After months preparing for their comeback, it’s time to show their new song to the world!
But before they come back, they are pulled aside by the manager for some exciting news. After showing solid results with the past albums, the company decided to create the first LUXE’s first subunit to show a different side of the group. The subunit will be called Lemon Syrup inspired by real life Orange Caramel and their first release will be a double single with ‘Magic Girl’ and ‘A-ing’, which the line distribution can be found here. The members chosen to join are Ella, Yena and Zoe. They are told to learn the lyrics because the plan is to debut them next year.
Ella is also informed that she will have a solo fashion pictorial with Marie Claire Korea. The photo session will happen on October 10th and the photos will be released next month on the magazine’s November issue. You may use the following images as references (here).
To promote their first full album, the members of LUXE will all go to the recording of Ask In A Box inspired by this episode on October 12th. This episode will be uploaded on their Youtube channel on October 23rd. On October 14th, the members will take part in the filming of ‘Running Man’ inspired by Episode 428 which can be seen here under the theme “Everyone has secrets”. This episode will air on October 25th.
Their comeback date is on October 17th and the showcase will start at 7PM. A specially prepared video will play on the big screen highlighting different parts of their music video with the instrumentals of ‘Ah Yeah’ as the background music before the members walk onto the stage to perform their title track ‘Ah Yeah’. The MC Kim  Minchul will appear once they’re done to thank the public for coming. The members will answer questions about their comeback preparations and new album as any other major activities that happened during their hiatus such as drama participations. They’ll then perform ‘Too Good For Me’ followed by ‘Oh Boy’, from their previous album. The MC will then ask more personal and variety questions and their goals for the future. They’ll finish it off with a performance of ‘How Why’ followed by ‘Up&Down’ to finish it off.
The following is the music show promotion schedule for LUXE’s ‘Ah Yeah’ activities:
10/18, 10/25, 11/01: SBS Inkigayo
10/20, 10/27, 11/03: MTV The Show
10/21, 10/28, 11/04: MBC Show Champion
10/22, 10/29, 11/05: Mnet M!Countdown
10/23, 10/30, 11/06: KBS Music Bank
10/23: Arirang Simply K-Pop
10/24, 10/31, 11/07: MBC Music Core
During the first week of promotions, LUXE will use ‘Oh Boy’ as their sibling song and will perform it alongside the title track. For any day that you do not have to perform or have any other schedules, you may have a break at the dorms unless said otherwise.
Music show promotions will last for a total of three weeks this time. Programs will begin pre-recording early in the morning and groups are expected to stay at the broadcasting station until the live broadcast takes place later in the day. Although music shows in real life follow varied recording schedules, for IC writing purposes, the schedule for every music show will follow this consistent pattern:
06:20AM: at broadcasting station: basic first rehearsal on stage; no makeup, casual clothes.
06:45AM: head to salon: get makeup and hair done.
07:45AM: return to broadcasting station: eat breakfast, nap in dressing room/space.
09:00AM: dress rehearsal on stage; stage outfits, makeup on.
09:20AM: return to dressing room/space: rest, eat, nap.
11:00AM: final camera rehearsal on stage; stage outfits, makeup on.
11:15AM: greet senior artist groups at their respective dressing room/spaces, accompanied by a manager. you may not sleep during this time, up until the live broadcast.
07:00PM: live broadcast; when not performing, must stay in the dressing room/space until the ending stage of the show.
08:00PM: line up in the waiting room area to formally greet producers, director, and senior staff.
09:00PM: meeting time with fans who attended the recordings.
10:00PM: return to dressing rooms to clean up, change back into casual clothes.
11:00PM: arrive back at dorms.
On applicable Fridays, members leave the KBS building for recording Arirang Simply K-Pop which airs 1PM ~ 2PM. Due to ISAC recording schedules, LUXE will pre-record their stages early in the day on the 24th and 25th before they have to leave.
On October 19th, all the members will go to SBS Power FM where they’ll answer questions as well as sing their own songs. On October 23rd, they’ll all go to Idol Radio. On May 27th, Cheri and Yena will go together to Kiss The Radio. They won’t be the only guests of the day.
As explained in the previous month, LUXE will be joining the recordings of the biannual ISAC. They'll be taken to the event with their manager on October 24th and 25th and they should use this time to make friends, have fun and, of course, win the games to get more screen time. Once arriving, they will change into lilac uniforms and pose for the press before the recording start.
Along with the other idols, LUXE was invited to the annual Samsung Halloween Party. The girls are expected to abuse of their creativity and ROYAL has left their costume makers and makeup artist available for the girls to borrow help from. They’ll be taken to the event with their manager on October 31st and should use this time to enjoy themselves. All the members have their presence as obligatory. They’ll be sharing a table with Lee Yuna.
You will gain +5 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, +3 DEBUT POINTS and +2 ACHIEVEMENTS for completing the written requirements explained on the idol tier page. As this is a song promotion month, one of your chosen achievements must be relevant to the above schedule and all required content should be written about activities listed on the above schedule for the month of October. There is a capped maximum of five solos, sets of starters and/or partnered threads you may write to collect this month’s points.
To clarify, the only form that needs to be submitted at the end of the month is a verification form for your debut points and achievements. Any SP points earned can be collected as soon as you finish the requirement for them. Career(edit)
Even Closer(edit)
Goapele returned to Oakland after her time at Berklee College of Music, where she concentrated on writing and recording songs. In 2001, she self-released her debut album, Closer, which sold 5,000 copies.(16) At the same time, she was building a devoted audience through her popular live performances in the San Francisco Bay Area. 'Closer' peaked at No. 63 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.(17)
In 2002 she reworked Closer, adding five new songs. With the help of her family, she formed her own independent label, Skyblaze Recordings, to oversee her musical career. She released her first nationally distributed album, Even Closer, featuring the single 'Closer,' through Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. 'Closer' was also featured on the soundtrack of the 2003 movie Honey. In 2004, Columbia/SME Records picked up Skyblaze Recordings for worldwide distribution and rereleased the album with additional tracks. She co-wrote and co-produced the entire album, which is a mixture of neo-soul, trip hop, lieder, and jazz. She also toured North America with the band Spearhead. In 2004, Even Closer peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Charts for Top Independent Albums.(18)
Change It All(edit)
Cached
Her second album, Change It All, featuring the single 'First Love' and the song 'Love Me Right,' was released December 2005. The album featured production work from Jeff Bhasker, Mike Tiger, Amp Live, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, and Linda Perry.(19) In 2006 the album peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Album Charts and No. 2 on the Top Heatseekers while the single 'First Love' reached No. 18 on the Hot Adult R&B Airplay.(18) Goapele appeared on Soul Train to promote the album in May 2006, in what turned out to be the show's final new episode. She also appeared on The Orlando Jones Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, ABC View from The Bay and FOX Good Day Atlanta. Her first three releases have garnered praise from the likes of magazines such as Rolling Stone, Nylon, Interview, Marie Claire, Billboard, Essence, and Vibe. She has appeared on the covers of local Bay Area publications San Francisco Magazine, Diablo Magazine, East Bay Express, SF Bay Guardian, Mugshot Magazine, and City Flight,(20) She was named the number-5 artist to watch in the July 2003 issue of Rolling Stone magazine, made the countdown on MTV’s Top 10 Artists to Watch, and collaborated with ALDO Shoes’ advertisement campaign in its fight against HIV/AIDS, which featured artists such as Avril Lavigne, Ludacris, Dave Navarro, Charlize Theron, Pink, Eve, Rosario Dawson, Eva Mendes, Bow Wow, Ziggy Marley, and Kelly Rowland.
Break of Dawn(edit)
On July 10, 2009, Skyblaze Recordings leaked the single 'Milk & Honey' (produced by Bedrock), the first single from her third studio album of the same title.(21) However, in August 2011, she announced that the album would be titled Break of Dawn. The album is being recorded at the Zoo, home of Goapele's Oakland-based Skylight Studios and will feature production from Drumma Boy,(22) Bedrock, Kanye West, Dan Electric, Mike Tiger, Bobby Ozuna (Raphael Saadiq, John Mayer, Erykah Badu), Malay (John Legend, Mary J. Blige), Jeff Bhasker (The Game, Kanye West, Ludacris, T.I), and other guest musicians. After many delays, the album was finally released on October 25, 2011.(23)
Victory(edit)
In celebration of the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa Goapele released the single 'Victory' featuring South African emcee Hip Hop Pantsula, a prelude to her upcoming musical project Victory, which was released in Winter 2010(citation needed) and feature an array of artists from the African continent as well as throughout the Diaspora.(24) The leading track was recorded in English, Setswana, and Xhosa and tries to draw attention to the need for education and resources to combat Africa's most crucial dilemmas. The album will also encompass philanthropy, political and social activism. Proceeds from the project will go to ANSA (Artists for a New South Africa) a non-profit organization working to combat HIV/AIDS, assist children orphaned by the disease, advance human and civil right, educate and empower youth and build bonds between the U.S. and South Africa through Arts & Culture.(25)
In 2014, Goapele signed with singer Eric Benét's record label Jordan House and is in the process of recording new material for her new label.(26)
Strong as Glass(edit)
In 2014, Goapele released Strong as Glass, her fifth studio album. The lead single was 'Hey, Boy' featuring Snoop Dogg and the video was released September 10, 2014, on YouTube.
Collaborations(edit)
The family songbook. Apart from her solo work, she has collaborated with West Coast MCs such as Aceyalone, E-40, Zion-I, and Mac Mall; those involved in the Hieroglyphics Crew; Detroit based vocalist Dwele; and Clyde Carson and Mos Def on the track 'Different.”
Human rights work(edit)
Goapele performed at rallies, demonstrations, and various political events around the world from Cuba to South Africa. On September 14, 2006, the California-based Ella Baker Center for Human Rights honored her with its first ever Human Rights Cultural Hero Award(27) during the center's 10th-anniversary celebration, which was titled 'Tribute to a Dream.' The following statement was issued by the Center regarding the award:
We are proud to name internationally acclaimed, Oakland-based (singer-songwriter) Goapele the first recipient of this award. But as successful as she is, Goapele remains deeply rooted in her home community and in the struggle for human rights. We first saw her sing at rallies and demonstrations when both she and Ella Baker Center were just starting out. Today, she is still here with us, side by side, looking forward to a better day for all of our people.
The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights is a non-profit strategy and action center. The stated aim of the center is to work for justice, opportunity, and peace in urban America.

Lyrics to Change It All
Verse 1: They're closing all the schools down Some teachers work for free now And libraries won't be found Cause there's not enough Can you see a change in your town Small close it's ??? I'm trying to sort it out What we're giving up Chorus: Basically There are people left out From living Comfortably can we figure it out I've been waiting Restlessly for the words to a song That would Change it all Change it all Change it all Verse 2: I never found a 9 to 5 That was worth it from my soul Til I I pursued what brought joy in my life And there's something for us all And I still think it is my right And it's the last and one of few To get the luxery for learning Something I could use Chorus: Basically There are people left out From living Comfortably can we figure it out I've been waiting Restlessly for the words to a song That could Change it all Change it all (If the words could change it all) Change it all (Change it all) Bridge: So many laws are changing They say it's the price for war We send over at least ? billions It's hard to believe that years ago people died to fight But history feels so far away History feels so far away We're not fighting for our lives anymore You're not fighting for my life anymore It's hard to know what's really worth fighting for Or is it killing and dying on the streets Chorus: Ohhh Basically There are people left out From living Comfortably can we figure it out I've been waiting Restlessly for the words to a song That could Change it all Chorus 2: Oh! Basically There's enough for us all So Why can't we somehow figure it out I've been waiting Restlessly for the words to a song That could Change it all Change it all (If the words could change it all) Change it all Change it all Change it all If a song could change it all What if we could change it all (Thanks to Quita for these lyrics)

The Week in Business: A Ransom for Fuel Good morning and happy Sunday. Here’s what you need to know in business and tech news for the week ahead. — Charlotte Cowles What’s Up? (May 9-15) Panic at the Pump A cyberattack on Colonial Pipeline, one of the biggest fuel arteries in the United States, pushed the average price of gas above $3 per gallon for the first time since 2014. Fearing a shortage, panicked buyers lined up at the pump, which, of course, made the problem worse. To appease the hackers, who are believed to be part of a foreign organized crime group, Colonial Pipeline paid nearly $5 million in ransom — a capitulation that could embolden other criminals to take American companies hostage. The pipeline’s operators restored service late last week but said the supply chain would need several days to return to normal. It’s Not Your Imagination A new report from the Labor Department confirmed what you may have noticed: Prices for consumer goods like clothes, food and other household goods were up 4 percent in April from a year ago, blowing past forecasts. Economists are attributing the spike to pandemic-related issues like higher shipping and fuel costs, supply disruptions, rising demand and understaffing at factories and distribution centers. The Federal Reserve tried to assuage fears of inflation by insisting that the increase was temporary. But the news spooked the stock market all the same. And retail sales in April fell short of expectations, holding steady but showing a slowdown in growth after a blockbuster March. Facebook’s Crypto Bid Still eager to get a piece of the cryptocurrency market, Facebook is overhauling its digital-currency project (formerly known as Libra, now called Diem) to address concerns from U.S. officials that it could be used for money laundering and other illegal purposes. The company is also moving the project to the United States from Switzerland after a stalled attempt to gain approval from Swiss regulators. In other crypto news, Tesla’s chief executive, Elon Musk, abruptly reversed his support for Bitcoin, tweeting that his company would no longer accept the cryptocurrency as payment because of the fossil fuels used in its mining and transactions. After his tweet, the price of Bitcoin dropped more than 10 percent. What’s Next? (May 16-22) Free Rides for Shots As part of an effort to get 70 percent of American adults at least partly vaccinated by July 4, federal and state governments are adding extra incentives. (In case keeping yourself and others safe, and the ability to go maskless, wasn’t a good enough reason.) The Biden administration has partnered with the ride-hailing companies Uber and Lyft to provide free transportation to vaccination sites nationwide starting May 24. West Virginia is working on a plan to offer $100 savings bonds to people ages 16 to 35 who get their shots. And those who receive the vaccine in Ohio will be entered into a lottery that awards a $1 million prize each week for five weeks, starting May 26. Ellen’s Last Dance Ellen DeGeneres will end her talk show next year after nearly two decades on the air. Her program has seen a steep decline in ratings after employees complained of a toxic workplace and accused producers of sexual harassment. The accusations looked particularly bad in light of Ms. DeGeneres’s tagline, “Be Kind,” which has become a branded juggernaut used to market merchandise to her fans. Although Ms. DeGeneres apologized publicly in September for the incidents, the show has since lost more than a million viewers, a 43 percent decline from about 2.6 million last season. It also saw a 20 percent decline in advertising revenue from September to February compared with the previous year. (Slightly) More Golden Arches In the battle to recruit workers in a tight job market, McDonald’s has become the latest fast-food company to raise hourly wages, following in the recent footsteps of chain restaurants including Chipotle and Olive Garden. But the McDonald’s pay increase applies only to its company-owned restaurants, which make up a small fraction of its business. About 95 percent of its U.S. restaurants are independently owned and set their own wages. What Else? Low-income households can now apply for a $50 monthly discount on high-speed internet services. Hearst Magazines sold the American edition of Marie Claire to a British publisher. And after more than a year of trying to figure out what to do with the embattled retailer Victoria’s Secret, the brand’s parent company has decided to split itself into two independent, publicly listed entities: Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works. Join Andrew Ross Sorkin of The Times in conversation with Dame Ellen MacArthur and other economic experts to explore what it will take to transform the economy in the battle against climate change. May 20 at 1:30 p.m. E.T. RSVP here. Source link Orbem News #Business #Fuel #ransom #Week

Tumblr media
A selection of the best animation news, opinions, and features from around the world for the week ending January 25th, 2020.
News
The 47th Annie Awards
Tumblr media
ANIMATION MAGAZINE – Klaus cleans up, but Netflix is the real winner taking home 19 statues and somehow managing to win both Best Animated Feature and Best Animated Feature – Independent with Klaus and I Lost my Body respectively.
‘Bambi’ Remake in the Works (Exclusive)
Tumblr media
VARIETY – With this news I’m genuinely considering starting a betting pool on when the live-action remake of Steamboat Willie is released. Seriously though, Netflix is ploughing money into original hand-drawn and CGI films and constantly releases them. Disney is giving us, what, more CGI sequels and even more CGI remakes? Can you guess which company is a safer bet in the long run?
Genndy Tartakovsky Speaks Out About His Star Wars: Clone Wars Animated Series
Tumblr media
SUPERHEROHYPE – Tartakovsky has a few choice words for the apparent sweeping of his Star Wars series under the canon rug.
ALICE launched in Barcelona to champion European-made animation
Tumblr media
CINERUOPA – European animation continues to organise with the goal of assisting the industry compete more effectively against the American juggernauts. ALICE (Animation League for Increased Cooperation in Europe) will help small and medium businesses who work within the animation industry find funding for their projects.

Features
How we made Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Tumblr media
THE GUARDIAN – The show may not hold up as well as some of its contemporaries but was prophetic in many ways. Here’s some first-hand accounts from the producer and star.
Animation That Broke the Rules
Tumblr media
THE NEW YORK TIMES – The title is slightly misleading to a wonderful tribute to Satoshi Kon.
‘Happy Happy Joy Joy’ Film Review: ‘Ren & Stimpy’ Doc Celebrates Animation But Shies Away From Darker Subjects
Tumblr media
A still from Happy Happy Joy Joy – The Ren & Stimpy Story by Ron Cicero and Kimo Easterwood, an official selection of the Documentary Premieres program at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Courtesy of Sundance Institute | photo by Chris Gore. All photos are copyrighted and may be used by press only for the purpose of news or editorial coverage of Sundance Institute programs. Photos must be accompanied by a credit to the photographer and/or ‘Courtesy of Sundance Institute.’ Unauthorized use, alteration, reproduction or sale of logos and/or photos is strictly prohibited.
THE WRAP – I haven’t seen this yet, but judging by the review, it’s hard to tell if it’s a vanity project, or a labour of love on the part of the producers. Either way, it seems like a missed opportunity.
Bojack Horseman’s animation is completely radical and underrated
Tumblr media
POLYGON – Does the genius of BoJack Horseman equal the genius of Neon Genesis Evangelion? I’m going to withhold my opinion, but feel free to share yours in the comments.
Tekkonkinkreet is a forgotten landmark in animation
25YL – This is a rather nice tribute to a film that tends to be overlooked all too often.
Cool Articles of the Week
Real-life renders of animated bedrooms are strangely disappointing
Tumblr media
CREATIVE BLOQ – Who would think animated characters would have such boring bedrooms in real life?
Zara just brought out a Bambi dress and it’s surprisingly chic
Tumblr media
MARIE CLAIRE – A much better attempt at animation-related merchandise than the Mickey Mouse plates at Target.

"Adult" animation doesn't have to look like it was designed & animated by people wearing blindfolds. It can be beautiful, move elegantly & have appeal like other animation. This issue is prevalent in the US on account of art-illiterate creators & producers coming from live-action https://t.co/1m3ETsTBGf pic.twitter.com/k46Q2loErA

f this month of magazine covers were a song, it would be Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September,” the only acceptable version of “September” – not the Taylor Swift one, NEVER the Taylor Swift one. So many of the September Issues of the biggest magazines feature black women that Black Twitter has dubbed it Soul September. Cue: “Ba dee ya, dancing in September…”
Issa Rae is holding it down on Ebony. Lupita Nyong’o is on Porter. Tiffany Haddish is on Glamour. Tracee Ellis Ross covers ELLE Canada. Rihanna is on British Vogue and of course, there’s The Beyoncé Issue of American Vogue. Also Zendaya on Marie Claire interviewed by Janet Mock.
Our souls were singing…
ZENDAYA x JANET MOCK!!! I couldn’t wait to read this feature and my girls did not disappoint.By the second paragraph of Janet’s Zendaya feature, I had definitive proof that Janet Mock and I could be best friends. She and I have the same favourite Zendaya video. It’s when Zendaya expertly broke down the difference between extensions, weaves and wigs. Janet uses her love of this video to segue into how Zendaya has “a deep sense of duty to explain and educate” and she did so when Giuliana Rancic mocked her hair on the Oscar red carpet. Zendaya read Giuliana for filth for her dumbass comments and effectively became a role model and a powerful voice for young black women.
Janet Mock notes that Giuliana Rancic’s foolery is Zendaya’s only controversy. She puts it like this:
For a former child star who has been on TV since she was 14, the fact that she has managed not to screw up in public or rebel against her squeaky-clean Disney persona is a miracle.
Is it a miracle or a necessity? What’s interesting to me about this observation is that Zendaya doesn’t have the luxury of screwing up her “squeaky-clean” image and she knows it.
“What my white peers would be able to get away with at this point in their career is not something that I will be able to do. And I knew that from when I was real young. That’s just the truth, and so you’ll be kind of afraid of making mistakes because I love what I do. I don’t want to jeopardize it at any point because I am not allowed the room to mess up.”
If Zendaya was out in these streets acting like Bella Thorne, do you think she’d still have a career? Zendaya may have to live up to expectations that her white peers don’t but there’s also a privilege that comes with looking like Zendaya. Janet brings up Yara Shahidi and Amandla Stenberg, two young black actresses who are Zendaya’s peers and the ones she probably competes with the most for roles. They are the most successful black actresses in young Hollywood.
“What is important to me is knowing we are not the only black girls in the industry. We kind of have been painted as the face, and that’s not the truth. It’s important to have a conversation where we are opening the door to our peers and more black women who don’t necessarily look like us.”
I’ve written about colourism a few times. Every time, I point out that it’s a systemic problem in the entertainment industry - in casting rooms and at the executive level which then translates on screen. Yara, Amandla and Zendaya are talented actresses who deserve their success but they also look the way that Hollywood has deemed is an acceptable way for black women to look. One of my favourite things about Zendaya, other than her wig game, is that she acknowledges her light-skinned privilege and talks about it often. Constantly. She’s using her privilege to expose an uncomfortable truth in her industry, one that she has benefitted from. What other 21-year-old is talking about this sh-t at all let alone with such intelligence and grace? Some of her peers could learn from her candor and self-awareness. Ahem, Alexandra Shipp.
Zendaya also mentions her upcoming project with Reese Witherspoon’s production company where she will play Anita Hemmings, the first black woman to graduate from Vassar College. Zendaya will be starring in and producing it. I’ll leave you with what Zendaya says she learned from working with Reese and her all-female production team. They have inspired Zendaya to have her own production company one day so that she can use her power and influence to make her industry better.
“Sometimes we have to create our own lane and our own opportunities when they’re not handed to us.”
SHE’S 21. How is she already ALL OF THIS at 21? Zendaya turns 22 on September 1st.
Ba dee ya, dancing in SeptemberBa dee ya, golden dreams were shiny days

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2017) - The Girl with All the Gifts (2016) - Episode 200 - Horror News Radio
It's zombie vs zombie this week with the theatrical release first in the hot seat. Milla Jovovich returns as Alice for another entry into the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. After five years since the last entry,  director Paul. W.S. Anderson double downs on the apocalypse giving Alice three days to stop the Umbrella Corporation or all of humanity dies. Or some nonsense like that. The Grue-crew bury the film but praise the scene chewing performance from Game of Thrones star Iain Glen.
The What Have You Been Watching contains the far superior zombie film with Colm McCarthy and Mike Carey's The Girl with All the Gifts. Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, and Paddy Considine all have different reasons to harbinger or exterminate young Melanie. Some think she's humankind's last hope, others view her as a threat to their very existence, while her teacher only sees her as a young girl facing unthinkable adversity in a world gone mad. This is a zombie film done right.
Dave guides the Horror News of the Week with the sad news of the passing of John Hurt, the character actor who gave birth to Alien (1979), sold Harry his wand in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and became the War Doctor in Doctor Who - and so much more. As the year begins, HNR sets its eyes on a number of horror film festivals to attend throughout the year. Up first is Nevermore Horror Film Festival in Durham, NC on February 24 - 26, 2017.
Co-hosts Doc Rotten, Santos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr., Dave Dreher and Thomas Mariani are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week! Oh, and don't forget - Stump the Saint! (Brought to you by Gruesome Magazine)

Feature Review: Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2017)
After a pair of inferior but entertaining schlock filled entries into the Resident Evil series (Afterlife and Retribution), Paul W.S. Anderson steers Alice, Clair, Wesker, and the cast into the abyss. Or is that "the abysmal" - woof. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is excruciating, too dark, and terribly edited. The only thing the Grue-crew can pluck out of the mud as a positive for this film is Iain Glen as Dr. Isaacs who plays the role with infectious relish. If only the subtitle "The Final Chapter" actually meant just that.
What Have You Been Watching: The Girl with All the Gifts (2016)
Making its way onto VOD and digital download, The Girl with All the Gifts is a refreshing and fascinating approach to zombie films. Based on a novel by Mike Carey, director Colm McCarthy crafts an exception film that promises to make a few top ten lists come next December. And, c'mon, seriously, how awesome is it that Glenn Close is fighting zombies...and kicking ass? Great characters, impressive twists on the zombie genre, and a top-notch directorial effort make The Girl with All the Gifts the first must-see film of the year.
