My copy of the “Looking for Magical Doremi” (“Ojamajo Doremi — Majo Minarai wo Sagashite”) Collector’s Edition finally came in the mail from the UK!
The home release comes in a slipcover that goes over the slipcase, which holds the disc case and a booklet filled with interviews, character profiles, and artwork. The disc case has both a Blu-Ray and DVD version of the film.
Tumblr media
As for the actual film presentation, it can be watched with Japanese, French, or English audio. The Japanese audio is the only one that can be watched with subs, either French or English. In the case of English subs, there are a few more options available, such as standard, subs for the deaf/hard of hearing, and subs with audio description.

The visual quality appears to be fine, indistinguishable from the 6-minute preview Toei posted on their official YouTube channel, or what's available on streaming. No weird tints or anything that has plagued a few recent home releases of other Toei properties.
I have a few complaints with this release, mostly regarding quality of life issues. To go back to the audio + subtitle options, it's a little frustrating that the English audio track does not come with an option for any sort of subtitles. In addition, for some odd reason, the Japanese audio track with standard English subs does not include translations for some of the songs, notably the opening credit theme ("Ojamajo Carnival"). This is bizarre when every other option to watch the film, including the English dub, has translated subs appear when the songs play.
All in all, this is a fairly serviceable official English release of the award-winning 20th anniversary film. The release of this film on streaming and now physical disc marks the first time any piece of Doremi-related media (not counting a few books and merchandise) has been available for home release since about 15 years ago, when 4KIDS still had the license to the original TV anime. My hope is that, if other fans are interested, they'll purchase the film, and that possibly might signal a demand to Toei to re-release the original Doremi TV anime in the west again, uncut and all.
You can purchase the film off of the UK-based Anime Limited's website. It normally goes for £40, but at the time of this writing is currently on sale at £30, which is fairly cheap for what is considered a "Collector's Edition" containing two discs. As the company is UK-based, their discs will also be region-locked to that country. For DVDs, that is Region 2, and for Blu-Ray, that is Region B. If you are not of those regions, it is recommended that you get a player that can accommodate those, such as a modified region-free Blu-Ray player. In my personal experience, I was able to play the DVD on my PC's disc drive easily through VLC media player, without having to change the actual region of my disc drive or anything (of which you only have a limited number of times to do).

Favourite anime that isn't Pokemon?
Also what do you think of Pokemon Horizons?
Answer 1:
If there's other animé that left me a great mark, I draw some inspiration for my works, and that I can also recommend it a watch (in Japanese especially) is Ojamajo Doremi!
youtube
It is adorable, sweet, fun, covers themes that will resonate with different sorts of people and has plots and subplots that make you cry out of emotion. The show has got a unique combination of the themes of magic and music for its worldbuilding and a lore that begins to get really deep and interesting once you reach the second season. Umakoshi's art style, one of my favourites from Japanese artists I was exposed to their works, was also what gave me courage back in late childhood to draw humans more often and it especially shines in the OVA series of Naisho and the movie that was released years ago (Majo Minarai o Sagashite). The OST also easily sticks in your ears like that personal favourite of mine that is "Ojamajo de BAN²" that I showcased in video. This show was quite popular a bit around the world when it was airing on Japanese and western TV screens so if you never watched, please consider it!✨
Answer 2:
So far it's interesting! There's definitely a common link between Liko and Roy's amulets that we will eventually figure out with the time, I'm curious about this! However, despite of enjoying the show so far it's never going to be the same magic and emotional investment as it was watching Ash Ketchum's saga. I miss him very much already (and Goh! I can't help but think about when when I hear Horizons' Pokédex entries!). But I'm still watching the show as I want to see how the new protags' stories develop!

Ouran's Fans: Tamaki is charming.
Me: Tamaki? Are you referring to Tamaki Reika? Or Tamaki Erika?
Ouran's Fans: Well, a male Tamaki.
Me: Male? Is it... Tamaki Tetsuji? Reika's father from Majo Minarai o Sagashite? He's old, not charming.
Ouran's Fans: ... Have you ever watched Ouran?
Me: No.
Ouran's Fans: ... Nevermind.

I just came from the cinema where my couple and I went watching the Magical Doremi movie on fullscreen!
After all this time, and even knowing about my own translation and the Doremi-Fansub official one, I was waiting for it so much not to make myself any ‘spoiler’, and the day finally arrived.
The experience was so damn intense, so wonderfully awesome, that I can’t describe it with words. I’m really thankful for being Spanish and having the opportunity to enjoy this film on cinemas! I’ll obviously purchase the DVD edition when it comes out x333.
The other photos are just to show my merchandise. I bought the big charm on an anime convention, and the other three ones are from an online store, sadly you can’t find any of them nowadays.

Link
Pre-orders for the 20th anniversary Ojamajo Doremi film, “Looking for Magical Doremi” (”Majo Minarai wo Sagashite”) have finally opened up on the British retailer Anime Limited.
The Collector’s Edition is said to come with both a Blu-Ray and DVD version of the film, enclosed in a special case, along with a special booklet containing artwork and interviews. The discs contain both Japanese and English dub audio with English subtitles. The full price of the product is £40, although for another few hours (sorry for the late post), it’s on discount at £25.
Although Anime Limited is a British company, they do ship internationally. However, their DVD and Blu-Ray products are region locked to Region 2 and Region B respectively, corresponding with the United Kingdom. It’s recommended that you have a region free player for these discs. The release date for the Collector’s Edition is May 22, 2023.
As this is a Collector’s Edition, it’s expected to be available for a limited time only. This is the only official home release of anything Ojamajo Doremi related in the English-speaking world, ever since the original 4Kids dub aired over 15 years ago. While the film appears to be available for streaming on the British-owned ITVX (for free), and on Disney+ (in some unspecified territories), there has been no signs of a US release. If you can, please share this with other Doremi fans, so that others who are interested can purchase and possibly send a message to Toei that there is still a fanbase here.

Translation in progress!
I had forgotten how hard it is to do a complete translation, the timing and all the process when you’re alone, but I’m pretty sure it will be worth it!
Sorry in advance if I take a while, but I’m doing this in my free time between work and ‘normal life’ just because I’m a big fan of Ojamajo Doremi and want to share it with everyone. The original French translator hasn’t given me an answer yet, so I’m doing it completely on my own. Sorry for any mistakes I may have on the translation. I understand a little bit of Japanese, and have a B2 level on French and a C1 on English, but my native language keeps being Spanish, haha. Thinking and speaking in three diferent languages at the same time is kind of strange, to be honest.
Project Status: 15% Complete. Will be updating it.
