Hello Everyone, or whoever is left of the IZ/Zadr community! How have yall been??? Doing Good I hope!
It's been years since I last posted on this blog and wow, what a time. Life can really pull you away from your passions can't it? QwQ
If you don't mind a lil rant of sorts, I'd like to start off by saying that I v much still have a strong connection towards this blog to this very day! It's been my most precious project, I enjoy the characterizations and the story so much, I can confidently say I've never accomplished anything quite this impressive, considering it's fan-made~
That being said, there was one glaring obstacle in my way in terms of continuing the blog, and the horrible irony of it being; the art, which is what inspired the blog in the first place.
And it is still the primary reason I struggle to continue, that and I mean, isk how active the community is these days and that's a v important factor for askbloging, interaction!
In all honesty, I want to continue this account, I have for a while! However, I have very little time/energy to draw, but ik I will want to (here and there) if I were to reboot the blog. I have made attempts to make this an RP askblog with some art, and I believe that could still work, although not as exciting, it still allows me to continue being silly with the boys and you guys~
This is something I sincerely miss, IZ will forever be my favorite cartoon until the day I die, and ZaDR/ZaFR is just so special to me compared to other ships I've pursued!
After a good week of like deliberation, I might reboot the blog as an RP askblog and draw when I feel inspired to. They will be sketches at best, and they may be sketches of replies that I particularly wanna see drawn, or I might actually draw a reply as I see fit~
The reboot would also depend on how much interest this post receives as well, it's difficult putting effort into something with v little interest in return but since it's been YEARS, I will wait it out for a bit and decide if it's doable~♡
Again, I personally would love to reboot this blog and I would love to know if anyone else would like to see it run again~ I hope you all are having a good day and I'll update my decision in due time my friends💕

not to be cringe but do you have any advice for running a character ask blog? Aiming for something kinda lowkey like with Bean (also I love bean. I love to see what she’s up to)
not sure how helpful some of these will be since they're just what i do for my personal projects but for sure!!!
uuuuhhh basic overview stuff
if you're doing an oc blog, chances are it probably won't receive as much attention as a canon character/story blog. just sort of the way things go! if you want to draw some attention, you might want to think about non-ask related stuff you can post (clangen blogs do this with the mini event posts, keeps the world moving!)
even with canon character blogs, giving pieces of character lore, worldbuilding, mini stories can help keep the world more alive. but that's when you got time and if it seems fun, you should just do things if you want to tbh
i keep all my stuff in a doc and add and edit whenever i put new info on the blog to keep things consistent. i just put them in little sections to help me find things (beanie lore, worldbuilding, spirits, etc.) but simple bullet points are easy.
if you're doing an original character and world, i would highly recommend giving your readers some worldbuilding and lore to help them invest themselves. people don't know the boundaries of things and while you can have them ask, a little nudge definitely helps.
for a canon blog, i'd pick a specific time period. it'll save you grief if you know who's alive and who isn't, as well as the grief that comes with trying to figure out what you want to change (if you want to change things that is. i like fucking with canon but it really is up to you and the story you want to tell).
you can improvise it as you go, but i do recommend jotting them down somewhere after the fact so you can keep things consistent. up to you though, i just have a piss poor memory lol
figure out if you want to try and do an overarching story, mini stories, or no stories. you don't have to decide right away and you can even decide after you start the blog and get a vibe of what people are interested in, but sometimes it is good to jot them down if they come to you right away.
you're supposed to have fun if you're not having fun don't do it, take a break from the blog or steer it in the direction you want. no one is paying you (i think) so everything you do you should do because you enjoy doing it.
art for an ask blog (if ur doing art if not skip this)
your main character should be easy to recreate on model and most importantly: fun to draw!!! overly complicated character designs are fun in the beginning but after five or more you're going to start to hate them.
i'd also recommend against doing too many tiny "floating" bits, keeping things attached to a body part or in proximity to a space easy to recreate them will save you grief. i learned this the hard way after i kept forgetting all those damn tiny scars i put on my fallen stars!firestar design. in comparison, beanie's design for the blog has a few scars but the placement makes it so they're easy to recreate and draw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(how i style my reference sheets. do not be me. do not fall into hubris and add so many damn floaty scars to a character that is the main damn character of your goddamn big ass au blog. fucking icarus move lol)
if you introduce a new character, make an easy quick ref sheet for yourself. it'll save you grief and keep things consistent.
i'd also figure out if you want to do colors or no colors. no coloring means you have more time to put effort into sketches and can just move faster if you're looking for something breezy and easy. but colors look good, they make it easier to tell cats apart and are just much nicer on the eyes. if you also have a bigger cast in mind, you can rely on colors a little more than body shapes to make sure everyone can be told apart
i color my sketch lines different colors for different characters on the beanie blog but there are plenty of other ways to make sure characters are told apart! @/askcinders does distinct shapes and different base colors for different characters and lines distinct markings so you can tell whose who.
backgrounds are...difficult. i'd recommend simplicity over complexity and save big backgrounds for "big moments", but it's up to you if you like them! i would just say go simple since the focus of these blogs are the characters.
theeeeennn speech bubbles or no speech bubbles. i like doing doing speech bubbles within the text because it gives me more control of the order the reader will read the dialogue, how they read it, the emotions i can elicit from it, and more fun with how i can place the dialogue. buuuuuut that does mean spacing them, and spacing dialogue bubbles can be a pain since it takes up room if you forget to sketch their placement in the original sketch (which i do. a lot).
so the other option is art and then dialogue underneath directly in the post. this saves you room, makes art probably a lot easier, and circumvents the issue of difficult to read speech bubbles! i do both but it's up to you, both methods are tried and true.
aaannnndd that's all that comes to mind? really it's just about having fun. as you work at it, chances are you'll probably figure out your own individual work style. best of luck (and i'm very excited to see what you come up with)!!!!!!!

maybe it's about time I made a post to describe my blog idk i saw others do it
I'll update this as time passes :D for now this post shall exist and you will see it every time you make the decision of clicking on my blog. I think it's meant to make navigating here easier?
giant text wall incoming...
Oook! To start off, some facts about me here!
You can call me Kat, or any variations of my user will do!
I am Singaporean, can speak both English and Chinese fluently (doubt about Chinese though). Also a minor, so take note of that please! I don't mind interacting with people who aren't but if people have a problem with that I'd understand and stop bothering you.
You can use my art, as long as you credit me properly! My ask box is open, as are my dms, so feel free to drop me a message if you don't feel like sending a question where I'll reply and post publicly (actually please do message me please I'm lonely I want to talk pleas-)
Even though this blog is mainly The Glass Scientists, I'm in several other fandoms although I'm massively inactive and contribute nothing to them. Examples include Good Omens, Nevermore (webtoon), Legend of Hei, The Owl House, Amphibia, just usual fantasy adventure stuff mostly.
Enough about me I believe, since you already can tell I love to talk, now here are tags I use!
#my art : for all the art I post, from my digital art I put in time and effort on to silly doodles I drew to stop myself from falling asleep in class
#my shitposts : stuff I post for funsies, usually memes or tired 2am thoughts inspired from my chaos group chat
#kkat's monday rants : for whatever reason, you want to find my rambling and breakdown on each new TGS page. Here they are!
and naturally, anything TGS would go under #the glass scientists, where it forms most of my blog. Do take note this includes reblogs!
#tgs as vines : exactly what it says on the tin. edited by my friend, drawn by me. inspired by Overly Sarcastic Productions' vine series
#the crow house au : simply put, I made a TGS crossover with The Owl House. mostly sketches as I have no solid plot with this au yet, but that might change in the future 👀
#kayatoastdtiys : for my 100 followers DTIYS and its submissions!
#nevermore webtoon : all my fanart for the webtoon Nevermore by Kit Trace and Kate Flynn!
there is #real life stuff . rants and stuff that happened irl go here
Hope you can have fun on my blog! I know I look really gloomy but trust me I am capable of happiness please-

Heya, same anon who asked you for art advice! First, I wanted to thank you for answer my questions and listing all that wonderful advice! I just have some followups. It’s really okay to just draw without even knowing how to put down a line? Won’t that just lead to bad habits or not learning the right techniques? And you mentioned learning how to draw the human body, will the sites you listed help, or are there other resources I should look up (like maybe on Pinterest?). Again, thanks!
Tumblr media
Combining your asks into one. Thank you for the kind words! I'll be happy to continue helping where I can :)
So in terms of bad habits and practices, this is where my advice will fall flat haha because I myself don't know what's a good practice actually - I just do what I want to do even if its the worst way to do something anyone's ever seen! For example, my way of doing 'lineart' (just cleaning up my sketches) is to draw big fat lines and then slowly carve it with an eraser into a line I deem good enough. Someone who could grab a pen and draw a perfect line on the fly would probably be like wtf watching me meticulously erase my one fat line lol
But!
If you really don't know how to put down a line at all yet, your best bet really is to just start. There's not really a trick or technique too it, its just practice. I think unless you were trying to go into art school or something and needed to work on a portfolio (btw again I am not the person to ask for that), there's not really a 'bad habit,' its just as long as you're having fun. In my earlier example about my 'lineart' I pretty much know I'm doing it in such a dumb way, but I actually find it really fun to carve away my line with an eraser haha. Yea I could put in the effort to actually learn how to do things properly, but I like wasting hours just nitpicking on this little thing just because its fun to me. (I do the same thing for coloring also. I'll scribble my entire screen and then use an eraser to start carving things out lmao)
Of course while you're drawing and you're doing something that makes you think "hey this actually sucks actually-" that's when you take the opportunity to grow and learn something new that you didn't know before. This is a digital art thing: but for the longest time I literally didn't know anything about layers and my thoughts were just "man there's got to be a better way to do this" which throws me into a rabbit hole of searching "how do I do This Thing"
If you're really into learning art techniques though it might be good to slowly go over all of the 'art fundamentals' especially when it comes to like shading and perspective. I looked at this blog post and it looks like it would help start you out with some links to other resources: link then of course you can look up the corresponding Youtube videos to see someone actually do the fundamental for real. I'd also honestly recommend like a beginners artist course in person if that's something affordable and accessible to you. It's been one of my dreams to go to like random art classes for fun haha but alas life happens so its just me and my tablet until I'm rich as hell I guess. I've never taken a digital course either, but if that's one of the ways you're able to learn that's great too and I'd recommend it!
Next on human body:
Sorry I should have talked about them more in depth at the time, but yes they will help but only if you're determined to use them correctly! So the sites I listed basically show a pose for 30 seconds, and the idea is you're supposed to just try to take in the shape/form of the pose and draw it without nitpicking over minor details. You can also set the timer higher if you need (I used to set it to at least 60 seconds just because I was just a slow ass artist). But basically it should help you break down the human body into simple shapes and lines.
Now what I mean by using the sites correctly: So there's two ways to approach drawing from references:
1. "eye tracing" which is where your eyes are kind of just following the outline of whatever you're drawing but you're not really processing what exactly you're doing to help you later down the line. I have a bad habit of doing this and I tend to struggle later again for the same pose.
2. Breaking down the reference into small chunks and shapes, and then morphing those shapes into your piece. And later down the line you should start to be able to think of things like "oh the Circle piece of the body normally goes Here!"
Here's a random google image I found to help illustrate what I'm kind of talking about:
Tumblr media
So eye tracing would kind of be like a less refined version of #3. Just a blobby but like you can somewhat tell what it is and that's cool I guess, but its not very helpful for when you want to try drawing a variant of the pose above. Breaking down the reference is like steps #1 and #2, simple shapes and blocks that help guide and outline the final shape you want. #1 in particular is very easy to change around should you want to.
So while you're on the sites I linked, you should try to break down each pose into its shape instead of drawing exactly what you see. You should also keep in mind the 'line of action' while doing so:
Tumblr media
It's definitely a lot to take in all at once, so I'd honestly recommend just loading up the site and doing your best to replicate the pose, 'eye tracing' or not. Once you get more used to the routine and flow, then try to branch into learning more appropriate techniques. I've seen around that some people also recommend removing the time limit on the poses, as some people learn better by taking their time on one thing and breaking things down even further from there, but that's definitely up to you. You could also go out and try drawing random people if that helps and if you're bold!
My experience with Pinterest has mostly been for inspiration or cool things I've never thought of before, though I'm sure others are able to use it better than I can haha. I'm sure there are step by step guides to help you out around there!
I think resources to learn how to draw better really do come down to what kind of learner you are in the first place. Lots of people learn really well from Youtube tutorials for example, or maybe reading and following along with a book about anatomy would work for you too. I have like the most god awful attention span ever, so what works for me is just raw trial and error and hoping for the best. tbh idk how I even got this far haha but i am happy that I've progressed at all
Let me know if you have more questions and I'll definitely do my best to answer them! If you're looking for more advice regarding traditional art learning fundamentals, I'm sure there are many other artists that would be happy to answer your questions as well!
Best of luck! :)

structured hobby plans for my ideal self!!!! capable and strong and passionate!!!!!!!!!
don't mind me this is personal diary stuff, which i'm writing up and posting mostly to compare and contrast for at a later date. unlikely to be relevant to anyone else, but one thing about me is that i be blogging.
table of contents: cello, CECs, cooking, crochet, drawing, exercise, korean, neocities, savings, spanish, writing
cello
increasingly high motivation
low effort, so far
plan: i sort of executed already but i've adjusted my month over month goal to increase faster - from a rate of 1.05 to 1.5 - capping out at 28 hs/month
i'm also trying a couple of new things to reduce friction, and one thing that will hopefully kill two birds with one stone. (moved cello from desk to bedside, trying practice in morning before work to avoid Dreadful Morning Small Talk AND to mentally wake up a bit earlier)
continuing education credits
incredibly unmotivated but i do have to keep my stupid certification!
no progress at all not even a little bit!!!!
plan: block off time at work to get thru credit hours. i evidently will not do anything in my free time even related to work.
cooking
high motivation for comfortable dishes, low motivation for new dishes
no new recipes or techniques attempted within last couple of months
plan: try out bookmarked madhur jaffrey recipe within the month, and consider other simple prep dishes (bread? soup?? roasted chicken???)
longer-term plan: find out some measurable yardsticks for progress. cooking school syllabi?
crochet
dwindling motivation, but i want to clear out two projects so i stop thinking about them.
no current progress
plan: separate all of my stuff from my friend's (we were doing a tandem project but she's significantly less motivated than i am tbh), and look it over this weekend.
drawing
high conceptual motivation but no real momentum
absolutely no progress
plan: (a) hunt down and confirm materials, (b) write notes on exercises so i'm not going on the computer (getting distracted), (c) do some light brainstorming on future projects (incentivization!)
exercise
not unmotivated. need a less sedentary life for future health.
incredible progress!!! three exercise classes a week no excuses!!!
plan: six months of frequent exercise classes, and then reevaluating based on some target metrics. (eom september 2024)
korean
medium-ish motivation. i love this one kids show, and am excited to eventually move to audio-only content.
beginner CI is purgatory
plan: trying to find other easy easy kids shows, repetitive cooking shows, shopping channels, etc. just researching potential CI resources in my free time.
neocities
low motivation, sort of! this feels very future problem for future self because i don't have a lot of ideas of what i'd like to put on the site.
occasional brainstorming
plan: ties in with drawing plans above - sketch out a few ideas & work on text draft when in the mood. no deadline.
savings
ambivalent: i want to have savings but i also need to buy groceries, and want to go on a vacation?
progress is good!!
plan: automated savings goal to one account, and will try my best to stay in the green on the other.
spanish
maximum motivation, doesn't get higher than this
very high time investment comp to literally everything else
plan: i saw a comment saying that a dreaming spanish learner read thru all of juan fernández's and olly richards' graded readers and was able to jump straight into young adult fiction. i'm not necessarily planning to read YA, but i just bought the readers!
writing
medium-ish motivation, but i think i might wait until i can use it as language practice?? is that insane?? am i just making excuses because i find it so difficult to get going???
no current progress
plan: outline or draft current project short story within the next few weeks. (eom may for specificity.)

Starting new, again...
Way back in 2019, I started working on a new project I had no experience with, but I had a pretty clear idea of what the end result should be. For years I've always wanted a fursuit, but actually commissioning a maker to custom build you a suit is eye-wateringly expensive. I've seen may others making their own peices, and reading over many posts on Matrices' blog I thought, why don't I make one myself too? I've taken on many other projects in the past from woodworking to coffee roasting, and I knew that with a little investment in materials and a lot of investment in time, I could maybe create something half-decent. Perhaps not nearly a work of art as something from Fursuits by Lacy, or The Phoenix Nest, but at least I'd be proud of my own efforts and I'd gain some new skills along the way. But why of all things, a fursuit? Well, why the hell not? To quote Marge Simpson, I just think they're neat. But also as someone who has never really felt comfortable in his own skin, the idea of putting on this costume and becoming something entirely new with whole different personality is very appealing. I don't have a therapist to diagnose what that means, all I know is it feels right to me. Plus, as my wife will attest - if I don't actively have a project or something to work on I will drive myself insane. I need to make things.
And so, Otto was born. Now I'm not going to disparage Otto in any way - I created him and he's really special to me. The only real flashy part of him is his shock of bright blue hair and stripe running down to his tail. The rest of his design are more of a function of learning how to pattern, sew, and turn a 2-dimensional medium into a 3-dimensional form. There are obviously some things I would have done differently, while other things turned out great - I will wear Otto's feet around the house on chilly mornings simply because they are just so damn comfy and warm. But now three years later, Otto is complete - head, body, paws, tail, and feet… and, well, I still need to make, to create. I can take the knowledge and experience from making Otto forward and make something new again.
And so, I'm about to start making Ollie. I have a basic sketch and some good ideas, but some things are still to be worked out. While working on Otto, I was really bad at documenting my progress. I would have really liked to look back at steps along the way, if not to share with others then at least to remember certain details better. If I'm going to start this new project, then I want to also document it better this time. I'm going to try and share photos and details as Ollie begins to take shape, and hopefully he won't take 3 years this time around!
Tumblr media
Otto, in all his glory
Tumblr media
SO. COMFY.
Tumblr media
Is this what Ollie might look like? Only time will tell.

Hoo boy it's been a while since I've been on here but I would like to clarify some usage rules since I've had some questions and misunderstandings in the past
Tumblr media
First off I see my palettes on this blog as sort of fabric remenants I have leftover from previous projects in the mess that is my ADHD brain. I don't have the mental capacity to find a use for every single one of these little idea fragments so I share them here for others who need a little inspiration or a jumpstart on a overwhelming project
The Procreate palettes I sell are tailor made to fit a mood and require a bit more effort to put together (ie theme creation, inspiration hunting, swatching, copying values over so they are accessible to people who don't use procreate etc) which is why I sell them for a small fee rather than giving them away for free.
You can use the color combinations in personal and commercial works without credit I do not claim to own them and I never will claim to own anything other than the graphics I made in Procreate for the majority of this blogs life span (I made some palettes in various apps when I first started but now all my graphics are hand drawn in Procreate)
I do require credit for using my graphics in things like moodboards and the like
I would prefer if you created your own graphics if you plan on using them to create adoptables/oc auctions. It's not a big deal or whatever but I'd just like to you be more creative and do your own graphics rather than just copy and paste mine
Artwork using my palettes doesn't need credit I just like seeing what other people do with my idea scraps so a @ is always appreciated and I will generally try to reblog it if it isn't explicit or is inappropriate for the inclusive environment of this blog
Thanks for understanding and I hope to see more of your creative projects in the future!!!
Tumblr media
I also post more frequently on my main blog @selestial-princess and my art blog @selestial-sketch so if you want more of whatever the heck is going on in my silly little brain you can follow me there

Dear mod,
I'm sorry things have been rough for you lately. I'm really glad that you took a break. Your well being matters. It's whatever version of art you prefer to do. I know you must be very busy so I think doing both sketches or full color art for your asks is perfectly fine. You're a really good artist, and I can only imagine the time and effort you put into your work. I love Fosters! It was a show I grew up with, and it brings me so much joy! Wilt was always one of my favorite characters so it makes me really happy that you have this ask blog. I know you must be working so Just take it easy. There's absolutely no rush.
((Awwwhhh, this is such a sweet message, thank you! 💖 It makes me feel good hearing this, that my well being matters and that you're glad I took a break.
I was honestly feeling so anxious about taking a break from this blog but I knew it was something I needed to do for my well-being. Part of the break asides from life responsibilities was just that I was plain burnt out. I love drawing for asks but at some point, it started feeling a bit too tedious and I wanted to take a break. That way when I'd come back, I'd be more in the spirit again.
I love Foster's too!! It's a very special show to me and one I find myself coming back to time and time again. Wilt is also a favorite character of mine (hence the making of this blog haha) and one that is very special to me since it kinda feels like I've grown up with him (sorry if that sounds odd or sappy). I remember when the show first came out, I think I was around 5 maybe, can't remember exactly but I was quite little and I remember drawing him even back then (don't think I have those old drawings of him anymore though). He's honestly one of the characters I think I've drawn the most in my life and I used to have so much difficulty drawing him, I'd get frustrated. Now it feels like I can draw him almost no problem ha!
And yeah, I've been thinking of doing both full color and sketches but I think I'm leaning more towards only doing sketches from this point forward. There's a lot of asks in the inbox and I feel guilty the longer they sit there. I might do colored pieces again though, who knows!
Anyways, thanks again for this sweet message. I apologize for rambling, I just had a lot more I wanted to say than usual, and I hope that's okay 💕))

aaaa hello, i recently found your blog and fell in love w aa again bc of your retro brushes! if it's alright to ask, what are the other brushes you've used like for your lineless art? the subtle textures and edges are so sweet and i'd love to experiment ^^
Ooh hi !! It's totally fine to ask about my other brushes :D I'm putting this under read more because of how long it got though lmao
Thank you for liking my retro brushes! The ones I uploaded aren't actually all the ones I used in that piece. They're actually missing the textured brush I used to recreate the ink texture that riso printing has. I also had to make these brushes myself, but since I used a texture pack that's been uploaded to csp assets (This one, I used the one called solid-uneven tones, which is actually really good on its own!), I wasn't allowed to upload them without violating the rules on the csp site, but you can get it from my google drive here! I could have just used one brush for all four colors considering there's no halftones, but observe:
Tumblr media
On your left, the irregularity you're going for would've been the same on all layers, which creates a lot of blank white spots that might be pleasing for some, but it wasn't what I was going for... plus if you move the layers around it sort of creates a 3d effect that might be cool but also ends up being a bit distracting, so I just duplicated the brushes and set the texture rotation to different angles ^^ In the end it's really up to the look you're going for, though. So feel free to experiment!
I also used this vertical line brush that's super fun to play with. You can see how that looks alone in here (I changed the texture's scale ratio, the actual brush has thicker lines and a wider gap between them):
Tumblr media
As for most of my lineless art, I actually only use four brushes!
Tumblr media
This, for example, was sketched with a modified colored pencil brush that comes default with csp 1.10.9 which you can find here, since it's gone by the version 10.10 update
if you want the exact modifications I did, (since the default brush comes out super light no matter how hard you press) just go into brush tip > brush density > brush density dynamics and change the settings to these! Or however you see fit. The brush engines in csp are surprisingly easy to get the hang of once you've been doing it for a while
Tumblr media
I color with two to three brushes! depending on if i want to put in the extra effort or nah
Tumblr media
The main brush i use is the flatman soft from @/frenden's megapack which you can find in this post ! It costs maybe 15 bucks? But I believe it's worth it! It might actually be the only brushpack I'm willing to spend some cash on. You get access to so many brushes + any future updates (aka more brushes) so it's a pretty good deal hihi
For softer edges (like blushes, and the fur on this girl's hoodie wahoo) I use either the colored pencil brush from above or the flatman hard from the aforementioned megapack, depending on the kind of "soft edge" I'm going for. colored pencil brush is for anything fuzzy and the flatman hard is good for blending two colors together!
Tumblr media
Last brush is the SU-Cream pencil! You can get it over here. I mostly use this for details, like adding lines and drawing the eyes, nose, mouth... the larger it gets the fuzzier it is, too! So you can just as well use it for soft edges if you don't dig the former two brushes
For adding texture to things, I just use this noise texture and the paper texture from this material catalogue ^^ I don't use them much, but I tend to combine the two, and it ends up looking like this, which I think is p neat:
Tumblr media
Lastly, did you know you can import abr files to csp? and that adobe gives photoshop subscribers free access to a ton of brushes? and that I don't believe in the inherent elitism and capitalism and anti-ownership mindset that adobe's subscription service model perpetuates?
Anyway, unrelated, but here's a google drive of all the brushes offered by an unnamed over-charging company that I hate that you may or may not be able to use in programs like krita, csp, and procreate
Have fun!!! I'm sorry this is really long I just like handing out brush recs :3

congratulations on the followers!! this blog is one of my favorites. I'd love to get a sketch of minkowski and lovelace hanging out, or headcanons on what their relationship is like back on earth.
Thank you so much Anon! I'm honoured that this is one of your favourite blogs. I will try to do the sketch at some point as well, but for now, here's some headcanons about Minkowski and Lovelace back on Earth (I really loved this prompt btw!):
In my headcanons, once they are back on Earth, Lovelace spends a lot of her time travelling, heading all over the place both for leisure and as part of her vendetta against Goddard. In contrast, I think Minkowski ends up more settled in one place, trying to live a normal life and to look after Eiffel and Hera.
But they keep in touch constantly. Minkowski writes long detailed emails. Lovelace sends rambling voice notes at all hours of the day and night. Minkowski makes regular 'checking-in' phone calls. Lovelace sends jokey postcards from unexpected exotic locations.
And Lovelace always comes back to Minkowski, turning up on her doorstep unexpectedly. Minkowski always has a bed made up for her.
Minkowski grounds Lovelace. Lovelace helps Minkowski loosen up.
Especially with Eiffel having lost his memories, they are each the person who most understands what the other has been through. They both feel responsible for the death and pain that happened on their respective missions. They both know how heavy the responsibility of command can be. They don't need to explain themselves to each other.
The similarities between their experiences actually helps them each deal with their guilt. When Minkowski's feeling terrible about shooting Maxwell and sending Hilbert to his death and not saving Eiffel from losing his memories, Lovelace says "Look at me. Five people died on my watch. Do you think I'm irredeemable? Do you think I don't deserve to be happy?"
"Of course not," Minkowski says.
"Then don't you dare think those things about yourself," Lovelace orders her.
Minkowski memorises the birthdays and death dates of Lovelace's previous crew and puts particular effort into looking out for Lovelace on those anniversaries.
They both spend a lot of time trying to get the other to take care of themselves. They've had more than one shouting match that has boiled down to each telling the other to go to therapy and get more sleep.
Lovelace tries to persuade Minkowski to do something for herself rather than entirely dedicating herself to her crew. Minkowski tries to persuade Lovelace not to destroy herself with revenge attempts on Goddard. They are both partially successful.

Hey!! I love your art so much, and it's a nice inspiration for my own art!! I wanted to ask how you got your online presence?? I want to make my own art blog, but I'm not sure how? Or really, how to get the art noticed more. I thought I'd ask since I love your stuff so much! 💚💚💚
Thank you so much!  OKAY! I’m gonna throw a few vague bullet points that I’ve found helpful here and then I shall attempt a VERY brief summary in more detail below the cut. -Memorable username. You want people to be able to find you without your name always being right in front of them. This is optional but helpful. -Post a lot. I gain my most steady stream of followers when I’m posting random sketches but I’m posting them frequently versus posting a few nice pieces sporadically. -Get involved in communities. Use tags. MMOs, D&D, fandoms, whatever you love that other people love! Using the tags to get your art of the things you love out to other people who love it? A+ -Participate in challenges! Inktober! Sketch Dailies! Mermay! Whatever tf monster smut I did in March. A SERIES that gets you posting consistently for a bit that people can follow and look forward to! (Also helpful with tags!) -Giveaways. I love doing giveaways. I love sending people things and people love getting things for free. They’re a great way to promote reblogs over likes and get your work out to more eyes. Plus, like I said, I love sending people stuff?? So it’s a weirdly symbiotic relationship! Those would be my main tips but if you want more of a breakdown, I’ve done a bit of a write-up below for my sordid, dark artist backstory.
NOTE: FOR WHATEVER REASON TUMBLR DOES NOT SEEM TO BE REGISTERING MY “READ BELOW THE CUT” SO JUST PRETEND LIKE THERE IS ONE HERE AND FORGIVE THE ETERNALLY LONG POST
I started my art tumblr back in...2011??? I think? 2012 maybe? To have a place to post some art projects I was doing back for my 2D animation class (I believe all evidence has been eradicated so don’t bother looking lol!) My username was “CatbatCD” at the time. CD stood for “Character Design” because that was the class I was taking. I ended up cultivating a few followers. <100 I think? And I got the very occasional commission. After college, most of what I posted was TTRPG stuff. This was before D&D 5e got REALLY big, so I was posting a LOT of D&D  and Dark Heresy doodles and most people did not care that much. (For those of you who were watching me back when I drew a lot of Eden and Dark Heresy stuff, you the real MVPs.) At this point I had around 400-500 followers would be my guess!
But I started accumulating more once I started playing MMOs and doodling stuff with those games as a tag! No joke, when I started playing Wildstar (RIP) and started posting work, it generated a lot of engagement from people and I definitely started accumulating more followers (more mutuals, specifically!) It was the perfect combo of original content and pre-established universe that people were familiar with! It was also when I started being more serious about taking commissions.
Now this is the point where my Pro Strat doesn’t exactly get repeatable. Halloween of 2015. I had been following along with the Sketch Dailies prompts on twitter (I don’t even know if they’re active anymore.) And right around Halloween the prompt was “Pumpkin King.” I did a little 20 minute doodle of Jack Skellington and threw it on my tumblr and didn’t think of it.
Well, guess what fuckin 20 minute doodle got featured on the tumblr radar?
In one night, I randomly gained 500 followers. It was BONKERS. ESPECIALLY since it was a piece I put next to no effort in. I still have mixed feelings about that, but I have about 1000 followers and at this point it’s been about 3-4 years. Now this is where it kinda gets down to a more tedious grind. After this point, I don’t have any follower-gaining miracles except do lots of art! Take commissions! Post commissions! Do art challenges!  In your specific circumstance, you have to just start your blog. You can’t start it thinking “I’m gonna get 1000 followers in the first year.” You simply CAN’T approach it like that. Cultivating followers for an art blog takes a lot of time. And honestly for me, I didn’t really approach it with followers in mind when I first made my blog. It was literally just somewhere I was slapping art projects up for my prof to view remotely.  You just got to go with it. Make your blog, post art you make, be kind, find communities you love, and you will develop a community of your own. <3 I hope that was even a tiny bit helpful, or at the very least somewhat insightful.
