I just had an Absolute Brainwave. I share it with you! Ozpin (maybe post-merge with Oscar so it's him instead?) reincarnates in, of all places, BnHA. Does he keep his magic? Does he have a Quirk? What generation does he incarnate into? Does he become a Hero? If so, what kind? Limelight, Undergorund? Does he go Vigilante instead? Does he drop most of his marbles down a storm drain and decide to try on his Comical Villain Hat for shits and giggles to mess with Baby Heroes?
*slaps table* YES. Ozpin, not post merge Oscar because consider-
Ozpin *and* Oscar reincarnated separately, Oscar young enough to be Ozpin's adopted kid, which he totally becomes. But that's a thought for later.
Ozpin reincarnates in the generation of hmmmm. I'm torn. Aizawa's or All Might's generation could be fascinating, but it could also be *really* fun if he was in younger generation. Like Hawks' and Dabi's. Either way, Ozpin is technically quirkless? But nobody knows that because his newly restored magic followed him into this life (it followed him through every lifetime during his curse, of course it follows him to his last life). Everybody thinks it's a quirk of some kind and arguments on what it is are *fierce*. Is it energy manipulation? Illusions? Element kinesis??? NOBODY KNOWS and reports are majorly conflicting.
And look. LOOK. Ozpin is in no way a villain. He has never been and never will be. But what he IS, is a very wounded soul with strong opinions and lifetimes of training that tells him to work from the shadows, don't let people know.
He 100% registered in the Hero Commission as a villain. But all of the Underground heroes who know him and all the decent Vigilantes are like- ehhhhh *so-so hands* and continue to work with him on the sly, because while he's enigmatic and secretive, he is *good* and he has always prioritized lives even more than some spotlight heroes do. His only "villain" status is that he uses his quirk freely to achieve his goals and he kinda gently tap-dances back and forth over the line of legality depending on his mood and what will get the best results for his current project.
And, you know, he is vocally opposed to the current version of hero society and how quirks are smothered and discriminated against and like- he could work to change that from inside the system. But he's done "inside the system" before. It takes literal lifetimes and he no longer has the patience for that. Better to gently poke and prod from the outside until there are others poking back from the inside.
Also let it be known that his real identity as Ozpin is 100% a secret. He has a villain identity for all of this (probably something tongue in cheek like the Wizard of Oz or the Green Wizard or something) but his civilian identity is not only above board but well liked by what spotlight heroes he knows. Including Nezu.
Nezu totally knows Ozpin is the mastermind villain running around lately, but he also knows that his plans always *benefit* people and he's a gremlin mouse-rat-ermine-thing who finds it hysterical. They often sit over tea and talk circles around each other. Ozpin can beat Nezu at checkers and chess through sheer experience and Nezu loves it. He keeps trying to hire Ozpin as a teacher for U.A., yes, even when Ozpin was a teenager.
Also note that if Ozpin is in Aizawa's or All Might's gen, then Oscar is in Izuku's gen. But if Ozpin is in Hawk's gen, then Oscar is baby like Eri.
