"Music is the universal language that speaks to the heart, and in every note, we find the rhythm of our roots, the melody of our resilience, and the lyrics of our shared feminine strength."

On trend with everything Selena, Forever 21 launched a collection inspired by the artist: The White Rose. The line features clothes that both mimic her look and showcase her name and lyrics, so it’s no surprise that the items have sold out. Bidi Bidi Bom Bom, collection gone!

As consumers turn to healthier drink options, Frappuccinos are losing their hype. But to continue driving growth and excitement, Starbucks is jumping on the wellness bandwagon with better-for-you options. #ICYMI they launched a new beverage: the cloud macchiato, made with egg-white powder. The new drink served hot or cold is available in the US as a permanent addition to the menu. But the best part about this new coffee – it drew inspo from the Spanish drink leche merengada. We’ll drink to that!

On what would have been Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 92nd birthday, Netflix announced that they acquired the rights to his masterpiece novel, 100 Years of Solitude. #birthdaygoals. The writer’s family granted the media company the rights under the conditions that the series be produced entirely in Spanish and at least partly produced in Colombia.  Though the news sparked mixed reactions among fans, all share extremely high expectations for Netflix to do well by the seminal work.

More Latinx than ever were eligible to vote in the 2018 midterm elections. More than a quarter (27%) of Hispanics who voted in 2018 said they were voting for the first time ever in a midterm election. For example, in Florida alone the number of registered Hispanic voters increased 8.4% from 2016, contributing to 20% of Florida’s total eligible voters. Not only were Hispanics exercising their right to vote, but many of them made history by running and winning both Senate and gubernatorial seats. MAJOR squad goals.

Music has never been more powerful. Besides mainstream artists like Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson and Common, big names from the Latin music scene like Puerto Rico’s Luis Fonsi and Ricky Martin, have joined many other Latinx musicians in lending their voices in the condemnation of the forcible separation of children from their parents at the border. Social media, and the public opinion in general, have put this issue under a microscope and Latinx celebrities are mobilizing, using their gifts and fame for the greater good.
