robin heard the conversation on the halls, eyes rolling back her skull and instantly shutting as a sigh escaped her lips. another couple choosing one of the family video’s aisles to fight and at the same time, steve was flirting with some other client, awesome. not like she wasn’t happy for her best friend trying to get a date, or even get to ears-drop another conversation for pure gossiping reasons. it was just — too much. the day has been already long enough. “geez, no one thinks about the ones who actually work? how many more tapes will i rewind before i lose my mind?” she commented, moving her head side to side as another vhs was put with the pile that were done. “ugh, I really need a free day, don’tcha wanna have a free day from everything else too?” her eyes flew back up to gaze the one standing in front of her.

.Ok some loose Robin backstory for her !

Robin is the only adopted child of Malcolm and Angie Buckley. Her father worked in downtown Hawkins selling pop and candy at the corner store while her mother sold houses in the shiny new developments that seemed to pop into existence when no one was looking. There was always this bitterness in her family they never spoke about, two people who had married their high school sweetheart, settled down, and never left their home. She always thought her mother pushed her so hard (Language lessons, band, after school tutoring) because she was terrified Robin would do the same. 

In her Freshman year of High School, Robin realized she was attracted to girls with the label Lesbian cropping up Sophomore year after a disastrous date with a member of her pep band. He went to kiss her goodbye and she instinctively shoved him back so hard he fell into her mother’s prized rosebush. A trip to the hospital for stitches later and (Thank god) he never called her like he half heartedly promised after his dad came to pick him up.

At the start of her Junior year she noticed her relationship with her parents were getting more strained by the day. Things weren’t helped with the closure of her dad’s work with the opening of the Starcourt Mall or that her mom couldn’t sell anyone a house in their “Small cursed town” even if she slashed the asking price. No one wanted land that had a girl die on it because of some weird chemical spill from the local plant(?) government(??) secret(???) spy(?!?!?!) facility(???????!!!!!!!). 

Sometime between her Sophomore year when the Byers boy went missing and the end of her Junior, the Buckley family just stopped talking. Stopped catching up at dinner or left little notes on the table to remind her to eat something out of the fridge, No more dad calling from the store saying it was going to be a late night because it was always a late night. 

When her mother left the job postings out for her to find heavy with red circles, she got the message. 

And then Steven “The Hair” Harrington had to be her coworker for an entire fucking summer because her life sucks and it won’t stop sucking until she dies. At least she gets free samples.
