oh the heir one was not exactly a full fic (at least not that i know of...if someone made it into one please tell me!) but rather an idea from this amazing post by @wildehacked!

for fic, i gotta start with this rec post by @veliseraptor, who has already gone to the trouble of curating a list of high-quality reconciliation fics, so do check those out! it’s a good variety and it should keep you busy for a while.

i recced this in the original post, but since it made me personally cry like a baby, here again is the half-hanahaki, half-honesty curse fic (Your slightest look easily will unclose me by RedWritingHood, NR, 9K) that i will only reread when i feel like being reckless with my emotional stability.

i love Reconciliation by Uncleing - the two of them either bonding through their love for jl, or sneaking up on brotherly reconciliation via jc asserting his uncle rights with his brother’s children. Attempting the Impossible by Ariaste (T, 36k), in which jc finds out that wangxian have seven kids that no one thought to tell him about, is one of my personal favorites. and Letters by WithBroomBefore (G, 22k) includes a storyline where wwx finds out that jc doesn't know he has a kid and takes it upon himself to spirit lsz away for a summer at lotus pier for family bonding time. avuncular relationship-building: a proven method for solving sibling estrangement! (for the sake of your own children, however, do not try this at home.)

a related concept is Reconciliation by Using Your Nephew As a Convenient Projection Screen for Your Own Emotions (related both because it relies on uncle-bonding and because it allows jc to stay one step removed from wwx while he is still too fragile to put himself out there directly). for instance, see the @winepresswrath and @heavymetalchemist musings in this thread.

while i’m on the subject of jl, Reconciliation by Nephew Trickery is always gold. i have been wanting to rec The Uncle Trap by ladyshadowdrake (G, 5.7k) for the last month, but i’m lazy, so thank you, anon, for presenting me with an opportunity! jl’s planning leaves something to be desired, but i think he does achieve his objective, so good for him. it’s always nice to see a little oneshot of the two brothers united toward a common goal, not quite friendly but not quite at each other’s throats. they’re a work in progress. aren’t we all??

for those of you who liked concept #3 in the original ask, this thread from @amedetoiles and @slangerogkatter and this @justice4mxy post should give you something to take the edge off your insatiable hunger for Reconciliation by Being Petty to Your Brother-in-Law. the latter link includes fic recs from me for Wei Wuxian’s Kidnapping Back and Forth Farce (Starring Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji) by misscam (M, 5.6k) and before you stumble by ribena (T, 10k), both exemplars of the genre imho.

Reconciliation by Wedding Planning is always amazing. i especially like With Absolute Splendor by Lise (T, 44k) and but love is impossible & it goes on despite the impossible by gaystcr (T, 25k). both are from jc’s pov, so buckle yer emotional honesty seatbelts and get ready to grapple with some loneliness and abandonment issues! iirc, these both come with sides of Reconciliation by Uncleing and Reconciliation by Being Petty to Your Brother-in-Law as well, so honestly, do yourself a favor and read them both immediately.

i haven’t seen as much Reconciliation by Defending Your Brother from the Hordes of His Frankly Kind of Justified Enemies as i would like, but the recent fic 陈情 // to give a full account by oh_fudgecakes (G, 11k) was a great take on it. i found this fic very satisfying because jc is pretty alone in a lot of reconciliation stories, and in this one he clearly has lots of people who care about him and feel protective of him, which is beautiful to see. also, forcing jc into a public reveal by trying to punish wwx on his behalf is a great way to deal with the misunderstandings that plague the jc-wwx road to forgiveness and healing.

here's an animal transformation fic i dug in which somebody getting turned into a dog is the catalyst for a jc-wwx reconciliation: lovely days by tagteamme (T, 16k). in this case, the dog is lwj! hilarity ensues.

does it count as reconciliation if it diverges from canon before wwx dies? i'm not sure. but either way i recommend this series of asks, courtesy of winepresswrath and her army of galaxy-brained anons, which explore the concept of wwx being able to draw on his core after he gives it to jc, but only when they’re holding hands: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11

i love this crack au in which jc is desperate to bring wwx back to life because lwj is convinced that wwx is possessing jc's body and it's CREEPING JC OUT: fic by @sarah-yyy, concept from this @lesbianbaxia thread (which also features fic by @mondengel and @wang-xians that isn’t technically reconciliation because wwx is still dead, but i have to rec it anyway because it’s so good)

but i think perhaps my actual favorite yunmeng shuangjie reconciliation concept of all time is the jc deaging one by @tanoraqui in this post. there isn’t a corresponding fic (afaik), so let’s all just ruminate on it as we fall asleep tonight and perhaps someone will wake up refreshed and ready to make my dreams come true. fingers crossed, anon! here’s hoping.
