friend just send me this
we are doing a human chain across hong kong tonight and someone brought pepe with us~💖
nice chance for me to explain that please understand pepe had a whole different meaning to us. before the movement im sure not many people in hk have seen or know what pepe is. it was just an other meme. during the last two months it became popular with other chatacters especially we are at a time that used to msg stickers.
some of us are aware of its meaning in the west so would only draw pepe as the government and police and such. while some of us think that, well it was not a familar character to hk, we could always give it new meanings because we really like it!
and thisss!!! on Lion Rock!!
its a sentimental little mountain for us hongkongers.

Bill Browder’s first book detailed on how he came to work in Russia after the fall of communism, the corruption that flourished under Putin, and the events that led to the death of his lawyer Sergei Magnitsky. This follow up focuses on his attempts to uncover who profited from the corruption scheme Sergei uncovered and create the Magnitsky Act in his memory - the now global legislation used to put sanctions on human rights offenders. Just like the first, this is essential reading for anyone wanting to understand how Putin operates. #currentlyreading #nonfiction #bookworm #bookstagram #supportlocallibraries #putin #magnitskyact

Truly thankful for the call for #magnitskyact sanctions, Sen Housakos. Itt’s a matter of the entire global community indeed as CCP is extending their claws everywhere, threatening everyone. Appeasement is no longer an option. #StandWithHongKong #StandwithUyghurs https://t.co/MU7je78TDQ Watch the full speech calling for Magnitsky sanctions against Chinese officials for their oppression and false imprisonments of Hong Kong pro-democracy fighters: https://t.co/FIb6w4onO2 PATHETIC: Trudeau Statement Refuses To Say 'Islamist,' Pushes Political Correctness Instead https://t.co/SbZbfTrnpN Why should Canadians have to put up with such pathetic cowardice from someone with zero leadership skills? MENU   SPENCER FERNANDO NEWS & COMMENTARY PATHETIC: Trudeau Statement Refuses To Say “Islamist,” Pushes Political Correctness Instead NEWSSPENCERFERNANDOOCTOBER 29, 20200 Why should Canadians have to put up with such pathetic cowardice from someone with zero leadership skills? Justin Trudeau has issued a statement on the Islamic Terror Attack in Nice, France. In his remarks, both on Twitter and at a virtual press conference with European leaders, Trudeau failed to say the words “Islamist Terrorism,” or “Islamist Attack,” yet again showing a sick obsession with political correctness and an attitude of gutless cowardice. And here’s what he said at the press conference: “They were heinous, criminal acts, unjustifiable by any circumstance and an affront to all of our values. The criminals, the terrorists, the cold-blooded murderers who perpetrated these attacks do not represent Islam. They do not get to define Muslims in France, in Canada or anywhere around the world.” This is the same tired rhetoric we hear from corrupt politicians. https://www.instagram.com/p/CG8v3Q-Avhe/?igshid=jsm4x1h1w9q2

Excellent news: Bill Browder, author of the Magnitsky Act, has written a statement above calling for Chinese officials responsible for persecuting the Uyghur Muslims to be sanctioned. Highly recommended reading. In Britain, we have prominent anti-terrorism and human rights advocates also calling for punishment of China over this issue. This terrible government will not get away with these crimes!

Sam Patten and Paul Manafort were associates who worked for the same team. #TrumpRussia  #Crimea  #MagnitskyAct
Sam Patten funneled money to Trump’s Inauguration Committee to set up meetings between Putin’s Ukrainian Oligarch, Serhiy Lyovochkin and Republican Congress members. #NationalSecurity
Diana Denman, a Republican delegate said Trump directed changes to GOP Platform on Ukraine support. Is there a connection between Patten and Trump changing the platform to be less pro-Ukraine and more pro-Russian? #YouBetcha  #MuellerIsComingForYou
As part of a plea agreement under which he pledged to cooperate with federal prosecutors, the lobbyist, Sam Patten, pleaded guilty to failing to register as a foreign agent for a Russia-aligned Ukrainian political party, and to helping the Ukrainian oligarch who had funded that party illegally purchase four tickets to Mr. Trump’s inauguration.
How Foreign Agents work
They contend that Mr. Patten arranged for the purchase of four tickets for $50,000 by funneling the oligarch’s money through an American “straw” purchaser in violation of rules barring the inaugural committee from accepting money from foreign nationals.
Prosecutors say that Mr. Patten arranged meetings with congressional officials for the oligarch, and one former congressional aide recalled being introduced to Mr. Lyovochkin by Mr. Patten.
Prosecutors also said that Mr. Patten helped the oligarch draft and place an op-ed in an American media outlet in February 2017 “to address concerns regarding Ukraine’s ability to work effectively with the new United States administration.”
Patten, Manfort and Russians used banks in Cyprus and shell companies
Summary
Patten, a respected Republican operative and consultant whose family was once part of Washington’s social elite
Patten faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Prosecutors did not identify the American who purchased the tickets, the oligarch or Mr. Patten’s Russian business partner by name. But people familiar with the work said the Russian is Konstantin V. Kilimnik formed a company called Begemot Ventures International with Mr. Patten in February 2015, according to corporate records filed in Washington.
Kilimnik is a Russian national who had worked closely with Mr. Manafort in Ukraine and is suspected by the United States of having ties to Russian intelligence.
The description of the oligarch matches that of Serhiy Lyovochkin, who serves in the Ukrainian parliament and is an official in the Opposition Bloc, according to interviews and documents.
Mr. Gates, Mr. Trump’s former deputy campaign chairman and Mr. Manafort’s former right-hand man, testified that Mr. Lyovochkin was one of a clutch of oligarchs who paid Mr. Manafort more than $60 million to promote pro-Russian political forces in Ukraine.

The bipartisan leadership of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is demanding a definitive determination from President Donald Trump about whether Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi...Trump gave no ruling on bin Salman’s involvement in a statement earlier Tuesday that largely sided with Saudi Arabia, declaring that “maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!” But under the Magnitsky Act, Trump can be required to make a determination about human rights violations by global leaders.... “I never thought I’d see the day a White House would moonlight as a public relations firm for the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia,” [Bob] Corker said on Twitter. #Signsofthemarch 📸credit: @unitedworldinternational @politico ・・・ #un #syria #cyprus #yemen #turkey #khashoggimurder #khashoggi #jamalkhashoggi #saudijournalist #SaudiArabia #geopolitics #politics #press #magnitskyact #freespeech #journalism #reporting #firstamendment #journalist #journalists #freepress #investigativejournalism #1stamendment https://ift.tt/2zjVvc6

With public libraries closed until at least May 18, I’ve needed to turn to e-books. I don’t mind them; I have a Kindle and it’s great for traveling but I’m partial to feeling the weight of a book in my hands. Another issue with e-books is that I’m at the mercy of whatever selection the library’s preferred system has. Luckily this one from my list was available! Essential reading for anyone wanting to understand how the Russian government operates. If you didn’t know better, you’d think it was the latest fictional thriller. #currentlyreading #nonfiction #bookworm #ebook #supportlocallibraries #russia #magnitskyact #coronavirus #lockdown

More chilling news about China’s abuse of the Uyghur Muslims. Human hair collected from Muslims imprisoned in concentration camps was found aboard a ship headed to the US. This is a disgusting abuse of human rights. Why are we so silent on the vicious Communist State of China? Boycotts and sanctions should be in order!
