Solavellan Playlist + Song Explanation

So this is mostly a lil compilation thing for me that I’ve wanted to do but I figured some folks might find it interesting! This will probably be quite a long post so after the first couple songs I will put it under a read-more. I’m also making two parts since this is A Lot and I don’t want to post walls of text lol.

To start, here is the playlist I’ve put together :) Tis Spotify. I’ll preface with the fact that this entire playlist is an attempt to chronologically catalog the Solavellan relationship, and I especially think of the songs from the Inquisitor’s perspective as being from my own Inky’s POV.

1. Lost Elf Theme – Trevor Morris

Though this song plays at the end of Trespasser - and even plays after the Dark Solas Theme - I feel like this song encompasses both the beginning and end of Solas’ journey in Inquisition/Trespasser. He awakes in an entirely new world, centuries apart from everything and everyone he knew. He is, quite literally, a lost elf. Beyond that, the song seems to have some small motifs from the Thedas Love Theme, which is especially heartbreaking as a Lavellan romancing Solas.

2. Six – Sleeping At Last

These invisible walls

Just might keep us safe

These were the lines that drew me to this song first as a Solas POV song. He is very clearly a man on a mission from the get-go, still so torn up inside over what has been done to his people by the Evanuris as well as himself – but knowing that he needs to push forward and bottle all of that up if he is to succeed in righting the wrong he caused with the Orb.

3. Viva la Vida – Coldplay

I used to rule the world

Seas would rise when I gave the word

Now in the morning, I sleep alone

Sweep the streets I used to own

…

One minute, I held the key

Next, the walls were closed on me

And I discovered that my castles stand

Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

So I know Solas/Fen’Harel was never technically a king, nor even really a god (as far as he has told us, that is). But these lines as well as the general vibe of this song just fit him so well - he never wanted to be “king”, never wanted to have to close off the Fade, or lie to those in the Inquisition. But he felt he must.

4. I’m With You – Avril Lavigne

Isn't anyone tryin' to find me?

Won't somebody come take me home?

It's a damn cold night

Trying to figure out this life

Won't you take me by the hand?

Take me somewhere new

I don't know who you are

But I, I'm with you

I'm with you

Ilaera is thrust into the Inquisition suddenly after the events at the Conclave. She had expected to discover information for her clan, and return home to hopefully be made First. But the anchor and Corypheus derailed her life entirely. Her one comfort in the whirlwind of the early days of the Inquisition was Solas. A fellow mage and elf, she would stand outside his small hut at Haven for hours listening to his stories and musings, when he would let her. I think this song is a good representation of her growing attachment to him, when she was first falling for him.

5. Heart’s A Mess – Gotye

Let me in

As you do mine

It makes no sense

But I'm desperate to connect

And you, you can't live like this

I envision this song as Ilaera pleading with Solas quietly to just let her in. Especially after the move to Skyhold and their subsequent meeting/kiss in the Fade, he still continues to hold her at arms length, acting friendlier with her than the others perhaps, but not allowing himself to get any closer. At the time, of course, Ilaera doesn’t know why he’s acting that way, so it’s hard not to feel just a little hurt by his ignoring of the moment they had shared.

6. Drumming Song – Florence + The Machine

There's a drumming noise inside my head

That starts when you're around

I swear that you could hear it

It makes such an almighty sound

As I move my feet towards your body

I can hear this beat, it fills my head up

And gets louder and louder

It fills my head up and gets louder and louder

At this point, just before Solas and the Inquisitor embark on his mission to rescue his spirit friend, she is consumed by her feelings for him, especially now that they seem to be either unrequited or that Solas is unwilling to act upon them. Every mission in the field, every late night at Skyhold, even her dreams are filled with thoughts of him. She puts on a calm exterior now that she has been appointed Inquisitor, but on the inside she’s burning for him, and I think this song reflects that perfectly.

7. Who Knows – Avril Lavigne

How do you always have an opinion?

And how do you always find

The best way to compromise?

We don't need to have a reason

We don't need anything

We're just wasting time

I think there's something more

Who are you?

Solas has returned from his time spent mourning, and has told Ilaera that he could hardly abandon her now - that she had been a true friend in doing what she could to help the spirit. He seems changed, however - softer, more open. This song reflects the hope that occurs just before their trist on the balcony - I feel like the Inquisitor can sense his resolve about their relationship here. But she also wants him to stop wasting time deliberating, and to figure himself out before continuing anything.

8. Two – Sleeping At Last

Sweetheart, you look a little tired

When did you last eat?

Come in and make yourself right at home

Stay as long as you need

Tell me, is something wrong?

If something's wrong, you can count on me

You know I'll take my heart clean apart if it helps yours beat

I don't even know where to start

Already tired of trying to recall when it all fell apart

I just want to learn how, somehow, to be loved myself

This song can be from either perspective, though I enjoy thinking of it as a Solas song for the most part. For a brief time he is fully committed to Ilaera, thinking that perhaps he can find a way to live in this world and accept it the way it is, Veil intact. He would likely be especially doting during this time, trying to take care of his vhenan, but not quite knowing how to let her do the same in return.

9. arms – Christina Perri

I never thought that You would be the one to hold my heart

But you came around

And you knocked me off the ground from the start

You put your arms around me

And I believe that it's easier for you to let me go

You put your arms around me and I'm home

This song is an interesting one. Half of it can be from Lavellan’s perspective, as in the stanza above (also… the first three lines are also from MY perspective, lol. I did NOT expect Solas to be who I liked most from the Inquisition romance options). But later in the song you can view it from Solas’ perspective, since it goes on to lament not being able to open up so easily - especially with the line I’ll never let a love get so close.

10. Cosmic Love – Florence + The Machine

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map

And knew that somehow I could find my way back

Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too

So I stayed in the darkness with you

At this point in the playlist I just started adding a couple love songs without complete direction, though I think this stanza is fitting for Solavellan. I like to think that they had at least a few months of happiness before the scene at Crestwood…

11. Good Enough – Evanescence

Under your spell again

I can't say no to you

Crave my heart and it's bleeding in your hand

I can't say no to you

Shouldn't let you torture me so sweetly

Now I can't let go of this dream

I can't breathe but I feel

Good enough

Above everything else, Solas has always been someone Ilaera admired, even looked up to in terms of magical knowledge and practice. And with his hesitancy after their kiss in the Fade, it’s not hard to see why she would feel a bit “less than” in their relationship once it began in earnest. I think at this point in their journey, though, she would finally feel good enough - to consider herself his equal, if not in strength or power or knowledge than emotionally. And she can only dream that he feels the same.

12. Thedas Love Theme – Trevor Morris

This marks the halfway point on the playlist as well as their relationship - though I’m putting it as the signifier for the Crestwood scene. It may be the last scene we get of them in the main game (until after Corypheus is defeated, though that’s not exclusively a romance scene), but due to Trespasser, it’s only half of their story. That scene is also the first time the Inquisitor is able to tell Solas she loves him - albeit in a desperate attempt to get him to change his mind and stay with her. I think it’s a fitting transition for the next half of their story and the playlist, however!

If you read all of this, thank you for reading my ramblings and probably way too detailed thoughts on this ship lmao, I am clearly deep in my feelings about it. I will do another one of these posts soon for the second half of the playlist, which will be all angst and yearning and anger! Hehe.

hey guys do you want a really long LIST of SONGS that basically is only interesting to me

here’s a lost of my top 5 songs from 3 artists/bands that mean the most to me musically and artistically (Coldplay, Lemon Demon, Ween) as well as just 5 other songs not from those artists but are songs that i also like a lot right now

TOP 5- WEEN

5. Don’t shit where you eat- oooghhh just a nice easy listening song

4. Hey There Fancypants- ashamed to say i haven’t listened to Quebec all the way through but I’ve listened to most of it and idk! I just like fun sillygoofy songs. also there’s this fan music video that was uploaded on youtube in like 2006? And it’s so fun, im not a music video person im a “i make my OWN imaginary mvs in my HEAD and OCCSIONALLY on paper” but i like that music video so so so much

3. Ocean Man- I mean this song was my introduction to Ween so yeah ofc its on here lol? And also that it’s just a great song Lol?

2. Transdermal Celebration/Buckingham Green- I’m not cheating by putting 2 in one slot bc these songs both itch the same part of my brain that likes epic ween songs that for some reason I associate almost exclusively with Terraria bc I listened to them at around the same time I was getting back into terraria in 2019 lmfaooooooo

1. Waving My Dick In The Wind- IM NOT BEING IRONIC ABOUT THIS. This is 1000000% genuine this is my favorite ween song of all time and always has been and more than likely always will be. Tbh it’s in my top 3 fav songs of all time i’ve ever liked from any artist. It’s got memories attached to it. It’s one of my favorite songs to play on guitar. This song is literally like a part of my being. Yeah bitch i AM waving my dick in the wind. You really SHOULDVE seen ol jimmy wilson dance. If it all goes right i’ll be in your arms tonight. yeah bitch

yes it is a little funny having Coldplay wedged between lemon demon and ween but i’ve been listening to coldplay nonstop since i was born and that’s not an exaggeration. My great grandma bought my parents a cd of Parachutes around when I was born

5. Talk- man this song just makes me feel a way. it’s so nice. i’ve got so many good things associated with it. Minecraft is the biggest one btw for some reason. Probably bc i listened to this album a lot in 4th grade when i was suuuuuper into Minecraft for the first time. also a coldplay song i relate to in lyrics more than most coldplay songs

4. Violet Hill- VASTLY UNDERRATED. i fucking love angry coldplay songs so much. there’s angrier songs that exist i know. but we’re talking about this band.

3. Arabesque- mmm best song from Everyday Life no contest! Half of the song is a saxophone solo! This is a coldplay song I literally made an oc to and unlike some of the others I made when i was 9 my boy stuck around. shoutout to my oc Pixie. yeah bitch you are two angles of the same view

2. Hurts Like Heaven- i have so many good associations w this song. This album came out when i was i think 8 or 9? Like. PRIME age when I was starting to get into art and writing. I made several ocs to this song. It means just so much to me. the whole album does tbh. It was the first concert I went to and it was one of the best experiences of when i was that age

1. Viva La vida- i mean what would I be saying about myself if it wasn’t high on the list anyway. Genuinely the best Coldplay song I think. Not even remotely controversial i think but still

4. Spiral Of Ants- SONGS THAT MAKE ME CRY one time i wrote about the emotional impact this song has on the album as a whole for a school project. i wonder if i still have it saved somewhere. i hope i do

Bill Watterson- NUMBER ONE CATCHIEST SONG EVARRRR and its about STALKING THE CREATOR OF CALVIN AND HOBBES yknow there’s this music camp i go to every summer and next year is the first year i’m gonna be a counselor, and all the counselors and volunteers get to perform a song on their own during one of the lunch periods in the week and ik its about 11 months away but i think this is the song im gonna play. its so much fun to play. whip out a guitar right now and look up “bill watterson lemon demon chords” its so good on the ears

2. Eighth Wonder- top most feel good songs ever tbh. more songs need to be exactly like Eighth Wonder. this is what i want my music to be like when i make music. if you arw Mad. -_- Okay if you are Hate Eighth Wonder -_- Okat BUT We are not fighting :3

1. The Ocean- THIS IS A SONG ABOUT ME. BTW. if my dna and brain matter were cloned to be put into an analyzer that could turn dna and brain matter into a song it would just come out with The Ocean by Lemon Demon again.

*sight* I’m not very consistent about this. I do try to respond, especially if it’s a comment from a recip in an exchange/someone I’m gifting the fic to or if there’s some question in the comment or if like the comment is longer/more detailed/provides a basis for a conversation or something. But, really, I adore all comments! I’m just bad at getting my shit together and also I’m not sure if people actually care about/want to receive a response that just says “thank you” lol. (But then…I don’t want to respond to some of the comments and not the others so….)

6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I really…don’t know honestly. For one, I’ve written a bunch of fic and a LOT of it has been angst. Also like…do fics like Down By The Water, Despair, or Salt and Iron count? Because they’re all fics that are very sad and deal directly with (canonical) character death, but they’re also short and like…the whole fic is about the angst? It’s not just the ending? I want to believe Someone Else packs a punch at the end. And, hm, Our Beautiful Disaster and Nobody's Hero (Except For Maybe Yours) both end in major character death without much resolution for the people left behind… But, ok, probably the one that actually wins this category is the You and Me series. (And I kinda feel like to get the full impact of the ending you’d wanna read the whole series, not just the last fic. Because the investment is part of the pain in the end lol.)

7. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve ever written?

Actual legit crossovers…very, very few. On AO3, I think I only have one true crossover, and it’s W&P x Suits, which I guess is weird enough.

8. have you ever received hate on a fic?

On AO3, no. Like not actual hate. There have been a couple of weird/kinda rude/wanky comments.

9. do you write smut?

Rarely. Usually, if I do it’s because the fic is for a prompt or a gift to someone and I know/think they’d appreciate that. (For reference, the last time I posted an M rated fic was in March, and the one before that was in November of 2017. I have a total of 2 E rated fics on AO3.)

10. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not on AO3. There was an Incident many years back on the TFN forums…. I have also found one “pirated” translation of one of my fics lol, though also not on AO3.

11. have you ever co-written a fic before?

Back on FFN, there was one, yes, in the SW fandom. It never got finished.

12. what’s your all time favorite ship?

Which ship I’m most highkey about at any given moment tends to change over time, but I guess Dolokhov/Anatole (book verse, not Great Comet) has so far always been that one Now And Forever OTP To Top All OTPs even if I don’t currently exactly have inspiration to write for it or I’m more highkey about other ships now.

13. what was the first fandom you wrote for?

Formally? Lizzie McGuire. (Almost none of these got posted to AO3, though.)

14. what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Yea, I’ve written too much fic and, luckily, I’ve been very happy with a decent number of it, so this is really too hard to answer lol.

Hm hm hmmmmmm I always have like, a deep attachment to music as a person i grew up playing instruments, singing opera, doing theater so music and sound design always got me like 👀👀👀👀 so this is a tough one. Hmmmmmm

1: Weak by AJR.

It’s kinda a cliche song but it just, makes something go feral in monkey brain when I hear it and I just go OFF. Like the head banging the screaming the lyrics the whole nine yards I just lose myself in it. The bass always hits me like right where I need it and and I love that it’s one of those emotional encouraging songs but it’s not meant to seranade, it’s meant to be grungy and loud and for you to kinda scream your emotions out along with it and I just, vibe so hard it’s one of those songs I put on when I really need to be like “yeah I’m weak what about it????” And just really work through some shit.

2: Viva La Vida by Coldplay.

Another cliche one but for much of the same reasons as the first. It’s one of those songs that no matter how much time has gone by I always ALWAYS come back to it. It’s just such a comfort song for me and it’s always got me feeling melancholy after. I have a tendency to miss people/things I shouldn’t because of abandonment issues hit hard when it’s literally your entire life and shitty people feel better than being alone, at least that’s how it feels sometimes, but VLV is one of those songs that I put on when I’m feeling that kinda way that reminds me the past is the past and it’s not all awful but it’s okay to not want to go back and just, remember but not miss it.

3: Belong by Slenderbodies

Okay so I’m lame af but I still watch vanoss gaming if you know who that is and if not basically I never left my middle school music phase and this is one of his outros but it’s just so good?? I vibe so hard with this song and it’s one that I can put on to dance around to while I’m sweeping my apartment or I can listen to it while I’ve got my hammock up on campus and just relax. It’s just a really chill song that just increases my serotonin and makes me want to just cruse along on my longboard and just, enjoy the sun and feel myself in my skin. It’s just! A good! Song!

4: Crystal Dolphin by Englewood

I know it’s a remix of another song but I can’t remember which. But!! Either way take about an injection of serotonin this song just makes me feel so good for literally no reason. I just play it with my headphones on blast and just VIBE. Like I’m listening to all of these songs I’m listing as I go to really get a feel for reactions and it just makes me feel like I need to get up and walk around as I’m typing to just get moving and vibe. It makes me feel like just floating in the ocean and loving life I can’t explain it it’s just such a mood booster.

5: Forbidden Friendship by John Powell.

If anyone knows this song specifically I’ll be very surprised but it’s the song from how to train your dragon when hiccup and toothless are drawing eachother and having that moment together. HTTYD is hands down my favorite movie of all time and I will forever be, the music and scores in that film rock me to my core everytime I see it and listen to them they just. I can’t begin to explain how much that movie means to me and how much this song means to me. Even now I’m listening to it as I type this out and I can’t begin to explain how I’m feelings. I feel like, raw like I’m about to have a panic attack but I’m not because I’m just so overwhelmed by the music and the story and just the beauty of it all it just really makes my head spin and my hands shake and my heart race it’s just, so much all at once yknow? It’s like, I’m transcending and overwhelmed and like my skins to small it’s very strange to say. It’s not a bad feeling it’s just a lot of intensity.

And those are my top 5! There’s a lot of songs I really react to vehemently and one song that almost made it here was oogway acends from Kung fu panda, that’s the song I listen to when I need to cry and can’t for whatever reason lol. Tag game: 5 things about me (sorry for typos I’m not editing this lol)

Hi there. I was tagged by @the-cloud-whisperer thank you for tagging me friend. Rules: List five things about yourself you want your followers to know. It can be very simple or very specific. Then you tag at least 10 people.

1.I’m an artist and I love to paint and sketch. Recently I’ve been wanting to try glass blowing and maybe sewing. I love the idea of making things for the people I love ( I prefer making gifts rather than buying, because it feels more heartfelt tbh). I’ve also never really tried pottery but that’s something else I’d like to get into. Potentially sculpting in the far future although idk if I’ll be any good at it.

2.Career wise I’m currently going to school to become a veterinarian (currently I’m a lifeguard) I’ve always loved animals and since I was a child I knew I wanted to in a career where I could help someone. I was straight shooting to become a pediatrics doctor or a dermatologist since I was in the 6th grade. Then I realized that although I love children, my passion truly wasn’t to become a human doctor (it was more what I wanted to do to make my mom proud. 3.I’m donating blood again today and idk y’all for some reason I’m getting shy of the needle which is always what happens to me when I donate blood. I’ve had some pretty bad donating experiences (last time I didn’t eat too much, and when I got home I ran to the bathroom upstairs to pee. I was immediately hit with a nauseating light headed feeling but I was okay) It has yet to deter me from donating, so that’s good I guess. Idk I just always get so nervous before a donation. Maybe I’ll do some Yoga before I go to calm myself down.

4.My favorite show is supernatural (love destiel they’ve been my longest true love although I do love zukaang though I didn’t start appreciating zukaang until I was an adult). I know the shows a whole mess but I’ve been watching it since I was little and I’m emotionally attached to it.

5.I love reading (not very much good at writing) I’m currently working up the courage to read Uncle Ricks TOA. I read the first book, but then I decided to wait 4 years for all the books to be out so I wouldn’t be left on some cliffhangers. Now that they’re all out I’m nervous because I don’t want to be disappointed like I was for HOO.

Kado 7 (includes notes on Kado 6.5 + Tsukigakirei 6.5)

Some notes on the recap: It’s interesting they styled the title card to be like a silent movie, but the embellishments in the top corners are high-tech. Tsukigakirei’s recap was a slog because it awkwardly cut, but because of all the indications of time and the fact there’s already a narrator, this show fits a recap style much better (but the titlecards and changing of the eyecatch make this ep feel fresh, which is great!). Also, it seems I was wrong about how it had been three days since Kado’s appearance (see ep 5’s commentary), because the counter hits 5 days when the first passengers are released.

Wait…that “brain” was a device???

“Hi Setten”, LOL. Also, I found out “kado” (with this combo of kanji -> 過度) can mean “excess” or “immoderation”, and “setten” means “settings” or “options”...I first remember seeing the word in the Boueibu game, where “setten” of course would refer to things like “volume on/off” and that.

Apparently, the Google CEO’s name is Sundar Pichai…I thought it was Larry Page and Sergey Brin as co-CEOs, but I guess I was wrong…Also notice Ward’s iPad says “ihou sonzai” (anisotropic being).

I’ve seen the “I can’t dry my laundry!” screenshot before, but seeing it in context is funny all over again. In fact, it makes it even funnier.

I was worried about how the show might get a little too philosophical after ep 6’s end, but it’s good to see Hanamori retains his sleeping capabilities. *stifles laughter* They even rendered Hanamori’s bedhead.

“Kado comes here, and instead of running, they find a way to market it.” – It’s an interesting, yet extremely obvious point that we tend to ignore because we’re so used to it. That’s why tourism – even fake tourism - sells. Why do I bring this up? Because I want to, for one, and because I hope to exploit this angle for Half-Paid Heroes. (I wanna know how to make Kado cake, too…)

CR subbers, I thought Gonno’s first name was “Takumi”?...

That’s cute, it’s a helicopter landing spot, complete with “H” marking.

If I didn’t know any better, I might’ve called Shindo zaShunina’s sidekick. (LOL)

This “stacks of books” scene is something like what I imagined when I wrote White Parasite’s La Luna’s hideout in the mountains…that’s one of the reasons I’ve been able to give Kado and zaShunina an unyielding love. Also, I thought the promo 2D Shunina looked creepy, so this 2D shot of Shunina stole my heart!!!

The cube seats remind me of those child corners in libraries and that, where you have mini stools for playing pretend. Oh. Speaking of which, it reminds me of this Rubik’s cube.

Okay. I thought Kado would be a show devoid of such things, but let’s play the game of “What drugs were the producers on today?”

Okkkkkkkkkay. (stifles laughter) Did you realise the Shunina heads made a heart, with the “real” (existing in the normal dimensions) Shunina in the middle? Hahaha…

Wait. That screaming thing in episode…2, I think it was? The bit where Shindo grabs his head in agony?...was Shunina giving him (Shindo) the sense of the anisotropic? Ahhhhhhhhh. That makes sense now!

“They were good humans.” – Just in case you didn’t forget Shunina is an extradimensional bishie being. I guess it’s kind of along the lines of Kai’s (Royal Tutor’s) “You’re all good boys!”, which is true both there and here. In most cases (except maybe Shunina and Ward), the boys of Kado are good boys.

A bookmark. For an avid reader like Shunina (or myself…haha), it’s a perfect gift. Just make sure they’re not so heavy they fall out of books, because then they’re useless.

They put the festival scene in 2D! (It would be a cost cutting measure for sure, but…you know what I said about 2D Shunina previously? Yeah, that.) Also, it just goes to show you even a high concept sci-fi show like this goes for the jugular in depicting fanservice for the “people who like hot guys” and “people who like tsunderes”. However, did Shunina change his own clothes? Did Shindo or someone else get the yukata for him? Does Shunina even have the concept of “changing clothes”???

How do you lose an anisotropic being at a festival? I actually hope he isn’t being rabidly devoured by a bunch of girls who think he’s hot.

Just seeing the credits reminded me that Shinawa was absent this ep (which was good). Also, has Natsume appeared in every ep’s credits so far? I don’t remember because I normally don’t watch credits.

Boku no Hero Academia 21

The more I watch Mei, the more I feel like I’m watching The Truman Show (where there’s one woman who advertises things near the beginning of the movie).

The belt transformation refers to sentai heroes.

Hmm…I agree with Deku on Aoyama’s strategy, since his laser is best used from afar.

That was an unexpected (for me) win for Tokoyami. I knew his Quirk was good all around, but I thought Yaoyorozu would win for sure. It’s just the difference in confidence, eh?

I kinda get what Uraraka’s saying. After all, she might end up dragging Deku down one day by relying on him too much.

Grimoire of Zero 7

It annoys me how tavern girl looks so similar to Zero.

Why do fantasy travellers (or Brock in Pokémon, for that matter) never have big packs? You’d think they do…

Ouch, Licht, you got burnt! On the other hand, I agree with Bruno that he should sleep forever, noting past comments I’ve heard him (Licht) say.

Ah, the zoo. What nostalgia that brings. I’ve been to the closest zoo at least twice…thrice…four times…? I don’t remember anymore, but the zoo is always a fun place.

My heart sank a little when I saw they weren’t using the cheesy live-action version of the ED. Still the next episode looks like it will address some plot-critical things, and I’m worried for Kai because he’s the sort who can’t get over his problems easily. (As a sidenote, a similar tabloid article shtick was used in SGRS, so I welcome this plotline.)

Vita Sexualis is a Mori Ougai work, so I’m kinda on edge about it…knowing Bungou’s Ougai, that is.

Why does this ep’s title sound like it should be a Boueibu one instead???

These (mostly still) shots of theme parks just make it seem like the staff are scrounging for money.

According to the omake at the end of one ep, you’re meant to ship Roman with the teacher (as ick as that is), so I can understand why Roman’s on his lonesome.

Stop egging her on, Hira! She’ll get nervous! (I say that because I don’t like roller coasters much.)

I feel like the word “viva” is being overdone, attendant person. Google-sensei says the word means “live (verb)”, so it doesn’t make sense at all.

Hira’s freckles really don’t seem to be a mistake. Also my brain can’t make sense of “sorabune” – the word for ship/boat is “fune”, but it doesn’t become “bune” when attached to another word...not that I know of, anyway.

Yamashina? We’ve never been told Roman’s surname before…

It’s nice that they didn’t do the full-on “can on face at aumsement park” thing I’ve come to expect from romances, because Detective Conan kinda solidified that as the norm for me.

The Big O in this case isn’t an anime, it’s a Ferris wheel.

Josei Next Door did a CR article where she suggested people needed to talk to each other more, and while it was on The Royal Tutor, sometimes I wish Akane and Kotarou would talk to each other properly too…welp, I spoke too soon (sort of).Why “sort of”? Because Kotarou is speaking to Hira, but he ain’t speaking to Akane.

I feel a twinge of guilt in that I wanted Chinatsu’s and Hira’s dreams to be shattered to make way for the canon couple, and Chinatsu’s tears exacerbate that feeling. I guess this is what it’s like to be a shipper, eh – to ignore the feelings of couples in order to get your own way, knowing your dreams may not even become reality? (But can’t these kids all be happy??? It could easily be a “pair the spares” situation, now that I think of it.)

The takoyaki’s nice, but that background with the screaming girl is creepy…It appears to be a parody on Beavertails, for some odd reason. Why is there a Canadian product being used as product placement in an anime (and why a product I’ve only ever heard of from a Canadian TV show, to boot)???...*record scratch* Okay, I’m weirded out, and I admit defeat. Beavertails exist in Japan.

Couple selfies. That just goes to show how much trends can permeate culture…hey, does that mean people may one day use memes in anime? (Even though anime creates memes?) It’s meme-ception!

It seems live action footage was used for this show, if you look closely, and it’s not just the OP I’m talking about…

Finally, a part of Tsukigakirei I can get behind! These night scenes are so real! If it weren’t for Kotarou and Akane, I’d think these scenes to be photos and not animation at all.

I get this feeling that we’ll end with either their graduation or them as adults, with Kotarou telling their kids “…and this is how I met your mother.” Which would be awkward as all get out, but okay. (I haven’t seen How I Met Your Mother by the way, although it sounds like a scenario that would happen in it…)

Aw, dangit. They got their kiss interrupted. At least it wasn’t by Chinatsu, that would’ve caused more tears on her end.

Mireta (used in “Did you see the fireworks?”) seems to be an odd formation of mieta, but in slang, people break the grammar rules all the time, so I’d suspect people break the spelling rules too.

I was surprised to find out this ep’s ED LINE chat is a wife to a husband. That confirms my How I Met Your Mother thoughts, somewhat. (The husband had overtime and got the wife juice. It seems they were going to an event, because the wife says to check the invitation guest list...and so on, so forth.)

Oh? There are more omakes? I’ll watch ‘em someday when I’m bored…I guess.
