I spent way too much time thinking about what Countries Dungeon Meshi Characters would be from if they were #real after finding out the Marcille would unfortunately be Italian so I made a list that’s is 100% correct and accurate:
Laois & Falin Touden - Norwegian and Scottish
Marcille - Lesbian
Senshi - Denmark (Hates Danes)
Chilchuck Tims - Ireland (Galway girl specifically)
Kabru - Türkiye (but lived in France with his adoptive mother)
Izutsumi - Mongolia
Thistle - England (originally from the Isle of Man)
Shuro - Japan
Namari - Germany

in the manga this happens before Kiki says good morning while in the anime Namari asks about her axe after Kiki says good morning (and she doesn't ask where she is lol)
I'm not sure I approve of this change because in the anime it implies that even after finding out where she is, she was still worried about her stuff, while in the manga, once she realised it was Kiki, she was no longer worried about her axe and instead inquired about the time
which is sweet :3

What I really love about the Daydream Hour art is that it really shows that the characters in Dungeon Meshi aren’t just characters in a story, but they’re Ryoko Kui’s ocs. And sure maybe this is a perk that’s granted to mangakas that release on a monthly schedule opposed to weekly IDK but there’s just some about getting to see different interpretations of the characters and peeks into what she draws in her free time outside the story.

And like I just love how casually she draws and depicts the characters in her personal work. There’s something for quite literally all the characters and like I said maybe other mangakas don’t have or can’t find the time to do so or choose to not release their personal work like she does but I think these pieces just make the characters feel more alive. Like she’s an oc artist through and through lol
