once the meeting ended and roommates were announced, you head up to your room. This camp, you are rooming with Alex, which you sighed in relief, as finals were coming up, and you needed to study without distraction.
After unpacking and settling into the room, Alex pulls you into a hug, finally properly greeting you.
“Hey, bub.” She rubs your back, soothing your built up tension and stress.
You bury your face in her neck, breathing in her comforting scent, and mumble out a ‘hi.’
Pulling away, Alex brushes the hair out of your face. “You doing okay?” You furrow your eyebrows, mentally debating on whether to tell her about what’s really bothering you.
“Yeah, I’m good.” You plaster on a small smile. “I’m just a little stressed about my finals coming up.”
Alex nodded, knowing how seriously you took your classes and how important these upcoming tests were for you. She had also just recently discovered the difficulty of your schedule, as you were taking six AP classes and one honors class, in addition to the stress of college and soccer recruitment, Alex understood the pressure weighing on your shoulders.
“Just let me know if you need anything, okay? And I mean anything.” Alex hums, squeezing your cheek. You laugh at the forward’s overprotective antics.
“Of course, Al.”
—————
For what felt like the hundredth time, you stumbled over your own two feet, as you were sprinting down the field. Only three minutes prior, you had tripped over the ball, trying to pass Becky.
Julie comes up behind you, lifting you up from your armpits. Doting over you, the blonde brushes the grass off of your shirt and straightens out your hair. She places a wet kiss on your cheek, as Vlatko blows the whistle, signaling the end of practice.
“C’mon, kid. Let’s get you cleaned up.”
“I’m not even that dirty.” You grumble, wiping your face.
As the team was getting ready to board the bus, Kelley wraps her arm around your shoulder, kissing the side of your head.
“Hey, bub.” Only Alex and Kelley were allowed to call you that, as it was a shortened version of your nickname the two women had come up with, ‘bubble,’ which poked fun at your age, innocence, and the fact that you were the baby of the team.
“Hey, Kel.” You lean your head into her chest.
“You feeling okay? Took a lot of falls today.” She smirks, trying not to over-tease you about your clumsiness, which she’s done in the past.
Emily, overhearing her fellow frat daddy, interjects in your conversation.
“You’d think that (Y/N) wouldn’t be as clumsy as she is, considering she’s a world-class midfielder.” The blonde defender laughs, as your cheeks flush, and you further hide yourself in Kelley’s chest. Your clumsiness had been at the end of the many of the team’s jokes, as you often fell over things, tripped on your own feet, and broken many of your belongings.
While on the bus, many of your other teammates had poked at you, playfully making fun of the many times you had fallen today in practice. Although you knew the women weren’t trying to insult you, you couldn’t help but feel hurt at their jokes, as you’d gotten enough teasing and bullying at your school back home. Not wanting to say anything at first, you laughed along with their teasing, but as they continued throughout the bus ride, you decided to drown yourself in music and stare out the window.
—————
That night, despite your many protests, the entire team packed into yours and Alex’s room for team bonding. While the other women were debating over what movie to watch, you were sitting at the desk, trying to concentrate on the set of calculus problems that sat in front of you.
“(Y/N/N)!” Tobin yells, grabbing attention. You push your glasses up the bridge of your nose, looking over at the forward. “What do you think, kiddo? Ocean’s 8, She’s the Man, or Bend it Like Beckham?” She holds up the three options, shaking the last one, her head nodding to it, signaling that that was her first choice. You smirk at Tobin’s childish actions. But before you could give your preference, Ashlyn, who is sitting the closest to you, interrupts.
“Hold up, kid.” She leans sits up, leaning closer to inspect your face. “What happened to your glasses?”
The conversation dies down in the room, as the rest of your teammates are curious as to what the goalie was asking about. Upon having all their eyes on you, you duck your head, attempting to hide your broken and crooked glasses. But unfortunately for you, Ali was on the other side of you and noticed the cracks in your glasses and the bend of your frames.
“They’re broken.” Ali reveals to the rest of the women.
“Did you sit on them or something?” Megan barks out, while Alex slaps her on the shoulder.
“Or like fall and drop them?” Emily adds on, causing the youngsters to laugh along with her.
Frustrated, annoyed, sad, and embarrassed, you grumble out a ‘no’ and turn back to your homework. Noticing your change in demeanor, Alex gets up to sit on the bed behind you, turning the chair so you’re now facing her.
“Bub, what happened to your glasses?” She takes your hands, rubbing comforting circles on your palms.
“Nothing.” You mutter. By now, Kelley had moved to kneel in front of you, along with the rest of the team crowding around you.
“Hey.” Alex lifts your chin to meet her eyes. “Remember when I said you come to me for anything?” You nod, feeling tears building up. “So tell us what’s bothering you.” She encourages.
Scanning around the room, you see your teammates, who have become like your second family, worriedly looking at you, wanting to help.
You take a deep breath, preparing yourself to reveal what’s been going on in your life for the past couple of months.
“These kids at school make fun of me for being a nerd.” You feel Alex pause in her actions, shocked at your words. You look down at your intertwined hands, wanting her to continue, before you keep going. “At first, it was just because of how I actually enjoyed going to class and doing my work, but then as I started wearing my glasses more often at school, they started to make fun of them. They call me names, and say that I’m too much of a nerd to be on the national team.” By now you had tears pooled in you eyes, as you remember your last encounter with the bullies at your school.
“Before I came to camp, I had to talk to my teachers about getting all the work I’d be missing. Some of the other kids confronted me, taunting me and saying I shouldn’t be getting an extension and that I didn’t deserve special treatment. They shoved my books out of my hands and grabbed my glasses off my face and stepped on them.” You finished.
After you finished your story, the entire USWNT was speechless, shocked that anybody could ever treat you like that. Feeling uncomfortable in the silence and with everybody still watching you, you speak up.
“Yeah, so that’s how I broke my glasses, no big deal.” You try to play it off, pulling your hands out of Alex’s and turning back to your school work. Kelley stops you, pushing your knees so that your back facing the team.
“(Y/N), that is a big deal. Those kids shouldn’t be treating you like that.” The rest of the woman nod in agreement. Alex reaches to grab your hands once again.
“Why didn’t you tell us?”
You shrug. “I dunno. I didn’t wanna make a big deal out of it. And it’s not like they’re wrong.” You whisper the last part, your insecurity peeking through. The team’s hearts ache, as their youngest member confides in them.
“Kid, you’re one of the best midfielders in the world right now.” Ash soothes, many of the other women voicing their opinions as well.
“Yeah! They don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.” You hear Kelley add.
Emily laughs. “Ha! Those kids are probably just some airheads with no future, whereas you’re about to win an Olympic gold medal.” You laugh at the bluntness of your best friend. Alex pulls you into her lap, hugging you from behind, as she presses a kiss to your shoulder.
“We love you just the way you are, bub, and nothing’s gonna change that.”
“And we’re also sorry if our teasing earlier had hurt your feelings.” Tobin adds, as the team had gathered around, squishing you in a giant group hug. You snuggle into Alex’s warmth, reveling in the comfort of your teammates.
“I love you guys.”
“We love you, too.” Christen whispers.
“You’re our nerd!” Kelley beams, making you giggle.
“Yeah! No one makes fun of our nerd! Only we can do that.” Pinoe adds, causing an uproar of laughter amongst the team.
As you sit in Alex’s lap, surrounded by your favorite people in the world, wearing your broken glasses, your heart swells, and you smile contently, grateful to have these women in your life as your second family.

Big surprise~USWNT x Baby reader
Tumblr media
Prompt: Team finds out baby r is dating a famous person via instagram live.
Requested by: @khiaraaa-in-spacee
Y/N PRO
Being a professional soccer player and playing in both the NWSL for the Orlando Pride and at the national level for the USWNT at the age of 18 is a great honor and privilege, I got to play the sport I loved nearly everyday and I was able to make a living from it, but it can be exhausting at times. Which is why I’m glad that we have a few weeks off before I have to report to the next national camp for our next set of friendlies. I live in LA with my girlfriend Billie Eilish and being able to spend some quality time with her after months of being on the go is great. The only drawback is that the team has no idea I’m dating someone famous, I have kept that part of my life private, It’s not that I don’t trust them, I do; they’re like sisters to me and the older players even sometimes act as parental figures, but Billie and I agreed to keep our relationship as private as possible and agreed that when the time was right, she would meet the girls.
Speaking of Billie she and her brother Finneas were working on some music in the little studio like set up she created in our basement so I decided to bring them a snack.
“Hey babe, I thought I’d bring you guys a snack since you’ve been working so hard.” I said, handing her the bowl of berries, and handing Finneas a bowl of popcorn.
“Aw, thank you baby. That was very sweet of you.”
“How’s the song writing going?”
“Slow but we’re making progress.” Finneas said
“Good to hear.”
I spent some time with them looking at what they had written out so far and listening to some of the beats they thought of using before excusing myself to go do an instagram live. Even though I was technically on vacation I made sure to still engage with fans and I looked forward to the weekly lives. I had previously sent out a tweet and posted on my instagram story that I would be on live soon so I knew a substantial amount of people including some of my teammates were bound to be on fairly quickly.
“Hey guys! How’s everyone doing today?”
I watched as the comment section was flooded with people telling me how they were or sending in heart and heart eye emojis.
“I’m doing great, can you say happy birthday Abigail?” I said under my breath.
“So glad to hear it! Happy birthday Abigail!” I said
I continued to read the comments as they came in, squinting as I did so and laughed when I saw a familiar name pop up.
“Hey Alex, no I’m not blind. I’m squinting because the font is small.”
She sent several laughing emoji’s in return.
“Hey Pinoe, Jess, Abby, Julie, Moe, Christen, Tobs, Tierna, Mal, Sam, Emily and Rose.” I said, out of breath after reading all their names off in one go. My eyes widened when I noticed several more of my teammates had joined the lives.
“Ah, and Hi Becky, Carli, A.D., Lindsey, Crystal, Allie, Ashlyn, Ali, Alyssa, and Kelley.”
I was practically wheezing by the time I finished listing everyone’s names.
“The gang’s all here I see.” I laughed.
I saw several of their comments popping up, all of which seemed to be referring to the same thing.
“Breath little one.”
“Drink some water, please.”
“Are you okay?”
“That wheezing doesn’t sound too good.”
“Go get your inhaler.”
I rolled my eyes playfully at their fussing, even from miles away they found a way to baby me. I was the youngest on the team so they felt the need to be protective.
“Guys relax, I’m perfectly okay. I just forgot to breath for a sec. And I’m 18 years old Chris, I’m not little.”
Several of them sent comments back disagreeing which I chose to ignore.
“Okay guys send in your questions and I’ll do my best to answer most of them.”
Comments began flowing in and I started to answer some of them.
“What’s your favorite holiday?”
“Well I’d have to say Christmas for sure. Not only is it a time for me to spend with family and the food is great I’ll admit I like getting and giving presents too.”
“ Who would you want with you if you were deserted on an island?” “I’d have to say… Alyssa and… Julie. I’d want those two with me because Alyssa would keep mostly to herself and not drive me crazy like Kelley or Emily would with their endless energy but she would be a great conversationalist and she would share her warmth by cuddling with me, and Julie because she’s tough as nails and I feel like she would be good at gathering food and finding a way to provide shelter.”
Alex, Pinoe and Tobin voiced their offense at not being chosen while the others, minus Christen just said they would let me fend for myself if we ever got stranded together. Christen said
“They are excellent choices and I agree.”
Julie and Alyssa gloated
“Ahaha we’re her favorites.”
“Now we know who the favorites are and I can’t say I’m surprised that I’m one of them.”
I continued to answer questions, they ranged from asking what my favorite color was to what my best moments the field was. I was in the middle of answering a question about my most embarrassing in-game moment was when Billie suddenly came running into the room, excited to show me something.
“Hey babe, Finn and I got down this amazing chorus, wanna hear it?”
I tried to find a way to mute the live while I talked to her but it was too late. She realized what I was doing, and her eyes almost popping out of her head. She looked at me worriedly while I just laughed nervously. I knew everyone had heard her call me “babe” because they began asking who I was dating and begging to see them. Emily commented
“Yeah Y/N spill the tea.”
Billie and I just stared at each other, slightly communicating with our eyes before she nodded and made her way over to sit next to me. We were both nervous but knew that everyone had to find out sometime, and while this wasn’t the way we had planned for the girls to find out I hoped they were cool about it.
“Guys… I’d like you to meet my girlfriend Billie. Billie Eilish.” I said to the camera.
“Hey guys, this wasn’t planned but I’m glad to be here.” She said
What followed was an outpouring of support and joy from the fans and I was incredibly relieved, we both were.  I didn’t see any comments from the team and that was slightly concerning. I knew they were all still on and paying attention. Did they not like her? Were they mad at me for hiding my relationship from them?
I smiled at the camera, both Billie and I thanking fans for their love. I hadn’t told her this yet but I was starting to worry about what my teammates really thought of Billie. After answering a few more questions we decided to call it a day and promised to do lives together often.
“That was fun! Sorry for putting you on the spot like that I totally forgot you were doing a live.” Billie said coming up to hug me.
“It’s okay, everyone seems to love you and support us.” I said absentmindedly scrolling through my phone waiting for something, anything from the girls.
“You okay Y/N?”
“Yeah I’m okay, I just haven’t heard from the girls since you came on the live and none of them said anything after.
“Wait the whole team was watching?”
“Yeah they were.”
“And they didn’t say anything after I came on?”
“Nope.”
“Do you think they have a problem with us being together?”
“I’ll be honest, I’m not sure.”
After some more waiting I finally got a text from Morgan in the group chat.
“Group Skype in 5, be there.”
Yikes that was a little cold. I wasn’t one to be afraid of my teammates, except on the rare occasion one of them was in a mood but I couldn’t help but be nervous to talk to them. I told Billie what was going to happen and I could tell she was nervous too but she decided to wait in the other room to give us some privacy, only joining if requested.
“I’m sure it won’t be long. I love you.” I said kissing her.
“I love you too.”
As soon as I joined the call it was silent.
“Hi guys.” I said timidly.
“Y/N.” Kelley said
“So… A famous girlfriend huh?” Megan said
“Yeah… she’s really talented and I’m so proud of all she’s accomplished. Our relationship is really special to me.” I said more confident than before.
“She seems very nice.” Chris said
“She is so kind and sweet.”
“Does she make you happy?” Mal asked me in a serious tone.
“Incredibly.”
“Then that’s all that matters to us.”
“I-I thought you guys were mad at me or didn’t approve of her.”
I saw several of the girls’ eyebrows furrow and they all looked confused and concerned.
“What made you think that?”
“Well for starters, none of you commented anything after she came on the live and then after no one texted me for over an hour. I really thought you were upset or something.” I said sadly
“Aw, bub. We’re sorry. We didn’t mean to make you feel like that. Looking at it now, we see how it looked but we were just texting each other, trying to plan a way to fly out and surprise you and meet her in person. We got caught up in taking about how you, the baby of the team; our baby is dating someone as famous as Billie Eilish, much less dating anyone at all.” Alex said, everyone else agreeing
“You guys didn’t think I could be dating anyone?” I asked slightly offended
“No, no. We didn’t mean it like that. We just meant that you did such a good job at hiding it from everyone and you never talked about liking any girls or boys or non-binary people that we thought you weren’t interested in dating at the moment.” Ali said.
“Oh.”
I understood now why they thought that, I had never shown any interest in anyone but it was simply because I was already taken and saw no reason to entertain, think about or talk about the idea of anyone else.
“We love her as an artist and are sure she is a great person, especially if she makes you happy.” Allie said.
“Would you guys like to talk to her right now? She’s just in the other room, I can go get her.”
“OMG YESSSS”
“ABSOLUTELY”
“WHAT KIND OF A QUESTION IS THAT?” Crystal, Sam and Abby all boomed
“And everyone else who isn’t trying to break your eardrums agrees too.” Ashlyn said giggling.
“Next time warn earbud users will you? Geez” Megan said rubbing her ears
“I’ll be right back.” I said chuckling at their antics.
I went into the room next door to get Billie so she could say Hi to the girls.
“Hey babe.” I said
“Hey, how’d your call with the team go?”
“Actually it’s not over yet. They want to meet you.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, they were never mad or upset. They were just planning to surprise me and come out to meet you in person.”
“Oh wow. Not what I was expecting to hear but that’s very nice of them.”
“Yeah, you ready to meet my “moms” and sisters?” I said giggling
“As I’ll ever be.”
When we reentered the room we could hear them all chanting
“GO, GO, GO, GO.”
When I looked at the screen I saw Mal chugging a giant bottle of sprite.
“What in the world? I’m gone for all of 5 Minutes and come back to see… whatever Mal is doing.”
“We triple dog dared her to chug the bottle of sprite after she pulled it out and took one measly sip of it.” Tierna shrugged
“You’re all so weird.”
“But you loveeee us.” Emily said
“That I do. How you holding up, Pugh?” I said looking back at Mal and seeing she didn’t look so good.
“Moms, I don’t feel so good.” She said referring to Christen and Tobin
“Well baby, maybe you shouldn’t have chugged the whole thing.” Chris said pouting at her sympathetically.
“You were chanting with everyone else!” Mal said annoyed
“didn’t want to be a buzz kill.” She shrugged
“Wait a little bit and then heat up yourself some chicken noodle soup.” Tobin said
“Okayyy.”
Mal flopped dramatically back on her bed as some of the girls gave her props and others laughed at her very apparent sore stomach.
“I’m so sorry. They’re always like this.” I said turning to Billie
“It’s cool. Props Mal, that was impressive.”
“Thanks Billie.”
“So Billie, how long have you and Y/N been together? Who kissed who first, and have you guys had sex yet?” Kelley asked
Of course she’s gonna be the one to put my girlfriend on the spot. Classic Kelley O’Hara
“Umm…” Billie looked at me uncomfortably
“We-we’ve been together for 7 and a half months. I kissed her, and no we haven’t.” I said covering for her as she froze.
“I see.” She said scratching her chin.
“Kelley, cool it with the grilling. We just met her.” Alex said coming to Billie’s defense.
“You’re right, sorry about that. I just want what’s best for Y/N. We all do.” She said sheepishly
“Nah, it’s cool. I totally get it.”
We continued to talk and the girls got to know Billie pretty well and they hit it off. I was relieved that they approved of her and that they were happy for me. They told me when they would be arriving in LA and how long they would be staying and we all got excited at the idea of seeing each other soon.

What I Need
Tumblr media
request: R is a single mom of a 3 month old and over time hope becomes like a second mom and it’s cute as hell to watch hope with a little baby. The reader plays for uswnt and it’s her first game back and hopes there with the baby and vlatko let’s hope come down to the field and it’s just cute little family hug and shit. that’s how they come out to the world and the team
pairing: Hope Solo x Reader
words: 1095
notes: I wrote this slightly different. The team already knows about them
"Good job Y/N! You can be proud of yourself."
"So good to have you back here again. I missed your snarky comments."
"Doing the impossible and proving us mortals wrong once again, huh?"
You laughed along with your teammates once the game was over, nothing much had changed since you left to become a mother. It felt good to be back on a soccer field and do what you're best at.
You had played the full 90 minutes even though Vlatko didn't like the idea at all but after much begging and convincing he gave you the chance and you proved your worth, even scoring one goal in the second half.
That definitely left a good impression on your team and with the media.
All you could think about now was your daughter and girlfriend, she stayed with Hope until the game would be over.
"Okay, where is she? I wanna see her now!" Alex looked around herself in search for something that could resemble a baby.
You giggled, ready to answer but Pinoe smashed into your side and gave you a big hug, ruffling your hair while doing so. You groaned and dodged her hands. "Did someone say baby? Give her to me now."
"Woah, woah. Easy. She's still with Hope. I have to ask first. Give me a minute, god, you're like two small children yourself." You playfully glared at Megan and went off to search for Vlakto.
"Y/N."
You looked to your right and noticed Vlakto walking your way, a big smile on his face.
"Vlakto." You nodded in respect.
"Great comeback." He studied you for a second, then broke out into a big grin and hugged you tight. All this praise had you feeling extra giddy now.
"Say, can Hope come down? They all want to meet her and you know how Pinoe can be once she set her mind on something." You pointed towards her as she was watching you with hawk eyes.
"Sure. I don't see the problem. Make sure no one gets hurt, yeah." He winked and then left you to yourself to chat with the rest of your teammates.
Wasting no time you jogged towards the section Hope was sitting in and saw her leaning against the barrier separating the seats and field. You waved them onto the field and made sure security would let her pass.
Your daughter was happily resting against Hope's chest, holding onto her thumb, a pacifier in her mouth. Surely no camera would miss that shot. This would be all over the news later. It was the perfect moment for a come out.
"Hey, baby!" You said full of excitement as Hope walked up to you. Upon spotting you your daughter squealed in excitement and tried reaching for you as well as losing her pacifier along the way but Hope was quick to catch it before it would fall onto the grass.
"Hello, my angel. Mommy missed you so much." Securing both hands around her small body you lifted her out of Hope's arms and into your own.
Hope smiled at the both of you before greeting you and pressing her lips onto yours, one of her hands gently caressing your daughter's leg. "She was well behaved." She reassured, stroking her soft hair.
"You should come to all my games then. Seeing her in your arms just watching me gave me a lot more motivation and honestly, that was the cutest thing I've ever seen, Miss Solo." You smirked and gave her one more kiss, this time much longer than the last.
"Baby!" You groaned and turned around as you heard Pinoe's excited yell. Tobin and Alex were hot on her heels, not missing the chance of an interaction with a cute, small baby.
This was not the first time that Pinoe and Tobin have seen your daughter, for Alex and most of your teammates it was a first time though. "No. It's my turn now. You've already seen her. Don't be mean, P." Alex complained and pushed herself in front of the purple haired woman.
"Well, hello there, aren't you a cute thing." She mumbled and stared at your baby with big eyes and an even bigger smile. "Hey, Hope."
The ex goalkeeper waved at your friends and went to stand behind you, one arm around your waist, her head on your shoulder staring down at the small human.
"I'm way too sweaty to hold her. Hope?"
Your girlfriend sprung into action and your daughter was once again placed into her arms.
More of your teammates started to arrive to have a look at her and took rounds of taking her into their arms, of course being very careful and as soon as she would start to cry they made sure to get her back into Hope's arms.
"Sonnett, you want to hold her?" Sonny's eyes widened as Hope halted in front of her holding your daughter out to her. "Uhm– sure. Can't be that bad."
Hope stood close, never leaving her daughter out of sight or attention. As soon as Sonny held her, looking awkward while doing so your daughter started crying and reaching for Hope's strong and familiar arms.
"Eh, okay. Maybe I'll wait getting my own small copy of myself. Hope!" You and the rest of the team laughed at a panicking Sonny.
Hope was quick to pick her back up and calm her down, it was like as soon as she was back in the goalkeeper's hands she stopped crying immediately.
Watching her with a baby all cuddled up in her arms talking to friends made your heart swell with undying love. You couldn't get any luckier even if you would try.
"Okay, I think that's enough for her. Someone needs to go back to sleep. Babe, you got this, right? I'll meet you outside once we're through here, alright?"
"Of course. Be careful. I love you. It was nice seeing you guys." You carefully kissed her small forehead and watched as Hope said goodbye to her old teammates before leaving the field.
"You three will make a perfect family. It's cute to see her with a baby. She looks so happy. Your small one has two amazing mothers." Carli joined your side and put her arm around your shoulder. "Great goal, by the way."
"I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Oh, you think so? Thanks for the great assist." You nudged her side playfully and together you marched back to the locker room.
This day couldn't have been any more perfect.

Math? I Thought You Said Meth? (Krashlyn x Reader)
AN: I got a request of Krashlyn x Reader and this is my pretty lame attempt to get something out in these very dire, boring times. I hope you dig it! It has a bit of swearing and maybe a bit of like childhood trauma? family issues?
I walk down to the hotel lobby, feet dragging, shirt on inside out, skin pallid and dark circles very prominent. I’m still in my sleep shirt, no makeup, and my glasses, which almost never happens. My hair is an absolute mess, and Ashlyn ruffles it as I join her and Ali.
“Kid, you look like trash, no offense, very cute trash, but still,”
I groan and pull her towards the desk.
“Yeah, yeah, I know, I was up late,”
If by ‘up late’ I meant I haven’t slept in over 42 hours because I’ve been studying in every extra second I have, then yeah, I was up late. I turn to the receptionist, smiling lightly.
“So, I really really need to find the closest coffee shop. It can be a hole in the wall, it can have bad coffee, I just need something,”
The woman smiles at me and pulls out her phone.
“Okay, well, good news, there’s a Starbucks a little bit down the road to the right, walking distance,”
We thank her and grab Ali and Sonnett, who’s just made it downstairs.
“Dude, who’d you get in a fight with, I haven’t seen eye bags that dark since your bar fiasco with that one guy’s girlfriend!”
I chuckle.
“How was I supposed to know they came together?”
We make quick work of getting to the shop, talking and laughing along the way. We all walk in and I make a beeline for the counter, the rest of our small group taking a seat, having given me their orders. I order everyone else’s before taking a deep breath.
“Okay, I need to know, like legally, how much espresso you can put in a cup. Like, can you do a tiny bit of coffee, and the rest espresso?”
After discussing concerns and worries, which includes me telling the dude that I’ll pay whatever the price is, I’ve secured my 2 tablespoons coffee to the rest of the largest size cup espresso concoction. I walk back to the table, distributing the drinks to their respective owners.
“So, y/n, what’d you get, something you’d recommend?”
I cackle and shoot Ali finger guns.
“Absolutely not. This is a cup full of espresso shots with like a minuscule amount of coffee… it’s bitter and embodies my parents… would not recommend,”
She gasps and turns to Ash, gesturing towards me and groaning.
“No, no, no, remember last camp? We discussed, she’s your kid before 12, and it’s 11:49 so thats on you, babe. Also, y/n, really kid? Kind of impressed, kind of in awe, kind of worried,”
I just shrug, take the lid of my cup, and test the temperature. Seeing that it’s cool, or at least a little bit, I start to chug it, finishing half the cup before I start to listen to the other’s conversation.
“So, y/n, how’s the math you were talking about yesterday going?”
I spit out my mouthful of drink on the table, lightly coughing.
“What?? I don’t do meth, man, look I know I’m kinda out of it today. I’ve been up for the past 2 days studying for my calculus exam I have next week, not doing drugs,”
Everyone looks at me as I burst into tears.
“Hey, hey, we were talking about math, not meth, we know you don’t do drugs, also we will be talking about the all nighter, but, I think we should finish our drinks, get ready for the beach day we have planned, and you can sleep there, just relax, sound good?”
I let out a sniffle and wrap my arms around my waist.
“Yeah, maybe I do need some sleep, sorry,”
I drag my hand over my face and pick up my cup, taking a sip. Ali wraps her arm around my shoulder and I lean my head on her shoulder, leaning my weight onto her and closing my eyes. I must doze off because I wake up to Ashlyn picking me up. I shake my head and rub my eyes.
“Ah, fuck, went and woke the kid up,”
I curl up further and lean my head into her body, quickly falling back asleep. I get woken up by Ali and Ash aggressively shushing the team, who are all gathered in my room.
“I told y’all to shhhhhh, and now she’s awake! Man, this is why we have to run so much, y’all don’t listen,”
I tap Ash’s shoulder, giving her a hug as she sets me down.
“Well, looks like beach time is still on, so I’m going to change into beach wear, and then get another coffee, and then we can leave,”
They all nod and I get into my suitcase, grabbing my swim trunks and bikini top. I quickly change, grabbing my hair cream and going to find Ash.
“Moooom, I need help with the hair, and since Pinoe is going to pick up the caffeine, I need you,”
She quickly grabs some cream and creates a look that Pinoe, crowd favorite for her hair, will be proud of. I check it in the mirror quickly before turning to her and hugging her.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,”
She chuckles and wraps an arm around me.
“Yeah, yeah, can’t have any kid of mine walking around with wack hair,”
I squeal and turn to Ali, giving her a huge hug as well.
“Wait, I love y’all, like a lot, thank you for helping me adjust and for dealing with me, okay, that’s all, thanks for coming to my TedTalk,”
Pinoe chooses that moment to walk in with the coffee. I prance up to her, kiss her cheek, and walk off to find Rose, Mal, and the rest of the youngins.
“Thanks boss! I expect a volleyball match partner later, yeah?”
She nods and I sprint towards Sonny, making sure to not spill my coffee.
“Y/N, no running babe! Knowing you, you’ll fall and scald yourself or something,”
I wave my hand at Ali and smirk. I catch up to Sonny and lean up against her.
“Man oh man, I’m going to snooze at the beach, mark my words,”
She looks at me and smiles.
“Well, at least you’ll actually get sleep.. Look, I know school is a lot, by itself, I can’t even imagine what it’s like while your playing on this team, but you have to take care of yourself man, cause I know Ash and Kriegs are this close to making you room with Carlos,”
My eyes widen as she puts her fingers almost together. I nod and bow.
“Yeah, I just really want to do well, you know? I mean, birth parents didn’t end up going to secondary schooling, the fosters were more focused on taking care of us in the care minimum than encouraging us kids, and I just want to be better,”
I start to tear up and Lindsey and Em both pull me into a hug.
“Okay, I know it doesn’t feel like it, but kid, you’re insane! I mean, I didn’t go to college, so you’re already passing me up. And, you’re trying for premed things, on top of playing for the national team? Anyone would love to be doing as well as you’re doing, and even if you’re parents aren’t proud, or aren’t around, we are, and we’re so fucking proud, and I’m defintely getting yelled at later for saying fuck in front of you,”
I laugh and give her a quick squeeze, wiping at my eyes and chuckling. I separate myself from them, and cup my hands around my mouth.
“I’m definitely getting smoked for this, but I fucking love you all! You all treat me like a kid, and while that sometimes gets old, I’m so thankful that I have people in my life that care enough! Also, Mom and Mom, please don’t room me with Carlos! Carl, I love you, but you’re scary and I think you might kill me at any given moment, love you though,”
Everyone looks at me and I flash some dimples in hopes of not getting in trouble for swearing.
“Okay, we’re going to let the fuck slide, but don’t get ideas, kid. Also, it’s very nice to know that Carlos is a valid threat, also, we love you too, just, stop chugging weird amounts of caffeine, please. And to conclude, you forgot to tie your swim trunks, I see that tattoo, who signed off? You’re 17, you need a signed consent form, kid…”
I grimace and run to the van, hoping they’ll cool off by the time we need to leave.
We’re all at the beach, Megan, Ali, and I all tanning while Kelly, Emily, Rose and Mal all play soccer tennis, Ash and Alex out surfing.
“You really thought they said meth, Y/N? Really? You’re like the best kid ever, why would you ever do meth?”
I grin and laugh and turn my face towards the sun, deciding to just enjoy my off day and to look forward to the future, together, with my team.

I Can’t Believe it: Tierna Davidson x Reader
Request: Hey bud! Whenever you get a chance can you write one where baby R was on the team but went into the Army. R has been gone a long time and they miss her and are worried. but she surprises them at a game and proposes to Tierna too?
Word Count: 957
Warning: None
(Y/N) POV
“Why is Tierna being so clingy?” Pinoe asks. “You guys are cute and whatever but this is on another level.”
“I’m clingy because I’m sad,” my girlfriend says pouting even more than she already is.
“I need to talk to you guys but Tierna is not happy about what we need to talk about,” I explain to the team.
“You aren’t pregnant are you?” Kelley asks, clearly still skeptical about Alex’s pregnancy. “Please don’t be pregnant we need you for Olympic Qualifying and She Believes.”
“It would be better if she was pregnant,” Tierna mumbles. “Then I could hold her safely in my arms for 9 months.”
“Hey,” I say to her softly. “I’m going to be okay. I am going to be fine and I will come back to you.”
“What’s going on?” Carli asks, trying to move the team meeting along.
“I am being deployed,” I tell the team. “I leave in a few weeks, this will probably be the last time I see you for a while. I don’t know how long I am going to be gone yet.”
---------
I have never been more nervous in my entire life. I am finally home from my deployment and I am going to surprise the girls. More importantly, I am going to surprise Tierna.
“And now I would like to welcome the hero of the match, the United States Women’s National Team midfielder, Sergeant (Y/N) (Y/L/N), returning home from a 12-month deployment,” the announcer says.
I walk out of the tunnel onto the field. I salute the flag as the national anthem plays and as soon as it is over, the team runs over and hugs me. After everyone lets go I hug Tierna tightly.
“I can’t believe you are here,” she whispers. “I’ve missed you so much.”
“I’ve missed you so much too,” I tell her. “Go out there and win for me. I’ll be here when you are done.”
She goes to the team huddle while I follow a US Soccer personnel to a private box. I watch the game, The first game I have been able to watch live since the last game I played in the victory tour last year. Overall, the US dominates and we are up 2-0 at halftime thanks to Christen and Lindsey.
When the team comes back out there is a new energy and I know for a fact that the team is going to win and nothing is going to stop them. Everyone is playing so happy and they truly look like the best team in the world. When the final whistle blows I make my way back down to the locker room and wait for the team to come in. Vlatko comes in first, so we go to the coach’s office to talk.
“Are you ready to get back into playing?” he asks.
“So ready,” I tell him. “I played a lot of pick up while I was over there. And obviously I have been keeping up on my fitness.”
“We can talk more about your plan to come back later,” he says. “But right now there is a team waiting for you and a particular defender who has seemed to only be happy after receiving a phone call from a special someone.”
I go back out into the locker room and I am tackled by Sonnett.
“You are never allowed to leave again,” She screams into my ear.
“Dog Pile!” Kelley yells while jumping on top of me and Sonnett. More people join in and it takes a few minutes for me to be free from the bottom of the pile.
Tierna comes up to me and we hug for a long time, neither of us really wanting to let the other go.
“Hey love birds,” Pinoe calls out. “Break it apart so Tierna can shower and then we can all catch up with (Y/N).”
“Promise you will be here when I get back?” Tierna asks.
“Promise,” I tell her.
I let her go and she heads to the showers. I am caught up on everything I have missed in the past year before I start joining the shenanigans. Rose teaches me a new dance and we perform it for the team after everyone has finished cleaning up from the game.
“What are you most looking forward to about being back in America?” Ash asks me.
I stand up and look at Tierna.
“Well,” I start out. “When I first got over there, I missed everything about being here. But as my time continued on, I realized that I really only missed a couple of things. The first one is a grass field to play soccer on. Playing pick up in the desert was not always the best idea. The other thing I missed is one person in particular. Tierna while I was over there I could not stop thinking about the next time I would be able to hear your voice. Tierna, I love you with all my heart and I can’t imagine where I would be without you in my life. I don’t want to ever know what life is like without you in it.”
I pull the ring out of my pocket and get down on one knee.
“Tierna Lillis Davidson will you marry me?”
“Yes,” she says, tears already coming to her eyes.
I put the ring on her finger then pull her in for a slow kiss. The entire team is clapping and whistling. After everyone congratulates us and gives us hugs, we head out to the bus.
“I can’t believe we are going to get married,” I whisper to her later in the night right before we fall asleep.
“I can’t either,” She whispers back.

Remember the Night - (Kelley O'Hara x reader)
I smile as my phone lights up as it buzzes on the bed beside me as I'm getting ready. "Hey love". Her face lights up on my screen she's already dressed in her training gear and on the bus by the looks of it, "Hey Y/n. You nearly ready?"
I chuckle, "Shouldn't I be asking you that? I'm not the one about to play in a world cup final". "Yeah but I want to make sure your in the stands cheering me on" she gives me a cheeky smile. "I'll be in the front row cheering like mad as you plough through Dutch players the whole game" I roll my eyes. "So you think we're going to win?" She asks. I smile at her, "I know your going to win. You believe in your team and I believe in you".
A big grin spreads across her face but before she can say anything a blonde blue drops in her lap and snatches the phone from her. There a bit of a struggle before the screen focuses and I'm met with the face of Emily Sonnett, "Hey Mom!" I chuckle, "Hey Sonny". "Sonnett give me back the phone!" Kelley whines as she thumps Emily as she tries to steal back her phone. "Ow! Mom! Dad hit me" Emily whines. I laugh, "Sonnett give Kelley back the phone". She pouts but complies as Kelley soon replaces her on screen. "I better let you get zoned in on the game. I love you and I'll see you at the game" I tell her. She sighs but nods, "Okay I'll see you at the game".
I nod, "Yep I'll be in the front row wearing my favourite players jersey". Kelley's face is overtaken by a smile and she awes. "Yep my best friend number 23 Christen Press what a hero". I can see Kelley's look of shock while Christen climbs over the back of her seat and smiles at me, "Love you too Y/n". Kelley face turns sour quickly as we both laugh. "You should be thanking me Kels, remember I'm the one who introduced you back at that Stanford party" Christen teases.
I grin, "She's right Love. Christen told me about this absolute nut of a teammate she had and then introduced me to you". The people her laugh while she pouts at me with red cheeks. "And then I spent everyday after that falling more and more in love with you" I smile. Her frown is replaced with a smile while it sounds like the whole bus awes at us. "Anyways I better let you all prepare for the game. Good luck girls! Love you Kels". I hear an array of "bye" and "See you later" and a "bye mom!" from Sonnett. Kelley smiles at me, "Bye Y/n". I blow her a kiss before I end the call.
I take one last look around the room making sure I have everything I need. I pat my pocket one last time and take out the small box and open it. I bite my lip as I look down at the box in my hand and sigh.
Just a few more hours
----------------
I was on my feet when Kelley went down after going in for a tackle against the Dutch player. I guess it was clear I was anxious as Kelley's mom stood beside me, "I'm sure she's fine. She's tough". I nod mutely as I bite my thumb praying she'll be okay.
The crowd cheered when she got up but she was led over to the sideline by the medic and subbed off. I could see her scan the family section until she landed on me. I held up a thumbs up and mouthed at her, "You okay?" She nods with a small smile but I could see she was still annoyed but she still mouthed back, "Fine. Just a precaution".
I let out a sigh of relief thank god it's nothing bad. I pointed to my heart and tap it three times and she smiles and does the same. Our own little way of saying I love you.
The rest of the match was insane. Pinoe's penalty and then sweet baby Rose's goal had every US supporter buzzing waiting for the match to end and for the US to be two time reigning world champions. The whole of the family sections was on its feet as there was only a minute left in the game. When the final whistle blew everything went wild.
The atmosphere was electric and full of buzz. The subs charged the field in celebration the whole team jumping around the field. I spot Kelley hugging Julie as she whispers something to her before Kelley runs off towards Alex and Allie. I hug Kelley's family while Kelley celebrates with her team.
Before long I see my red head sprinting over to us and hops up on a box to talk to us. I let her family speak with her first before I'm pushed forward by her sister. I lean down over the barrier and hug her tight, "I knew you would win". She nuzzles into my neck before she pulls me slight and the look she gives me. She eyes glazed over and a complete look of love in her eyes, "Can I kiss you?" I smile down as I rest my forehead against hers, "Are you sure?"
But she just beams up at me, "Never been more sure of anything in my life". I lean down and cup her face and kiss her. I smile into the kiss as I shut out everything else around us. When we break apart we're both wearing matching smiles. "I'll see you later yeah?" I smile and nod rapidly, "Definitely". Kelley gives me one last kiss before she hops off the box and rejoins the team.
I move back so other family members could talk to their loved ones. My hand slips into my pocket as it plays with the box. Watch as they receive their medals and parade around the pitch for a victory lap. I bite my lip, the tiny box in my right pocket seems to be getting heavier and burning a hole right in my pants leg. I slip my phone out of my pocket as I send a quick text off to Kelley.
Do you think you could slip
away for a few minutes?
Yeah for sure
Meet me at players entrance
I make my way to meet Kelley as I push myself through crowds of people. When I spot her waiting for me I pick her up and spin her around in my arms. She giggles and gives me a quick but firm kiss, "What did you need to see me for?" I drop her back on her feet as I take her hand a drag her behind me, "Cmon I need to show you something!"
"Y/n where are you taking me? I can't stay away long from the team" Kelley slurs slightly obviously the effects of having a few drinks before meeting up with me. "I just need to show you something really quick okay. Just follow me!" I call as I drag her through the streets.
I pull her all the way to the bridge with locks decorating the wiring of the railings. "I could be getting drunk right now, why did you bring me here?" Kelley jokes. I grinned as I looked over my girlfriend. She was still wearing her shorts and jersey but she had thrown on her zip up over her jersey and she had traded her cleats for her trainers. Her baby strands were stuck to her face and her cheeks are flushed with a red tint.
"I know your suppose to be celebrating right now and I had planned to to this later but I just can't wait any longer" I admit. My hand slips into my pocket as I get down on one knee. Kelley gasp while her hands clasp over her mouth and I can already see her eyes start to water.
"I had it all planned out. I would take you here after dark and the street would be all light up and it would look like something out of a fairytale. But I honestly couldn't wait any longer to ask you and I wasn't sure if you would be drunk to remember" I laugh. She chuckles as the tears are now streaming down her face.
"We've been together a long time, way back since you were this cocky little hotshot in Stanford. And everyone tells me how much you changed after you met me but I don't think they give you enough credit because you changed me too. I become a better person when I'm with and I think we bring the best out of each other. I love how your so determined and passionate about everything you do but you always know how to get a laugh with your childlike behaviour. I want to want to spend the rest of my life waking up next to you and reminding you everyday how much I love you. So Kelley Maureen O'Hara will you please marry me?"
She doesn't say anything but instead tackles me in a hug which sends us toppling to the ground. I grunt from the impact but she doesn't give me time to recover as smashes our lips together in a heated kiss. We only part when air becomes an issue as we're both breathing heavily.
"Is that a yes?" I breath out as I stare into her hazel orbs. "Put that ring on my finger" Kelley lets out a watery laugh. I chuckle as I slide the ring onto her finger. I get up off the ground and lift her into my arms, "I love you so so so much Kel". She grins at me, "I love you more". I brush my nose against hers and kiss her forehead, "Not possible". "Well it is because I do" she fires back. "Everything's a competition with you" I roll my eyes. "Yep" she giggles and kisses me.
She holds my hand as we walk back to the stadium. "Do you think that they noticed I was gone?" She asks as she entwines our fingers. "Are you trying to tell me that they wouldn't notice their Frat Daddy Senior not there with them celebrating and getting shit faced drunk" I raise an eyebrow at her. She laughs, "True". We stop outside the door and we can still hear the massive party raging inside the dressing room. "You better go back inside. You got some catching up to do" I laugh. She shrugs, "I'll still be able to drunk everyone in there under the table".
I shake my head, "It will be a miracle you remember I proposed tomorrow between your head injury and the amount of alcohol your going to consume tonight". She wraps her arms around my neck, "Well if I don't it just means we get to celebrate all over again". I smile and pat the small of her back, "You better go back in there". She stands on her tippy toes and gives me a quick peck, "I'll see you at the party and then we can celebrate together".
I nod and watch as she skips back into the dressing room. I can hear everyone inside cheer as she walks in. I start to walk down the hallway when I hear a shout from the locker room
"WORMIE WHAT IS THAT ON YOUR FINGER!"

Author: Me
A/N: After a long, longggg wait... the next chapter to this story is finally here. Like I said guys, I’m really sorry that it’s taken so long for this chapter to be posted. I’m trying to get back in the groove of writing this story for y’all. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
Tumblr media
Y/N POV
“OOSA on three!” JJ yelled over the thundering crowd as we all huddled together with our hands meeting in the center, “One, two, three!” “OOSA, OOSA, OOSA AH!” we all yelled together before the starters ran to their positions. Once I got to my spot, I stood there looking at the massive crowd in the stadium and finally let the nerves set in. “Hey, kid,” I hear Pinoe say as she walked up to me, “Don’t be nervous. We’ve got this. Just play your game and they’ll never know what hit them.” She gave me a smile and a wink as she pats my shoulder. “Thanks, Pinoe,” I say with a smile and a nod before she jogged over to her position on the opposite side of the pitch. I notice Lindsey looking around the stadium and at all of us as Thailand got into their positions. She saw me looking at her with a smirk, which caused her to give me a big grin. We did our little air-handshake, just like she and Sonny do except ours is a little different, before she turned to get ready. After what felt like forever, the whistle finally blew and the match started with the roar of the crowd and the disappearance of my nerves.
The first few minutes of play seems to drag on with a couple of scoring attempts made by Sammy and myself, but no goals yet. It’s the 5th minute when we actually see our chance. Kelley sends in a cross towards the box where Lindsey, Sammy, and Alex are. I watch from outside the box as the ball soars towards Lindsey, who nods it down and forward to Alex. Alex volleys the ball into the back of the net, causing the crowd to go absolutely crazy. I start running towards Alex and Lindsey celebrating in the box, then out of the corner of my eye I see the offsides flag being raised. Fucking hell. “It’s alright,” I say as I reach Alex after she realizes that she was caught offsides, “You’ll get another one. I just know it.” She gave me a soft smile as I patted her back while we jogged back to our positions. After a few more minutes of play, I have the ball on the right side of the pitch when I see Alex and Pinoe open in the box. As great as that chance would’ve been, I fucked up the cross and sent it over the crossbar. “It’s okay,” I hear JJ say from behind me as I got back in my position causing me to turn around to face her, “Just relax, we’ve got this. Don’t force anything.” I nod my head towards her and give her a thumbs-up before mouthing, “Thanks, JJ.” It’s the 12th minute before we see hope for another chance to score. Pinoe has the ball while Alex and I are trying to get open in the box. Pinoe weighs her options as she sees Kelley move towards the outside of the box. She passes it to Kelley, while Alex and I adjust our positions in the box as Kelley moves down the right side of the pitch. Kelley moves more and more towards the end line before finally chipping a cross towards the goal. It’s more in Alex’s range so I stop and watch her send a beautiful header into the back of the net.
“And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! The first goal of the match goes to the USA after that beautiful cross O’Hara sent into the box towards Morgan. A beautiful header for the first goal for the USA! The USA leads 1-0 in the 12th minute of play!”
Holy fucking shit. Did that really just happen? I’m like in shock right now, it’s been so long since we’ve gotten to witness a Kellex goal. And yes, the whole team knows about all of the ships on Twitter and Tumblr of our team. Anyways, back to the match. I start running towards Kelley and Alex while the whole stadium shakes with excitement. When I reach them, along with the rest of my teammates, I’m stuck in the middle of a huge group hug while I held on to my best friend and my girlfriend. “HOLY SHIT!!” Kelley yells as she starts jumping up and down with the whole group, “I love your head, Janice!!” Alex laughed as Kelley kissed her forehead. I slung my arms around them as we walked back to our positions. “I’m so glad I got to finally witness a Kellex goal again,” I say with a smirk as Kelley and Alex groaned, “All jokes aside, I’m proud of you two. Let’s kick some ass.” Kelley cheered loudly in response as she ran to her spot, while Alex hung back with me for a few more minutes. “Next goal is yours,” Alex said as she patted my back with a smirk and a wink before she jogged to her position. I shook my head at her before giving her a bright smile as I turned my attention back to the match. After maybe three more minutes of play, Kelley gets an extremely clean tackle that makes our whole bench jump to their feet in excitement. She’s still got it, I think to myself. My best friend looked completely in her element, it’s been a while since I’ve seen her on her game this much. I missed this Kelley, a complete badass. Sammy had the ball during the 18th minute and saw an opening on goal, but managed to shoot it just to the left of the post. “Fuck,” I hear her say as she ran her hand over her face while she walked back to her position. “Sammy,” I say loud enough for her to look up at me with frustration clear on her face, “It’s okay. You’ll get a goal, just don’t overthink it or force anything. Tone down the ‘Tower of Power’ just a little.” She smiles at me with a laugh before getting back into position.
In the 20th minute, Kelley has the ball on our side of the pitch for a few moments before sending a long ball towards Alex. Alex moves the ball up the left side of the pitch, while I watch Rose move through defenders in the middle of the pitch towards the box. I move up the right side and try to gain the attention of as many defenders as I can, in hopes that I can help Rose get open. Alex notices what I’ve managed to make happen as she passes the ball forward to Rose, who sends a low ball towards the left of the goalkeeper into the net.
“And they’ve done it again! With that precise pass from Morgan to Lavelle in Thailand territory, the ball sneaks under the goalkeeper to extend the lead for the USA to 2-0 in the 20th minute!”
I don't know what it is, but there's something about this match. The energy coming off of the team and coming from the crowd is indescribable. We came here to make a statement and honestly, I feel like there’s more to come. It would be amazing if we managed to pull off an unbelievable match, one that would stick in everyone’s minds forever. Anyways… After I watched Rose score from the right side of the pitch I ran over with Lindsey and hugged Rose, Alex, and Pinoe for a quick moment before we got back to business. During the 22nd minute, Crystal managed to get down the pitch just outside of Thailand’s goal to send a cross in for Sammy. I watched as Sammy moved on goal to head the ball into the back of the net, but the goalkeeper deflected it right to Alex’s feet. I held my breath, knowing I was about to see her get a brace in the first match of the tournament. But, instead, she somehow managed to send the ball over the crossbar. I couldn’t help but give her a little smirk as she turned around to get ready for the goal kick. She looked a little irritated, but it seems like my smirk pulled her out of that since she was smiling at me now. Not too long after Alex’s attempt, Sammy has the ball inside the box just to the left of the goal. When she looked like she managed to get an opening on goal, she’s pulled to the ground by the Thailand defender. The ref didn’t call anything dirty on the play, which just pissed me off. “Are you fucking kidding?!” I yelled as I walked towards the ref after checking on Sammy, “Are you blind? She was pulled down, that’s a penalty!” I’m pulled back by someone before I could get anywhere near the ref, as I tried to continue yelling. “Y/N,” I finally hear the person who’s pulling me away say, “Calm down. Don’t lose your head.” I turned around to see who was pulling me away— Kelley and Alex. Not too surprising, I know. “But, she just watched her pull Samm—” “We know,” Kelley says while interrupting me, “It was a shit call, but we don’t need you getting carded over this.” “Kelley’s right, baby,” Alex whispers to me while putting her hand on my shoulder, “The team just got you back out on the pitch, and we need you out here to help us pull out a win. So, please calm down before Jill subs you out.” She’s right. Actually, they’re both right. I can’t let things get to me so easily. After a moment, I let out a long sigh and nodded my head towards both of them, “I’m fine, it’s fine. Let’s just get back to the match.”
We managed to get the ball back pretty quickly after the bullshit with Sammy happened, and a failed scoring attempt made by Thailand that went right into the hands of Uncle in the 28th minute. Crystal sent a long ball to me near the top of the box, where I weighed my options. I can see Pinoe and Alex moving on goal, but then again I can see an opening for me to get a shot in. While I try out a little fancy footwork, managing to almost slip past the Thailand player, I’m practically shoved to the ground right outside the box. I had the wind knocked out of me and it caused me to groan loudly, “Jesus…Fucking...Christ...” While I moved to get up, I could hear someone yelling at the ref. No surprise who it is either. “Kelley,” I say as I moved in between her and the ref, pushing her back, “Back up. It’s fine. We don’t need the master of yellow cards getting carded today.” She gave me a mischievous grin before glaring at the ref again. “Fucking bitch,” she whispered, “Missing all of these calls all match. You were in the box, it should be a penalty.” After a moment of me trying to get her to calm down, I managed to talk her down before going to set up for the free-kick. Looking at how everyone was setting up in the box, I knew that my next choice probably wasn’t the most conventional but it would catch Thailand’s team off guard. As the whistle’s blown, I approach the ball with no intention of sending it in the air. I sent a low ball right under the line of Thailand players towards Sammy in the box. The ball somehow bounces off of Sammy’s legs right to the feet of Lindsey. Lindsey shoots the ball into the top of the net and the stadium erupts with excitement.
“And with that surprising low free-kick sent in by Y/L/N, it goes off Mewis to the feet of Horan. Horan sent the ball into the back of the net with extreme power! That goal gives the USA a 3-0 lead in the 32nd minute of play! Horan just scored her first World Cup goal! What a match, ladies and gentlemen!”
I yelled with extreme excitement as I ran towards Lindsey and the rest of my teammates in a group hug. When Lindsey was finally able to get out of the arms of our teammates, she saw me beaming at her with pride a few feet away. She gave me a goofy-ass Lindsey Horan smile as she ran and jumped into my arms. “Look at my best friend,” I said as she laughed with me, “Scoring in a World Cup tournament for the first time. I’m so fucking proud of you!!” After I let her down, she gave me another hug while saying, “Thanks, Y/N. It means a lot coming from you. Also, thanks for always being there to catch me.” She was laughing after saying that last part as we walked back to our positions. I was laughing too because only Sammy and I will catch her when she’s jumping into our arms. “Anytime, Linds,” I say as I pat her back with a smile, “Let’s finish this.” She gave me a thumbs-up and a wink before jogging to her spot. I glanced over at our bench before play started back up again and I saw Sonny grinning from ear to ear, looking and pointing at Lindsey and I. Probably overly praising us, per usual. In the 38th minute, Alex had another chance to score again. Crystal passed her the ball and Alex does a small move that managed to get the defender that was covering her to overrun her just enough to give her the space she needed. But, that moment is short-lived whenever Alex shoots on goal just for it to be blocked by a defender. Even from where I was standing, I could hear Alex groan with frustration. Throughout the rest of the half, we had a few chances to score again but mostly the ball either didn’t get to where we needed it to be or the goalkeeper managed to get her hands on the ball. Just before the whistle is blown for halftime, Pinoe is pushed down and slides into a Thailand player. I rolled my eyes thinking that the ref was just going to let that one go too but to everyone’s surprise, she actually calls the foul. I walked over and helped Pinoe up just as the whistle was blown for halftime. “Fucking hell,” she mumbled loud enough for me to hear, causing me to laugh loudly, while we jogged towards the locker room.
“You’re doing really great, kiddo,” Ash says to me after Jill walked out of the room, “Really kicking some ass out there.” I nod my head towards her while saying, “Thanks, mom. I just really want a goal…” “You’ll get one,” Christen said as she walked up to us with Tobin, “I know you will.” “You’ll do some of your fancy footwork and score,” Tobin says with a shrug, “It’s inevitable.” I laughed at the sight of Tobin and said, “Oh, yeah? Coming from the Queen of Fancy Footwork, it must be true.” Tobin cracked one of her bright smiles while Christen laughed along with me. “Christen’s right though, Y/N,” I hear Ali say from the other side of Ash a moment later, “You always manage to pull out a goal whenever you really want one. ” I gave her a soft smile and glanced around the room while the four of them continued talking about the match. I was looking for Alex. Just as we were about to head back out to the pitch, her ocean eyes caught mine. She was giving me a soft smile after she left Allie and Kelley to come talk to me. “Hmmm,” I say as we walked towards the door of the locker room, “I thought you said the next goal was mine? Looks like you were wrong, for once.” She rolled her eyes and hit my shoulder before stopping us in the tunnel. “Okay, maybe I was a little off,” she said with a laugh, “But, I do think that you’ll score at least once in this match. I can just feel it.” I gave her a small grin before placing my hands on her shoulders. “Mhm...whatever you say, Alex,” I say with a small laugh before looking around us to make sure we were alone, “By the way, you’re doing fucking amazing. I’m ready to see you score another goal, babe.” That caused her to blush slightly and smile up at me. I glance around us one more time before leaning down and kissing her softly on the forehead. “Let’s go,” she said with a bright smile as she grabbed my wrist to pull me along with her towards the pitch.
The first few minutes of play in the second half consisted of mostly blocked shots and crosses that weren’t producing goals like we needed them to do. A little annoying and frustrating, to say the least. During the 50th minute, Pinoe has the ball in the middle of Thailand’s territory. I was watching her from the top of the box while she moved towards the left side of the pitch. I moved along with her just as she looked up to see me moving into an open area. She sent me a quick pass in the box, I turned with the ball and moved slightly to the left just before shooting my shot on goal.
“And they’ve done it yet again, ladies and gentlemen! Rapinoe sent Y/N a pass in the box, where she turned and shot on goal. The ball is slightly deflected by a Thailand defender, causing the goalkeeper to make an error. Y/N scores the 4th goal for the USA, making the score now 4-0!”
For a moment, I just stand there in shock. Staring at the goal, the roar of the crowd is muted for just a few seconds before I’m pulled back into reality. “HOLY SHIT!” I yell as I run towards our bench with my teammates following close behind. When I get to the bench, there are only two people I’m thinking of celebrating this moment with-- my moms. Ash was jumping up and down yelling at the top of her lungs as Ali ran towards me with her arms open to catch me. “YOU DID IT!!” Ali yells as she spins me around, causing me to laugh loudly. Ash joins our hug with a giant smile plastered on her face just before the rest of the team joins in on a huge group hug. When I managed to break free from the hug, I’m pulled into one more that just included my best friends. “My best friends are goal-scoring badasses,” Sonny says with one of her goofy smiles as Lindsey and I make our way back towards the pitch. I looked around for my girlfriend quickly before we had to get back to the match. She was standing a little off to the side with Kelley, giving me one of her gorgeous smiles. Breathtaking, I swear. “I told you that you were gonna get a goal,” she says to me whenever I walk up to her and Kelley, which only causes me to shake my head at her with a sly grin. “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I respond while rolling my eyes, “You were right. Don’t rub it in, Al.” That caused her, Kelley, and I to laugh while Alex pulled us both in for a quick hug. “Don’t squish me, lovebirds,” Kelley whines quietly, “We’ve still got a match to finish.” When the three of us broke away from our hug, Kelley was giggling like she always does whenever she got her way. Alex and I exchanged a glance, rolling our eyes at our idiot best friend with a laugh. We all made our way back to our positions quickly, just before Thailand put the ball in play again.
After three minutes of play, we are given a free-kick after a foul is called. Normally, Pinoe takes the free kicks whenever Christen isn’t in. That’s what we’re all expecting at least but instead, Jill points at me to take it. Weird. I guess the free-kick I had in the first half made a good impression? After giving Jill a confused look, I walked over and set up for the free-kick. I, once again, look at how everyone was set up and made a quick decision. Lindsey looked like she was in the perfect position to score again, so that’s what I was going with. As the whistle blows, I send the ball in the air towards Lindsey in the box. She gets her head on it and sends it just outside the goal, where Alex volleys it with her right foot into the back of the net.
“This is unbelievable! After the lofty free-kick was sent in by Y/N, Horan gets her head on it in hopes for a header. She falls just short, but Morgan manages to volley the ball in for another USA goal! Alex Morgan has a brace in the USA’s first match of the World Cup tournament! The USA now leads 5-0 in the 53rd minute of play!”
That...was...fucking...beautiful. Like, I’m just in constant shock throughout this whole match. I ran towards my teammates who were hugging my girlfriend, with the biggest smile on my face. After a moment, Alex and I were walking back towards the middle of the pitch. “I told you,” I said with a grin, as she gave me a questioning look, “I told you that you were going to score again. And that was a fucking beautiful goal, Alex.” Her look changed from questioning to a bright smile, almost childlike. “Hmm, I guess you were right for once,” she answers, causing me to give her a fake shocked expression, “This match is crazy. Like, unbelievable is an understatement.” I nod my head before saying, “And it’s not even close to being over yet. Score another one, I dare you.” I was giving her a daring look as she continued walking away from me to her position. She shook her head with a grin and a thumbs-up, “You’re on.” I laughed at her just as I was turning my attention back to the ball. Thailand’s possession is extremely short-lived as Crystal gets the ball back. Crystal moves down the left side of the pitch and sends the ball to Rose. Rose turns and attempts to score, but it’s deflected. To our luck, it’s deflected towards Sammy who sends the ball into the right side of the net.
“Unbelievable, ladies and gentlemen!! The USA took no time at all to get the ball back and score again. Mewis has scored the 6th goal for the USA, making the score 6-0 in the 54th minute!”
I’m gonna lose my voice by the end of this match, I swear. As I watched Sammy score, I yelled at the top of my lungs while sprinting towards my best friend. Lindsey and I get to her at the same time and pull her into a hug while congratulating her on her goal. “Is this really happening right now?!” Sammy says excitedly after we let her go. We both laugh at her and nod our heads while patting her on the back. The stadium hasn’t stopped cheering for what feels like forever. The crowd is literally making the stadium shake with excitement and chants. Fucking music to my ears, I tell you. Two minutes later, Crystal has the ball again and is moving down the left side of the pitch. Sammy was moving along the outside of the box, adjusting herself to where Crystal was. Alex and I were trying to make some space for one of us to be open in the box. As Sammy moved back towards the top of the box, Alex and I were both open in the box. Crystal passes the ball to Sammy, who turns around to see us both open. She sends the ball to the middle of the box, just out of Alex’s reach but definitely in mine. When I get my foot on the ball, it takes me less than a second to send a low shot into the center of the goal.
“Another brace for the USA! Y/N has just scored a brace in the 56th minute after Mewis sent her a pass in the middle of the box! The USA now leads 7-0! This match just keeps getting better and better for the reigning champions!”
Oh my fuck. A fucking brace in the World Cup. Jesus fucking Christ! This time, I didn’t stare at the goal. I didn’t drown out the noise coming from the crowd. I immediately turned around to see my girlfriend’s smiling face as she ran towards me. Just as she got to me, I jumped into her arms and nuzzled my face into the crook of her neck. “Oh my god,” is all I can say while she held me for a moment, laughing at what I said, “This is fucking amazing.” After she sets me down, we’re both pulled into another group hug with a few of our teammates. When the group hug is over, Alex hugs me one last time while whispering in my ear, “I’m so fucking proud of you, baby.” That causes me to blush a little and smile brightly at her. “Thank you, babe,” I say back with my hand covering my mouth from the cameras, causing her to wink at me before we both headed back to the middle of the pitch. As I was making my way back, I saw my number go up. I had a goofy grin on my face whenever I saw who was coming in for me-- Christen. About fucking time. I give her a quick hug and say, “Give ’em hell,” just before she took the field. Rose was also subbed off at the same time as me, to let Carli get some playing time. While I made my way to the bench, I’m stopped by Jill who gives me a hug and says something encouraging. Kinda weird but it’s Jill. When I reached the bench, Ash jumped up and gave me one of her bear hugs. “I’m soooooo proud of you, Y/N,” she says with pure joy in her tone, “A brace. Are you fucking kidding me?!” I laughed at her as I thanked her before taking the seat next to Ali to watch the rest of the half.
The next ten minutes or so of play is mostly just missed shots and missed passing opportunities. Christen had a few here and there, Carli had a lot if I’m being honest here. In the 62nd minute, we get a corner kick that is sent in towards JJ. JJ acts a little too quickly and ends up sending the ball wide and to the right. She just laughs loudly towards Jill as she went back to her position, typical JJ. Mal subbed in during the 67th minute for her and has been trying to make something happen since she stepped on the pitch. During the 72nd minute, Kelley is knocked to the ground by a Thailand player. That causes me to jump up from my seat in an angry rage. “You’ve got to be kidding me right now,” I say through gritted teeth. I’m not the only one who’s pissed off, our whole bench is up and yelling at the ref to card the player. Which, she thankfully does shortly afterwards. “You okay, Smalls?” I yell loud enough for Kelley to hear. She turned towards the bench and gave me a thumbs-up and a grin before turning back to watch the free-kick. After nothing comes from the free-kick, it’s two minutes later when we get the ball back in Thailand’s territory. I watch as Sammy moves from midfield with the ball at her feet and she quickly passes the ball to Christen at the top of the box. Christen watches as Alex and Carli run in a crisscross pattern to get open before passing it to Alex at the right side of the box. We all watched as Alex faked out her defender, causing them to go left, and sent a quick shot across the goal to the far left side of the net.
“Alex Morgan has a hat-trick! After a pass from Press at the top of the box, Morgan sent the ball to the left side of the goal! The USA extends its lead even more to 8-0 in the 74th minute!”
Our whole bench started going insane as we all watched our teammates hug Alex. I was just smiling at her, extremely proud of her in this moment. She looked over at our bench with a gigantic smile plastered on her face. Adorable, like I can’t even explain it fully. The minutes drag on after that goal. The minutes are filled with failed attempts of scoring made by Carli, and multiple stops made by Kelley and Crystal. It’s during the 79th minute whenever we see another chance at scoring. Christen passes the ball to Mal, who plays an early cross towards the goal. We all watch as the ball goes out of Alex’s reach, but manages to find Pinoe. She sends a low, powerful ball into the center of the net.
“And Megan Rapinoe joins the scoring party the USA is throwing! After a cross sent in from Pugh manages to find Rapinoe in the box, she sends a powerful ball into the center of the goal. The USA’s commanding lead has grown to 9-0 in the 79th minute!”
After we saw the ball hit the back of the net, we all moved towards the sideline while we cheered for Pinoe. She was running towards our bench just before sliding on her knees just before she begins mimicking the way Ash stretches her legs as a celebration. This only makes the bench erupt with laughter, especially from Ash. After we all celebrated with her, she went back to her position on the field. “This match is fucking insane,” Ash says with wide eyes, “Like holy fuck!” Ali started laughing at her as she continued talking about how insane this match was. I agree with her. Like I said before, I felt like this match was going to be amazing but I never thought it would be this fucking amazing. Like, it’s mind-blowing watching the match go on and on with us scoring more and more. This is a match we will never forget and it’s still not over...Jesus fucking Christ. In the 81st minute, Crystal has the ball at midfield for a moment before passing the ball to Pinoe. Pinoe moves the ball into the box before stumbling a little. The Thailand defenders move to stop her, which is a mistake because that just leaves Alex wide open in the box. Pinoe sees this and she passes the ball to Alex. Alex quickly reacts by sending the ball into the left side of the net, catching the goalkeeper off guard.
“This is Alex Morgan’s game today! After receiving a pass from Rapinoe at the top of the box Morgan sent in a ball into the left side of the goal. This makes it her 4th goal and the USA’s lead 10-0 in the 81st minute of play! What an amazing match for the whole USA team!”
“Oh...my...god…” is all I can say as I watch Alex count the number of goals she’s scored on her hand while she ran towards the bench. “Aren’t we lucky?” Sonny says with a sly grin as she wiggles her eyebrows at me, “You and your girlfriend are pretty impressive.” I look at her with a small glare as I say, “Thank you, Sonny. But, for fuck’s sake, keep your voice down.” She held her hands up in defense while she laughed at me, which only caused me to laugh with her. Alex hugged everyone quickly before getting to me. She gave me a goofy smile before giving me a quick hug and saying, “See, I told you I’d score another one.” I rolled my eyes at her before saying, “I dared you to score one not two, you goof. I’m so proud of you right now, Alex.” She smiled softly at me before heading back to midfield. “Like I said,” Sonny says a moment later while putting her arm on my shoulder, “You’re lucky. Which I’m sure you already know.” She was giving me a knowing look as she, once again, started wiggling her eyebrows at me. “First off,” I respond, “I do know that, but not in the way you’re suggesting. Mind your own business, Sonny.” She was laughing at this point, probably because she thinks I’m lying to her when I’m really not. Oh well, let her think what she wants.
Three minutes later we have the ball again near midfield in Thailand’s territory. Christen is sent the ball, where she heads it towards Alex. Alex turns with the ball and passes it into the box whenever she sees Mal open. Mal dribbles the ball through the box and around the goalkeeper, who came out way too early to even try to stop her, and scores in the open net.
“Welcome to the World Cup scoring party, Mallory Pugh! Pugh manages to dribble past the goalkeeper after Morgan sent her a pass in the box, to score her first World Cup goal! This commanding lead that the USA has made is only growing more as the score becomes 11-0 in the 84th minute!”
The stadium is absolutely electric right now, it’s unreal. Our celebrations on the bench haven’t stopped since I got subbed out. It’s wild, to say the very least. We watched as Mal was surrounded by our teammates, congratulating her on her first World Cup goal. She looked so happy, it’s heartwarming to know that she’s only just starting out in her career. She’s going to go so far. It’s really great to know that the team is going to be in good hands after the veterans retire and the players like me hang up our jerseys one last time. I’m being way too sentimental right now, let me stop and get back to the match. After a few minutes of back and forth play, Crystal has the ball just past midfield. She sees that Alex is open and chips her a pass. Alex sees a defender coming up to challenge her, so she pops the ball up and over said defender. As she comes around the defender, she stretches her leg out to get a touch on the ball. She gains control of the ball and sends a strong, driving ball into the upper left-hand corner of the goal.
“Alex Morgan has really put on a show for us today! Dunn sent her a pass and she worked a little magic to get past a defender just before sending a powerful ball into the net! Morgan has 5 goals tonight, tying the record for most goals scored in a single World Cup match by one player! The USA now leads 12-0 in the 87th minute!”
Five fucking goals. Wow. What a fucking beast. Alex ran towards the bench after she scored and celebrated with each and every one of us. When she got to me she was smiling from ear to ear. When she pulled me in for a hug she whispered, “That one was for you, baby.” My cheeks immediately turn bright red, which only makes her laugh whenever she pulls away. “You are so fucking attractive right now,” I say quickly and quietly, causing her to laugh more, “Like it’s unreal, babe. I’m so unbelievably proud of you right now.” She gave me a bright smile and a quick wink before Jill made her run back to her spot. “Holy fuck,” I say loud enough for Ali to hear, “Wow, I love her.” Ali started giggling before saying, “Tone it down a little, kiddo. People can hear you...unless you want your secret out in the news.” I looked at her and probably had fear in my eyes because she started giggling more before pulling me in for a hug. “I’m just messing with you,” she says, “Well, at least a little bit.” “Thanks, mom,” I say with a small groan and smile. She laughed even more as we stood there watching the end of the match. After the ref said that there would be extra time added, we all just hope that we can hold Thailand off long enough to keep the score as it is. That worry is short-lived though. After we managed to get the ball in Thailand’s territory one more time, Alex had the ball at the top of the box. She passed the ball to Carli, who took it into the heart of the box. The defenders started moving in on her while she manages to freeze up the goalkeeper long enough to send the ball right past her into the net.
“Carli Lloyd adds to the USA lead in added time! She froze up the goalkeeper and slipped the ball right past her into the back of the net! 13 goals for the USA, unbelievable!”
Thirteen fucking goals. Can you fucking believe it?! Because I’m still trying to process that. Like this match has been a fucking ride. This was the best outcome we could’ve ever asked for. When the final whistle is blown, our whole bench runs out onto the field and hugs our teammates tightly as we cheer loudly. During the hugging and cheering, we also went and talked to the Thailand players. Giving them encouragement and hugging them while telling them to keep their heads up. After I talked to a few of Thailand’s players, my idiot best friends called me over. “Y/N!” Sonny says with one of her giant smiles as I got closer to them, “We fucking did it!” I was laughing at her as she jumped on my back, hugging my neck tightly. Sammy and Lindsey looked around the stadium in awe. “Hey,” I say trying to gain their attention, “Are you two alright? You don’t look like you just won a match in the World Cup.” I set Sonny down while Sammy and Lindsey looked over at me. “It’s just overwhelming,” Lindsey says while rubbing the back of her neck, “Like a good overwhelming.” “Yeah, what she said,” Sammy says after Lindsey finished. I smiled at my best friends before giving them both a hug. “We’re being sappy, aren’t we?” I say to them, causing them to laugh, “Come on we have to get to the locker room before Carli gets on our asses.” That causes all three of them to bolt towards the tunnel while I laugh at them loudly while making my way to the tunnel, at a slower pace. A threat involving Carli always works.
After getting stopped and asked a couple of questions about the match, I finally made it into the locker room. I still haven’t seen Alex since the match ended, probably because she ended up getting Player of The Match. She scored five goals, there’s no way she wouldn’t have gotten that. A no brainer for sure. But, I wanted to celebrate with her. I guess I can wait a little longer. While I waited for her to come in I got changed out of my cleats, socks, and kit into my training shorts and jacket so I could go out with some of the team to sign autographs and talk to my family. “You coming, kiddo?” I hear Ash ask from the doorway with Ali standing next to her a few moments later, “You don’t want to keep Ol’ Debbers and Kyle waiting.” Ali was laughing at what Ash said as she hit her shoulder, “Yeah come on, Y/N. We don’t need mom searching the whole stadium for us.” I rolled my eyes and shook my head with a smile as I got up from my seat. “Yeah, moms,” I answer, “I’m coming, I’m coming.” I’ll just find Alex later, no big deal. As I walked down the tunnel with my moms, Ash slung her arm around my shoulders and said, “You know, I’m really proud of you, Y/N. You seriously kicked some ass today. Didn’t she, Ali?” Ali hummed in response before looking over at me with a bright smile, “You really did, kiddo. We’ve still got a long way to go, but I think we’re in good hands if Jill keeps playing you as much as she has.” I was smiling at both of them while trying to fight back tears. They’ve always been there for me, and they always will be. My moms are probably one of the best things that could’ve ever happened to me. Like I said, I’ll never be able to thank them enough for everything they do for me. “Thanks, moms,” I say as I wrap my arms around both of their waists, causing them to hug me back, “That means a lot to hear that from both of you. I love you both so much.” “We love you too, Y/N,” Ali says while Ash hums in agreement as she kissed the top of my head, “And we always will.” We continued walking out of the tunnel, their arms still around me and mine around them, as we heard the crowd cheer for our team with signs and jerseys filling the lower sections of the stadium.
Alex POV
After doing the post-match interview and getting the Player of the Match, I didn’t really have time to go back to the locker room to change or talk to any of my teammates. Especially my girlfriend. I didn’t see her out on the pitch after the match ended, mostly because I was pulled into interviews almost immediately after talking to a few of Thailand’s players and probably because she and her friends were off acting like children somewhere over our win. I wanted to find her and celebrate with her, since she did so great and because this match was fucking amazing. I wandered around the stadium, signing a few autographs and taking pictures with our fans, for a few minutes while I waited for her to show up. After taking one last picture, that’s when I finally see her. She was with Ali and Ash, signing jerseys and taking pictures. I’m a good distance from them, but I can still hear the echo of fans yelling for a ‘Krashlyn family picture’. I could hear Ash and Y/N beg Ali to take another one over and over as I walked in their direction. Ali would fake groan every time but she always managed to crack a smile before hugging the two of them. While I watched them pose and beg a few more times, all I could do was smile at how happy my girlfriend looked with her moms. When I get closer to them, Y/N notices me and I’m welcomed by one of her bright smiles. “Hey, there you are,” she says while giving me a quick hug, “I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” I gave her a soft smile before hugging Ash and Ali. “Do you mind if I steal her away?” I ask them quietly, “My family has been bugging me about seeing her again.” Ash laughed while she nudged my girlfriend’s shoulder as Ali said, “Yeah, that’s okay with us. Don’t keep her too long though. Mom and Kyle will give us hell if they don’t see her before we head out to dinner.” I laugh while assuring her that she wouldn’t be gone long as Y/N followed me in the direction of my family.
“Y/N!” my mom yells as we reached the section they were waiting in, causing my girlfriend to smile bigger than I’ve seen in a while. “Hi, Mrs. Morgan,” she said as she gave my mom a hug, “It’s nice to see you guys again.” “None of that ‘Mrs. Morgan’ talk,” I hear my mom say with a laugh, “Anyone who makes my daughter smile as much as you do calls me Pamela.” I rolled my eyes with an embarrassed smile, as my family laughed. My mother, ladies and gentlemen. You gotta love her. After we all laughed for a few more moments, Jeni and Jeri came down to the railing. “You two did really great today,” Jeri said with a soft smile, “This is hands down one of my favorite matches I’ve ever seen. You two work really well together.” “I sure hope so,” I answer with a laugh, “Otherwise, that would be a deal-breaker.” That caused Y/N to give me a shocked look before saying, “Hey now. We’ve always played well together, you just never gave me the time of day till now.” She was grinning at me while my sisters let out a collective ‘ooooo’. I hit her arm while saying, “Okay, okay. Let’s not bring up the past. I barely knew anything about you till Kelley got us to actually hangout, for once, outside of the pitch. I definitely give you the time of day now, you goof.” Y/N was slightly blushing as she smiled at me. “Oh, yes,” my mom said a moment later, breaking me out of the trance caused by Y/N’s eyes, “That reminds me. I need to thank Kelley for getting you two together the next time I see her.” Oh god. I rolled my eyes at my mom while Y/N laughed as I said, “Yeah, okay. You do that, mom.” After my family laughed at my reaction to the ridiculousness coming from my mom, Y/N looked over at Jeni. “By the way, Jeni,” she said, “Where’s my favorite girl?” Jeni laughed as she looked over at her husband, who handed her Liv. “Here she is,” Jeni said as she handed Liv to Y/N, “She’s been waiting to see you all day.” I watched as Liv hugged on Y/N, making my heart melt on the spot. “Sorry, Al,” Y/N said with a sly grin, “You’re second when it comes to Liv. I mean, look at her. She’s adorable, and I’m her favorite soccer player. So fair is fair.” She was laughing after she finished which only caused Liv to laugh as well. She is adorable, so I can’t be too mad about being second to her. “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I say as I fake rolled my eyes while I kissed the top of Liv’s head, “I guess I’m okay with being second best. You’re also not just her favorite soccer player, you know?” That gained an ‘aww’ from my mom and sisters while Y/N gave me a soft smile. “Is it okay if I walk around the pitch with her for a few minutes, Jeni?” Y/N asked while rocking Liv back and forth in her arms. Jeni told her it was okay with her and Y/N gave her a quick thank you and reassured that they wouldn’t be gone for too long before she and Liv headed towards the middle of the pitch.
While we watched Y/N play with Liv on the pitch, I couldn’t help but think about the future I could have with her. I imagine us having our own family together sometime soon in the future, after we both put away our cleats for the last time. She’s so great with Liv and that only makes me think about how she would be with her own kids, our kids. This is hopeful thinking because I didn’t know if she wanted all of that with me. I think she does, but we’re still in the early stages of our relationship so it would be a little too much too soon to be talking about this kind of stuff. But it doesn’t hurt to think about it to myself. “Alex,” I hear Jeri say from behind me, “What’s got you thinking so hard?” I was still grasping on to the thought of a future with my girlfriend while I gave her, Jeni and my mom a soft smile, “It’s not important. Just thinking about stuff…” “Stuff being Y/N?” Jeni asked with a knowing look, “I see the way you look at her, Alex. The way you look at her when she’s playing with Liv… You love her, more than you loved Servando. We can all see how happy she makes you. Watching you two interact, it’s like you were made for each other. You want a future with her...you just don’t know it yet.” Damn. Went right for my feels, didn’t she? It’s like she was reading my mind, typical Jeni. As I stood there and looked at the three most important women in my life, all I can see is support and caring smiles. “You know, Jeni,” I say with a smirk and a crooked eyebrow, “It’s kind of creepy when you read my mind. Actually, I have been thinking about --” “Hey, Alex,” Y/N interrupts, causing me to turn around with a slightly panicked look on my face, “Ali just called, we gotta go. The team’s waiting for us to go to the hotel for dinner.”  I nodded towards her before turning back to my family and gave them each a hug. When I hugged Jeni she whispered, “We’re not done talking about this, Alexandra.” I looked at her and gave her a soft smile before I stepped back so Y/N could hand Liv back to her and tell my family goodbye for now. While we walked away, Y/N said, “I’ll meet you at the bus, babe. I have to go talk to Debbers and Kyle real quick. I won’t be too long, I promise.” When I told her that was okay and watched her jog over to the Krieger-Harris crowd, I was brought back to the thought of a future with her.
That’s what I want, a future that has her in it…
Forever.

Relax - Abby Dahlkemper Imagine
Tumblr media
(Y/N) POV
“(Y/N) wake up.” I groaned and buried my face further into the pillows as my girlfriend continued shaking me in an effort to wake me up.
“No…” I complained as she laughed slightly.
“Come on…” she said as I turned my head slightly to look at her. She was grinning down at me as I turned my face back into the pillows. “We need to get ready. I don’t know if you have forgotten but there is a game today and we are both starting so let’s go.”
“ugh, fine.” I said turning and throwing the covers off of me, but purposely throwing them onto her.
“Ass.” I grinned at her blowing her a kiss as I started getting ready for the day.
By the time we made it down for breakfast, the defender seemed pretty done with my antics. It’s not that I was trying to annoy her, but it was fun to mess with her from time to time. We sat down with Sam and them as we discussed the game. We would be playing against Costa Rica in a friendly which should be a great game.
“Are you excited?” Sam asked as I nodded my head. I didn’t typically start games so getting to start this one was a huge deal.
“Yeah, I am excited to show what I can do.” I said earning a fond smile from Abby. I winked at her and continued eating breakfast.
Once we departed from the hotel, I sat next to Abby who seemed to be trying to focus. She was definitely the type of person to get into a certain headspace before a game. I respected it, but it wasn’t for me. I liked relaxing and going with the flow. Sometimes, I would mess with her, but today was a game day and I didn’t want to mess up her routine.
Once we made it to the stadium, everything seemed to pass by quickly as we went through pre-game rituals and warmups. Before I knew it, we were standing in the tunnel. I was sandwiched between JJ and Alex. I was a little more focused as I tried to get into game mode.
“Are you ready?” I turned towards Alex and nodded my head.
“Are you?” she grinned at me as we started to walk out.
We went through the anthems and starting eleven pictures before making our way out onto the field. I was starting in the midfield alongside JJ and Rose. Abby was in the backline with Becky, Crystal, and Kelley. Alex was up top with Christen and Tobin. It wasn’t a terrible lineup, so I fancied our chances of winning.
The game got off to a slow start as we all tried to find our feet. It was about trying to get into sync with each other which seemed to happen pretty quickly. I noticed that most of the Costa Rican players were being a bit too aggressive which was throwing some of us off. You can’t really start a play if you’re being knocked down as soon as you get the ball.
The first half ended up scoreless and left everyone extremely frustrated. We had a few opportunities, but nothing much else. Only one opposing player had been carded so I couldn’t help but feel a little angry over that. There should have been a few more cards handed out to the other team. Alex and Tobin seemed to be there main targets, but I took a few heavy hits too.
“Are you okay?” Abby asked with a  concerned look.
“Yeah, just a little frustrated…” I mumbled as she nodded her head.
“Well, you played great. You really are doing incredible out there. I am very proud.” She said shooting me a supportive smile. I smiled in return before sitting down and listening to Vlatko’s speech.
We made our way back out onto the field for the second half. Things continued much the same as the first half. Though, it seemed to have got much worse. There was one moment in the 76th minute when I had got a pass from Abby. I looked up for just a moment to see who was open as I sent a through pass to Alex. I hadn’t noticed the Costa Rican player coming in for a late tackle. At least not until my feet were swept out from under me. I yelped in pain as I felt a sharp sensation in my ankle. I heard the whistle get blown as I laid there clutching my ankle.
“Fuck…” I mumbled over and over to myself as I tried to will the pain away.
“(Y/N)! Oh my god…are you okay?” Abby said coming over and bending down next to me. I shook my head as she rubbed soothing circles on my back. I tried to focus in on my teammates who were talking with the ref instead of the pain in my ankle.
“Abby…step back.” The medical trainer said as Abby reluctantly moved to give them space.
They started working on me before deciding it was better for me to exit the game. I was helped up and walked off the pitch before making my way to the locker room. I sat up on one of the tables as they took a look at my ankle. A long assessment later and it was determined that it wasn’t broken, but definitely sprained.
“We will have you get an X-ray done just to make sure, but I definitely think it is just sprained.”
“Greeeaaaat.” I mumbled sarcastically as they shot me a slightly amused look.
It wasn’t long before teammates of mine were shuffling into the locker room. Each of them came to check up on me as I talked quietly with them. I watched in slight amusement as Abby came running into the locker room and ran straight to me. She threw her arms around me dramatically as she hugged me tightly.
“Oh my god. I was so worried. Are you okay? Is your ankle okay? Is it broken?” she asked about a thousand questions as I grinned at her.
“They said they don’t think it’s broken. Just sprained. I am fine.” I said as she gave me a look.
“Are you sure?” she questioned giving me a soft look. “You don’t have to act tough. It’s okay to say you’re not okay.”
“Oh my god. Relax. I am fine.” I said scowling at the defender who shook her head at me.
“Are you sure? Because-”
“Abby!” I groaned as the defender quieted down. “Seriously, I am okay. I’m better now that you’re here, but you’re gonna stress me out if you don’t relax.”
“Okay, I am sorry…I just worry.”
“I know, but I am fine. Just a sprain. I’ll be better in no time.” I said as she gave me a soft look. She leaned forward giving me a kiss.
“Oh, look at you guys and your PDA.” Pinoe teased as we both rolled our eyes.
“Go away.” I said as the girl grinned at me. I wrapped my arm around Abby’s waist and rested my head on the defender’s shoulder as she rubbed soothing circles on my back.
“I’m glad you’re okay.” She mumbled as I smiled.
“Me too.” I said kissing the side of her neck. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.” She responded pulling away slightly and giving me a loving smile.
The End.

Pino and Gretel (1/1)
As requested by @oceanspray5 a fic about Pino and Gretel which I had a lot of fun writing! This just covers breaking their curse so I didn’t go too much into depth with their main story. Inspired by the art of sleepy-lion-king and based off mine.
Also if you’re wondering what happened specifically between Hans and Gretel, see this short post/art.
---
“I’m glad you two made up,” Arthur sat down next to his friend, “it’s important for family to stick together.” “Thank you. I’m glad she’s back in my life again.” he smiled and looked over to his sister. Gretel was happily chatting with Audrey and Snow near the far end of where they had all camped. After shutting her out for several years and all of the pain she had to endure alone, Hans was happy she was smiling again.
He couldn’t undo what he did in the past, but he could at least try to fix it by sticking by her side. “And then during her wedding…” Snow spoke while laughing, “Her shoe broke just before she was about to walk down the aisle! Your brother and I had to help Audrey fix it before they could open the doors, and the crowd had to wait for like, twenty minutes!” “Snow, stop!” Audrey playfully pushed her and covered her face. “But uh..yeah it’s true. It was embarrassing, but it’s a funny story to tell at parties.” she chuckled.
Gretel smiled, “Getting married after a year, how could you be so sure of the one person you’ll spend the rest of your life with?” she genuinely asked. Snow and Audrey thought, “I kinda just knew.” Snow started, “When I proposed to Merlin it wasn’t just on a whim, I thought about it long and hard, and Merlin is the one person who truly loves me for who I am, no matter what I look like. He didn’t prefer Red Shoes nor Snow White, just me.” she smiled at the memory.
Gretel nodded, “Audrey?” she turned to her. Audrey thought about it for a while. “Well, I’ll tell you one thing now, Gret,” she looked at her. “Love at first sight doesn’t exist.” Audrey stated flatly. “Real love takes time, love takes work. At the very least you have to know that person well enough. If you don’t, then do you really love them? Or the person you see them to be?” Gretel and Snow looked at her.
Audrey widened her eyes and put her hands up, “Ah! Sorry I didn’t mean to get all philosophical! To answer your question…” she looked sideways, “True, contradictory to what I said, Jack proposed only 6 months after we met, but in those 6 months we’ve been through a lot together. There’s really no ‘right time’ set for all couples, each one is unique. You just know when they’re the one really.” she concluded smiling.
“And, also the fact that we were the one who broke their curses, sooo…” Snow high-fived Audrey to which Gretel laughed. “Each is unique huh..” she whispered to herself. The sun was starting to set and Gretel told Audrey and Snow she wanted to go for a walk, to which they nodded and continued their own conversation.
As she walked through the trees with golden leaves, she began to think about the past days. After finding her brother again (only to see that he had become short and green) she managed to reconcile with him. Although it was begrudgingly, they got there somehow. If she was honest she wouldn't have gotten there without the help of his friend who was also under the same curse as him.
Gretel walked by the river and saw a small bridge up ahead. She looked closer and saw someone sitting on the edge of it, moving his hands around a metal contraption. She smiled and quickened her pace, “Pino,” she called out. The inventor whipped his head to his left and grinned immediately. “Gretel, what are you doing out here?” “Just taking a walk, what are you working on?” she crouched down to his level.
“Something I made to help me find buried things,” he said while twisting the screw driver. “I call it-” “A metal detector?” Gretel cocked her head. Pino stared at her for a bit before nodding rapidly, “Yup, yup. Metal detector. Better name, definitely what I was gonna call it.” Gretel giggled to which Pino did the same. He then patted his hand on the space next to him and she sat next to him.
“It’s a good thing you made up with Hans, I’m really happy for you two, good job.” Pino said. Gretel shook her head, “You know we only made up because of you right?” He scrunched his face, “Me?” “I mean, yeah,” she nodded, “I wasn’t willing to forgive him at first, but you came and talked to me every chance you got,” Although she couldn’t see it, Pino raised his eyebrows and averted his gaze as he rubbed the back of his head, “Sorry, did I bother you too much?”
“On the contrary! Our talks are one of the happiest I’ve had in my life. The advice you would give me about how important siblings are, your stories with Noki and Kio, your love for your brothers really inspired me to make peace with mine. It’s really all thanks to you, Pino. I couldn’t have done it without you.” his mouth slightly opened as he listened to her in awe before he nervously chuckled, “N-not at all, it’s no problem! I’ll always be there to help you when you need it.”
“Really?” Gretel eyes widened. Pino looked at her again and saw through her lenses, that her eyes were almost quite literally sparkling. ‘Beautiful..’ he thought before speaking, “Of course...over the past few days you’ve become quite an important person to me. I value you too much.” he spoke honestly.
Something lit inside Gretel’s chest when he heard those words, “Thank you, Pino...you’ve become important to me too..” she softly spoke. Pino swore he could die of happiness right ten and there. They two of them were like that for a bit, and he started to feel a bit nervous.
“So, you want me to show how this works?” He quickly grabbed his work. Gretel nodded; she rested her head on her hand and just smiled as she looked at Pino talking, fumbling with the device. His words weren’t quite reaching her ears as she stared at him in complete admiration. Not just for his genius mind, but for his personality that made her fall for him-
Oh…
...She fell for him…?
(Song to be played! highly recommended to listen!)
Gretel's smile fell for a bit as she came to terms with the new information she just told herself. She suddenly felt hot as she felt her neck and forehead. Excitement, nervousness? Whatever it was she made a quick recovery and Pino’s words came to light again. “...and the switch here has been malfunctioning a bit but I think I managed to fix it.” he looked at it seriously before standing up, “We should try it on the sand over there, maybe it will work there,” “Pino?” He turned around still talking “Yeah I know, it might not be accurate as soil but-”
And then he felt something warm on his lips. Instinctively he had closed his eyes, ‘What...did she..?’ and then the warmness overtook his body as he saw the color gold through his eyelids. Gretel slowly opened her eyes and gasped as she stood back up. His body had a golden glow that lasted for a few seconds before it died down. Gretel put a hand over her mouth in shock to what appeared before her.
Pino’s hat had fallen on the bridge’s surface, and standing before Gretel was a boy with fluffy light blond hair. The boy raised his hands as he looked at them, “Wha..” he breathed out. He touched his arms and then put a hand to his cheek before his face turned to a hopeful smile. “I’m human..?” and then Gretel saw it for the first time. His sapphire blue eyes that had tears on their edges. “Gretel..you..you broke my curse!” he beamed.
Tumblr media
“I-I did?” she stuttered out. She had kissed him on impulse but she didn’t think that it would break his curse. Nonetheless the feelings that have been buried in her chest exploded. “You’re human again..!” she slowly smiled. Pino laughed through his tears and ran up to the red haired girl. He lifted her up and spun her around as they both laughed. Once he had put her down, Gretel was once more entranced by his beautiful eyes, she wondered why he insisted on hiding them.
“You love me?” he asked, smiling. Now that she could actually see his full face she started to see how attractive and charming he actually was. Of course he was..he is part of the F7. “I do…” she softly spoke, averting her gaze as she shyly smiled, “Do you-” “I do.” he quickly held her hands and nodded. His happy smile appeared again as he went in for one more kiss.
---
“So..how are we gonna tell them?” Pino asked. They were just a few feet from the group, who had lighted a campfire they all sat around. “Um..” Gretel thought for a bit. “Just follow my lead.” and he nodded. She walked up ahead to the group as Pino followed a few steps behind her. Noki laughed as he told a story before he took a double look at the pair ahead of him. He immediately stopped talking and nudged his younger brother, “What-oh..” Kio stared. The pair looked and their eldest brother. The rest had wondered what they were looking at before they followed their gaze.
There was a gasp from someone. Silence. Gretel was about to speak before she froze up from all the eyes. “Er..”
“Did you guys-?” Merlin asked
“Yeah,” Pino slowly nodded.
Jack pointed his finger out to Gretel “And were you the one-”
“Yup,” she popped the last letter.
Snow followed, “Since when did you two-”
“Over the past few weeks,” Pino shrugged.
“Oh my god, I’m gonna cry, that's so cute,” Audrey gasped as she clung onto Jack’s arm, who was equally in shock.
“You did it!” Noki and Kio ran up to their brother, who crouched down and gave them a happy hug. “Gretel..!” Hans stood up and hugged his sister. The group cheered and applauded.
Hans smiled happily as he watched. Arthur went up to him once more, “Well you’re taking this well.” he put her arm around his shoulder. Hans laughed, “What do you mean?” “Well, she was the one who broke his curse.” “And?” Arthur chuckled, “Mate, he kissed your sister.” Hans’ eyes had widened a considerable amount, enough to creep Arthur out to back away from him, as there was still a smile on Hans’ face.
“You kissed my sister?!” Hans, pushed himself through the group. They stared at him, “Well, of course they kissed, how did you think his curse got broken?” Jack raised an eyebrow. “Hans..” Gretel eyed him with warning. “You, young lady, I thought I said no boyfriend till married!”
“?!”
“Hans what the hell does that even mean!?” Gretel crossed her arms as she looked down on him, literally. “Don’t talk back to your brother, and you!” his eyes went to Pino. “Um…” he stepped back a bit. “How dare you advance on her. Sterben dummkopf!” he jumped up and latched himself onto his head, attacking him with whatever means possible.

And the Favorite is...- USWNT Imagine.
Tumblr media
I got this ask:  Hey I read your fic with R being Krashlyn's kid and it was pretty good. Can you do another one? Where R always shows up in someone's insta story like dancing with Sonnet, scaring someone with Kelly, going out for breakfast with Press or playing some kind of games with Tobin? Like how she interacts with her crazy and overprotective aunts. And I ran with it. I hope you like it, dear anon!
You can find the first part here.
I am totally biased, I hope you don’t mind.
The Olympics inauguration is only a couple of days away. It’s the time when nerves grow before disappearing at the ceremony, but your time is filled with so much activity that you don’t even have time to be nervous.
Your team is great and practice is always fun although you can’t wait for the first game. The excitement grows, the pressure builds, and you’re actually ready for your first Olympics.
In order to keep you distracted, your parents have found a thousand games for you to try. Your family isn’t exactly conventional, and those games are far from being board ones. You have to experience a new city in the company of the USWNT while getting information, playing pranks or doing certain things with them to win the game.
You don’t mind it one bit. You love all your crazy aunts. Hanging out with them is a fun way to discover the magic of a new country. They don’t keep you from getting lost. They just get lost with you. Thank God technology is a thing and the GPS has saved your life.
“Here’s another one!” Ash exclaims. “Who gives the best hugs?”
Currently, you’re sitting in bed between your parents while they livestream. Their fans are happy to see how you interact with them, and they don’t miss the chance to ask you stuff about them and the Krashlyn adventures in Tokyo.
“Ma,” you say pointing at Ali. “Her hugs are warm and soft. But mom’s are great too; rib-wrecking and yet can’t say no to them.”
A chuckle escapes your lips when both of them hug you at the same time. Ash kinda proves your point; making you grunt when she squeezes a little too tight. The smile never leaves your lips; much less when they decide to kiss your cheeks at the same time.
It’s embarrassing, but you do nothing to stop them.
Finally, they settle down and you shake your head in amusement.
They’re supposed to be the parents.
“Oh! I gotta go,” you announce mostly to the camera. “Pinoe must be waiting for me. Please, don’t embarrass yourselves or me more than you’ve done.”
“Can’t promise that, kiddo.“
Maybe it would be easier to leave if your parents didn’t cling to you like koalas while remind you to take care and call them if you need anything. You struggle for another minute before they finally relent. Then, they go back to their livestream while you put on your shoes.
“Here’s another one!” You hear Ash through the door, but don’t stay long enough to discover what is the next question.
Pinoe is waiting for you, and you find her with ease thanks to the pink hair.
Sonny and the others like to tease her about it, but you like her style. Not everyone can rock it like she does, but you’re gonna try to challenge the odds with a crazy hair color as well. Not pink, but probably just as outstanding. Blue, purple, orange, silver...you haven’t decided yet.
However, this day is all about make-overs, courtesy of Megan Rapinoe.
“Sorry I’m late,” you say when you make it to her side,
“I thought those two would keep you forever.”
She shows you her phone where you can see your parents throwing their teammates’ names around to answer God knows what question. You don’t have enough time to figure it out before Pinoe puts her phone in her pocket and offers you a pair of shades.
People assume she isn’t the most affectionate person; usually more compossed than the rest of the USWNT, but that’s not the case. Maybe she’s not as open with physical displays, but she expresses herself in other ways. Spending time around the city always means she spoils you like crazy. And no, that’s not the reason you love spending time with her.
Ash loves her for a reason, and you can see exactly why.
Being around Pinoe means not thinking about the Olympics for a bit, even when you can’t understand a single neon sign around you.  It’s all about fashion in ways other than clothes. Your hair ends up in a crazy color that looks amazing on you. It won’t be that visible under the helmet while you play, but you feel empowered by it.
Then, Pinoe gets you the perfect clears for your first game in a couple of days. You can’t wait to show them off, so both of you take a picture in front of the mirror in true Pinoe style.
A few hours later, when you’re back on your room, the pic comes up on your Instagram with a simple comment: #FavoriteAunt.
It makes you chuckle, but you like the post anyway.

“Y/n, Y/n! Come here. Hurry!”
You comply without thinking when Kelley motions for you to hide next to a trash can. She’s already recording, and that can only mean one thing.
“Who’s our victim?”
She’s about to prank someone and you’re always up for it. Mischief is clear on your eyes when you look at her behind the camera.
“Allie is about to come up.”
Of course. It had to be Allie of all people.
You’ve scared her over a hundred times, but it’s always fun to make her jump. Thinking about it, camp wouldn’t be the same without Kelley scaring the ever-loving socks off Allie Long, or any other poor soul she has as a target.
“You want to do it?” She asks although she knows the answer already.
“Hell yeah!”
“Language, kid!” She admonishes just for the show while beaming at you.
It takes barely ten seconds for Allie to walk down the corridor. She’s focused on her phone; giving you the perfect opportunity to strike.
You wait just for another second; letting her get closer before jumping and screaming as loud as you can. She screams back at you in total panic; her phone almost thrown at your face in a defensive reflex. It’s a good thing you have her a new phone case that actually protects her phone or it would be down for the count by now.
Kelley is laughing like crazy behind you, and so are you.
That doesn’t stop you from retrieving the launched phone, handing it over to Allie and pressing a kiss to her cheek.
“Love you,” you say smugly.
“You’re lucky I love you too or I would get you back for this,” she answers while pulling you in for a hug. “Now you, O’Hara, are a different story.”
“You don’t love me?” She asks Allie with that big mocking grin. “I’m the favorite aunt!”
“No, you’re not.” The blonde argues. “I’m the favorite.”
Kelley is still recording, and you’re sure she won’t be able to post all of that at once.
But you don’t know what started the whole favorite aunt debate and by now, you’re afraid to ask. So, while they’re still arguing over it, you make a silent escape.
However, when you see the whole thing posted all over social media later, you can’t help but like it and post a heart emoji directed at both of them. They don’t ask about it directly, so you don’t give an answer either.
The fans are going crazy when the entire soccer National Team jumps into the conversation. Everyone wants to know your answer, but you like to see them fight over that. It’s never too serious, so there’s no shame in enjoying the show.
You don’t make further comments, and all they can do is settle for the night.
It’s a good thing because you have a game to win the next day.
***
Your first victory is exhilarating, but your celebration is quite reserved. You’re on there to win just a game, and although it’s a great feeling to do so, you’re aiming for the gold.
Your nerves were gone as soon as you stepped up to the plate for your first at-bat. Your parents were right about it, and having the entire USWNT cheering for you brought the best out of the entire softball team. The greatest team is there for you; the next generation of golden athletes, and you’re ready to play the part.
After celebrating with ice cold Gatorade, you hang out on your parents’ room.
Playing Smash Bros on your switch with some of your teammates seems like the perfect way to unwind. After a few rounds, you opt to play Mario Kart instead, and you know exactly who would love to join the party.
Tobin calls you after accepting the invite. It’s not that she has a lot to say but because you love hearing her ramble and fight the game when things don’t go her way.
You send a blue shell after her and laugh when she groans in defeat. You don’t have to be in the same room to have a great time with Tobin. She’s amazing.
“You want to have dinner with Chris and me?”
“You getting me ice cream?”
“Fried ice cream if you hurry up.”
“On my way!”
You’d feel bad about ditching your parents, but they have plans with the rest of the team. They’d love it if you’d join them, but there’s no guarantee to make it back before curfew if you go with them. So, after letting them know you’re joining Press and Tobes for dinner, you’re on your merry way.
Dinner is spectacular and Christen smiles the entire time.
It’s not a surprise that the entire world is in love with her. She lets you try from her plate and shares your excitement over dessert while Tobin snaps a thousand pictures of the moment. It’s the perfect way to end the day; with an extra selfie where the three of you smile at the camera.
That’s the picture you post to thank them for an amazing night.

The Olympics advance and you try to follow as many events as you can while still being focused on your discipline.
It seems like forever before the USWNT faces their first match.
Your coach gives you permission to go to the match, and the world is ready to see if you’re wearing the jersey of your favorite aunt. You’re not sure why there’s so much expectation considering your parents are also part of the team. In your mind, wearing one of their jerseys is the way to go. And you make your way into the stands wearing the Krieger one.
You wear Ash’s number with your team, and well...you’re Harris too. So, you decided to switch for once. Watching Ali beam makes you happy, and you cheer them on with all your heart. The shouting never stops until your throat is sore and they come on top with their first victory. The atmosphere in the stadium is crazy, and you love every second of it.
It’s hard to tell what happened after that, but you make it to the Olympic Village on JJ’s arms. She’s stronger than anyone could imagine, and it’s shocking when she throws you over to A.D. as if you weighed nothing.
Speaking of strong women…
Every few feet you are in the arms of someone different until you make your way to Naeher. You can see the hint of a smirk on her lips and that makes you smile.
“Thanks for the save,” you say. “Pun totally intended. You were amazing out there.”
A nod is your answer before someone is calling for your attention.
“So,” Mal starts and you know the question before it leaves her lips. “Who’s the favorite aunt?”
“Not you, sorry.” You reply playfully while sticking your tongue out to her. “You’re too young, Rose and T. are the same. You’re more like my cousins.”
Everyone thinks of you as the kids even if you’re not an official part of the team. You’re okay with that, even when they’re overprotective most of the time.
“How did this whole thing start?”
“Livestream,” all of them reply at the same time.
The roll of your eyes is a given. Of course a fan question caused havoc among the USWNT. This has been fun, but they can keep going for ages, and it’s time to stop.
“If it started like that, then maybe it should end with another livestream.”
A deep silence settles over the entire team, and you realize that your inner thoughts were said out loud. It’s too late to backtrack because Kelley, Pinoe and Ash exchange a look before storming out.
“Mom, wait!” You call after Ash, but they’re already gone. “Oh no.”
Alyssa puts you down in case you want to follow them. There’s no real point. You won’t be able to convince them of not doing the livestream right at that moment. Instead, you allow Sonny to guide you through the corridors until you make it to your room.
To no one’s surprise, they already have half the things ready.
With a huff, you take your place in the middle of your bed while every single aunt takes a place wherever they can. Sam ends up on the floor next to Rose. Ali pats your shoulder and takes a seat in the other bed so you can deal with this madness.
Once everyone is seated, Kelley starts the broadcast with: “You know what we’re here for.”
“First of all,” you interrupt before she can say more. “I don’t know who you are, or where are you from, but for the person asking that, you have no idea of the utter chaos you provoked.”
With a glare to the camera, you return your attention to Kelley who only laughs at your words. She’s so damn crazy, and that’s one of the many reasons you love her.
“Come on, Y/n! You’re killing us.” Pinoe says from the corner. “Who’s the favorite aunt?”
“And the favorite aunt is...”
You pause for dramatic effect while you scan the room trying to find her. Then, the moment prolongs because you can’t find her between all the familiar faces.
“Wait, where is she?”
Everyone turns; counting heads and thinking about who is missing. Confusion grows until the door opens and the missing piece enters with a sheepish smile.
“Sorry, I’m late.”
“I knew it!” Kelley exclaims with a triumphant air fistbump.
“Of course you did. I told you before,” Alex says in the most nonchalant tone she can muster. “Y/n said it at her birthday party, remember? You got there late because your plane was delayed, but everyone else was there.”
“I thought it was just because she got you cake!” Sonny exclaims.
“The cake was just a bonus.”
“Why are you late anyway?” JJ asks Alex while the blonde holds you and refuses to let anyone else close to you.
“Well, I went for a blue one.”
“Swap?” You asks excitedly and Alex nods.
You can’t move when JJ holds you so tightly, but that’s okay. Alex takes the empty space between your legs while she puts her jersey over you. Blue is the kit you like the most, and Alex made sure to sign it for you.
In all honesty, you love them all.
They’re your family, weird as they are.
