Should My Living-room Furniture Match?
Select Mix Repeat
For this, you will certainly need to create an intelligent as well as natural website traffic flow. If you are redesigning your current living room, start seeing exactly how your member of the family move around the room. However, choosing matched furniture is not the only method to achieve this result, as it can produce counterproductive impacts.
It is your own, and also you must be able to trust your own reasoning, and also your intuition on what feels right to you. Areas take advantage of the added structure, pattern and color from other like things. When additional patterns as well as shades are generated, a rooms gains deepness and also measurement. Attempt to prevent 2 sofas with the same color and pattern, instead have 2 working with patterns, or one with a pattern and one that's strong. If you do opt for strong colored couches, such as white, add some throw pillows, blankets as well as rugs to develop an opulent taste.
My partner wants the new furniture in a suedette material instead of leather yet still to be a dark brownish to tie in with what we currently have, nonetheless I'm not so certain.
Neutral shades like whites, blacks, browns, grey, cream color, etc, and light patterns can be sure things too.
I think that, if you are mosting likely to make use of 2 sofas, two love seats, or among each with each other - that is, facing each various other or in an L - after that it is usually best if they match.
Normally, we spend our most satisfying time with individuals we like. In many families, the living room setting functions as the primary location for time with each other. Fabric & Leather Workroom See our fabrics as well as leathers.
Having a details https://app.gumroad.com/oranceonek/p/tips-to-mix-as-well-as-match-dining-room-chairs-effectively color design is a great way to make sure that every little thing will collaborate nicely in the end. An excellent means to begin is by selecting numerous soft shades as well as a couple of brighter shades for your accent pieces. To complement the various other furniture, we can put a plant on one side of the sofa. Ultimately, place a medium-sized table in the center of the rug. The couches can be matched better by placing accent chairs around them.
Should My Living-room Furnishings Match?
Up up until this past year, acquiring furnishings collections to outfit your living-room as well as bedroom has been a way to produce a cohesive area. Matching furniture was very easy and risk-free, however sadly, it could likewise quickly end up being uninteresting. When you recognize the feeling that you intend to develop in a room, it's ideal to make certain that all pieces fit this feel. For example, regardless of the design, official items have a tendency to blend best with various other formal pieces, laid-back with casual, and more. So for example, Arts as well as Crafts, which has a more basic layout, will mix better with modern or Shaker style furniture, which likewise often tend to have an extra simple design.
Select Mix Repeat
Tumblr media
To follow this scheme you select a main shade as your base. Usually it can be your favored shade or a shade that would look good in your living-room. If the concept of mixing furnishings seems a little overwhelming, bear in mind that you don't need to mismatch every piece of furniture in order to develop a fascinating interior. On the whole I assume it is better if upholstered chairs not match a sofa or love seat, although it might be preferable for two chairs to match each other. An exemption to this is in a small area where there will certainly be just one upholstered chair.

Gimme 25-35 of those questions bb. Those look fun
25: what’s your dream aesthetic?
Oh gosh...it depends for what??
On the one hand I love dark colors, especially dark purple, and I love spacey and witchy aesthetics, so like.... a Classy version of something like that as a personal aesthetic. Clean lines, black and purple with maybe some white or silver accents as contrast.
But then...in a twist that makes no sense...I also like bright, well lit spaces with softer aesthetics? NOT pastels or florals. More like...idk...like, a room with lots of natural light, plants lining the windows, a soft rug & soft couches with cute pillows, lots of little knick-knacks, no cohesive theme but well organized. That's what my room/home would be like ideally.
26: tea or coffee?
COFFEEEE
27: favorite boardgame?
Right now I've been obsessed with Settlers of Catan, someone introduced me to it last year and now I want to play more, but rarely am around people to play with
28: have you ever used tarot cards?
Friends have done practice tarot readings on me, but I've never had a professional reading and I've never used them myself!
29: what fictional character would you bring to life?
I don't know if i'd want to subject a character to this world...maybe a Squirtle, because it'd just be cool to have a Squirtle.
30: telekinesis or telepathy?
Telekinesis bc I am laaazy
31: real or fake plants?
Real! But I suck at keeping them alive
32: do you have a full length mirror?
UHHH yes! lol I had to look.
33: what’s something that no one on tumblr knows about you?
If I told then they'd....know it? Thus making the answer untrue. A paradox.
34: what’s something that no one outside of tumblr knows?
That I have a whump blog :D
35: dream url?
I have never thought about this actually! maybe something silly and one word like 'boop'
Thank you again <3

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Decorating your house is not just reserved for holidays, especially in my home. Summer is here, and I’m turning my home into an oasis! I’m decorating my home to make me feel like I’m on vacation. I’m creating a relaxing and serene space that is also fun. These adjustments make a big difference and will help you make the most of summer!
1. Outdoor Rugs
First and foremost, I’m switching out my outdoor rugs for my favorite bright, vibrant ones from my very own Outdoor Rug Collection! These rugs are beautiful for both inside and outside, they're stain-proof, and come in a variety of summery colors and designs. If you don’t already have an outdoor rug, summer is the perfect time to make that purchase! Two of my favorite rugs for my outdoor space are Costa Rica in Rust and Cape Town in Yellow. I’ve used Costa Rica as a cute patio cover for underneath my grill, and Cape Town to complete my relaxation lounge space. I’m obsessed with them!
2. Plants
Plants are always an amazing addition to brighten and add a natural touch to any space. I love these beautiful arrangements by T & C Floral Company! For the summertime I’ve scattered their succulent arrangements and pink peony bouquets around my house. I believe having plants in an indoor area radiate serenity and make my home feel even more like summer. For 15% off at checkout use code JILLZ!
I've also been very into gardening recently. Being outside is a stress-reliever, and it’s said that taking care of plants is good for the soul. I agree 100%! Recently I’ve been working hard on my vegetable garden at my Boca home. If you’ve been gardening too recently, message me pics on Instagram! I’d love to see your photos and share inspiration.
3. Candles
Candles are essential in setting a specific vibe in your home. I recently added these amazing Thompson Ferrier Candles to my website! The scents travel so well throughout the home, and the designs are unmatched. They add a touch of beauty to any space!
4. Outdoor String Lights
String lights are so cute for nighttime barbecues, bonfires, parties and everything in between. They're a perfect finishing touch for any outdoor space to brighten up the area and make it aesthetically pleasing. Whether you’re entertaining guests or having a quiet summer night with family. I love these large bulb lights because the design gives my outdoor space that rustic, beach house look that I love!

These vintage style seashell hooks may be one of my favorite things on the list. Little details like this when decorating for summer make the biggest difference to me! Bedroom Decor: Decorating With Color, Pattern, Texture, and Shine
Tumblr media
A year ago, I had my suspicions that my bedroom decor needed... well, something. I mean, I was happy with it! I had the bed of my childhood dreams, a reading nook with bean bags that my dog loved to sleep in, and pillows. Lots and lots of pillows.
But I felt at a loss because it didn't look as cohesive as I wanted it to be. Something was missing. Something I couldn't quite put my finger on.
My bedroom was supposed to be a peaceful sanctuary, but it felt sort of sterile and forgotten.
(Which is totally weird, because most of the stuff in it is new).
My bedroom felt sort of like this:
Tumblr media
I'm sure if this was a richer person, maybe they wouldn't have hesitated and had their interior decorator on speed dial.
And although hiring professionals are a great way to spice things up a little, numerous articles I've read across the internet (and based on my own Sims 4 experience), anyone can be their own interior decorator.
That is, as long as you keep a few basic decorating secrets in mind.
4 Things to Remember for Bedroom Decor
Of course, the number one rule and secret is to do what you love. That's any professional interior designer's rule. It's what gives any space individuality, and gives the bedroom the welcoming atmosphere it needs to have after you come home from a long and tiring day at work.
But apart from decorating with what you love, there are 4 crucial things that you need to keep in mind.
Who knows?
If you pull it off correctly, maybe you can end up with a bedroom space that looks as great as those pictures you see featured in glossy lifestyle magazines. (My room, sure ain't. Personal opinion, but whatever).
#1 Smart color choices
Personally, I love a very feminine space. So I decked out mine with pastel pinks and some floral wall decor.
But anyway...
The color palette you choose sets the tone for your bedroom. So don't hesitate to decorate the space with colors that you love and adore. Colors that make you feel good.
But having said that, it's also a good idea to keep the bedroom's primary purpose in mind -- a place of good night's sleep.
Tumblr media
Touches of bright colors here and there are appreciated and livens things up, but tone it down. Keep the colors under control.
Tumblr media
I don't know about you, but it's a little hard to go to bed when you're surrounded by stimulating bright colors. But if you do love brights and are decorating with them, try and limit them to simple accents throughout the room.
Of course, if you want a serene atmosphere all the way, that can easily be accomplished with neutral palettes (with bright accents and pops of color once in a while).
Tumblr media
I tried an all-white bedroom before and added a decent pop of color through some colorful abstract wall decor.
#2 Factoring in texture
Not everyone can appreciate the need for texture, sadly. Look at this bedroom I found on the internet:
Tumblr media
I don't know about you but that looks really sterile to me. It lacks the 'something' I was talking about in the beginning. Most interior styles that fall prey to this is minimalistic interior design. But it can also happen with any interior style.
Whatever your favorite theme is, add some texture to bring comfort, warmth, and interest to the room.
How do you add texture?
Using fabrics.
Trying out an upholstered headboard.
Laying down rugs or a carpet.
Mixed-fabric comforters.
Wooly throw pillows or furry blankets.
Choice of curtains.
Rough wooden surfaces on some accessories or furniture pieces.
Textured lampshades
Indoor plants.
Choice of canvas wall decor.
Tumblr media
#3 Toying with patterns
Playing it safe with interior design means decorating entirely with solid colors. Well, that's your ticket to achieving a space with large blocks of bold and unbroken colors. It's very humdrum and it does nothing to attract the eye.
If you see your bedroom decor having this problem, the solution is pattern.
Tumblr media
No going crazy with the patterns. Just add a couple of touches. Keep it simple and classic.
For instance, stripes, dots, florals, chevrons, and geometric patterns all work well. They're enough to liven things up a little.
And as you add pattern to your decor, keep it fun and be careful not to overwhelm it. Try limiting the use of patterns to your:
Bedding
Area rug
Curtains
Throw pillows, comforters, and blankets.
Wallpaper
Wall art
Light fixtures and lampshades.
#4 Play with some shine
Tumblr media
Shine adds that "zing" to a bedroom. But of course, be wary of having too much or you risk reflective overloads. No need for an entire wall of mirrors (unless your bedroom is super narrow and you're kind of on a budget).
Honestly, all it takes is a touch of metallic. Perhaps mirror or glass to brighten the effect of reflected light to a room.
I'm sure you're well-aware of this already. But shiny surfaces make small rooms appear larger.
And when it comes to incorporating metallics, don't be afraid to mix and match brass, bronze, silver, and other gold elements.

Coastal Home Decor Inspiration
I am so grateful to be sharing this beautiful coastal home designed by Meghan Grimbert and Ann Ueno for Miami Living Co today because it not only features many interior design and decor inspirations but it also features the beautiful work of a very talented designer duo. They were kind enough to share every detail of this project, from hardwood flooring stain color to window treatments, so please make sure to check more of their work on their website and keep their name in mind if you are planning on hiring an interior designer.
Here, the designers share some important insights of this project:
“Welcome to our #coastalcasa, a 1950s cottage with original nautical stucco details located in the coveted Miami Shores neighborhood in Miami.
This home was given to us to completely redesign from the ground up. A gut renovation inclusive of a garage conversion, an addition, an extensive backyard design and front exterior design as well. From flooring, windows and window treatments, to a new kitchen, a laundry room expansion and hardscape in the front and back of the home, we had our work cut out for us!
The clients are a retired couple from Westchester, NY and they purchased this home with a goal to downsize and be closer to their children/grandchildren. We know that timeless and classic had to be a part of the aesthetic given the age and design goals of the client. But we also wanted to pepper in some modern touches to ensure there was personality throughout the home.”

Tips for Decorating an Outdoor Living Space
When we first moved into this house last year, our inspector said we would definitely want to refinish or replace the deck soon. I didn’t even want to think about the deck, though, because there was so much to do inside! But when Article reached out to me to see if I was working on any outdoor projects this summer, I thought … hmmm … I could be! We’re really happy with the Article sofa that we used in our study makeover, so I knew we’d love their new outdoor furniture too.
Little did I know that a “simple” patio refinishing would turn into an entire overhaul of our outdoor space, giving me a brand new living space perfect for entertaining! All of our hard work seriously paid off, and the new furnishings and decorations truly are the cherry on top of our patio project.
This post is technically the “grand reveal” of our patio makeover project, but I wanted to specifically talk about how to decorate an outdoor space so that it truly feels like an extension of your home. Even if you start with something that looks like this unassuming patio below!
To recap, we pulled off the old lattice fencing, refinished the deck flooring, added a new slat wood privacy fence, and topped it off with a slat wood pergola. Obviously, the structural changes made a huge impact, as you can see below, but it was really all of the decorative accessories that made the patio feel cozy and welcoming.
Before Decorating
I began by selecting furnishings from Article’s outdoor collection. I wanted to keep things relatively low contrast so the space felt serene and let the great outdoors take center stage. So I chose the Calo sofa and chair in gray tones that also tied in with the fire pit I had purchased. The Medan lounge chairs add the casual beachy vibe of rattan, but with the durability of metal and synthetic wicker. I love that they’re easy to move around depending on how we’re entertaining out here! For the dining area, I maintained the gray and white color scheme with the Tavola dining table and Sala dining chairs. Article’s wood Tana stools bring a different wood tone into the arrangement and they’re the perfect size for holding snacks and drinks.
After Decorating
All of the furnishings felt cohesive and stylish in our new patio, but left as they were, the space felt dull and lifeless. I strategized how to best allocate my decorating budget towards items that would pack a big cozy punch, and came up with a few basic decorative techniques. I’m really happy with how the space was even further transformed with some decorative accessories!
Here’s one more before and after for those in the back:
Outdoor Decorating Ideas
1. Outdoor Area Rug Just like indoor rugs, outdoor rugs are helpful tools for visually grounding a seating area and giving furnishings a greater context. They provide a soft place for bare feet to rest, and definitely elevate the cozy vibes. But unlike indoor rugs, outdoor rugs are designed to withstand heavy foot traffic and weather. I use a broom to keep my outdoor rug clean, and from time to time hose it off if it gets muddy. I chose a dark color to ground the lighter furnishings and accessories, but also to hide dirt and debris.
2. Outdoor Pillows Pillows can add to the comfort of your seating areas, but also make the space look just as cozy as the living area inside your home. Outdoor pillows are usually filled with lightweight polyester stuffing and should be made from weather resilient fabric. Weather resilient doesn’t mean waterproof, but rather that they won’t fade as badly in the sun and will resist the retention of water, which would lead to mildew. My pillows do get a bit wet in the rain, but they dry super quickly! Some people choose to utilize deck boxes or storage benches to store pillows when not in use.
3. Outdoor Lighting I transformed an indoor pendant light into an outdoor light (more on that in a later post!), but there are plenty of options that are outdoor ready, like this weatherproof basket-style pendant light from Article. Make sure to pay attention to whether or not an outdoor light needs hardwired. It’s not impossible to run a conduit to your outdoor area if you have some kind of rod or beams overhead, but I chose to use a plug-in option because this project was already complicated enough without electrical work.
String lights are obviously a popular choice for outdoor areas, because they can be draped so easily and simply plug into outlets. I also noticed there are a lot of nice solar-powered light options on the market now too! Some are string lights, some pendants, while others are low or tall torch-style lights. Regardless of what type of light you feel is right for your space, lighting of any kind will add excellent atmosphere (plus visibility!) when the sun begins to set.
4. Outdoor Curtains At first, I thought outdoor curtains were a bit over-the-top. But when I looked at the long expanse of slats on our patio fence, I knew a curtain would be the perfect way to visually break it up! I’m so glad I went for it, because these curtains add a new level of sophistication—as though I reserved my own beach cabana for the day. (Minus the beach, that is. Minor detail.)
For the curtain rod, I purchased an extra long galvanized pipe from a local builder supply store. Most hardware stores only sell up to 10-feet long pipes, but I needed 14 feet to space the width of the porch. A 20-foot length cost about $70. Not cheap, but I wanted to avoid needing a middle support for the pipe. This way, I can easily pull both curtains to one side for optimal shade from the sun. The rod is secured with a basic closet rod support.
Make sure you buy curtains that are specifically intended for outdoor use, or mildew will become an issue. I tie back my curtains when not in use with a simple rope tie-back. When the weather turns too chilly to use this space, I’ll bring the curtains and rod inside for the winter.
5. Wall-Mounted Planters Since I didn’t have any outdoor-friendly art I wanted to use out here, I decided to utilize plants for vertical interest in the space. These planters are specifically made for wall mounting. They have mounting holes on the back, so I just used screws and nuts to hang them on my fence. I chose Silver Falls to fill my containers because they look so lovely and light as they spill down from the planter.
6. Tabletop Decor Table runners aren’t just for indoors! Adding this woven-reed runner is my favorite way to make outdoor dining feel more special. I don’t leave it out all of the time, but I’ll put out the runner and candles to make the space feel more special when we’re out there. Terrariums and planters are also great items you can leave out on your table all the time.
7. Potted Plants Tall plants help visually fill the space around the furniture, especially in corners and surrounding doorways. I chose to use tropical plants out here and have a bright sunroom where they will winter. I’ve learned that there are some evergreens that are hardy enough to survive in pots during an Ohio winter, but I was too nervous to try that this year! I do love the idea of using large box planters and tall evergreens to serve as divisions between spaces. Maybe that will be next summer’s project?
8. Fire Pits Rather than using an outdoor coffee table, we decided to buy a propane fire pit. We’ve been enjoying using it for s’mores so far, and soon I think it will really enhance the ambience of fall evenings out here! You can also buy mini propane and lava rock bowls for setting on coffee or dining tables. If you don’t have space for a large one like mine, you can buy taller side-table style fire pits too!
9. Umbrella and Awnings Obviously, shade is welcome in the summertime! But umbrellas and awnings also add another decorative layer to an outdoor area. I had considered using a retractable awning for the seating area of our patio, but the nice ones are so expensive! I settled on a tilting freestanding umbrella that I can move around depending on the sun’s location. Shade sails are a great idea too! You need spots to anchor the corners of the sail, but the shade they offer is really nice. I just love the charm of an umbrella, though!
I keep pinching myself every time I look through the door and see this cheerful space! Truly, I love our outdoor dining space much more than our indoor dining area now. I want to host all of the parties and do all of my work from the serenity of this table. It will be a sad day when winter comes.
I’m so grateful to Article for making it possible for me to create my dream outdoor living area. I hope our patio makeover has inspired you and shown you ways to give your own outdoor space some love! While it’s already August, now is the best time to get out there and buy outdoor items on sale! Let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll be sure to follow up in the comments below. – Mandi

The Secrets to Creating An Outdoor Living Room
The Secrets to Creating An Outdoor Living Room
Tumblr media
There’s a new movement in outdoor living and it’s bringing the indoors outside. When we are inside we like to enjoy the view and the natural light from the outdoors.  But when we are outside, we want to bring the comfort and style from inside our homes to our outdoor spaces.  In recent years, I have worked with many Somerset & Hunterdon, NJ area homeowners who are looking to create outdoor living rooms.  This is a far cry from a simple weather resistant dining set and umbrella.  Careful thought and planning goes into designing a great outdoor space and I have a few secrets to making it a success.
Here are the decorating secrets to creating a fantastic outdoor living room:
1.      Focus on designing a functional space with a consistent look.  Your outdoor living room should be as cohesive as your indoor spaces.  This means thinking about how you want to use the space and what type of design aesthetic you envision.  Consider how many people you want to be able to seat for entertaining.  What type of environment would you like to create – casual and relaxed or elegant and formal? How will this space work with adjacent areas?
2.      Choose comfortable sofas, sectionals and/or seating in weather resistant fabrics. There are some fantastic options out there from great, slip-covered sectionals to wicker and rattan pieces with cushions.  Think about adding ottomans or chaise lounges for maximum comfort.  A professional decorator has access to quality furnishings and knows how to pull them together in ways you might never imagine.
Tumblr media
3.     Don’t forget tables.  Again, consider how you want to use your space.  If you’d like to enjoy snacks and cocktails in your outdoor living room, you’ll want a coffee table and side tables.
4.     Accessorize!  No space is complete without accessories.  An outdoor rug is a must to tie your décor together.  Pillows, ottomans, candles, and throws will make your space feel welcoming.  And don’t forget to add some plants and flowers!
Tumblr media
5.     Use color and pattern. Feel free to go bolder here than you are comfortable doing indoors.  The outdoor setting will embrace brights in a way that an indoor space cannot.
Are you ready to bring the indoors out and create an outdoor living room? Call Therese at 908-691-2615 and let’s create a space you’ll love for years to come.

Achieving the Top 3 Patio Functions: Gardening, Grilling and Chilling
Mysha Bolen knows what she wants from a patio makeover. The design blogger behind Remington Avenue boils it down to three patio functions: gardening, grilling and chilling.
Mysha brought together the right patio furniture, outdoor string lights and patio accessories to create her perfect spot for enjoying her backyard.
Garden, Grill and Chill Patio Makeover
When designing an outdoor patio space for someone, the first question I always ask is, “What do you want to do in this space, or how do you want it to function?” My top three patio functions are gardening, grillin’ and chillin’!
Before the Patio Makeover
I wanted a comfortable setting to hang out with my family and friends, eat yummy food, and keep my beautiful flowers from dying! I’m not known for my green thumb, but a well-designed garden patio fixed with potted plants, a drip system, and a pretty silver metal watering can sure help.
This patio makeover took my bleak concrete pad from a skeleton of a backyard to a comfortable, inviting, and intimate oasis.
Patio Function: Chillin’
First stop to creating a cozy hangout spot was the addition of the Hampton Bay Belcourt Fire Pit and Conversation set. I love how this versatile outdoor set can be used from day to night, outdoor lounge to campfire.
Add a paisley outdoor pouf, a round metal garden stool, some extra blankets and Hampton Bay outdoor throw pillows and you’ve got yourself the perfect set up.
I placed all the furniture over the Agave Natural outdoor rug. It helps define the space, and it’s more comfortable under those bare feet.
Here’s a tip: Place all your functional and decorative items in a bin or tray for easy removal when transitioning from table to fire pit or stored away in bad weather. We had a rainstorm hit yesterday, and I safely tucked my patio in the garage in less than five minutes!
Patio Function: Grillin’
When you think of outdoor living, grilling and BBQs are top on the list!
It’s important to have a functional grilling set up with easy access to the kitchen. This gigantic patio umbrella really shades the chef from the hot sun while cooking the ribs. The back of our home faces south, so adding ample shade was super important. This 11 ft. canopy with fancy LED lights was the perfect solution.
Outdoor lighting is a must! Not only for functionality, but for added ambiance. I created a fence-like perimeter using Hampton Bay Bronzed cafe string lights and 1-in. x 2-in. boards stained to match the house. This created a more intimate feeling and added to the overall atmosphere.
I also scattered lanterns of various heights around the patio. I filled the glass lanterns with battery operated candles and succulents. Succulents can take the heat and live on little water!
Patio Function: Gardening
A garden patio adds all the life and color. I built these cedar planters using inexpensive cedar fence pickets. You can find the easy tutorial for these DIY cedar planters here. They hide the ugly cement footings beneath the columns and add more architectural interest to the patio.
I ran a drip line coming up the back to ensure my climbing honeysuckles and sun-loving flowers would flourish all season. Flower gardens surround the patio and potted plants are scattered about adding lush texture and vibrant colors.
An outdoor living space is an extension of your home. To keep everything cohesive, I painted my back door with a semi-gloss exterior enamel paint. I chose Undersea Blue by BEHR. It was the perfect shade of blue that spoke to the colors of my new patio while complimenting the stone on my home’s exterior. It adds so much personality, I kinda want to paint all my exterior doors now!
I finished the patio with a semi-transparent BEHR concrete stain. I only applied the stain on the stamped concrete border. I selected Loden brown to match the trim of the house, creating a seamless color story.
Patio Functions Achieved
I’m just thrilled with how my colorful garden patio makeover turned out! It hits all the right notes with my top three patio functions. We will be enjoying our new outdoor space throughout spring, summer and fall. The days will be spent chillin’ and relaxing in the sun with a book. The evenings will be filled with delicious food, campfire s’mores, and quality conversation with family and friends.
