@quiddie’s use of color and symbolism for Suvi is fantastic. Not only does she wear pretty much exclusively citadel colors (blue) despite her favorite color being red, but her blue hair is a result of flying too close to the sun as a child… getting too excited about the promise of wizardly power in the erith depository, and when she tried to channel it through herself, it nearly killed her, and (I assume) left her with permanently white hair, so that she now dyes it blue. She was so enamored with wonders of the citadel that she gave up a part of herself to become a part of it. It has molded her in ways that she does not fully understand, and she must put parts of herself aside to allow that.

I’m feeling a little emotional about the Sky having to be blue all the time, but secretly liking red better.

Hi! I’m glad someone from Cymru educated you about the word hiraeth. I would discourage you from naming your future child that though 😅. The word is ingrained for Cyrmy, and naming your child something with so much grief& generational pain behind it seems ignorant (I don’t know what other word to use, I promise I’m not trying to be mean by saying ignorant!)

& im not asking you to change your username obviously! That would be way too much unneeded work and people already know you by “hira”. Obviously people are going to feel differently, but I just wanted to say that naming a child that would be devastating when there’s a heap of names that have beauty to their meaning. There’s no beauty in hiraeth.

If you like the name Aerith for a future child though, that’s similar to pronunciation and spelling😅! Aerith is an invented name meant to represent the Earth or “flower like” as it was made for the protagonist of Final Fantasy 7! Derived from the name Erith(a) which means flower!

(1) the last few days were a bit of a whirlwind (other than my finals) I watched the video you sent and I kind of ended up reading a lot more about the topic, yknow? and don't worry!! I get what you mean, no offense taken!

(2) anyway, I've thought about it for a while!! and although im super grateful that you'd let me continue to use hiraeth-rawr, it just didn't feel right with me after all that research! It's a word with so much meaning, I love my former username and im grateful for how far it's brought me on tumblr, but i believe it shouldn't belong to me any further :)

(3) BASICALLY, IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO RESPOND BECAUSE I WANTED TO RIGHT ALL OF MY LINKS AND TAGS istg there's so many, I don't think I'm finished editing it all yet 😭😂😂 why can't tumblr automatically switch it all too

(4) my new username, Hiraya, is an ancient filo word that can mean many things, but it's a deeper form of "sana" (which means hopefully). In my dialect, hiraya is closer to wishing, or I wish what you want comes to happen. It's a word no longer used after getting colonized, much like what hiraeth implied for your people.

Thank you for pointing this out to me, not only did I learn about another's history, but I also got to change my username to something more fitting of my background!

plus, people can still call me Hira! 😋💗

p.s. wow im really bad at baby names (._. ) this is why no one lets me name their pets

So my friends and I are doing a Danganronpa RP, as I stated before, and WOW am I HYPE. I just finished all of their sprites!!!

Ayumi Fujino, Ultimate Influencer! With a third of the world’s population following her, “Yumi-Chan” is sweeping the Earth by force!

Chiaki Maki, Ultimate Poet! An incredible rhymer and a philosophical mind, don’t underestimate them by their size alone!

Chie Mao, Ultimate Novelist - Fiction! Though she may not have her whole heart in her Ultimate, there’s no doubt she’s good at it.

Goro Watanabe, Ultimate Skater! Absolutely the one Avril Lavigne meant in her song. What do you mean, “it’s 2021″?

And speaking of fashion - Silvano Mascia, transfer student, and the Ultimate Model! Finicky and fancy, Silvano is quite the diva.

Tadashi Nobuo, Ultimate Forensic Scientist! Serious and hardworking, he seems pretty no-nonsense. What’s behind those glasses, I wonder?

Yasha Kurosawa, Ultimate Rebel Leader! Don’t tell him what to do, unless you want the opposite! Hard-headed and brash, Yasha may seem like a tough guy, but he really just wants the best for others. Even if he thinks that’s violent rebellion.

And finally, our rival: Tsuki Aya, the Ultimate Occult Researcher! Somewhat whimsical and overdramatic, she has a serious side that no one can ignore. Will Noriko find herself trapped in this little witch’s spells?

Phew!!! 16 students and I am on the way to making them sprite sheets! How exciting!~
