Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei Calls U.S “Enemies”

Iran’s 81-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei got what he wanted when 60-year-old former Chief of Iran’s Supreme Court Ibrahim Raisi won the June 19 election. No moderates or reformists were allowed to run, with most voters staying home, knowing election was rigged. Khamenei got a successor 65-year-old Gholam Hussein Mohseni-Ejei got shuffled to head Iran’s Supreme Court, in a clear Mullah power grab by Khaemei. While Raisi hasn’t yet been seated as Iran’s new president, it’s clear that Iran will no longer show flexibility needed to restart the July 15, 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JSPOA]. Former President Donald Trump, 75, cancelled the agreement May 8, 2018 negotiated by 59-year-old former President Barack Obama and his 77-year-old former Secretary of State John Kerry over a two-year period. Obama hailed the agreement as delaying Iran’s pursuit of an A-bomb.

Trump cancelled the JCOPA May 8, 2018 because Iran continued its proxy wars with Saudi Arabia and Israel. Watching Yemen’s Houthi rebels attack Saudi Arabia with drones and Cruise missiles, Trump had enough of Iran’s bravado, once Obama gave Iran billions of dollars and sanctions relief. After six rounds of indirect talks in Vienna, Iran suspended talks while they transition to a new government with Raisi taking over for 72-year-old former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Since third-party talks began in April, Khameni insisted that to re-instate the JCPOA Biden must remove all sanctions imposed by Trump. Biden’s been holding firm that Iran must be in full compliance with the JCPOA, limiting Iran’s uranium enrichment to 3.5%. Since ending the deal May 8, 2018, Khamenei has given the green light to ramp up uranium production to 60%, just below weapons grade fissile material.

Biased U.S. press reports all blame Trump for canceling the deal but, at the time, Iran was involved in intractable proxy wars with Saudi Arabia and Israel. Even today, as Biden looks to re-instate the JCPOA with the P5+1, including U.K, France, Germany, Russia and China, Biden holds onto the leverage given to him by Trump. Only the fake news media blames Trump for backing out of the deal. But Iran shows no signs of desisting with its proxy wars against Saudi Arabia, and certainly not Israel. All the press talks about is Trump abandoning a rotten deal that gave Iran the cash needed to go on the warpath in the Mideast and North Africa. “We’re in a transition period as a democratic transfer of power is underway in our capital. [Vienna talks] must thus obviously wait our new administration. This is what every democracy demands,” said Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister.

Whatever the communication with Iran, there are always excuses, this time about Iran’s “democracy.” Araghchi knows the election was rigged and no democracy exists under Iran’s brutal theocracy, where only one dictator, the Ayatollah Khameni, calls the shots. With Iran’s new conservative Mullah government, it’s doubtful that Khaemein or Raisi will make any concessions, especially on scaling back uranium production. “We also hope they don’t think they will get more that the previous government because they are tougher,” said an unnamed State Department official. “It’s not about being tougher, it’s about fully implementing the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal . . . “ said the anonymous official. Biden looks committed to Trump’s position of getting Iran back in compliance to the original JCPOA agreement by verifying that Iran no longer enriches uranium beyond the 3.5% limit.

When the Obama administration cut the deal with Iran, they were convinced that Iran was close to an A-bomb, something denied by Iran from the beginning. All the effort put into Pakistan-designed centrifuges attempted to stockpile enough fissile material to eventually build a bomb. No one in the West believed that Iran’s nuclear enrichment program was about peaceful purposes, including power plants or medical isotopes. While the P5+1 provided a backdrop, they had almost nothing to do with the negotiations between Kerry and Iran’s 62-year-old Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif. Zarif ran afoul with the Ayatollah when he was overheard April 26 criticizing Iran’s Revolutionary Guards for having too much power in Iran’s government. Zarif hasn’t had much to say since, most likely will get replaced once Raisi gets sworn in Aug. 5 as Iran’s president of the parliament.

Khamenei has little good to say about the U.S. in the Vienna talks to re-instate the JCPOA. “Westerners do not help us, they hit whenever they can,” Khamenei said. “They don’t help, the are enemies,” Khamenei said, letting Biden know Iran’s official position. Whatever the prospects of returning to the 2015 Nuke Dealis anyone’s guess. What’s known for sure is that Iran’s has turned more conservative, if that’s possible “If it continues on this path, not only will it continue to delay when and agreement to lift sanctions can be reached, but it risks jeopardizing the very possibility of concluding the Vienna talks and restoring the JCPOA,” said French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Agnes vo der Muhll. Whether the JCOPA is restored or not, Biden must deal with the fact that the agreement was never verified. U.N. weapons inspectors were never allowed in Iran’s secret military enrichment sites.

Sony Classical rinde homenaje a la gran Eileen Farrell con una caja con sus grabaciones para Columbia. A la venta el 31 de enero.

Sony Classical rinde homenaje a la gran soprano estadounidense Eileen Farrell (1920-2002) con la publicación de sus grabaciones completas para Columbia, entre 1946 y 1963, en una caja con 16 CD. Seis LP aparecen por primera vez en CD en Sony Classical y otros dos han sido remasterizados especialmente para esta edición.

Con esta edición, que será muy apreciada por los coleccionistas, se conmemora además el centenario del nacimiento de Farrell con una selección de su amplio repertorio que abarca desde Brünnhilde hasta Broadway y a compositores como Cherubini, Debussy, Gluck y Gershwin.

Entre las grabaciones incluidas en esta caja figuran los ensayos que realizó en Nueva York para el papel de Medea de Cherubini. Fidelity comparó la interpretación de Farrell de forma favorable frente a la de Maria Callas. Otros discos de ópera en esta colección presentan a la gran soprano en los recitales de arias de Verdi y Puccini. Y lo más impresionante llega en su clásica colaboración de Wagner, ganadora de un Grammy en 1961, con la Filarmónica de Nueva York y Leonard Bernstein, en las que mostró una nueva cálidez y espontaneidad.

Su grabación de “La inmolación de Brünnhilde” de El Ocaso de los Dioses y de los “Wesendonck Lieder” también están incluidas aquí y recibieron grandes elogios de crítica y público. La presencia de Farrell en los oratorios está representada por su contribución a la grabación de Bernstein en Nueva York en 1960 de la Missa solemnis de Beethoven, así como por el famosísimo El Mesías, grabado en Filadelfia con Ormandy en 1959.

Nacida en 1920 en Connecticut en una familia de artistas de vodevil, Farrell estudió con una contralto del Met y a los 20 años se mudó a Nueva York con su propio programa de radio en CBS, “Eileen Farrell Sings”. Duró siete años y la hizo famosa (Frank Sinatra fue uno de sus invitados), cantando una mezcla de arias, obras clásicas ligeras, baladas irlandesas y estándares de Broadway.

Esa diversidad está generosamente representada en la nueva edición de Sony. Las primeras grabaciones datan de 1946, durante los años de Farrell como estrella de la radiodifusión. Se trata de un grupo de canciones que celebra con orgullo la herencia irlandesa de la cantante. Al igual que muchos de los otros discos de la caja, aparece por primera vez en CD.

Entre la multitud de oyentes fascinados por el programa de radio de Farrell estaba Leopold Stokowski, con quien hizo su debut en la Filarmónica de Nueva York en 1949. El entonces director musical de la orquesta, Dimitri Mitropoulos, pronto se convirtió en su mentor, y en 1951 interpretó a Marie, de la ópera Wozzeck de Alban Berg, en el Carnegie Hall. Columbia lo grabó y lo lanzó. Finalmente, Farrell actuaría junto a la orquesta de Nueva York en más de 60 ocasiones.

Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 Conference Program

Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 kicks off tomorrow, and we have a conference guide for those lucky enough to attend. ADE 2018 will host numerous events that include panel discussions, pop-up performances, tech schools, and charity events. Go here for ADE 2018’s full conference program.

Wednesday 17th

Day one starts off with ADE Green at the DeLaMar Theater with panels discussing the effects touring has on mental health and the responsible use of plastics.

ADE Pro will also be at the DeLaMar Theater with the opening keynote speech delivered by Yann Pissenem, the owner, founder, and CEO of The Night League, which is the company behind clubs Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza. Yann will discuss the influence of art, architecture, commerce, culture, and music when creating clubs as well as brands. Paul van Dyk will give his first public interview at ADE Pro since falling off the stage at the A State of Trance festival. ADE Pro will feature a discussion regarding utilizing music for positive change with Rave for a Revolution! panelist BASSIANI. The discussion will be based on the ongoing project ‘I Dance Alone’ by Serbian/Dutch artist, curator, and researcher Bogomir Doringer. A keynote speech will be delivered by Zoe Margolis for ‘Us Too – Sexism, Shaming and Standing up for What’s Right in the Age of Social Media.’

ADE Sound Lab will feature ‘The Record Bag of 30 Years of Dutch Dance.’ DJs will share the records that inspired them when house music came to the Netherlands.

ADE BeamLab at the Festival Hangout will highlight the audiovisual arts with Weltmaschine ”World-machine” developed by Albert van Abbe and Andreas Nicolas Fischer.

Attendees at ADE University can meet the team behind Audio Obscura. ADE Audio Obscura will be hosting nine events this year over five days at locations that include Central Station and the Scheepsvaart Museum

‘The House of China’ at De Balie is a new platform to connect Chinese and international electronic music industries to present the latest developments, opportunities as well as challenges in the Chinese market.

Thursday 18th

The keynote interview for ADE Pro at the DeLaMar Theater will be with Soundcloud’s CEO, Kerry Trainor, who will be discussing the future of SoundCloud, the important role of the electronic dance community on the platform, and share new developments for DJs all live from the ADE stage. Def Jam VP, Bruce Carbone, will discuss at ADE Pro crossover music in ‘The Power of Pop – What the New Generation of Pop/Dance Acts Can Learn from the 90s.’

ADE Music Talks will welcome Grammy award winning artist and music legend Nile Rodgers.

Netsky and Lost Frequencies will be dissecting the track that they made together ‘Here With You’ onstage for ADE Sound Lab at the Festival Hangout. ADE Sound Lab will also be ‘In the Studio with De Sluwe Vos and Lucas & Steve’ as well as have the new format ‘The Record Bag with Jayda G & Kenny Dope.’

Alan Walker will join ADE University at the DeLaMar Theater to feature trends, successes, and opportunities in China as well as meet the team behind the Headhunterz.

ADE Tech at the DeLaMar Theater will have five finalists compete to win during the ‘Companies to Watch’ session. Laidback Luke will also discuss his early days as a vinyl-only DJ recounting how tech changed his performances and how that affected his relationship with the crowd.

Friday 19th

ADE Beats at the Melkweg kicks off with Major Lazer’s Jillionaire answering questions regarding his musical career and his global approach to pushing his music forward. There will be a keynote Q&A with Khady Thiam Gueye, COO of KonLive, which is the company founded by her brother Akon. Khady will discuss her global perspective on the industry and its worldwide potential. Khady will be joined by London On Da Track to share stories of his influence on hip-hop and electronic music. Shanti Das will discuss her contributions creating a more inclusive and healthy music industry. She will emphasize her campaign Silence the Shame that tackles the stigmas around mental health and offer healthy alternatives in the music industry.

David Guetta will return to ADE Pro at the DeLaMar Theater for an intimate conversation regarding his early days and formative influences in music as well as reveal what and who inspired him on his latest recording “7.”

ADE MusicTalks at the Sound Lab will have Bonobo making his speaker debut discussing his musical journey. Xosar will host a workshop on sound healing focusing on awareness of the effects of sound on the human brain and body.

ADE University at the DeLaMar Theater will host a panel on ‘The Power of Playlists.’ Tiga and Kölsch will discuss the pros and cons of starting a label as well as what they’ve both learned regarding labels over their careers.

ADE Dance & Brands at the DeLaMar Theater will present a keynote talk regarding working with musicians in creating cohesive brand and music messages.

The third edition of the 24 hour ADE Hackathon will be held in the center of the conference area around Leidseplein where they will be looking for a mix of music, technology, data, entrepreneurship, and innovation from creative minds.

Saturday 20th

Imogen Heap at ADE Sound Lab will highlight how innovations like Distributed Ledger Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality have the potential to influence music makers. Colin Benders will also utilize his module synthesizers to show the ins and outs of his work-process during his masterclass.

The Music Talk stage will welcome one of the founding fathers of the Future House movement, Don Diablo, to discuss his continually rising career.

Demolition XXIII, Dave Clarke, and a panel of DJs, producers as well as music industry professionals will give critiques of attendees work to close out the conference program.
