The character being Carlisle. I can’t imagine him making himself a family if he had a wife and a child who were both happy with the life they had all together.
What changed my mind was being able to openly discuss characters and my personal interpretations of them with someone who is now a very dear friend of mine. @adrieunor
HI HI ADRIE I KNOW YOU ARE READING THIS POST NOW UWU
But they shared their head canons and their interpretations and together we kind of made new ones too? And as we both kind of shifted each other's takes through good faith conversations I just kind of realized I couldn't find myself earnestly writing Carlisle in that same way.
The way being: Him making the other Cullens when he has a wife and child who are both happy in their immortal life.
After all, he made Edward -in canon- cause he was lonely and wanted someone like minded to share his way of life with. In OYH, why would he risk EVERYTHING by changing a stranger when he already had a like minded wife and a child who ate human food?

What makes writers to abandon their fic for a long time or forever? I know two other authors who wrote a huge amount for a certain fandom. Then they left their last fic. One of them left their fic at 10/11 chapters. I am not trying to "blame" anyone. But I am trying to understand. Why would someone leave a story so close to be finished yet unfinished?
It's called "People aren't entitled to your work you do for fun"
That's it. That's all. Adults get busy, move on, or even start other projects that are original and more important to their fulfillment than just something they did for fun as a hobby for a bit.
As for my personal reasons for abandoning fic. My only abandoned work is The "Open Your Heart" Series. Everything else is on hiatus due to my own reasons that you are also not entitled to.
BUT! I am nice and I will tell you why I abandoned OYH anyways. To put it simply, my head canons changed. My view of certain characters shifted making it so that I no longer felt I could write them genuinely in that circumstance. The character being Carlisle. I can't imagine him making himself a family if he had a wife and a child who were both happy with the life they had all together.
And that's all. That's my personal opinion that you can't change and you don't have to understand.
I know this is about SoG though. Everything I ever get is about SoG. I get comments on completely different fics asking if SoG is abandoned. And the answer to that is this:
Closure is a myth. Nobody is entitled to anything about anyone else.
