The Wilden Oak was indeed beautiful, though not as beautiful as he.
I was overwhelmed by the thought of Wyll with long hair, maybe a few years post-adventure, who knows :’)

It's so weird seeing how adultified by both the text and fandom Wyll has been. When we meet him in game, if you look past the scars, and then later the devil ridges, he's honestly very baby-faced. I can't even imagine how young he looked when he actually made his pact. At SEVENTEEN. As a CHILD.
Like why are all the dialogue options mean when you find out about his father, pact, etc. He wasn't some gnarled, wise adventurer when Mizora preyed on him, he was a good hearted kid who just wanted to save his city and the people in it and was manipulated into thinking that the only way to do that was to literally SELL HIS SOUL. And of course he wouldn't tell you about his father, the man threw him out. He loved his dad and when he needed him most the man tossed him away. He didn't just lose his house either, he was banished from the whole city, essentially pushed out into the wilds. OF-FAKAN-COURSE he's going to have immense trauma from that.
The whole persona he has seems like a coping mechanism and it's so bizarre that fans can love a character for becoming even more of a piece of shit because of trauma, but call another boring and annoying because his trauma response was to throw himself into heroism and helping others. If he went "Chee all you fakas" and went holo holo in the woods, I wouldn't even blame him, but he was out there saving lives where he could while literally being bound to the whims of a DEVIL.
Anyway, I am a Wyll stan first and a human second.

Warning, a rant of BG3 fandom (and of astarion)
BG3 and Astarion stans TM (not normal fans, mind you) made me realize I'm too old for fandom like...this.
Idk if I'm just unlucky or something like that, but the amount of people who equates "nuance" with "let's go full genocide bcs it's fun and to troll wyll/karlach" is too damn high.
Aaaand not surprising, almost all of them are astarion stans tm. Look, I'm not saying all of astarion fans are like this, but forgive me for getting more and more uncomfortable with how some people are acting. So apparently I am not allowed to complain about how astarion keeps being a dick in act 1, but they're allowed to hate karlach and wyll so much because they're "goody two shoes"?
Sorry, it sounds like hypocrisy.
Just the other day i had a fight with several people, over discussion of Gandrel (the gur we met in the swamp). It's crazy for me how they feel the need to invent ridiculous just to justify killing him. I can respect if the reson if "It's more pragmatic" (I mean, i still disagree since we can just lie to him), I even respect more when someone said "lol i did it because I'm an astarion simp, I'll do whatever he ask me to". But to say that gandrel is an amoral character who needs to die because he will make a deal with the hag just to find astarion? Or that he doesn't have proof that astarion is hurting people?
Are these people serious??
It's extra ironic how one of them just before this claim that I imposed modern morality for finding their action to be not neutral, and that faerun being medieval dark fantasy setting is suppsed to be more lenient to evil actions, elyet in the same breath accusing an NPC as amoral for trying to strike a deal with the hag, enought that it's okay to kill him.
For some reason, to them, not liking evil run meams you're media illiterate and can't handle nuance.
Look, i can't handle it, i wouldn't enjoy witcher 2 writing and def. will stake astarion the first chance i got.
Sorry for the long rant. I'm super cranky right now. I hate edgelords like them.

I am so tired of when we try to discuss the racist treatment of Wyll’s character and his content disparity, stans of other characters try and hijack the conversation and it’s not even just the Astarion fans. They will jump in and be like “Yeah! Shadowheart, Lae’zel, and Gale are neglected too bc of Astarion!” Like in WHAT world??? Shadowheart has the same amount of hours of content as Astarion (not to mention Act 2 is basically made for her and she is the only companion the game will push you to recruit if you don’t do it) and Gale and Lae’zel are hardly far behind. It’s not even really an issue of Astarion being favored over all other companions and more so about the (racist) lack of attention Wyll gets in comparison to EVERYONE, not just the vampire. That should be the conversation. And don’t even get me started on the people who start yelling about how Minthara and Halsin (who aren’t origin companions) “have it worse.” Like sorry but this isn’t about ya’ll, get back to me when the character you are talking about is the ONLY origin character with less than 10 hours of content. He has two hours less than Karlsch who was added later than him. It is all so frustrating.
God. Yeah. like id like to take these type of additions in good faith but i feel like a lot of people don't realize or don't want to admit that this is a racism issue. when the only black character (and i think the only prominent character of color in the whole game- forgive me if im wrong but the only other really prominent nonwhite character ive seen is cazador, which, do not get me fucking started on his fu manchu ass concept art) is continually ignored and mistreated, then it becomes an issue of (subconscious or not) racist behavior from larian and the fandom itself. its not that minthara et al don't deserve more, but wyll is a main character, and shouldn't a main character be focused on before optional recruits and npcs? and i understand why people don't want to think of it like that- people like larian and don't want to criticize them when theyre releasing updates and patches for free. but we need to be able to criticize them if anything is going to get any better. otherwise this fandom and gaming spaces in general will continue to be unsafe for people of color. i know i as a person of color do not feel safe in the bg3 fandom, and i cannot imagine how much worse it feels for black fans.
