Team Prime Character Bios

Jack

I have headcanoned Jack to be pansexual and polygender, he uses all pronouns interchangeably. He is half Korean half White. Jack's jacket is based on Arcee's paint job, and the weapon on her prosthetic arm is based on her arm blades. I gave them long fall boots, simply due to how much active work he has to do to find the artifacts. The two gems in the center of their metal cover chest are the compressed ashes of June and Agent Fowler, who passed away naturally after they were not hit with the artifact beam. The dog tag is something she had custom made, at the same time as Miko and Raf's were custom made. She gave those dog tags to Miko and Raf, the metal being made out of scrap Cybertronian biometal. Once their dog tags were infused with their blood, they were able to create an EM field like Cybertronians.

Miko

I headcanoned Miko as a demigirl lesbian, they use she/they pronouns. She is Japanese. Miko's weapon is able to morph into any kind of weapon she needs. It is made of plasma matter, a product of one of Raf's and Graham's Red Bull feed, 3am, invention making sprees. She also has a shield that is able to expand to cover herself and anyone they are protecting. In a conflict with a gang of people trying to take the Cybertronian artifact, her face got sprayed with an acid that melted half of their left side. Her eye was replaced with a cybernetic optic, while metal plating reconstructed the rest. In that same fight, she also got her entire right leg crushed, and when they were finally able to escape with the artifact back to base, it was basically hanging off by the bone. It was amputated, and she now has a collection of different prosthetic legs she uses based on the job.

Raf

I headcanoned Raf as aroace, and he uses he/him pronouns. His Latino/Hispanic heritage is Salvadorian. His spine is a cybernetic spine that has a protective casing around it. From that casing different arms are able to be added on, allowing him to have more "hands" for working on his tech. He spends most of his day tinkering with Doc Green and Graham, while also decoding the Iacon database and documenting the similarities and differences between humans and Cybertronians.

An explanation for the age listed. Those are the ages that they were when the Iacon Relic that extends their life spans went off. Because of that, they are physically not aging, so those ages are what they look like for the rest of their life. In the canon present, aka the cyberpunk future, they are over 300 years old.

AU fact number 3 ig: Jackson is in a symbiotic relationship with the AllSpark that has grafted itself inside of his chest and to his heart. The AllSpark is not only the heart of Cybertron- it and the Matrix of Leadership both are objects of immense power and divinity, and both were once the heart and the mind of the creator and progenitor Primus himself, hence rendering their destinies and the destinies of their carriers- two of the chosen champions of Primus- tied inseparably.

The AllSpark also carries the memories and knowledge of Primus and the Thirteen like the Matrix of Leadership. It takes the form of a fathomless crystal with engravings on them similar to First Ones Runes or semiconductor lines, the central one being a heart. Funny, since it ends up grafting itself onto Jack's HEART before the nerve-like tendrils it grows to merge with his organs attaches itself to his spine as well.

Guess that's another reason why in this AU, he and Optimus grow SO attached to and soft for one another as their relationship with one another evolves and blooms into basically a father/son type relationship.

TFP Warrior Cats au (Allegiances) part 2

TFP's humans as rats. I picked rats because i didn't really know what else to do, rats act pretty humanlike, and rats were shown to be intelligent and able to speak with cats in Firestar's Quest.

Also features characters from Prime comics, and some characters like Raf's family and Miko's family who are practically OCs because they had zero characterization in canon. I might make rat designs for every human character who lives in Jasper, or indeed every single character on the linked page, so i'll have background characters. Though making rats distinct is hard especially when i'm trying to keep most of them looking like they could be wild rats.

I guess that the Cybertronian artifact not only expanded their human lives but also their storage brain capacity. What do I mean? Not to be mean or say that your Cyber-continuity doesn't have sense. Like, NO, IS AWSOME AND I CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE. I'm just a dumb person who likes to search for things that catch my attention and made me want to ramble... sorry.

But if you wanna take this into consideration when the thing with the relic happens and you want to explain something, I'll leave you with this. No need to listen actually.

The complexity of longevity with humans lies in the inability of organists to withstand the burdens of operating for more than a couple hundred two hundred years, basically, joints would eventually begin to break down under their own weight and stress, that's why we turn into dust when we die, but of course, lest remember that this is a Cyberpunk dystopia so fortunately, robotic organs will be the next fashion heat!!

But is it possible to replace all the various parts of a body?

Unfortunately no, there are limits, and those limits lay in our brains!! A human being is capable of storing around 100 terabytes of memory, or, what are the same, 100,000 gigabytes of memory, experiences, knowledge, etc. All of them are embedded in our heads thanks to the aforementioned neurons. It may seem like a huge number but eventually, likely in 300 years, a human brain would be full of memories, information, and all kind of stuff, making a person unable to put two words together, feel disoriented, as if you had a "brain fog." Having trouble finding things that could be in front of you. Feeling very confused, taking longer to process new information, or having trouble understanding things. Difficulty making decisions or analyzing things... etc. Let us also not forget about diseases that deteriorate the brain, neurodegenerative diseases, that make this process painfully faster.

Is an incredible concept for horror. But like I said, this is just me doing research on a topic that I just got focused on because I need to stress myself.

I am glad you asked this, cause I did not realize this about the human brain!

Old lore is in italics and is not 100% anymore

For the body

How they stay the same age looks wise is because their bodies are essentially put into a stasis-like state. So their joints don't wear down, their organs don't fail, and and things like cancer don't really grow. The only things that do seem to change is their blood cells and keratin in their body, so their hair and nails still grow. This is all based around Cybertronian anatomy.

The artifact was created by Cybertronians, who when creating it used Cybertronian anatomy as a basis. Now, human and Cybertronian anatomy are different, but hold many similarities. The relic had targeted the organs and parts of the human body that were shared in similarity with Cybertronians.

Things such as brains, circulatory system, eyes, muscles, bones, skin, and digestive system are all examples of similarities between the two species. The relic effected these organs, making them similar to how Cybertronian organs are. This means that the blood will still regenerate, they still have to eat, and they will still mentally age. However, things that are not comparable to Cybertronian anatomy were effected differently.

The relic had no clue how to handle things like hair, nails, lungs, reproductive systems, and other organs such as spleens and kidneys. There was no translation of these organs to Cybertronian organs, so the relic just didn't do much with them. Inner organs were put into stasis, still functioning but they were only effected due to being in proximity to other comparable organs. Hair and nails just weren't really messed with by the relic.

However that can have some big drawbacks. Their skin does not grow back to form scabs and scars, which can lead to wounds continuing to bleed. Their blood is able to clot cause in blood there are red blood cells and white blood cells. The white blood cells have something known as a platelet, which creates the blood clots. Since their bodies are no longer able to regenerate their skin, skin grafting surgery is required for large wounds.

Obviously, with several of the characters, this is not an option they are able to take. Miko for example got an acid poured on her face during a recon mission, and skin grafting would not have fixed this. That is why she has a metal plating around her head. Jack's chest also has metal plating after getting an injury across his chest. Most of the small scars you see on our human characters either came before the beam blasted them, or were the result of donor skin grafting. Kade's burn scar for instance is one of the injuries that is received before the beam hits the group.

Now for the brain issue

In Cyberpunk Edgerunners, which is one of my many inspirations, we are introduced to these ports in the skin.

These ports as seen in EP 2 "Like a Boy", David and Lucy are seen stealing a technology known as Datashards from Corpo people. These Datashards can contain anything from money, information, photos, videos, schematics, etc.

It's basically a glorified SD card.

We are also introduced to Deep Dive Tech. This kind of technology is connected to the occipital lobe to allow for high amounts of data transfer between minds or mind and technology. This is highly dangerous and requires trained professionals to operate.

So what does this mean for my continuity?

Both of these heavily inspired what I plan to do for the brain situation.

These brain ports are connected to the occipital lobe just the Deep Dive Tech. Memories are able to be copied, downloaded, transferred, and even deleted. This allows for the operator, Raf majority of the time, to be able to extract the memories not needed for everyday life from the rest of Team Prime and the Rescue Team. Miko even asked for him to delete the memory she had of getting half of her face melted off, which is perfectly understandable in that situation.

The memories that are extracted are able to be returned to the person as well. Kade for instance had his memories of Hailey copied and extracted, put onto a hard drive specifically for those exact memories. Hailey was not one of the people hit by the beam, leading to Kade losing her by her dying of old age. He had his memories of her extracted so that he wasn't constantly reminded that she was gone, but he could also redownload those memories when he needed to.

So that's my idea for fixing the memory capacity issue! Yes it's very sci fi bullshit, but that's the fun part of cyberpunk universes.

Chapter 2 of Shades of Me Chapter 2: In which Megatron does Jack a favor:

Summary: There are many different shades of Optimus Prime. And at some point in their complicated history, Megatron had become familiar with them all. The data droid, the Prime, the fearless, Autobot leader? He had grown accustomed to his former rival's varied existence. But Optimus Prime, the bot who decided to insert himself into the lives of three human children and their families? The mech who has devoted himself to the lives of humans? This is new.

(TW: mention of drug use amongst teenagers, nothing serious)

In Jack’s defense, the day had been a shit show. He had failed a science exam he had actually studied for, had left his wallet in the laundry, so had no lunch money, had been harassed at the drive through by college students with too much time on their hands, and had gotten passed up on another “mission” Fowler had assigned the team on (all thanks to Arcee, actually. According to Wheeljack, she had “mother henned” very badly that morning). And now, he was alone without Raf and Miko for a good week and a half.

He had made it a point to block them both on social media for that time too.

So who could blame him for partaking in the number one, run-of-the-mill illegal activity for America’s youth at the time? Besides, it wasn’t like it was meth. It was just weed. And it had done some good. He actually got along with Vince this time. Sure it took twenty dollars and sworn secrecy (“If you snitch to the cops, you’re fucking dead, Darby”), but they’d managed to speak for five minutes without cursing the shit of each other. A little. So he considered that a win.

Presently, he nestled himself in between a stack of empty energon crates, making certain that the base was completely empty before he lit his joint. And even if someone did happen to walk in, at least in a base full of robots, no one could smell the scent of weed. Parents on the other hand could. And he wanted to be as far away from his mother as possible.

At the first inhale, Jackson Darby was in absolute bliss. He let the smoke work its magic, and felt the tension of the day unfurl within him. Putting his backpack on the ground, he leaned his head on it to make himself a makeshift pillow and let himself drift further and further into relaxation.

Jack stayed by himself for a good while, letting the smoke work its magic. And for a very long time, it did.

Until it didn’t.

“I was not aware that humans needed gas to survive.”

Looming above him, peering into the open space amongst the tower of metal cubes like a scientist looking at a lab sample, was Megatron. Jack nearly choked. For two reasons–one, being caught high as a kite, by Megatron of all beings, was not how Jack wanted to spend his evening. At all. He was already pissed off. No need to add fear to his growing list of emotional grievances.

Two–where Megatron was, Optimus was sure to follow. Megatron did not casually associate with humans for no reason, and avoided The Base alone at all cost. His appearance, from what Jack could tell, was relaxed, and he had no Decepticon guard accompanying. So that meant Optimus was close by.

Great. Optimus knew enough about humans to know high schoolers shouldn’t be smoking. And Ratchet would know enough to know they shouldn’t be smoking weed. They might not be able to smell, but Megatron would tell them what he saw.

He could already see it–the ridiculous butterfly effect of Megatron telling Optimus, then Optimus telling Ratchet, who would tell Fowler, who would tell his mom.

He swallowed dryly. The anxiety overriding the calming effects of his joint. That was frustrating.

“Um.. Is Opti–”

The distant ‘clank’ ‘clank’ against The Base ground had told him everything he needed to know. He’d cataloged the loud, yet gentle footsteps that announced Opitmus’s presence ages ago. And while he would have been glad to talk to Optimus on any other occasion, today was not the day.

According to the schedule, no one was supposed to even be here. They were supposed to be in Cybertron for the week. All of them (“You Organics have The Base for the week, try not to mess it up.” Someone had said–probably Knockout, who’d been “banished” there after he’d been found smuggling things off of The Nemesis” ).

Why was Megatron, and apparently Optimus, here?

Megatron continued to look on, unblinking. The red optics taking in Jack’s obvious distress as Optimus grew closer.

“--I uh–do you have a cockpit or something?” Sober, Jack would never ask Megatron this. He wasn’t like Miko who’d made her rounds through all the Decepticons who could fly. He preferred to stay on the ground, and not in the belly of his former nemesis.

“No, but I have a small subspace large enough to carry energon cubes.” The stoic visage broke as the words slipped off of Megatron’s derma, as if he were supplying basic information to a doctor. Surprise colored his features.

“Great. Can I please get in it? Like, now.” Jack stood to his feet and grabbed his bag, stomping the joint out onto the ground, “Like before Optimus comes in point five seconds.” He repeated, with urgency.

“--And she got kicked out of class, again! Art class! I thought Miko liked art class.” Uptight and pompous as always, the echo of Ratchet’s voice bounced against the base walls. Jack’s heart dropped to his stomach. Of course Ratchet was with Optimus too.

“I don’t see–”

“Listen, i’ll clean out your ship for a week, i’ll polish–you or whatever, just please let me in your subspace.”

The Decepticon had very little time to debate, for Jack had already walked up to him, hand hesitantly touching the metal on his pedes.

Megatron hesitated. If this child was harmed while under his watch, he had no doubt that Optimus would be the one to throw them into another war without a second thought. He seemed to lose his fabled reason when it came to the human children. And while they had gotten somewhat closer since the treaty, he was not ready to risk Optimus’s wrath simply because he decided to be nice.

In all honestly, he debated on walking away. He should have walked away.

But Jack Darby had made an uncharacteristic attempt to bridge the unspoken gap between Decepticon and autobot. Decepticon and human. . And while he was not clearly in control of all of his facilities (a quick scan of his bio signatures had confirmed that), Megatron respected his bravery. And it would not go unrewarded.

“Very well then,” and seamlessly, he transformed. Jack didn’t hesitate. Like an insect, he crawled onto Megatron, closing the open hatch as he did so. And he did so just in time, for Optimus and Ratchet had arrived. The latter announcing his presence with his usual grumbles and grunts. Megatron bore through it as much as he could, but with an organic within him, it was proving harder than he had thought.

To say it was uncomfortable was an understatement. It was nearly unbearable. He fought his own emergency protocols that demanded he expel the alien lifeform harbored inside of him, and the battle of wills was the hardest one he had fought in ages.

An organic within him, twisting and turning, stowing away while he forced himself to make somewhat civil conversation with Ratchet who questioned why he was trapped in the autobot base, in his vehicle mode, near the energon storage, and many other questions with the objective to incriminate him.

As usual, Optimus remained silent, letting Ratchet handle all the complaining for him. Oh how Megatron would have loved to silence him. If time couldn’t do it, he certainly had the right to. But that was the old him, he kept reminding himself. He could hate it, but he couldn’t act on it.

And certainly not with a human larva running it’s fingers within the innermost parts of Megatrons’s frame.

“Get your hands away from my T-Cog!” He hissed, just as the human’s small fingers retracted

“What?” Ratchet snapped at him, “Have you lost your mind–wait, don’t answer that. I know you have. The Dark Energon is still messing with your processor. I don’t usually take Starscream seriously, but even he knew you shouldn’t have been messing with that…”

He rolled his optics. He couldn’t answer without giving his organic charge away. So he bore the interrogation until Ratchet stormed off, muttering about Decepticons and their inclinations to energon that did not belong to them.

“Yes?” Megatron asked as Optimus remained, silent and unmoving. He was unnerving at times. His ex-enemy. His friend. His partner?

Even for a robot, his stillness was unusual. But Optimus always was, wasn’t he.

“Jack, why are you hiding in Megatron?” Had Megatron been in his alt mode, he would have gaped at the Prime’s perceptiveness. It was nearly impossible to detect anything past his armor, let alone an organic. Yet he did not feel like giving Optimus the satisfaction of seeing right through him, and instead remained silent as the teenager managed to find his way out of his hull.

“Megatron, this is not the…wisest thing you've done.” He could tell from his tone that Optimus was less than pleased, though tamed it well underneath his tone. To Megatron’s surprise, it was the organic that came to his defense.

“OP” Megatron could have rolled his optics at the absurd name, “It wasn’t his fault, I was smo–studying and I wanted a quiet place to do it, and everything around here was loud, you know.” Jack spoke as he kicked the lower hatch open, tossed his backpack out first, and let himself fall to the ground. Megatron whirled into life, frame towering over both Jack and Optimus. Though the latter, not by much. Optimus’s optics widened.

“What, are you surprised he’s still alive?” He sneered, walking past the Prime, mindful not to step on Jack, “It’s as the fleshing said, he was studying.” He had no reason to stay here. Prime was with his favorite human, and Megatron could return to The Nemesis to get his processor checked for whatever virus had possessed him to harbor a human within his frame.

He’d come back for what he was looking for later on.

“I’m surprised you did something kind for him. And I'm surprised you’re willing to lie for him.”

Jack’s jaw dropped. Megatron stopped as he turned around, glare dangerous.

“You dare accuse me of lying?” He snarled. Optimus remained stoic as always. “Jack, we might not be able to smell in the sense that you can. But we have registered scent particles from Earth. We can see them. Bulkhead had to have a talk to Miko about marijuana last week, and the week before that. We are familiar with it.” He stated plainly. “And now Megatron “smells” of it.”

“Sometimes I forget you guys are super advanced robots,.” Jack says, defeated, “Is there a chance this stays between the three of us?”

“Absolutely not. However, you get to decide whether we tell your mother or Ratchet first.”

While Jack debated aloud why he should have told neither of them, Optimus found Megatron’s glare, which had now relented into perplexity. This situation was so absurd to him.

“ Yes? ” He repeated. Optimus remained still for only a moment longer, before a meek smile crept onto his face plate.

“What?” Megaton asked, baffled. That was unexpected.

“Nothing.” And like that, Optimus had once again given Jack his full attention, guiding the boy out of the base and to where he’d presumably find Ratchet. Primus help the poor fleshling , Megatron thought to himself, as he turned back to the space where he’d found the boy, thinking of that smile Optimus left him with.

And with Optimus gone, he returned to his present task.

AU Facts Update- Jackson Darby:

For context, Jackson is 16 by the time this specific AU’s first episode (2023) takes place. June is 41, having married at 25 and having Jackson at 26, and having lost her husband Isaiah to illness at 36. Miko’s 16, Raf is 12, Fowler is 39.

He’s a LOT like Luz Noceda. Huge nerd, queer, neurodivergent, BIPOC. Only difference is that he’s Black and Second-Gen Immigrant Pakistani American and Luz is Afro-Latina (Dominican American on Mom’s side and Puerto Rican on Dad’s side, they were most likely from Queens in my AU)

They both have all the exaggerated swagger of a black teen tho 👍

Has a round face, freckles from the sun more visible in summer, dimples, and prominent fang teeth (gremlin face >:D)

They moved from Brooklyn, New York to Jasper, Nevada in order to have a better hospital to treat his father. But they couldn’t save him. Jackson was six at the time his father had to go to urgent care, and seven at the time his father was confined to a wheelchair, and eight when they moved from Brooklyn to Jasper. When Jackson turned ten, his father had succumbed to his illness and died.

Things didn’t get better after his father died. Jackson threw himself into his passions and his everyday affairs just to make his mom not worry about him. In his eyes, she already had enough on her plate, trying to support the family after his dear Baba had died. To add fuel to the fire, Jackson was bullied by his peers for who he was as well, and the teachers, overly critical and unaccommodating of him, refused to help.

At the beginning of the first season (chronologically nearing summer break), June has gained back a high-end job that overworks her. Once she learns about the Autobots and her son’s involvement with them, the war and the AllSpark, she quits and does everything she can to protect and aid them.

I think I’ve already entailed his identities: Bisexual, Intersex (Klinefelter’s- traits included being curvier than the average man + broader shoulders) and Genderqueer (he/him primarily but also goes by they/them)

He has ADHD and anemia, and later on in the series he develops PTSD, depression and insomnia.

He’s an amputee- has a lower leg prosthetic from above the knee. They are replacements for the good chunk of the leg that he lost in a saw accident. There is also a burn scar on his bicep.

Jackson LOVES research and inventions. Since he was a child, he was driven by a burning curiosity that has always had him wanting to learn more about the wider universe.

Him being a sci-fi nerd has only positively reinforced his love for all kinds of science and research, evolving from surface level knowledge to deeper understandings that only ever continue to evolve.

Instead of specializing in one specific field, he loves to study all of them- from chemicals to animals to archaeology on artifacts and dug up animal remains so that he can carbon date them (even if he does have a small affinity for working with mechanical things and computers)

Ever since he was a child, he’s always had video diaries recorded of his life experiences and experiments. Later on, when the Autobots watch them, they are provided glimpses into Jackson’s life and the kind of person that he was and became over time.

In this Transformers Prime alternate universe, there’s a franchise called Celestial Odyssey that started out as a comic series first, then became an entire franchise with a whole series alongside an “upcoming” reboot, several movie spin-offs and video games plus spinoff comics. Jackson LOVES this series to bits, and his father introduced it to both him and his mother.

His leather jacket has the Celestial Odyssey logo that he painted himself on the back: he also has a lot of merchandise in his room from the franchise, like posters, action figures, even painted sections of certain walls reminiscent of that ‘space’ aesthetic, et cetera. Hell, he even has a copy of the necklace of one of the characters from the show.

Seriously- whenever someone even mentions that show, he basically becomes the definition of an unskippable cutscene.

Jackson loves colors and colorful little patches and decorations on his outfits! Well, ones without eye-strain, to be exact.

He begs his mother to go to cosplay conventions, she agrees whenever they have the time and the conditions are absolutely perfect and basically primed to make it an incredible fan experience. It’s to honor their father, who was just as much of an absolute nerd as them.

Fowler knew Jackson’s father from the army, but he didn't find out until later. It takes a few episodes for them to warm up to each other enough, and their relationship only continues to develop. At its blossoming point, they fight like siblings, but still fiercely love and care for one another.
