heyyyyy you don't know me but i came across your text post about the boy and the heron about the uhhh the uhhhhh mahito's aunt mom and it made me actually go to the movies for the first time since the bovid nineten panademic and hours after the movie i think. i think if i were natsuko, miss thing in world war 2 when resources were getting scarce and my sister died in a really bad event and left a young, hot, rich (possibly stupid) husband and brother in law who had access to resources (canned goods, tobacco) which were luxuries at the time and could potentially take care of me just as well as my now dead sister, his previous wife, i think i could do a hell of a lot worse. shoichi (the dad) was the catch of the century, possibly the millenium by world war 2 standards. other men were probably out dying in wars or just barely scraping by working in the fields or factories. natsuko was probably looking over her choices (which may have just been marrying her brother in law to keep afloat) and thought to herself, "this may very well be the only choice for me that exists" because im not sure how labor for women worked at the time, only that marrying her dead sister's husband may have been the only way for her to ensure she and the household staff didn't starve. (also it looks like the two actually did love each other.) but yes it is fucked up that shoichi got with his sister in law Like That, he could have just taken care of her like a good brother in law WITHOUT PUTTING A BABY IN HER, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE SUS TIMELINE!!!!!!!!
