Summary: Vincent wakes up nearly thirty years after being locked up in a coffin by Hojo and Lucrecia to find that they’re both dead and Sephiroth, against all odds, is alive and well—or as well as a genetic experiment can be. After a bit of coercion and emotional blackmail from Rufus and Veld, Vincent decides to rejoin the Turks as Head of the Department. Things go rather well until Vincent starts getting hot flashes and, almost at the same time, Sephiroth approaches him with a desire to be friends.

That 4Chan leak~

This post could have spoilers.

This leak specified that the next title of FF7R is “Rebirth”, which ended up being true.

Game starts at Kalm and ends at the Forgotten Capitol

Red XIII, Yuffie, Vincent, and Shelke are playable

Cid is sadly not but appears in cutscenes and can sell upgrades for weapons and vehicles (this was also from a very early leak)

There are parts of the game where you play as Zack and Cloud from the other timeline and they occasionally crossover with main cast

Boss fight against Zack as well

Palmer boss fight starts out like the original but then Sephiroth intervenes and mutates him into a giant heartless Jenova monster thing

Deepground are also a big player and have turned Wedge into one of them

Boss fight with Tifa solo fighting "Rosso"

Triceratops tank is a optional boss fight

Midgardsormr is a cinematic boss fight you fight early on

Jessie is alive and is part of some Gold Saucer play/tv show where she's part of some kind of Super Sentai team

End of game has Zack saving Aerith from getting stabbed but it turns out Aerith is being used by Minerva as a vessel and transforms into her. Genesis also appears and has planned this entire alter(n)ate timeline ******** to happen. He merges with her becoming The Warrior of Light. Cloud tries to intervene but gets mortally wounded by him.

Game ends with Cloud dying in Tifa's arms with Zack taking the mantle as the leader of the party.

The Cloud that was with Zack from the alternate timeline is kidnapped by Sephiroth for some reason.

The general consensus is that Part 3 is titled “Reunion” (although the Crisis Core Remake is already called “Reunion”), and since Cloud dies, well, you can just imagine. From the trailer to Rebirth, Tifa asks if Cloud thinks she’s an imposter and there’s a disembodied conversation between someone (sounds like Zack, but some people say Cloud, to Aerith) (Edit: In Japanese by Audrey: "Where are you, Zack? We came here together 5 years ago." between Cloud & Zack...I don’t get it, I kind of hear Zack & Aerith)

Assuming the leak were true, the Terra stuff would go over the leaker’s head, but if it was true then Terra doesn’t appear in Part 2, but it feels very likely to be Part 3. One thing I would have been right on is that Zack is symbolically the original main character of FF7, and it gives the leak credibility that he would end up replacing Cloud (that’s not an idea people just randomly throw around).

Another is that Zack would do something to stop Aerith from dying, although I didn’t mention it as that, but it’s been in my head for a long time now...it’s just that we don’t know how he’s able to do this as of now.

It could be that the storyline of FF7 is becoming that of “if Zack was the main character”, which is why Genesis appears at the end of it as if he were the final boss. This leak leaves the future of Cloud uncertain, but we at least know that Terra is heavily implied all over Part 1, because Cloud’s the original main character of FF6. Whatever Zack/Aerith do and say is a mirror to Cloud/Terra.

Honestly, it didn’t seem right that Terra would just casually appear in Part 2 as it’s supposed to be a big reveal. It could be that Zack’s appearance in WoFF was a hint about Terra rather than him actually meeting Terra. SE may want to make the love-triangle stuff die first before showing Cloud’s actual love interest.

People would play Rebirth with the assumption that only Tifa could be Cloud’s love interest at this point since Zack is alive and clearly looking for Aerith. The ending will leave people duped.

So...what, does this mean that neither Tifa nor Aerith die and that Zack is now the main character FF7R in Part 3? Yeah, but “Hollow” still sounds similar to Terra’s theme, and removing Cloud definitely doesn’t make this into a “remake”...more like a “remaking”. There was a moment in the Ever Crisis trailer where Sephiroth was shown with short hair and some people assumed it was Genesis or younger Sephiroth.

After these reveals, and since Terra may not appear in Part 2, there may be other games with Clerra scenes and hints once again just like the last two times. We still don’t know anything about Kingdom Hearts 4. If Cloud dies, will they put him in Quadratum? DFFOO Act 4 is most certainly going to do something, since Act 3 ended with that cliff-hanger about Cloud’s memory (even Tifa mentioned it).

This leak doesn’t mention Cait Sith. This leak doesn’t mention anything related to Junon, Fort Condor, Costa Del Sol, Gongaga, Corel Mountains, Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim, Rocket Town, Wutai, or the Temple of the Ancients. This leak is very shallow and is heavy on showing that Crisis Core & Dirge of Cerberus are now in the main story, as well as talking about only those things that are “popular”.

1. Yuffie becomes a ghost, but instead of being angry that she died she takes this an an incredible opportunity to be an even better ninja

5. Genesis referring to Cloud as "little doll" and Cloud being ok with it

6. Genesis x Aerith cause they'd get along swimmingly and would be a deadly combination, ngl

8. Genesis gets kidnapped by the fae and winds up being pampered. He doesn't even want to go home after that argument he'd had with Angeal. Him? Heartless? How dare he accuse him of such a thing! He was just looking out for Sephiroths best interests...

9. Sephiroth growing increasingly exasperated in a meeting with the directors and telling them that the answers to all his personal life problems won't simply fall out of the sky.

The universe chooses that moment to have Cloud Strife fall through the ceiling.

The president, taking this as a sign, takes this opportunity to order the blond to be Sephiroths personal servant.

10. On the "Sephiroth keeps giving Cloud gifts to woo him" prompt I've seen:

It started off with flowers, which he supposed was normal, then it was alcohol. OK, he can deal with that. He liked some hard liquor from time to time. Then it was his favorite snacks. How Sephiroth even knew what he liked was a mystery to him and honestly made him a little paranoid. But this? He wasn't sure what to make of the black silk pillow in his arms, and contemplated burning the thing, that was, until the first time he used it.

Lady Hel, it was soft! He fell asleep on it quickly, but the pillow couldn't even compare to the soft downy feather blanket the former general gifted him. Never before had Cloud loved a wing so much!

11. Au where Cloud is a mountain hermit and Sephiroth is a celebrity. The silverette is both shocked and relieved when this blond guy doesn't recognize him. He's a little miffed that he's trying to shoo him off the mountain, since he booked a cabin to stay in for a few months...but he can't find the cabin.

And according to Strife, his family has owned the entire mountain for generations. The blond admits he's been having problems with trespassers and people trying to build on his land, but had always managed to chase them off, weather it be with his guns or with the larger wildlife he managed to befriend.

Sephiroth decided he really liked the blond and wanted to know more, so he lied and told him he had nowhere to go for the next few months, prompting Cloud to allow him to stay...as long as he can pull his own weight

(LOL, Sephiroth got scammed)

12. Time travel au where future AVALANCHE and Shinra are at war.

Zack pulls pranks as a form of stress relief, however he has pranked so many people so often that they want revenge.

All the SOLDIERs decided to randomly start singing bits of "It's a small world" to zack casually in mid conversation and act like nothing happened, thus driving the spikey haired 2nd crazy. Even Sephiroth is pulled into it.

The absolute best part is that SOLDIER and the Turks have a two day ceasefire with AVALANCHE for the sole purpose of messing with Zack

13. Au where Sephiroth won in AC and keeps Cloud by his side at all times.

He dotes on the smaller man and enjoys "playing with him", aka making him dress up and do activities with him, like a real doll.

He even went so far as to make life sized "Doll houses". Cloud usually stays trapped inside his own mind, but even he has noticed the odd sort of reverence his master seems to hold for him. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

14. Doll au where Cloud managed to seal Sephiroth away inside his doll body to keep him from reviving himself again. He can hear Sephiroth making snide remarks and speaking in the back of his mind.

He now knows Vincents problem a little too well.

15. Reeve finally snapps and repeatedly wacks Scarlett over the top of the head with his thick stack of papers while yelling, "You. Will. Not. Treat. My. Subordinates. That. Way!"

Kunsel has a video of the incident on his phone and he likes to rewatch it when he's feeling down.

I’m so sorry for getting this done so late, I’ve been in a fog of worry these past few days with the current state of the world.

How I feel about this character

Sephiroth: Evil bastard that I used to hate with a burning passion until I was about 11 years old I realised how awesome and interesting he is and in turn made me fall madly in love with him. I have never been the same since the day I became a Sephiroth fan, my love for him has only grown and continues to grow to this day.

Aerith: Oh, my sweet Flower Girl! Aerith was the very first FF character I loved waaaaaaaay back when I used to watch my older brother play the original FFVII when I was little. I aspire to be just as kind and caring as Aerith.

Lucrecia: My lovely flawed Lucy... I've always found her interesting since the original FFVII and thought it strange that Square Soft/Enix didn't give her a more major role aside from her past. But when Dirge of Cerberus got released in the country where I live and I played it Lucrecia instantly became one of my favourite FFVII characters.

Jenova: Enigmatic creepy alien lady whom I was scared to death of as a little kid and now as an adult, I love her and find her extremely fascinating.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Sephiroth: Jenova. Yes... I know what you're all thinking... but they're my rare-pair OTP whom I love with every fibre of my being! Hence my username!

Aerith: Cloud and Zack. Clerith was the very first FFVII ship that I fell in love with waaaaaaaay back when I was a little girl and I still love that ship even to this day. I've always loved Zerith, too, especially in Crisis Core, their interactions were very cute.

Lucrecia: Vincent. Lucrecia's and Vincent's story in DoC destroyed me and I really wish they could've ended up together.

Jenova: Sephiroth. Sephinova just makes perfect sense to me.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Sephiroth: Hmmmmm... probably Angeal and Zack? I've always liked Sephiroth's friendships with them.

Aerith: I absolutely love the friendship between Aerith and Tifa. Despite they both have romantic feelings for Cloud and the hinted jealousy towards each other they never once allowed their feelings to get in the way of their friendship and I think that's very beautiful.

Lucrecia: I'd say Ifalna. As far as canon goes, Lucrecia and Ifalna never knew each other but I'd like to think that they would be really good friends and learn a lot from each other.

Jenova: I've always loved the loyalty Kadaj has for Jenova. He'd do absolutely anything to make her happy and I'm sure she's pleased to have a very obedient son/puppet.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Sephiroth: I think Sephiroth would hate and never forgive Lucrecia for agreeing to The Jenova Project if he knows/had known that she is his birth mother. A lot of fans like to believe otherwise but I just can't get on board with them. But in an AU where Lucrecia raises Sephiroth since birth in a normal, happy family setting with Vincent as Sephiroth's adoptive father then I think if Sephiroth ever learned that he was an experiment then maybe he'd be more willing to forgive her.

Aerith: That Aerith isn't this completely pure and innocent lady as some FFVII fans make her out to be and I mostly blame Advent Children's and Crisis Core's portrayal of her for this opinion. In the original, FFVII Aerith was streetsmart and could be mischievous at times. I'm aware in CC she was younger but she was still living in the slums where it was rife with crime even though she had the protection of the Turks close by.

Lucrecia: That Lucrecia isn't a mega heartless bitch that her haters make her out to be. Sure she chose Hojo over Vincent, treated Vincent coldly and agreed to have her unborn baby experimented on with supposed 'Cetra cells'. I don't condone her actions but it was clear that she loved Vincent and her coldness towards him was her way of protecting him. As for The Jenova Project, it's never stated in canon why Lucrecia agreed to it. Perhaps she initially believed that if she birthed a child with powers of the Cetra that someday her child would lead the Shinra to The Promised Land and bring happiness to the world or maybe because Lucrecia was ridiculed by other Shinra people for her thesis on Chaos and Omega that she wanted to be a part of a project that would gain her positive recognition and respect. It's also very possible that Hojo had a role in convincing Lucrecia to agree to the experiment. Regardless, Lucrecia felt immense guilt for her actions, unlike Hojo.

Jenova: I want to believe that Jenova isn't just a mindless alien virus but a character with a mind of her own capable of intelligent thought and has a personality.

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon

Sephiroth: I have a morbid wish that there could have been an alternate ending if you lose to Sephiroth in the original FFVII that shows him achieving his goal of becoming a god. But who knows? Maybe we'll get to have an ending like that in the last part of the FFVII Remake.

Aerith: I wish Aerith never had to die and have a happily ever after with Cloud.

Lucrecia: I understand that Lucrecia has regrets and can never forgive herself for agreeing to have Sephiroth experimented on when he was in utero but I just wish she would have left her cave after the end of FFVII/Dirge of Cerberus and find some happiness and love with Vincent.

Jenova: I wish Square Soft/Enix could've given Jenova proper screentime interacting with Sephiroth that wasn't limited to floating in a tank, taking on her son's appearance and boss battles.
