Is it possible for me to control the daydreaming? Or to become better do I have to give it up entirely?
MD can be controlled. Researchers recommend Mindfulness and tracking (jotting down when/howlong/trigger etc, bujo-style). Total elimination is not recommended.

I've never been jealous with mdding...the worst emotion I've had was feeling pathetic for daydreaming extensively instead of living. But this jealousy thing is worse.

I was reading about maladaptive daydreaming and I want to asses the kinds of scenarios in which I imagine myself partaking. They generally tend to be those where I'm the centre of attention, either I'm winning an award or being interviewed or giving a speech or giving an opinion about current events, or I am meeting somebody I adore but even then I'm the one doing most of the talking. I suppose, this need to be the most talked about or the best or better than others stems from the same sense of insecurity and not having found a solid sense of self, that enables feelings of envy and comparison. So the symptom is daydreaming but the causes are feeling s of insecurity, of inferiority, of self-doubt and self-defeat. They must be addressed to correct any behaviours one doesn't like.
