Does anyone know of any games (on PC or Switch) that are effectively Stardew Valley, but scifi/high tech?
I don't mean like My Time at Portia which has similar vibes. I mean it more literally. Like WoMen in Science, Verdant Skies, or Mars Base.
WoMen in Science is in early access, and I don't feel it's quite ready to be played.
Verdant Skies kinda missed this mark. It forced you to use designated crop areas and spread them around the map instead of letting you have a farm to setup as you wish. That made it feel really tedious. But I did like the genetic engineering feature; they implemented that well. And I really liked the greater diversity among the characters.
Mars Base looks great, but it hasn't released yet. So it's hard to tell if it could scratch that itch.
One Lonely Outpost looks great, but also not released yet.
I want something like Stardew, where you inherit the family farm, but isn't a "back to rural life" experience. I want irrigation systems and genetic engineering. A transporter sled to harvest like in Star Trek Picard. Hydroponic options. Automated drone helpers. Hoverboard transportation. Upgrades to farming equipment over time. Maybe some kind of colony- or city-building goals to mirror the community center.
And similar mechanics of cooking, fishing, and mining. A more literal take on Stardew than similar options, but in the future.
I look for something like this every few months and end up disappointed.
