It's weird. I like fictional cult leader types, but Angie makes me uncomfortable. It's likely because of her writing and how it's culturally offensive, but I feel self conscious because everyone else seems to be able to put that aside and enjoy the character but I've never been able to, and I've tried to multiple times. I don't know, I'm just seeing her a lot because it's the character's birthday and I feel like it just sucks I can't see or experience the character in a positive way like so many others can.

It feels wrong because she's the only darker skinned girl in the v3 class #and that's what they did with her. The fact she's exoticized and uses “atua” which is a real religious figure...#I know others can look past it but something about just. that being a prominent part of her character...#it irks me I guess.#Something about also being a minority and seeing media show my culture in an exoticized manner probably plays into it.#I think a heavy rewrite would be required for me to be comfortable with Angie but would that be a different character at that point? Idk.#Like latino people. our native people were accused of human sacrifice and blood rituals.#and now on my home island they're all dead. their descendants blood mixed with that of the colonizer.#Maybe Angie's character brings some of those usually unspoken issues to the surface and that's why I don't feel comfortable with her.#Maybe she reminds me of the stereotypes put on my culture and many others. And of course as a white latino I feel some guilt despite #never having a role in anything from the past.#A lot to think about and now is not the time. I should be doing my ASL.#tw colonialism
