I tend not to look back with regret or wish to do things differently; webcomics are like sharks in that if they stop moving forward they drown. But for Wires Crossed specifically, if for some reason I got to have another crack at it, there is one big change I'd make at the start. I would have Mia apply for a job at the cafe instead of stealing the register.
There's a few reasons for this. The most obvious is that it gives me space to develop the characters and world building more organically. When I started the comic I wasn't 100% sure where the story was headed. I thought I was going to have more time for this stuff, but the plot picked up faster than I expected. It also would have let me set up the themes for the story better. Mia would have worked at the cafe for a couple of weeks, long enough for her to learn all the different tasks she'd be expected to do, long enough to finally earn her first proper paycheck.
Then she'd steal the register.

bunch of Phantasy AU doodles n wip from earlier this year
Basically I just found out this year that ball-jointed dolls actually have strings in them and not just... magically attached by the ball joints themselves?
And 31 in this AU is a ball jointed doll that were made out of Danny's energy so here we are :3c
I've been watching a lot of doll customization since earlier this year and found out from dollightful's video that no they are all connected by elastic strings inside so that's where the idea came from
...i was looking on google to find a good example to put here and clearly I'm not exactly paying attention to how the main body strings are actually.. pinned to?
the video I've been watching the most is dollightful n moonlight jewel and they have their bjd usually only to the bottom of the doll head instead of all the way to the top on the skull pin like the diagram above
Which is why 31 has his strings all connected to the 'heart' in the middle instead of the head kasjdnkasjnd
But yeah uhhh specifics aside...

Those ball jointed dolls made me think of 31, and then thinking about the clones in Phantasy AU and like.. the logistic of it
for 31, the idea is that during the circus gothica arc for this AU, Danny actually got kidnapped all the whole way into another universe/plane in which he met Valeska (Enn's oc) who unalive what his face the circus leader n break Danny's hypnosis
and now that Danny is essentially stuck in a whole other plane/realm/or sth he just following Valeska hoping she'll help him find his way back.
In one such trip, Danny got kidnapped (again) by another group/cult who wanted to use his power/energy as a gate keeper to the ghost zone to make their own gate keeper so they can open portals to ghost zones and maybe other realms too
31 is part of the experiments. He's a doll made with part of Danny's energy as his core.
And then it's.. uhh.. sth sth Valeska finally found out where they kept Danny and devour everyone there safe from Danny n 31 who helped him escape so now the three of them travel together~
The last pict is me thinking about clones and kingdom hearts :tm: so
dramatic about Danny being the soul separated from the main body and 31 a clone made from part of the soul too and all that
Not sure where I'm going with that but it do sound cool
And there's also Danielle but I'm not exactly sure.. how she would fit in? but it would be interesting if she was made from Danny's body somehow
so 31 made from part of teh soul and Dani from part of the body sounds poetic somehow

#still trying to figure out snouts#shockingly enough I never really drew anthro characters before i found ralsei#see i've actually done quite a lot of larger drawings in my figure drawing class#around 10-12#but they're all drawings of real people and half of them are unclothed#and i have no interest in posting either of those things here#but just like last semester#the things i'm learning in that class are popping up in my personal drawings#so in a way i'm still kinda sharing a bit of what i've learned this semester? sort of??#i'm gonna be so damn sad when i don't have this professor anymore#he takes the stress out of model drawing so that we can focus on actually improving instead of just fighting for our grades#and it's working so well for pretty much everyone in the class#i will still likely not be doing any actual drawings any time soon#but if i went any longer without drawing for myself?#i think i was gonna combust#this was actually cathartic i am in a much better mood now#cats#kris#susie#ralsei#deltarune#doodles#okay tag wall finished now i will scroll because i have missed quite a lot lately

(The lady with the blue hair was a powerful witch who ruled over most of the nether realm, who had the place-holder name of Morgana, but I dropped her character! I guess she kind of just turned into Malice, who also is a super powerful lady, she's just a lot more terrifying :') )

Once again I am fueled by comments from my thesis supervisor and feel like I can actually do this thing hell YEAAAAHHHH
I CAN WRITE THIS THING!!! I CAN DO IT!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHH
#imagine a drawing of me going all feral that's me rn#I get so hyped every time I meet him even though all his comments are like “this is okay” and “what did you mean by this”--#then followed up by discussions and improvement suggestions and I get so excited about writing it all suddenly#like!!! what is this!!!!#it's probably because I get to actually talk about my thesis and in detail with someone who understands it? probably?#most likely now that I think about it. I don't have a lot of friends who study the same thing so I can't talk about these things in depth#(but I'm also very happy to have those friends who don't understand but listen to my ramblings about it <3 )#p#and also also like. I am about 45 pages into this thing. I am so far. I have wanted to just drop it for the past month or so but!! I'm so--#--far!!! holy shit!!! that's amazing my guy!!! you're doing well!! just need the clean up and some clearer explanations and that's it#it's not going to be two more years of this it's going te 6 months MAX#most likely 4 months of work with 1-2 months after for the grading and checking process when i don't have to do shit#I only have this thesis; one essay that is 75% done; and one spanish course I'm taking end I'm done!!!! I will cry when that happens!!

Lol#Honestly tho I just jkdflsafd I know she's designed exactly to my own tastes by design but her design balance! I love her!#Okay enough gushing for now lol (Never! Her stripes and glasses and four eyes and arms <3 <3)#There are actually Some things that I feel could use improvement lol - her legs being a standout#I wasn't very careful with her joints in some of my early doodles of her - I can't tell if she has two or three joints in her legs#Knee and ankle definitely but it almost looks like there's another joint in some of her early doodles! It's a bit hard to parse#She's very cute no matter what I think the extra joint Can look cool I'm just not sure what to do with it :0#I like her anatomy to be a bit unique but how bend what bend?? I've never tried making a skeletal deconstruction of her design haha#Might be fun :) Weird skull - elbows - legs hehe#I still haven't drawn what her second set of eyes would look like it's a mystery to me as well#Silly stretchy in the middle there lol - stretching is a sign of affection! Haha#And a couple of the Queens since they appeared in one of her previous sets but have Actually been designed now!#Queen Charlotte has had the most noticeable design whatevers - additions and changes lol#She wears her hair in a bun in the EPAU :) It's harder to change her wife's look what with her having short hair to start haha#They're both a bit less smiley tho ouò It's a little more serious ♪#Ending off and another design element that I'm not fully satisfied with around Spider Bites - her wings :P#I do like the idea of them being less stable than either individual Charm but completely disconnected from her body? Hmmm#Dunno dunno. Wanna give it a bit more thought and take another crack at it#She looks pleased tho hehe ♥ Very powerful! Very strong and capable! Self-confident! Love her ♪

hey!! artist friends!! i'd really like to dive into trying to improve my art, particularly when it comes to drawing things that aren't just direct redraws of screenshots.
i especially need help with things like drawing complex poses, side profiles, perspective etc. but i also need help with figuring out shading / lighting because i've procrastinated on learning how that works for way too long lol.
( any drawings of mine that are well-shaded are screenshot redraws, so i had a direct ref for where to put the shadows )
if anyone can direct me to any (preferably free) resources for any of these things, or give me tips that worked for you, please let me know!! you can reblog / reply to this post or send me an ask.

Alh*itham & K*veh relationship analysis (spoilers below)
I said before that Alh*itham holds a level of "resentment" for K*veh, but what I really meant was "contempt." It's the contempt you feel when you're pushed past the point of sympathy and pity. You see someone you care about that's in a bad state, but the thing is that they're ALWAYS in a bad state due to nobody's fault but their own. They go from pitying to pathetic and pitiful.
This line isn't because Alh*itham literally refuses to do good deeds. It's because giving into K*veh's nagging would only serve to enable his guilty conscience. K*veh's guilt is what pushes him to clean and do things. One would think that helping K*veh would help ease his guilt and ease his stress, but all that does is put a bandaid on a gaping wound. What K*veh needs to learn is simply to stop. Learn he doesn't need to clean. He doesn't need to do the errands. He doesn't need to be "good." He doesn't need to give. He doesn't need to DO. He can just BE and that's okay.
But K*veh doesn't learn. He doesn't catch the hint. He doesn't change. Then the thought comes, "Why should I care about someone that doesn't want to get better?" And the next thought, "But unfortunately I DO care, so this whole situation irritates me even more." Alh*itham can ignore K*veh for the most part, but the times he gets too much, Alh*itham's irritation and contempt begins to seep in and he gets more biting.
It confuses me why people pair these two together because they are not what the other person needs. K*veh needs care. He needs love. He needs reassurance. Alh*itham needs independence. He needs low maintenance. He needs stability. As of right now, they only make the other worse.
