Ora pro me, I’ve been yielding to temptations of complacency and sloth and desperately need to go to confession.
#I need to be clear: when Cradle Catholics seem hesitant about converts#it’s not because we doubt their fervor or that God’s grace is active in their lives#it’s because we know that the faith journey is HARD.#it’s LONG.#And a lot of the time it’s drudgery.#Desolation isn’t just common‚ it’s inevitable.#Being a practicing Catholic is HARD (and a lot of the time the hardest part is other Catholics)#which isn’t to say that there isn’t also great consolation and greater joy#but a lot of us are hanging on by the thread of His robe#people draw a lot of comfort from ‘I believe: help my unbelief’#but for me it’s ‘Lord‚ to whom could we go? You have the words of eternal life.’#When I was a child I asked Mary to intercede for me that I would never doubt again: and I haven’t.#but what I’ve been learning ever since is that being intellectually convinced isn’t enough#not everyone who says ‘Lord‚ Lord’ will enter the gates of heaven and not everyone who knows Jesus will be known by Him#long story short everything worthwhile is hard.
