Red Snapper - Live at The Moth Club
‘Live at The Moth Club’, the follow up to 2022’s acclaimed ‘Everybody Is Somebody’ long player, features nine tracks from a vast and impressive back catalogue on Warp Records and Lo Recordings and captures perfectly the energy of their celebrated sold out London show from May 2022 in Hackney. With an incredible and genre bursting career that spans nearly thirty years, the new album demonstrates the band’s ability to constantly rework classic and new tracks, keeping them impassioned, experimental and relevant. The collection includes a version of ‘Suckerpunch’ which originally appeared on their 1998 album ‘Making Bones’ and will now be released as a single on the 15th of September 2023. Notorious for casting convention aside, and remaining one of the UK’s most forward thinking and rule breaking live bands, Red Snapper embrace a unique blend of live, euphoric Afro-Jazz, Future Funk, Dub, Dark Hip-Hop and fragile soundscapes. To coincide with the new live album release Red Snapper have announced a short UK tour. The band line up of Ali Friend (Double Bass, Vocals and Gato drum), Rich Thair (Drums), Tom Challenger (Sax, Clarinet and Keyboards), Tara Cunningham (Guitar and Vocals), Natty Wylah (Vocals) will be returning to some of their favourite venues as well as adventuring to new territories. The seven dates commence at The Jam Jar in Bristol on the 2nd of November and wind up with a London show at Rich Mix in Bethnal Green on Saturday the 18th of November.

Excellent compilation from start to finish from Síbín, one of my favourite new collectives/communities, and all proceeds go to two vital organisations – The Black Curriculum and Blackfriars Settlement. Press play to hear cutting-edge new music from Fatima, KwAkE, Natty Wylah, Joe Armon-Jones, Wu Lu, Anja Ngozi and many more. It’s an outstanding collection of excellent music, so clicking buy is a no-brainer.

UK emcee Natty Wylah newest single "WHOAMI" is an unapologetic look at self-identification, social prejudice, and cultural stereotypes. As a mixed-heritage (Chinese-British) artist, he shows the listener the challenges he faces as he tries to come to terms with his identity. Backed by a broody

Manik MC & Natty Wylah - Blue Afternoons
The 22-year-old Londoner is quietly gathering friends in high places, attracting lovers of poetry and hip-hop, with his deft lyricism, intricate wordplay and honest wisdom beyond his years. 'Blue Afternoons' is the next video to come from his debut EP, 'Midnight Express', which includes collaborations with UK heavyweights Jehst, Loyle Carner and Rebel Kleff.
“The track is a portrait of growing up in London,” Manik tells Clash. Featuring his longtime friend Natty Wylah, Manik explains that ‘Blue Afternoons’ is a return to more care-free times; a reminder that life doesn’t always have to seem so complicated. “I can be quite nostalgic, and you can hear that in the beats I choose. ['Blue Afternoons'] is a reflection on the times that shaped where I am now, as an artist and an individual.”
With testing times ahead, nostalgia often presents itself as a remedy. Watch ‘Blue Afternoons’ above. Source: Clash

DIDDLY SQUAT from Frank Lebon on Vimeo.
A film about home.
"In this hyperkinetic short drama, a young couple in need of shelter breaks into a rundown South London carpentry studio only to find themselves in an escalating faceoff with the building’s owner… Told from the perspective of both the squatter and the squatted, Diddly Squat pulls off an electrifying style combining live action, still photos and animation." Red Snapper - Everybody Is Somebody - first album since 2014 out today, super grooves
Red Snapper's most potent album since Prince Blimey, ‘Everybody Is Somebody’ is a glorious and heady take on the band’s pioneering alternative, trip hip and nu-jazz infused sound… This might just be the best Red Snapper ever! Red Snapper have produced a gorgeous, eclectic collection of tracks that carry their signature and always-captivating sound into the a new realm. ‘Everybody Is Somebody’ is pressed on super limited ‘Heart of Glass’ clear vinyl in an incredible custom laser cut sleeve designed by Non Format and inspired by Motif of the Arecibo SETI deep space satellite of the 70s. Sleeved in heavyweight super matt card with intricate laser cut geometric piercings that allow a glimpse of the full colour inner bag bearing the void of inner space. Recorded over the past 3 years with ace engineer Shuta Shinoda in Hackney, East London, the album captures brilliantly the live intensity of the band whilst adding studio subtleties that make for a deep and rewarding listen. Red Snapper are best known for their unique sound, and their passionate live performances where they embrace dark funk, hip-hop, dub, afro-jazz, psychedelic surf, and beautiful, fragile soundscapes.
Featuring Natty Wylah, on the opener Warp & The Weft and Albert's Day Off. Guests include James Wade-Sired - Trombone on Warp and The Weft, Detach. Abe Friend - Keys on Warp and The Weft.
