gigil | ten
Tumblr media
pairing: Ten x Female Reader (Fluff)
words: 1.9k
warnings: might be disgustingly cute idk.
A/N: Gigil is a word used to describe the overwhelming feeling that comes over us when we see something cute.
Tumblr media
At 1 am, with bare minimum noises in the background, save for a stray car zooming away in the distance and a blanket of stars overhead, Ten walked back to his apartment; feet dragging on the pavement, as they traced his displeasure along the way.
For the third night in a row he’d had to stay overtime at office, simply because someone else had been too lazy to finish their portion of work assigned to them.
Had it been any other day, he would have pulled through without feeling this level of annoyance. Any other week, he would not have complained; he liked working alone, when no one was around to disturb him and ask him stupid questions. But the fact that this was happening during the few days your schedule wasn’t as tight knit as usual, was really testing his patience.
He’d thought long and hard on whether he was being too dramatic about it, because it wasn’t like he never got to see you—your off days always had his name written on them—it was just that off-late he’d been wanting to see a lot more of you.
For him, dating you had started as a breezy ‘hmm I’ll see where this takes me, I’m not looking for anything serious’, but had quickly and quite irreversibly morphed into an intense whirlwind of ‘fuck, I might love her’ and at the end of six months it had rendered him dizzy.
He didn’t know when exactly he’d started to crave more of your attention, but on days it overpowered his entire existence. He wasn't yet used to the out of the blue pangs of wanting to hug you until you fell asleep in his arms, but he loved the warm and fuzzy feeling thoughts like these left him with.
On most days he could prioritise his work over his neediness for you. Today though? Today had been one of those days, where it had served as a roadblock between what he had to do and what he really wanted to do. Instead of being in bed, cuddled with you, watching a cute coming of age movie, he had to stay back and redraw the anatomy for a new character because some of his peers were incompetent.
Half an hour of brooding and a long silent walk later, he finally reached his building. On his last call you had already been yawning, so he assumed you were fast asleep and entered the apartment as quietly as he possibly could… only to find you lying on the floor.
His heart dropped down to his stomach as the worst, most horrible thoughts of you being injured and unconscious and him being too late in taking you to the hospital clouded his mind.
His panic lasted only about 30 seconds though, until he switched on the lights and it unravelled a completely different story.
You were passed out on the floor alright, but because you’d fallen asleep cuddling with his cat. He didn’t see the cat because your back was facing the entrance. Louis had fit himself comfortably in the crevice of your concave form, lying curled up, snug next to your stomach and was using your arm as a pillow.
Ten’s heartbeat slowed down with the realisation that you were indeed alive and okay and he breathed in a sigh of relief, giggling fondly at the sight of you two sleeping so peacefully; completely unaware of his presence.
He was kinda jealous of Louis, which was an insane thought, but he wanted in on what looked like a super cozy cuddle session.
Of course, he had to grab his phone and take some pictures first—how could he pass off this opportunity to stock up on some free serotonin. But as soon as he was done taking photos from every angle, he sat on the floor next to you, your back towards him, and rested his chin on your waist. It was a challenge to not kiss the sliver of skin peeking through, from between your shirt and boxers and an even bigger challenge to not wake you up.
He extended an arm to pet Louis, but the cat wasn’t having any of it.
Within minutes Louis was out of sight and reach and it was just the two of you, on the cold floor. With no cat to disturb, his attention naturally wandered over to you. It was too tempting to not kiss your bare skin. Your hands were tucked under your head, like a makeshift pillow; sooner than later you were bound to get uncomfortable—it only made sense to wake you up. It was definitely not because you looked too cute and he couldn’t stand not being able to squish you.
“Baby” he whispered softly, “Wake up.”
You stirred at the sound of his voice, pushing your body towards him, but not really moving.
He had the widest grin plastered on his face, just looking at you. “Let’s go to bed, you’re sleeping on the floor.”
You hummed in response, too lethargic to actually move and also just a scat annoyed.
When he stroked your cheek, you shivered under his touch, goosebumps forming all over your body. His touch was electric.
Feeling a bit smug about the reaction he just elicited out of you, he pulled your shirt up, just enough to expose your waist, and planted soft kisses alongside your ribs.
You squirmed with every kiss, until you were wide awake and sitting upright, fighting him off.
“Why why why” he giggled, as you pushed him away.
“Why!! Look at the tiiime.” You whined, not letting him have his way for the 800th time.
His face fell, “I know baby, I’m sorry. If it makes you feel better, I was really sulky the whole time I was there and not here.”
“No, that does not make me feel better.” You replied, “I don’t want you to sulk when you’re working.”
“Ayee you can’t have both.”
“Both what?”
“Be mad at me and not let me be mad at my work.”
“I’m not mad at you.” You pouted, crawling into his lap, “I just really missed you.”
There was something so soothing about your presence, something he couldn’t really explain. He held you tight and buried his head in the crook of your neck, taking in the faint vanilla-esque scent you naturally emanated.
“I missed you too, baby.”
You ran your fingers through his brownish-blonde hair, your heart skipping beats every time you felt his hot breath on your skin. You weren’t one to feel ticklish easily at all, except for under his touch. It was a phenomenon that perplexed you too. So when he slipped his hand under your shirt, to feel your skin, you shivered again.
He raised his head and gave you a knowing, smug smile.
God he was so infuriating with how attractive he looked when he smiled like that.
“You’re lucky you’re this cute.”
He grinned even wider. “Oh? What’s that? You think I’m cute?”
“Yeah, I think you’re very cute. What of it?”
The cutest laugh escaped his lips and he cupped your face, “I think you’re cuter, now please kiss me.”
He puckered his lips and in anticipation, closed his eyes, deliberately acting like a cringey young adult rom-com hero, but two could play that game, right?
You pecked him on his cheek instead.
His dramatic reaction sent you into a fit of laughter and the whole time you were trying to contain yourself, he was gazing at you as if nothing else existed in his world, with the goofiest, most endearing smile on his face.
He’d never told you he loved you—even though it’s all he’d thought about the past couple of days—partly because he was scared and partly because he didn’t want to scare you away.
But the way you made his whole being melt into a mush of happiness, made him not want to hold it in anymore.
“Hey,” he interrupted your hysterics in a serious tone, causing you to stop and look at him. You couldn’t match the intensity in his eyes, but it sparked a wildfire at the pit of your stomach.
“I love you”
Did you hear that right? Did he say he loved you?
“You what?”
“I love you.”
You beamed ecstatically. “Good, ‘cuz I love you too.”
“Oh thank god” he exhaled in relief, but before he could finish that sentence you had him caught up in a long, sweet kiss that knocked the wind out of his lungs.
In the dead of the night, you could only hear his soft moans as you bit and sucked on his lower lip. His hands wandered all over your body, grabbing and teasing you, while you focused on how he tasted like liquor and chocolate, without having any.
Everything about him was intoxicating.
“Let’s go in”, he signalled towards his room, when you finally parted away from him.
You looked delectable with your messy hair and slightly swollen lips. Ten wanted to devour you.
“Ohhhhh Mr. Lee why do you want to take me into your bedroom at 2:30 AM.. What are your intentions?”
“To show you how much I love you.” he seduced, “Will you let me?”
“I’ll let you do whatever you want, baby” you replied, getting up and holding your hand out to help him.
“I wonder what good deeds I did to have found you in my life.”
You rolled your eyes as you walked towards his room. “And I wonder the exact opposite.”
He gasped. “Is that how it is huh? I guess you’ll never find out how much I love you then.”
“Aww.” You chuckled, closing the distance between you, “It’s okay, I can show you right here how much I love you instead?”
“No, I can feel Louis looking at us and I’m not about to traumatise my son. So, I’m gonna give him some treats and be right in.”
“Fifteen minutes or I’m going to sleep.”
“I’ll take five.”
“You and I both know you need at least fifteen minutes with Louis.”
How does this woman know me so well, he thought to himself walking over to where his cat was perched.
“What do you think, Louis? Did I do the right thing” Ten whispered, nuzzling his nose in the fluffy fur.
Louis meowed.
“Yeah, I think so too. She’s really great isn’t she.”
Louis meowed again, making him chuckle.
While pouring some dry food in the bowl for his cat he realised he actually hadn’t eaten anything since afternoon, yet he felt full… full of this happiness and a kind of contentment that he’d never experienced before. He cringed at this disgustingly sappy thought and made his way back to you, into the bedroom.
You were sprawled on the bed, already asleep, not even having managed to get under the blanket.
“So cute”, he fondly murmured, as he got in bed too and encompassed you completely in a hug—his arms now wrapped around your waist and one leg overlapping both of yours.
You stirred, but he pulled you in closer,
“It’s okay, go back to sleep baby.”
He heard a little affirmative hum and you turned around to face him—eyes half closed—to give him a tiny peck on his lips and then hid your face in his chest.
You started falling back into your world of dreams and he fell right in with you, following you through a field of daisies, admiring your beauty as the sun glowed on your face; just like he would if you were awake. And tell you a thousand times over how beautiful he thought you were and love you and kiss you until you fell right back into his arms at the end of every night.
There was something so sweet about that feeling, it made you smile and you thought yeah… it seemed like a good way to spend the rest of your life.

Fantine at Saint-Cloud
I finally finished the companion piece to the Cosette picture from earlier!
Based on this description: (where Hugo’s being kinda creepy but whatever)
Her splendid teeth had evidently received an office from God,--laughter. She preferred to carry her little hat of sewed straw, with its long white strings, in her hand rather than on her head. Her thick blond hair, which was inclined to wave, and which easily uncoiled, and which it was necessary to fasten up incessantly, seemed made for the flight of Galatea under the willows. Her rosy lips babbled enchantingly. The corners of her mouth voluptuously turned up, as in the antique masks of Erigone, had an air of encouraging the audacious; but her long, shadowy lashes drooped discreetly over the jollity of the lower part of the face as though to call a halt. There was something indescribably harmonious and striking about her entire dress. She wore a gown of mauve barège, little reddish brown buskins, whose ribbons traced an X on her fine, white, open-worked stockings, and that sort of muslin spencer, a Marseilles invention, whose name, canezou, a corruption of the words quinze août, pronounced after the fashion of the Canebière, signifies fine weather, heat, and midday. The three others, less timid, as we have already said, wore low-necked dresses without disguise, which in summer, beneath flower-adorned hats, are very graceful and enticing; but by the side of these audacious outfits, blond Fantine's canezou, with its transparencies, its indiscretion, and its reticence, concealing and displaying at one and the same time, seemed an alluring godsend of decency, and the famous Court of Love, presided over by the Vicomtesse de Cette, with the sea-green eyes, would, perhaps, have awarded the prize for coquetry to this canezou, in the contest for the prize of modesty. The most ingenious is, at times, the wisest. This does happen.
Shoutouts to @combeferre and @elliotenjolras who helped me figure out what a “canezou” actually was in 1817 (turns out it means a different kind of piece of clothing in the 1830′s because of course we can’t have things making sense) and also what it would have looked like. (I mean I hope it looks right, idek. 99% of the time I put into this drawing went into redrawing the clothes a hundred times because I have no idea how period clothing even works.)
Oh and also what he meant by “mauve”, because mauve dye did not even exist yet in 1817. Although in the end I just went with artistic license on this one, AKA the colour that looked cutest to me. (Although I did consider going with something more purplish for a bit.)
I don’t think I need to explain the colour scheme too much otherwise? Fantine’s colours are mainly gold and white but occasionally also blue. And I think this is the only outfit of hers that’s described in this much detail.

mutual funds: Thinking of investing all your surpluses in your favourite mutual funds? Read this
The market has witnessed the fastest fall in its history. Many stocks are available at extremely attractive or cheap valuations currently in the market. While the whole world is anxious about the nationwide lock-in and prospects of the ravaged global economy, some brave souls are hunting for the bargains. There are anecdotal stories that online brokerages are facing deluge of applications from individual investors. Some mutual fund investors are also becoming adventurous and talking about investing their surpluses in their favourite existing mutual fund schemes. Is it a good strategy?
Mutual fund advisors and financial planners are asking investors to tread cautiously and avoid adventurous steps in the current market conditions for two reasons. One, we have not dealt with a situation like the current one earlier. Two, it may present new challenges to you on health and professional fronts. That means you have to go to the drawing table and redraw your financial plan.
First, let us deal with the novel situation that has unnerved most experts. It is true that most investment experts typically ask investors to buy more when the market corrects significantly. However, you might have noticed that things are quite different this time. Most experts, especially the sensible ones, are asking investors to tread extremely cautious and do be adventurous.
“On logic based on historical data points , there is no doubt that this is a good time to start investing . However, I wouldn’t want investors to put in their entire surplus today. The world is dealing with a crisis and we don’t know how/when the market will emerge from this. Keep that in mind. If you have the appetite to take this risk, invested in a staggered manner over next 25-50 weeks,” says Subir Jha, Founder, BuckSpeak, a wealth management firm based in Hyderabad.
What is different this time? You know the answer. Most of the market falls are based on some negative news, data, etc. However, this time we are dealing with a deadly virus that is striking across the globe and leaving many dead. It is playing havoc with the economies across the globe, probably leading to a severe economic slowdown and huge fiscal deficits.
The trouble is: most people can’t recall anything like this happening in their lifetime. That is what makes the predictions very difficult this time. We simply do not know how soon or how long we would be able to finish off the virus threat. Will the economies around the world bounce back once immediately? Or will it take a long period? So many questions, but no concrete answers to any.
That is why the sensible advice of wait for the clear picture is doing the rounds.
With that we reach the next point: uncertainties on our health and career fronts. Thanks to the forced isolation of people and complete national lock-down, the economy is going to suffer a great deal. Many businesses that are heavily dependent on consumption might be servery hit. Already many daily wage earners have lost their jobs and next is the turn of those working in small and medium enterprises. Unless the government offers incentives, many of these firms will be forced to trim their workforce or shut shops.
This will have a cascading effect on the economy and it might have some impact on your personal careers, too. Also, you should be prepared for a health-related emergency. These two uncertainties might force you to revisit your liquid investments and emergency funds you have earmarked for such situations.
Subir Jha asks investors to be mindful of the risk to their regular income in this critical time, as businesses get hit. “Avoid investing in equities , if your job is at risk . Take help from colleagues/seniors/ friends from similar profession , to assess this risk . These are unprecedented times and you shouldn’t risk your lifestyle for earning extra returns in the long term,” says Jha.
Many financial planners believe that the conventional three-to-six months’ living expenses may not be able to deal with the current situation. You should make sure that you have investments in liquid assets to take care of your living expenses for at least six to 12 months. This is extremely crucial to take care of any shocks from medical expenses and job losses. And it is very important if you have financial dependents or children.
Once you are through with the exercise, you may go for your bottom fishing and invest the money in your favourite mutual fund schemes.
“If you have a surplus (money that you do not need to use in an emergency or for short-term goals), you should invest. Investors should put money in every major fall. However, it is very important to be sure about two things. One, you don’t need the money for at least for the next five years. Two, stagger your investment over some months,” says Chokkalingam Palaniappan, Director, Prakala Wealth Management.

Blog #4 - Interdisciplinary Work
During my studies of a Bachelor of Animation, I was told to do some work for another group of students, outside our Trimester level. We all set up what we were working on across two classes and were asked to check out what everyone else was doing and pick whatever looked cool to you. What no one informed me of was that the team we worked with had to be from another artistic discipline (web design, game design, audio engineering, or film… not animation) halfway through the trimester as I was happily working with another animation team, I was suddenly told to split from the team, and check out a game development team. Since the secondary animation team was horribly understaffed I felt bad about it and tried to work with three teams for about a week, while thinking up what to do with the game dev team, eventually I broke off from the animation team.
Long story short, the game dev team quickly realised that character designer/ animator me wasn’t going to draw good spaceships, so they told me: Draw some aliens. So I did.
Here is a quick stock of alien sketches I did for the game dev team.
Tumblr media
So before I was asked to draw aliens, I took a crack at drawing a spaceship, I promised it would in fact just be a metal chicken, and I’m sure I did indeed deliver a metal chicken. I recall a lecturer from my Tafe days showing me the works of Feng Zhu, who taught art students, and drew vehicles inspired by the animal kingdom, mostly fish. So… I drew a chicken, because I like chickens.
Understandably, I couldn’t go far with my brazenly absurd and above all…well, bad spaceships.
So, when I got the note that I should shift to character design instead I breathed a sigh of relief, then sighed again for disappointment, as this was still very much a science fiction game, and drawing monsters tends to be rather different from drawing monsters… and my strengths are in drawing humans, animals, furries and monsters. Aliens would be difficult step, but hey, at least I’m drawing something organic, can’t complain.
So back in Tafe, I was running with a group making a cartoony sci fi platformer, and I’d drawn astronauts, T-Rexes and common Greymen. So I thought I might as well throw in a grey to start off with.
Tumblr media
As I’d been spending months writing essays and blogs and building things in 3DsMax, it had been an unreasonably long time since I’d actually drawn something, seeing as Greys are rather neutral humanoids, they are a good alien to experiment with how you are going to play with proportions for a given set of characters. These guys were scrapped pretty quickly, but I have no problem with that.
Tumblr media
So after I’d drawn the greys, I thought “bugs are sci fi, right?” and totally was not thinking of the movie I saw that weekend and drew two entirely random bugs. I was trying to determine if the bugs in the game would be centaurian (hexapeds with two arms and four legs) or four-armed bipeds.  I like my bugs nice and chunky, so I drew the limbs a little thicker. My wasp I feel doesn’t look particularly exciting. So I moved on to other bugs.
Tumblr media
Recalling that some people are terrified of moths and butterflies, I thought I try drawing a vicious moth-man. Had I bothered to look up moth-man legends I might have actually drawn something scary, but instead I came up with this hilariously bad joke of a moth alien.
Tumblr media
So I came to the conclusion that if I was going to draw a decent bug-alien, I would have to make it something big and strong and tough. So I thought of beetles, they’re tough, and pretty huge. I drew out the form being mostly triangular, with a greatly exaggerated upper body; and found out I prefer four-armed Biped aliens to centaurian bugs. Since I am not an entomologist, I just threw in all the insect mouth-parts I could think of on a human-skull-shaped head and gave it horn-like antennae. In order to further exaggerate the ludicrously tiny legs, I just left him with actual beetle legs, which don’t really look like they have feet. I made the abdomen rather small, and mostly for balancing purposes, and just threw a bunch of spikes on him where I felt they were needed. Strangely the whole dev team liked all of my bugs, but the War Beetle was definitely the best loved.
Tumblr media
Reptilians are a given, after greys and bugs, and apparently before Lion-Men, according to my alien conspiracy friends. This one is a standard grunt, mostly modelled off Ratchet and Clank robots and a certain Ratchet Deadlocked skin called W3rm. What isn’t from the game wasn’t playing last weekend is that he is in fact bearded dragon, holding a crappy gun, because I just can’t draw guns at the moment. Swords? No problem. Guns… problem. I tried to draw him in an IDGAF bad-boy pose… I don’t think it worked; however the dev team liked it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dev team was strangely insistent on my drawing an eldritch monstrosity inspired by a cephalopod. I frankly, do not understand this wave of interest in the works of H.P Lovecraft, I consider the man a racist jerk with serious mother issues. Plus I’ve never read anything of his as I just don’t have an interest in his stuff. So yeah, I drew some cephalopods with bat wings on their heads. That’s probably as close to drawing Cthulhu, Shubniggurath, shoggoths or any other abominations of R’yleh I don’t care to learn the names of. Understandably, the dev team didn’t pick either, because… well, look at them.
Tumblr media
When I informed the dev team that I’m not particularly great with aliens, I let them know that without a doubt I was going to draw a cyborg dragon. My only real concerns with this picture are that the not enough of him is robotic, particularly is right arm, jaw and wings. Also the silhouette isn’t very good, I doesn’t clearly show off his six limbs. However the dev team was quite entranced with him, likening him to Charizard of Pokémon fame.
Now for the final coloured versions of the top 3 characters the developers chose.
To be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing with colours, and I began with red for all of these guys, and used the Photoshop Hue and Saturation tool to change layer colours until I went through the rainbow, saving out .pngs, and picked out my favourite colours from there.
Tumblr media
Red Army Ant
I redrew the arms, and shoved a gun in his hands, it shoots plasma. I’m not amazing with guns, but whatever, I gave it a shot (hehehehe…) I picked red colour, because ants are usually red or black in colour.
Tumblr media
Dread Scarab War Beetle
I call this colouration ‘dread scarab’ because red and black are scary. I wanted the viewer to feel as if the spikes are either poisonous, or covered in blood.
Tumblr media
This guy I decided to redraw the cyber-dragon with a more dynamic pose, in order to show off the 6 robotic wings and make the arms easier to read. I felt that the war beetle was already super beefy, so I toned down the shoulder length. Then I made the tricked out gun and connected up a wire to a small machine by his heart. I completely forgot my initial ‘harlequin’ bionic setup, and put the other leg on the same size as the wholly robotic arm, but I still think it works. I also drew some crappy fire.
I hope you have enjoyed my concept art blog :)
