The culmination of my contributions to Tales of Luminaria Party 2023, where I took on the challenge of drawing one of its characters per day.

Completed on its 2nd Anniversary on November 4. The individual pieces can be found over on my art blog, meimei-artpile.

I will never forget Tales of Luminaria, nor will I ever forgive and stop being salty about how Bandai Namco mistreated this masterpiece-in-the-making brimming with so much potential.

When I first got into Luminaria fandom, I mostly stuck to JP twitter Lumi fandom. The JP Lucien fans were always really nice and welcoming, not just to me, but to like, basically any Lumi fan no matter what language they spoke or whatever other fandoms they were in...

That might just be my own personal experience talking, but it was because I met those Lucien fans that I ended up recording these lines.

...they’re probably not looking for EN recorded lines, though. And probably not with this kind of video quality... I wish I had more to offer them if they’re looking for anything specific.

Tales Sexyman Poll Results

The Sexyman poll is now closed! I did consider leaving it up for most of the 14th, since I originally said the poll would run through the 14th, but in the past few days, responses have significantly slowed down so I decided that anyone who wants to vote probably has already.

That being said! We ended up 260 responses! Wow! I'm glad so many people are invested in determining the sexiest dude in Tales.

32 people will be included in the final bracket. I decided to reserve the last 5 spots for write-in votes, because someone going out of their way to write a name in shows a lot of passion.

I'm not going to reveal the final numbers for the characters who made it into the bracket, because I think the voting will be more fun if everyone doesn't already have the numbers on who is generally more popular. But, I will give you the numbers for those who didn't make the cut, and some of my favourite write-in responses.

However! It was pointed out to me that I completely forgot to include Heldalf on this poll. He definitely should have been on the list, because he is the final boss of a mothership Tales game, but I forgot. Despite that, poor Heldalf did not receive a single write-in vote, or a single lament in the tags of the post that they wanted to vote for him. I would say "It makes sense, because he's a cat person," but Eugene Gallardo is also a cat person, and he got 10 votes, so there is at least some furry representation here.

Based on this evidence I think Bisley may have to pass the crown of Least Fuckable Tales Man to Heldalf.

I may note, though, that a single survey response can only vote for a character one time. Largo, Philip Reston, and Gaspard Herbert all got 3 votes each. Jiao, Zephyr (Tales of Link), Yeager, Alexei, Raoul, Botta, Abyssion, Lucien Dufaure, and Edouard Rouquier all got recommended by at least 2 people.

2 people also voted for Mikleo as he appears in the epilogue, at which time he is old enough to qualify for the Sexy Man poll. I do have to wonder how the main results would have shaken out if I'd thought of that and added Epilogue Mikelo to the main roster to choose from! Perhaps someone in the future should run a Handsome Boy tournament to give all these teenage heroes a shot at glory.

Milla Maxwell. As the voter points out, she is not a woman! While "not a woman" and "man" are not the same thing, there really are not enough nonbinary characters in Tales to support a Sexiest Nonbinary Character contest, so you're right, anonymous voter. We should have the option to vote for Milla in both Sexyman and Sexywoman tournament as a compromise.

Victor Kresnik. I know it's not the same, but will it help to know that Ludger is in the tournament?

Lloyd Irving, DotNW era. Under the same rules as Mikleo above, this vote also counts. Good for you, Lloyd.

Recently, I realized something... the only time I did cosplay in PSO2 before was when there was the NieR:Automata collab, I tried to make an accurate 9S. After that, I didn’t do anything, even when there were the collabs with Re:Zero, Dead or Alive 5, Persona. Cosplay/Phashion was definitely not one of my priorities when playing this game, for 8 years, even when I moved to Global.

So... this just goes to show that NGS is boring. To me, at least. I mean... sure, there is still PSO2, but it’s not the same (as before, and still different from JP) (it looks pretty bad with the new engine), and the customization system is pretty good for a game that does not focus on life simulation, even though the outfits don’t separate top, bottom and shoes. But the gameplay itself? Yes, it’s dynamic, which is pretty nice for a Phantasy Star game. But there is better elsewhere... Content-wise, you either get to everything quickly, or you don’t get them ever if you’re unlucky or not active enough. The updates are unfortunately too slow.

I used to play with a few people. I don’t anymore, because they left, more or less.

Anyway, there better be other planets soon. And an update that'll finally make use of the stuff laying around in Halphia Lake >:T
