I'm always interested in talking about mermaids! :D

You knew that you shouldn't keep him a secret from the people around you. You should tell others, so he could get help but you knew that people wouldn't want to help him.

You knew that people would want to use him to gain money or do tests on him... You didn't want that for your little friend.

With a slow breath, you walk into the cave lowering your head to not hit it as you walked in "Lantern?"

When you said that, the cave slowly lit up with a familiar light blue glow, making you smile. You look down at the water that had a glowing in the dark shape.

There was your friend... you crouch down, putting your hand against Lantern's cheek, who nuzzles into it letting out soft happy sounds "Hey..." he greets you, mumbling. His tail was flapping softly and he starts to swim around. The little lake inside of the cave was big enough for him!

"Hey, how are you feeling?" you ask, pulling out some food for him, tossing it into the water, and seeing as he swam over to eat it.

He turns his head up to look at you, taking a chunk out of the flesh of the fish, and chewing it. He didn't respond for a second "I'm okay"

"Just... Okay?" You ask, a tad nervous.

He nods, "Just okay... I'm a little... bored" He takes out another chunk, speaking around it "I've swam around this little lake a lot of times while you've been gone, I've counted the lines and seen the rocks over and over again" He sighs softly, "I want to go back out"

"I-" you stop, shutting your mouth in a tight line. If he leaves, he could be in danger... you sigh, petting the top of his head "I'll think about it" You lean down, kissing the top of his skull, making him hum happily, leaning into it.
