Harteveest are an amazing group of antelope, some are highly endangered anx others are rebounding. Windy Corner
7th July 2019
We had 600kms between us and Windhoek and with Tanya and Liad landing at 14:00 from London (via JHB for a week) we decided to meet at Joe’s Public Beer House in Windhoek before heading off to our lodge for the night.. I don’t know how I messed it up, but I guess thinking Windhoek was a tiny windy little corner and that everything would be really close was my first mistake. So there sits Matt and I waiting and waiting at Joe’s for what felt like forever. I don’t know what I was thinking but Joe’s was about a 40 minute cab ride from the airport (or more) and the accommodation was like a 5 minute drive from there. I felt SO BAD that they drove right past the lodge and came all the way to town.. but least they got to go to Joe’s which did not disappoint. And everyone got to have their first ice cold Windhoek in Windhoek.
Around about this time Tunz was also starting to feel bad, when we had to try load their luggage into an already overloaded car. It was going to be a tight squeeze for the next five days - but also made it a fun part of the adventure.
The reason I had booked at Ondekaremba was because I wanted to go to another lodge nearby to have the experience of star gazing with San Bushmen at N/a’ankuse . That didn’t work out though because it was only for that lodge’s guest. I definitely want to go back to Windhoek and volunteer at this place one day during the holidays. It looks incredible (click underlined name for websites).
