2011 vs 2021: first time recreating an old illustration of mine, the original illustration was a realistic fantasy animal (I mixed a lion with an oryx, prey and predator). This version I went with a stylized approach, inspired by old Persian manuscripts. Week 3: a failed attempt at manuscript calligraphy that I worked with anyway and wow, newfound admiration for those illuminated manuscripts that littered my education. One might even say ~I~ have been ~illuminated~. _________________________________ #art_dailydose #artsy #myart #artoftheday #artjournal #illuminatedmanuscript #manuscriptart #artfail #calligraphy #letteringlove #handlettering #poetry #poetrylovers https://www.instagram.com/p/B8pfa2Kg2Af/?igshid=fapsiehrmlag

For just €140.00 Unique Original hand made miniature painting of whirling dervishes. Made on old turkish- ottoman book leaf with gold and acrylic TURKISH MINIATURES Turks had the tradition to illustrate manuscripts during the cultural periods before Islamic belief. Paper that could be rolled started to be made in China with plant fibers in 105 B.C. No written or illustrated document has yet been found from the time of the Chinese Han dynasty, of Huns and Göktürks. Nevertheless, the large quantities of stone engravings, textiles, ceramics, works of art made of metal, wood, leather which have survived to the present day, prove that the above mentioned cultural circles were quite developed in other fields of art. The oldest examples of Turkish pictures for walls are from the 6th, 7th and 8th centuries. The withering influence of natural conditions have prevented the survival of these first examples. Miniatures are the peak of the art of painting. The utmost point that an art leads to is the place it started at. I accept the first cave paintings of humanity as miniatures because they are products of imagination. Miniatures seize the depths of the imagination. HISTORY & INFORMATION ABOUT THE WHIRLING DERVISHES CEREMONY Mevlana Museum in Konya Sema (Whirling dervishes ceremony), is the inspiration of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi (1207 - 1273) as well as part of the Turkish culture, belief and history in Konya. It symbolizes the different meanings of a mystic cycle to perfection (Ascension - Mirac). Contemporary science definitely confirms that the fundamental condition of our existence is to revolve. There is no object, no being which does not revolve. Every thing whirls and man, a whirling dervish, carries on his life, his very existence by means of the revolution in the atoms, structural elements in his body, by the circulation of his blood, by his coming from the Earth and return to it, by his revolving with the Earth itself. I really interesting challenge was presented to me today! The couple in this photo had an ugly gymnasium behind them, so their friends came by and wanted to create a picture frame that didn't damage the photograph. They wanted saints and scrollwork, so hopefully they like my solution! #manuscriptarts #sca #scroll #saint #drphmartins #gold #commission #simplykitts
