📽 and 💬 for the tf asks~
📽- What was your first TF series?
Technically, Bayverse, but spiritually, TFA. So the full story of how I got into TF is that I was friends with like, the other three (semi)out queer-and-ally teens my age at my incredibly conservative secondary school, and we were all to greater or lesser degrees in fandom bc lol ofc, and one of them was into Bayverse fic after the 2007 movie. Anyway, she was gonna see RotF in 2009, and wanted someone to come see it with her. She was basically like 'dude, I know it sounds weird, but Transformers fic is WILD and I think you could totally dig this fandom'. I bought a cheap DVD of the 07 movie and didn't hate it- I liked Mikaela especially, even if I was like 'ugh this director's a skeeze' lol. I went and saw it with her, and look, RotF is an AWFUL movie, but at least in the cinema, those effects were fun in a truly mindless way, and I had found enough decent fandom stuff I was like man, there's gotta be SOMETHING here underneath, I can tell this fandom came from somewhere. Being the kind of 'consume all the Lore TM I can find immediately' person I am, I wound up on a tfwiki dive, and was WAY more interested in basically everything TF related I found there than I was Bayverse.
Anyway, this was around when TFA was wrapping up, just before TFP aired. It immediately grabbed my attention bc it reminded me of Teen Titans- turned out it shared Wyatt as a prominent creative, so no surprise there- and I watched that. And I looooved it, it was deeply fun and charming in a way Bayverse obviously wasn't, and 100% up my alley. So I went from mild 'eh, OK, I'll think about this for two weeks or so' to 'ohhhh I like THIS Transformers, I like the actual main franchise a LOT actually' and I just. Never left, lmao. Even when TFP didn't grab me much after it started airing, I stuck with the franchise... well, it'll be 13 years soon, haha. (And yeah, TFA is to this day my Transformers Of All Time TM, as anyone who watched me lose my mind for several days at the s4 opener reading broadcast last year can attest.)
💬- Favorite Obscure TF fact!
I have so many, but also I hang out with the kind of people who win TFN quizzes and write literal books on the subject, so I'm awful at gauging what counts as obscure dfjkdshj. Hmm. I think the fact there is a wholesale reference to Minimus Ambus in the bio for the Masterpiece redeco of Magnus into Delta Magnus (aka 'original Diaclone super convoy') counts, in the JP G1 continuity. His toy bio is basically just IDW Minimus by a different name.

Last thing you bought online? Did you like it? OMG OMG so I got Angela an Army Bomb!!!!!! for her birthday!!!! It was HELLLL looking for sealed ones that were already onhand, but fortunately I was able to find one from this really nice seller a few days ago and the shipping was quick as well. I’m just a little worried because the outbox has a little dent on it :( but it was the best onhand offer I could find so I got it before anybody could call dibs. I still hope she likes it! I got her batteries too so that she can try lighting it up as soon as she has it. :D
Could you date someone who didn’t drive (and didn’t show an interest in ever getting their license, either)?  I feel like this is such a petty thing to make a big deal about...if they knew how to commute or any other way to get to their destination, I don’t think this should be a problem. It would only be an issue to me if they refused to get a license in a very I-generally-lack-ambition kind of way.
How would you react if your artwork became famous?  I don’t have any to show off to begin with. I love appreciating art, but creating it was never a forte of mine.
Would you get your nipples pierced?  No, I don’t plan on getting any piercings. How many people know your birthday?  Outside of my family, my best friends. I think everyone else relies on Facebook to be reminded, which is fine with me.
Has anyone ever tried to ruin a relationship you were in?  No. Quite the contrary, really...I was sometimes informed about red flags taking place, which of course my stubborn ass ignored.
Have you ever watched a whole hour long infomercial?  Probably, as a kid. The channel from which I used to watch WWE aired these really long infomercials so I would watch those while waiting for like Raw or whatever show was going on after.
What is your current MySpace song?  I never hung out on Myspace. I had an account, but I was too young for it so it wasn’t long before I got bored.
What is your favorite kind of meat to put on your sandwich?  Pulled pork or fried chicken.
Which one of your exes do you feel like you have the most chemistry with?  I only have one ex.
How do you feel about people who make Facebook profiles for their pets? I find it really cute. But I personally wouldn’t put in as much effort lol.
Have you ever personally known a pair of conjoined twins?  Hmmmmmmmm I don’t think so.
What was the most disturbing thing you have ever heard your mother say? She threatened suicide in front of me and my dad in a very calm way when I was around 11, I think? Maybe 12, idk. I haven’t actually thought about that moment in an extremely long time until this question. I’ll move on now and shove the memory at the very very back of my head before I get sad.
Is there something in particular you like to look at photos of? What is it?  Aside from members of BTS (lol), interior design inspirations.
Chewy chocolate-chip cookies: like or dislike?  Ooh, love. When I bite into a cookie it hassssss to ooze chocolate, otherwise I would be underwhelmed.
If your boyfriend/girlfriend wanted to dress only in the opposite sex’s clothing, would you support that? If not, would you leave them?  Support.
Do you think your grandmother is/was beautiful?  They both are.
Which of your fields of interest are you a total expert on?  Anything that has to do with writing (except poems), I guess? I like being able to give people advice and tips when it comes to that.
When was the last time you got all dolled up?  Last July when we had a big PR media launch thingy and I couldn’t afford to look like shit on Zoom.
Do you ever name objects? (i.e. mp3 players, guitars, cars, etc.)  Never.
Do you have a criminal record?  Not criminal but it’s possibleeeee that I have some kind of record on my license from the time I got stopped by an officer in Alabang, lmao. It was a minor offense from a tiny part of the town so I don’t actually know if they filed it, but it’s possible.
Last person you took a nap with?  I don’t really nap with other people. I hate falling asleep in front of others to begin with.
Does seeing your mother cry automatically make you feel sad as well?  No.
Do you think someone likes the same person you like?  I don’t like anybody.
Do you want your life to stay the way it is right now forever?  No, I do not want to stay in a pandemic and not get to maximize my life the way it’s supposed to be enjoyed forever.
Have you ever been to craigslist.com?  I’ve never checked it out; idk if we have that here?
What about eBay?  I also dunno if they operate here so no, I’ve never bothered.
Have you ever used Nair?  Not Nair, but I’ve used Veet before.
Are you medicated?  Nope.
Do you shape/fill in your eyebrows?  I never do stuff to my eyebrows except shave them.
Have you ever stolen/borrowed clothes from an ex?  Several articles of clothing were left behind here, yeah. I never had the chance to give them back because I stupidly thought we were going to get back together eventually. By the time I moved on the timing was already off, so the clothes stayed with me untillll...just a few days ago, actually – when I finally cleaned up my room and got rid of a bunch of knickknacks that accumulated here over the years, including all her shirts and sweaters and stuff.
Could you make a statement about anything political?  The 2022 presidential election landscape looks like complete shit and I’m nearly at that point where I want to stop giving a fuck about this country’s future.
Do you think you’ve already met your soulmate?  No.
Do you get the feeling something good will happen in your life soon?  I think I’m already living in it, haha.
Do you enjoy romantic movies, even when they’re cliche?  Sure, but cliché is also hit and miss for me. I love Titanic and Love Actually, but I cannot stand movies like Me Before You and The Notebook. I guess it depends on certain executions, like the acting, screenplay, casting, etc.
Have you been to McDonald’s in the past month?  No, not inside. We did drive-thru within the last month, though.
Have you ever slept over at your best friend’s house?  Not at Andi’s, but I have at Angela’s.
How often do you go bowling?  Extremely rarely. I can’t tell you the last time I went bowling.
Last time you were in an apartment?  Like 2007 when I visited my aunt back when she still lived in one. None of my friends have their own apartments.
Have you ever seen a live seahorse?  I don’t think so.
Would you like to have your own yacht? I mean I wouldn't say no if you offered it to me for free, but I'm not exactly interested in one. < Same.
Winnie the Pooh or Tigger?  Tigger always made me laugh as a kid.
What’s the unhealthiest thing you’ve eaten today?  Luncheon meat, I think? I didn’t go overboard with the junk food today.
Has a stranger ever offered to buy you a drink?  Hm, not that I can recall.
What is something you’d be happy to receive as a gift, that doesn’t cost a lot?  A bag of the salted egg chips that I really like costs like 30 bucks, or roughly 60 US cents.
What kind of music does your significant other/crush like to listen to?  I don’t have any irl crushes, can I use a celebrity crush instead? HAHA he’s heavily into jazz and whenever he gets asked for music recos he always gives jazz artists from like the 50s and 60s.
Who did you have your first kiss with? Do you remember what colour his/her eyes were?  Gab. Dark brown.
Are there any themes from TV shows that you like to sing along to? The Big Bang Theory and Friends; and then I also liked humming to the themes of Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and BoJack Horseman. The Phineas & Ferb theme was also a lot of fun to sing along to.
Do you eat dessert after dinner? No, I never do that. I’m usually already full after dinner, and we don’t always have sweets at home anyway.
Have you ever had too much to drink and felt embarrassed about your behavior the next day?  Sure.
When you go out drinking, what do you prefer to drink?  Cocktails. I very rarely go for hard drinks/shots, especially if I brought my own car.
What was the last animal that you saw?  Dog.
What was the last thing that you said to one of your siblings?  I just told my sister I was done using her laptop so she can have it back. My Memories of 2020 DVD turned out to be region-locked so I have to use her laptop every time I want to watch it :(
What is the most expensive thing that you’ve purchased that you paid for:  My Map of the Soul photobook cost me around 5k in total.
What is your favorite messaging program?  Messenger.
Do you eat fast food more than 5 times a week?  Wow no. Aside from being extremely unhealthy, that’s also a LOT of spending??
Have you ever almost drowned?  Yes.
Have you ever learned something shocking about someone through Facebook?  I mean I’ve had to learn about more than one family death through my Facebook feed, which sucks but is nothing I have control over. Otherwise the most shocking thing I’ve seen is probably classmates from high school having their own kids, but at this point I’m used to it already.
What’s the scariest living animal that you’ve petted?  I’m not really afraid of carrying/petting animals especially if there’s a guide or expert nearby, but the most daring one was probably the crocodile I volunteered to hold in Palawan.
Do you remember the first conversation you ever had with the person you currently have feelings for?  Not at all.
Do you dread certain days of the week? If yes, what day/s and why?  I hate Mondays for obvious reasons lol. I don’t know anyone who is actively cheery about reporting back to work.
If you eat oatmeal, do you have it plain or do you have certain toppings that you like to add to it?  I never eat oatmeal. I had that every single day for breakfast from like kindergarten to 4th grade and I vowed never to take a spoonful of it again.
What is the funniest or strangest thing you’ve ever heard somebody say in their sleep?  I dunno. I used to keep a log of the things my ex used to say in her sleep and a great deal of them were hilarious, but obviously I deleted that note a long time ago.
Choose one - Butterfinger, Milky Way, Snickers:  Butterfinger.
Do you use Mozilla Firefox? Nopes.
Who is your favorite person to hug? Angela and Laurice.
Have you ever had to have a mug shot?  Nope.
What was the last thing you carried to your room?  Kimi.
When was the last time you had a late night phone call?  WELL over a year ago.

I was tagged by @cupcakecurl a while back (thank you!) and finally I’m on the mood for doing this myself as well!
Rules: tag 9 people you’d like to get to know better!
Top 3 current ships: I actually have just one OTP, which is Bela/Farin (aka FUB) from Die Ärzte, and then multiple smaller ones here and there. I’m finding new ships way too easily and sometimes it bugs me because I meant to enjoy a thing and boom, suddenly I have a ship there to fuck up with my brain. B/F is pretty much the only ship that I can say to actually ship, the rest are more like just for fun, I enjoy seeing stuff but I don’t really do anything about it, you know?
But now as I think of it, I think of it, I could say another band ship here: Paulchard aka Paul Landers and Richard Z. Kruspe from Rammstein, about these I have also watched videos and read some fancomics too and last summer’s tour was a wild one and I was following the events quite a lot.
And then maybe I could throw one fictional ship here too as it’s pretty much current one since I just finished watching the 5th season of Gotham last week, and that is, of course Nygmobblepot aka Penguin/The Riddler aka Oswald Cobblepot/Edward Nygma. I’ve never in my life shipped these before, even tho I’ve been a Batman fan since 1999 (I was 8) as I saw the 60s series on TV and I can remember almost shipping Batman and Robin back then, and I was only 8 years old!, and then had been watching the movies more or less during my childhood, but this was never something I’d even think of before I started watching Gotham and things started happening in the show. But it’s an interesting one. And I have to admit that while the show was still running and I couldn’t watch it because I live in Europe (and was too lazy to look for a website to watch it :D), I was still browsing the tag on Tumblr after each episode and giving myself spoilers of what happens with them. But I think the ending was a lot different than what I thought based on the Tumblr posts, and I’m actually not sure what to think of it. Imho it was not as bad as everyone else seemed to think.
I’m putting this under a read more link as this is getting way too long and I don’t know if people are interested in reading my weird thoughts about ships and other random stuff, so here you go...
Top 3 all-time ships:  Oh my gosh, I have had so many but only like 2 actually strong ones? And I have to say Bela/Farin here as well, the reasons are found from above and I’m just so obsessed with them and idc what it is, already the friendship is like friendhip goals, you know? But yeah, I’ve been making videos about these two idiots for like last 10 years so... :D
And the next one, okay I’m usually not so talkative about ships. I can talk about them with people in private but I don’t like to go and shout about them publicly, probably the only one I talk about this way is Bela/Farin but it’s because Tumblr is a safe place for this and there’s no hate with this ship or anything (and the other one is Paulchard, every now and then I will reblog something that crosses my dash). But mainly I like to keep ships to myself and like I said in that other tag game post, ships are more like a guilty pleasure. Maybe because of my age as it was very normal at the age of 15 but now as I’m 28? Why am I still “in love with other people’s love”? I actually don’t mind it but I think many people would find it weird, especially when I don’t read fanfictions anymore and I don’t want to imagine anything, I just like seeing cute stuff, but with many ships I don’t even want to see too much, I just like seeing them being close but with many ships even seeing them kiss would be too much.
But anyway, top 3 all-time ships... I think I need to mention here a ship that I was very much obsessed when I was 15-17, that I wrote LOTS OF fanfiction and was there to make lots of fan theories and all, and that one was Frerard aka Gerard Way/Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance. I was SO obsessed it’s insane. If you know anything about MCR and Frerard, you maybe are aware of how was the year 2007 and you can probably imagine how crazy we all went when Project Revolution stuff happened. So yeah, I need to mantion that here even tho I no longer “believe in this ship”, but I guess I’d lie if I said, that I didn’t believe that there was something there back in the day. I’ve actually recently been watching some Frerard theory videos just for fun, because there’s so many things I had forgotten and so many things I still can remember, but also lots of stuff that I kinda missed because they happened in 2010-2012, and even tho I was still very much in the fandom and I was to their second gig in Finland in 2011, I still was not that much into the Danger Days album so I was not so into digging up stuff either. And I had my own identity crisis and Die Ärzte had been my favorite band for 1-2 years at that time so I was spending lots of time watching DÄ videos, so MCR was kinda at the background. And then the whole band went quiet for some time until they quit in 2013 (and now they’re back), so all that Frerard hype kinda died after each of them started to get married to other people and the kids were born, so there just... kinda was no more room for the ship, you know? But Freard was my first actual huge slash ship, I’ve had others before it (for example, my first touch to slash fiction was Harry Potter fanfiction and of course Harry/Draco stuff, but that one also later died out), but it was the first really strong one and then Bela/Farin kinda took its place as Frerard died out but B/F has been going strong and the ship has been sailing itself since the 80s, so... :D
And as the last one I think I could again mention something fictional but at the same time something that is super weird for me as it’s not slash fiction but hetship, which is something REALLY weird for me. I usually don’t like heteroships as they’re just... boring and so cliché. But I need to mention this one that I got into when I was 15: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully from The X-Files. Yeah I know it was 2006 and the series had ended already in 2002, but I was a new fan! I had known about the series since I was a little kid as my dad was watching it back then, but I started watching it myself when the show had a rerun here in 2004-2005. And then I met my friend in 2006 when we were 15 and we found out that we both were very much into TXF and I remember how we somehow both started to ship Mulder and Scully (having no idea of how the series ended), and it was probably until the 6th season (there was 9 seasons at the time) when they stopped airing it altogether, so we were so furious about the fact because the last episode was such a cliffhanger and we NEEDED TO KNOW, so I had to buy them on dvd! So I remember how we would meet at school every day and after every episode, we went so crazy, discussing what had happened in the episode and if there was any Mulder/Scully activity, we were just so hyped :D And then, as we STILL hadn’t seen all the seasons, we went to see the second movie (”TXF: I want to believe”) in theaters in 2008 or so, and it’s set to happen after the events of the seasons, we were both so blown away by what was in the movie because we had no clue :D Fun fact: I actually finished watching the 9th season only last year. So now I understand the events of the second movie a lot better, and I’ve also seen the 10th and 11th seasons so now I’m finally aware of everything. But that really is a hetship that I accept and that is not like a typical movie romance type of ship. It has interesting dynamics.
---
Last song: Tatuoituna by Tehosekoitin
Lipstick or chapstick: Chapstick, I don’t use any make-up, but chapstick I need to use daily.
Last movie: Iron Sky. I’ve seen it before tho, but we’re gonna watch the sequel soon, so we had to watch this to remember what happened :D (And it’s made partially by Finns, so..!)
Reading: Atm I have 3 books I’m reading, all of them in Finnish:
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which has all the short stories in one. But I think there’s some of the newer ones missing and that’s why I bought this bit newer book with more stories, and I’m gonna read those once I’m finished with this one. And I’ve been reading this now for years lol... but I’m slowly getting there, I’m already over halfway through :D
A collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories, I don’t know the name for this book and it doesn’t say any name for the original. This one I also started to read a years back, only to pause if for years and then last year I borrowed it again from my dad and tried to continue from where I was left the last time.
The Heroes of Olympus: The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. I’ve been reading his books ever since I was a, well, teenager probably, and I have had a long pause with these books and reading overall, but now I’m back at it and trying to buy and read all of his books I still haven’t read.
I wanted to read the latter only after finishing with SH and Poe’s stories but I needed to read something and they’re bit too difficult reading at the times, and I needed something lighter but also didn’t want to start over with Harry Potter for the 5th time so I decided to go for this series instead. I really like reading SH and Poe’s stories, but like I said, they’re bit difficult at the times. You can’t just read them, you need to think and use your brains meanwhile you’re reading, and sometimes it’s just so incredibly hard to stay focused on it and I need to go back so often because I wasn’t paying attention and then had no clue what was happening and why.
And I sometimes I skip some of Poe’s stories because they’re so purely scientific about a topic that I cannot comprehend nor care about, e.g. this one story that was almost like a science essay about hot-air balloon flight in the form of a story, probably super interesting for someone who likes this kind of stuff and even more interesting for a writer interested in stuff like that, but I’m really not the target audience of that story :D But then there’s also lots of really interesting ones, I especially like the ones that have something to do with insanity. I guess people would call them as the horror stories, but idk, I just love that kind of mystery. For some reason all of my favorite stories are those where there is a dead woman/love interest :DD But probably my ultimate favorite is the one about writing an article to a magazine with horror stories, and how this guy become beheaded and all just to write a story about how it feels like and stays alive meanwhile, and I just LOVE IT when fictional works play with death and when something that is supposed to kill you, doesn’t, and I just love the idea of that story so much :D It’s just that you never know how a story will be like, as you start reading, is it a scientific essay or a mystery or a horror story or about insanity or what is it? And then when in the middle of reading and you realize this is bit boring or uninteresting, but still want to finish, but also want to skip, and that’s why I get stuck with that book, and I change to SH or something else. Often I also grab some of the comics (or non-fiction books) I own whenever I feel like reading but these books feel too heavy for that moment.
---
I should tag 9 people but I don’t even know that many people to tag lol. Okay I do know people, but I still don’t know who wants to be tagged and who doesn’t. Maybe I’ll be boring and tag @stufenlosregelbar again? :D And idk, maybe @annika-of-the-lost? Eh, I’m so bad at this whole tagging thing. I’m having a bad conscience if I don’t tag anyone/enough people in case they want to be tagged and I can’t read minds; and then I’m having bad conscience when I DO tag people in case they’re all somewhere facepalming and screaming “WHYYYYYY” into the void, as I still can’t read minds. So you can choose, do this tag game or ignore it and ban me from ever tagging you people again, I don’t mind :p

43-52 days of productivity
This last week has been a doozy, for no particular reason. I just haven’t really had the mental capacity to do this thing for no particular reason? Anyway here’s what I’ve been doing:
- Figured out that the spiders I brought home are some kind of Gnaphosid which... really doesn’t help much as there’s +100 genera with more than 2000 species in that family.
- Went for ice cream with @bjoe1317 and also visited them at their campus at some point
- Did lab work (continued working on those resistant E. coli strain)
- Bought more beads so I can continue making bead animals (started working on a llama)
- Met my girlfriend’s Italian friends!! They were really sweet
- Saw my girlfriend play live at an open mic thing (need I remind you all that she’s fantastic and you can listen to her on soundcloud??)
- Stayed overnight at my girl’s place
- Went to a bazaar not too far away (finally found a good place to buy calf liver yum)
- Had dinner and movie night with my dormmates (we watched the Danish hit family horror/adventure movie from 2007, ‘De Fortabte Sjæles Ø’/Island of Lost Souls which I love dearly and in retrospect I think the main girl was part of my gay awakening)
- Biked (for the first time since fall!) to get some dirt for my snails. Stopped by a second hand store on the way back and bought AvP on DVD and a cat lexicon that I’ve wanted since I was like 8, that they just happened to have
- Watched Starkid’s ‘Twisted’ (it’s so good!! really funny! 10/10)
- Proposed a new term in the otherkin community which I’ve been meaning to do for like half a year. Still need to write a follow-up post
- Met up with @houlebubo for some birthday shopping and managed to figure out the gifts for all 4 people in one day, holy shit. Also pestered my gf at her workplace and dragged her with me to go get a new duvet+pillow cover because I needed one.
- Took part in ace discourse (my least favorite discourse since exclusionists just act fucking vile and hypocritical 24/7).....
- Rearranged my plants and books and a few of my terrariums
- Handed in a short assignment on phage therapy
And today I:
- Did lab work (mainly with fungi)
- Gave my snails and forest critters all new terrariums!!
- Wrapped my mom’s birthday gift
- I guess I was hungry after working with fungi, cause I somehow ate 1½ full container of mushrooms
- Finally kicked myself in the ass to get this post out

Hiiii, we are Luisa and Andy. We live in California, we have been friends since 2007 and this is the story about how we became friends because of @taylorswift.
We’ve lived in the same city for our whole lives, and we met in another city and another state back when we were 12 and 13 and we went to summer camp, at the beginning we weren’t friends, we didn’t talked that much and Luisa thought that I hated her hahaha. The story of us began one night during dinner; our counselors let us play music to make dinner more fun so when it was Luisa’s time to choose she picked none other than TIM MCGRAW. I got so excited cause none of my friends either back home or in camp liked Taylor so I only listened to it at home and I made my sisters listen to her until she grew on them and became fans hahaha, after that we instantly became friends and talked Taylor nonstop! Once we came back home we kept messaging each other through MSN chat, don’t know if you remember it? Luisa was going into 7th grade and I was going to 8th grade and we were going to be attending the same school and we were so excited! Luisa pretended to be Taylor Swift and Andy pretended to be Selena Gomez (EVEN BEFORE they were besties, I had an obsession with Selena and I gotta be honest that I still have hahaha). Back then not many of our friends were using Facebook, it was around 2008 probably, so we used our accounts to upload pictures of Taylor and Abigail and Selena and tag ourselves, and Luisa was the master at photoshopping her face to Taylor’s body hahahaha (we still have those pictures but are private thank god)
We followed Taylor via MySpace, oh how obsessed where we with MySpace, we could spend the whole afternoon designing it and putting a theme and looking for pictures on Photobucket, wow now I feel really old, selecting Teardrops On My Guitar as my song to be played in my profile (and being sneaky and hiding it so people could never pause it hahaha). We were there during the 27 second call drama, oh boy, our 14 year old selves lived for that drama (sorry Taylor, sorry Joe) and it was intense … we cried with Taylor and at the same time we were also obsessed with The Jonas Brothers (Luisa loved Joe and I couldn’t resist Nick’s curls hahahaha) so you could’ve imagine how torn up we were. Forever and Always broke our hearts and even at 14 years understood each lyric perfectly and made perfect sense for us.
So Fearless came out during Andy’s freshman year and Luisa was in 8th grade, we were obsessed and I remember begging my parents to buy me the CD and one day after babysitting my brother my dad took me to Best Buy and told me I had earned it and I think he regretted that idea because the whole way home and every time we were in the car I was playing this CD. We turned 15 on 2009 and OF COURSE we played and sang to each other Fifteen, we were so corny hahaha but at the moment it was our anthem, we couldn’t believe we were 15! Just like Taylor’s song, for us it was like a sign.
I still have it fresh on my memory when she announced the Fearless Tour and oh god, we were soooo excited! We were going to buy tickets and see Taylor for the first time ever! We organized it and two other friends were also coming. The tickets sold out in like 1 minute and we didn’t have the chance to buy them … that’s our sad story haha we missed Taylor that year. There was a time in our lives when we went to high school, Luisa being 1 grade below Andy they started talking less to each other but still were present in each other lives. But we met more people who liked Taylor and we kind of drifted apart for a bit, but it’s all good now hahaha don’t worry!
Then came the Speak Now era and … as you may know we were STILL CRAZY ABOUT TAYLOR. Andy had the opportunity to go to the concert because a friend of hers got tickets, Luisa had tickets to but she had to sell them a week before because her parents couldn’t take her. (We talked about this the other day like WTF why didn’t you asked for a ride with us, but at that moment we didn’t think about it, and well … now that’s in the past). She cried so much because that would’ve been Luisas’ first time seeing her live, and now as I’m writing this I feel like such a bad friend hahaha, thank you Luisa. But then the Speak Now concert DVD came out and of course we bought it and we cried happy tears because that DVD just gives you chills and sad tears because she had missed the concert. Until this day we still watch the DVD, last time we tried to play it, it was almost mission impossible because we couldn’t find a DVD player in the house hahaha.
For the rest of the eras, we still followed Taylor really close. We bought merch, tickets, CDS, magazines, anything that had Taylor’s name or face you name it and we bought it (we’re sorry mom and dad for spending all that money hahaha, it was worth it!) Red and 1989 were EPIC, still are, many heartbreaks and many adventures made us relate so so much to Taylor’s songs. Andy was in her first year of university when Red came out, and oh wow … if I could tell you about all the stories and how I related to those songs. And Luisa was a senior in high school, and well … that first love, you feel like that pain is gonna be there forever, but thank you Taylor for making it bearable, and also making us feel like we can be in love again. During Red we had the chance to buy PIT tickets! I remember getting an email of Taylor Nation or Taylor Connect about fans getting the chance to buy those tickets and I begged my parents for the tickets, and oh wow … seeing Taylor from the PIT, life changing experience. She grabbed Andy’s hand during Love Story and I swear it was like super long! (I’ve seen the video and its like 2 seconds) but I’m sure we had a connection hahaha
During the 1989 era, it was like Taylor knew how to blow our minds over and over again each CD she recorded it was even better and exceeded our expectations! Blank Space wow! Even my non swiftie friends were OBSESSED with the song! I was super proud of that cause I felt like I was taking them to the fandom side. We went to her concert in San Diego and Luisa went with a friend of hers and Andy went ... alone hahaha. Andy was studying abroad that year so when I came back my friends had plans and well I ended up going alone BUT let me tell you it was an EXPERIENCE, I’ve never been to a concert alone and wow I did feel like it was more special. I remember the surprise song was Fearless and I cried but those happy tears because I remember not being able to see her during that tour and how special that song is, and I may or may not have shed a tear writing this paragraph. We ended up seeing each other during this concert and being together during Shawn Mendes and Vance Joy’s set.
Now let’s talk about Reputation! We went to opening night in Glendale; we drove 4 hours to be there! At the beginning when we bought the tickets I wasn’t aware what opening night meant until I got there and realized I was seeing all of this BEFORE anyone else, well besides the other 59,157 people who attended (yes, I searched on Wikipedia for the exact number). She BLEW our minds like … it was BEAUTIFUL, like nothing we’ve ever experienced before! Honestly most parts of the concert are blurry because of so much excitement. We drove back next day and it was over … after months of waiting it was over so quick. But things changed next week when we decided to buy tickets to night 2 in Pasadena and again sorry mom and dad but I still think IT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER. We enjoyed this concert SO MUCH we didn’t even had our phones out for most of the concert, we decided we were gonna enjoy it and dance like crazy! And I think the people besides us thought we were on something cause the girl switched places with her dad so she wouldn’t be next to us hahahaha, but we didn’t care because we danced and sang like it was the last night ever! We honestly don’t understand how people can be so calm and serious at concerts!
Months passed after our concerts and that’s when we decided to start our own Taylor inspired Instagram and Tumblr, we’ve followed so many and we thought it would be cool to have our own. We have met so many lovely Swifties, everyone with a different and unique story about how Taylor changed their lives and how they have met people through her (just like us!). Taylor brought to our lives a really special friendship that after 11 years we are still going strong! Right now we’re 24 and we really hope one day we can thank Taylor personally what she has done for us.
Thank you so much if you stayed and read all of this, I’m sorry we just got a bit inspired hahaha. It would be so nice and we will appreciate it if you could tag @taylorswift or @taylornation so they can see how much she has impacted our lives.

Don’t Be Your Worst Enemy: Self-Inflicted Wounds Are The Worst
A self-inflicted wound is so sad. Unlike financial blindspots, where you can plead ignorance for your actions, a self-inflicted wound is a willful and always a harmful action that puts you in a worse off situation than before.
As the markets tumble, it’s worth highlighting some self-inflicted wounds that could have prevented this fall. We’ll also learn about other common self-inflicted wounds that may derail one’s journey to financial independence.
Remember, the easiest way to never saying, “if I knew then what I know now,” is to simply listen to people who’ve been there before.
Examples Of Self-Inflicted Wounds
* Jerome Powell, telegraphing more rate hikes in 2019. Despite the S&P 500 already correcting 12%+ from its highs in 2018, Jerome decided to raise rates again on Dec 19, 2018, and telegraph another two rate hikes in 2019. Although the market was expecting the Dec 19 rate hike, it had lowered its expectations for any further rate hikes in 2019 to less than 25%. As a result, broader markets went from +1.5% to down ~2% that day, further deepening the sell-off.
Jerome could have taken a wait and see approach to help restore some investor confidence by pausing in December or providing more dovish language for 2019. Alas, he decided to keep stubbornly moving forward in spite the carnage and the expected carnage. Due to pride and a $100M+ net worth, he feared being viewed as a puppet to Trump. Now, he will be viewed as one of the most reviled men in the world as millions of investors suffer financial loss. He has hurt his reputation, his family’s reputation, and lost friends in the remaining years of his life. Do you really think his rich friends at the country club are going to give him the time of day next time he pops in for an Arnold Palmer? Of course not.
If the downturn worsens, corporations will be forced to stop hiring and start firing. It’s one thing to lose money in your investment portfolios. It’s another thing to lose money and also lose your job. The livelihoods of millions of people are at stake from Jerome’s refusal to simply take a pause and see what the next quarter’s economic data reveals.
It doesn’t matter whether you think what JP did was right or wrong. The end result was a collapse in the financial markets in the ensuing days. If you had any stocks, you lost big.
* Companies that completely change their business model overnight. Zillow is one of the biggest tech disappointments because it could have revolutionized the way we buy and sell homes by significantly lowering transactions costs. But 14 years after its founding in 2004, real estate commissions are still around 5%, while the internet has compressed downward every other fee known to man.
The reason why real estate commissions are still so high, despite Zillow and the internet, is because the real estate industry has a powerful lobby group, and Zillow’s main advertising revenue comes from real estate agents who advertise their services or listings on Zillow. Therefore, Zillow isn’t willing to hurt their customers’ bottom lines while also trying to take their money.
You better believe that if transaction costs dropped down to a fixed rate or a lower commission percentage average, many more properties would sell. Yet, the industry stubbornly holds on for dear life, thereby screwing itself in the process as fewer transactions occur.
But the real shocker about Zillow is its decision to get into the home flipping business of buying and selling homes. They’ve also bought a mortgage lending business at what appears to be a late stage in the real estate cycle. Their ultimate goal is to use their data to try and lowball some desperate seller who has imperfect information and sell their house to another sucker with imperfect information for a nice profit.
What made Zillow interesting as an investment was its asset-light business model. However, due to what I imagine is FOMO caused by a private company called Opendoor, which raised lots of money to get into the home flipping business, Zillow has decided to follow suit this year.
Who was the genius at Zillow who decided that after a 60% – 100% rise in property prices in just six years, that now is the time to use the company’s balance sheet to buy and sell expensive assets? Going from an asset-light business to an asset-heavy business has destroyed the company’s valuation. It’s now Redfin’s turn to shine.
* Bad politics. We know that most politicians on both sides are egomaniacs who are primarily focused on obtaining and maintaining power for themselves. There are countless examples of political corruption that occur every year in every country at the expense of the people they are supposed to represent. It is truly fascinating how millions of people continue to get duped by such people.
The CEO of FedEx, which reported disappointing results and slashed 2019 earnings and revenue guidance summed bad politics up perfectly,
“This is very, very important, and I’ll just conclude by saying most of the issues that we’re dealing with today are induced by bad political choices, I mean, making a bad decision about a new tax, creating a tremendously difficult situation with Brexit, the immigration crisis in Germany, the mercantilism and state-owned enterprise initiatives in China, the tariffs that the United States put in unilaterally. So you just go down the list, and they’re all things that have created macroeconomic slowdowns.”
* Not properly managing your burn. Although the startup failure rate is high, due to inexperience and irrational confidence in their product and market opportunity, a large reason for their failures is the inability to properly manage their monthly burn (expenses).
For example, during a podcast interview, the founder of a food delivery startup called Bento admitted he did not realize he spent $70,000 more than expected (30% – 40% more) one month. As a business owner, I find that very hard to imagine.
Another example is a virtual assistant company, whose CEO fired 400 of its employee via e-mail overnight after “suddenly” discovering the company had run out of money. The CEO mentioned there had been no finance guy keeping an eye out on the numbers until it was too late.
Running a new business is extremely difficult, no doubt. I salute all those who’ve had the guts to try. It’s imperative that all startups and all businesses frankly, focus more on profitability, and less on growth at any price as the economy slows.

* Giving up on the cusp of success. I cannot believe how many people give up before the going gets good. I’m referring to the constant job hopping after just one or two years because things aren’t just perfect. I’m talking about quitting the side hustle after 10 months because it’s not generating enough money for your liking. The longer you last, the more lucky breaks you will have!
There is no closer correlation between effort and reward than in the blogging world. This correlation is one of the main reasons why blogging is one of today’s best businesses. One of the main reasons why people hate their jobs is because they feel that no matter how hard they try, they’ll never get ahead. With blogging, the more you write, the greater your traffic.
No matter how much revenue I generated for my previous firm, it was never enough because I had to subsidize money-losing businesses. I understood the importance of being a team player, but after 13 years, I figured I should strike it out on my own instead of staying and complaining.
Despite having such a tight correlation in the blogging world, so many people quit before a year is up. But it takes 6 – 24 months to be found by the community and by search engines. Once you get through that initial cavern of silence, things start getting better and better due to increased organic traffic and a growing audience.
It’s like not spending a small fortune to watch a movie at the theatre when it first comes out. Once you patiently get through the initial hype, you’ll have a new movie to watch on DVD or streaming practically every week at a low fixed cost.
Why give up when you can keep on going?
* Quitting instead of getting laid off. A baby panda dies in the forest every time someone quits his or her job. I have seen countless examples of people who have quit their jobs only to sorely regret their decision because their colleagues who didn’t quit got laid off with a nice severance package months or sometimes days later.
Even worse than quitting your job without a severance is quitting your job without a severance, plus having little money and nothing else lined up. The master severance negotiator is able to successfully negotiate a severance, take time off, and have a new job ready to go before his or her severance runs out.
In a downturn, the ability to find another job at a salary you want will become more difficult. Therefore, it is imperative that you leave with as long a financial runway as possible.
* Thinking you just can’t lose. Whenever you think you just can’t lose is usually the time when you lose the most. My personal example is buying a Lake Tahoe vacation property in 2007 the year after earning the most I had ever made in my life. I was second-year VP and felt like the sky was the limit for my career. Of course, the financial crisis happened and I ended up losing 100% of my 20% downpayment and then some because the condo declined in value by over 40%.
Ever since that fateful misstep, I’ve had to do a lot of self-reflection before taking more risk outside my normal parameters. I suggest you give yourself a gut check as well whenever you are feeling extremely swell.
* Harassing someone in the workplace. If you are discovered harassing someone in the workplace or worse, especially if you are more powerful, your reputation will be destroyed in a nanosecond. It doesn’t matter how much good you provided to the world over the decades, you will be tarnished for life.
There is no coming back for men like Charlie Rose, Matt Lauer, and Les Moonves. There is definitely no coming back for guys like Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby. I am sure they would donate all their fame and fortune to get back their reputations. Even more devastating than their lost reputations is the dishonor their actions inflicted upon their respective families.
* Social media time sinkhole. Think twice, speak once. But for some reason, folks over social media continue to speak twice and not think at all! Spewing incredible nonsense on social media has a great way of coming back to haunt you. We are living in a hypersensitive world. There’s no upside in offending anyone anymore. Even comedians, whose goal is to find humor in the offensive, are getting thrashed.
Keep your time spent on social media to a minimum. Besides, Facebook is reading and sending all your private messages to other companies in order to sell you more ads anyway. So why bother?
* Being an insufferable a-hole. Sooner or later, all of us will need a helping hand. But if you’ve treated people poorly in the past or have always decided to take, take, take before ever giving, nobody will come to your rescue.
Adopt the good habit of giving as much as possible without any expectations. Treat your staff as well as you would treat your most prized customer. Fight to pay for the bill. Do your best to let go of any jealous or hate you have for someone else. It’ll only end up eating you up inside.
People will never forget your act of kindness and will go out of their way to return the favor one day.

This Week, Let’s Visit The Illustrious Holly Golightly And Grab Some Breakfast At Tiffany’s!
Paramount Pictures
Holly Golightly: I’ll tell you one thing, Fred, darling… I’d marry you for your money in a minute. Would you marry me for my money? Paul Varjak: In a minute. Holly: I guess it’s pretty lucky neither of us is rich, huh? Paul: … Yeah.
Based on the novel of the same name by Truman Capote, Breakfast At Tiffany’s follows the journey of Holly Golightly portrayed by the captivatingly brilliant Audrey Hepburn. We are introduced to this vision in black as she scarfs down on a croissant while looking lovingly at a window belonging to Tiffany & Co. You know, a typical Monday morning for many of us. Breakfast At Tiffany‘s also stars a beautifully tanned George Peppard, an incredibly racist performance by Mickey Rooney and is directed by the iconic Blake Edwards (Victor/Victoria, The Pink Panther)
Viewing This In The Theatres Is An Experience Like No Other
Tiffany’s is one of my favourite movies of all time and I was lucky enough to view it tonight at the VIP Cineplex theatre in Toronto. For those unfamiliar, the VIP theatres are 19+ and feature reclining seats, in-seat service, and they have basically been the only way I watch movies at the theatres now. They’ve spoiled me, really.
Hearing that incredible Henry Mancini score set against the backdrop of 1960s New York on a movie theatre screen while chomping down on an unhealthy brownie that was brought to me is fan… tastic! (This is also not a paid promotion… I just really like their VIP theatres)
And for those confused by my strange spelling, Canadians spell “theater” as “theatre.” Why? No idea.
Audrey Hepburn As Ms. Golightly Is Simply A Dream
Audrey Hepburn’s portrayal of this woman who harbours deep secrets and has lived through her whole existence by placing various facades on whomever she encounters could have easily come across as a vapid and selfish woman by any actress not of her calibre. Hepburn’s ability to step into a room and take it over completely while also managing to have that small-town naive look in her eyes is simply mesmerizing. I am genuinely in awe throughout the film at her sheer magnitude of a presence on screen. She receives first billing and undoubtedly owns it.
Hepburn and Peppard work fantastically well together, I enjoyed every single moment these two were on screen because I felt the adoration each respective character had for the other. The way the story progressed added another layer to their relationship and understanding of each other, particularly in Paul’s (Peppard) growing love for Holly. Since Hepburn’s performance and grasp of her character is executed so well, you want to see her succeed and thrive in her love life regardless of her belief that she needs to be wealthy in order to achieve that. Every character works to serve Holly’s story and ultimately, I love the film for that because of how much I am drawn to Holly Golightly.
Really Though… That Mickey Rooney Was All Kinds Of Crazy
With the undying love I will forever have for this movie, that performance by Mickey Rooney as Mr. Yunioshi will always make me laugh at the sheer absurdity of it. It is terribly insensitive and I’m certain any audience member today watching for the first time will understand just how different the times were… Not to excuse the blatant racism of the character, you just can’t help but laugh at the terribleness of it when a grown man in shitty makeup is shouting, “Miss-a Gorightry!” In the words of Clay Davis, sheeeeeeeeit.
Henry Mancini’s Score And Blake Edwards’ Direction Is To Die For
Mancini’s Moon River is utilized throughout the film for a number of scenes and every time I hear those first few chords, I melt. Edwards’ sequences are paired perfectly with Mancini’s score. That iconic opening scene is regarded as a classic because of its ability to express so much with not a single word of dialogue uttered in it.
We hear the opening chords to Moon River set against the sequence of a beautiful woman in black dressed to the nines, adoring the window display of one of the most affluent establishments on Earth. The hugely pronounced font displaying all those involved plus a mention of “Cat” in the character list! This movie has me hooked already and it’s only a minute in!

Favourite Scene!
So as you can tell from this entire piece, I love Breakfast At Tiffany’s and since it had been awhile since I last saw it, watching it in the theatre reminded me of all the fun this film has and the countless sequences that made me laugh aloud.
It is terribly difficult, darling to narrow it down to just one scene but since that is the point of this specific segment, I will mention the Stripper Dance scene wherein a drunk Holly and relatively distracted Paul visit a bar that I guess doubles as a strip show?
Bye Bye, Doc Golightly. The scene happened right after Holly said goodbye to Doc and declared to Paul to not take her home until she is well and drunk and well… Thankfully Paul is a man of his word.
Holly And Paul Discuss The Talents Of The Dancer. Nothing says relationship bonding like taking your prospective partner to a strip show and debating the merits of whether the woman stripping on stage is either “deeply and importantly” talented or “amusingly and superficially” talented… Not to mention HOW GREAT IS IT SEEING AUDREY HEPBURN AND GEORGE PEPPARD JUST CHILLING, WATCHING A WOMAN STRIP DANCE?!
My Favourite Line Of The Entire Film: “… Gracious! Do you think she’s handsomely paid?”

When Did I First Feel The Need To Watch Breakfast At Tiffany’s?
Fun Fact! For those interested, I used to be a huge Gossip Girl fan back when it aired in 2007 (TEN YEARS AGO?!) and there is a Tiffany’s sequence that occurred in the first season that I remember so vividly because I used to watch that fucking show incessantly. I even bought the Season 1 DVD that is… Somewhere…
Anyway, there is a sequence in Season 1, Episode 14 where Blair (Leighton Meester) is in her Holly Golightly-garb set at the conclusion of the film, looking for “Cat.” I don’t know why I liked it so much, I think it was because the thought of naming one’s cat “Cat” was just so appealing to me. After that episode, I decided “hey, maybe I should watch this movie with Audrey Hepburn because Gossip Girl referenced it… I mean, it must be good if they referenced it, right?” I always knew of the film since I was slowly getting into old Hollywood films but never took the time out to watch since we all know how busy seventh graders are.
Long winded story short, it is thanks to that sequence from the first season of Gossip Girl that got me off my butt and watching this Hepburn classic. Thanks, Jenny BLAIR!
