Really…
… Every time I think about it, I’m disappointed we didn’t get more of the four way dynamic of Yua - Naki and Horobi - Fuwa. They could have had a really good energy, bc they kinda zig zag.
In the greater sense of the HumaGear ‘side’ and the human ‘side,’ Naki and Yua are parallels, and then Horobi and Fuwa are parallels. But they also do have some ‘diagonal’ parallels in the tracks they follow. Naki and Fuwa manage a quicker, clean break while both Horobi and Yua struggle bc they still ‘don’t fit in’ to the place they find themselves after breaking free of the initial oppression (and neither get to work through it satisfactorily). Fuwa had significantly more focus and development than Naki, but they both ended up going a similar way. Horobi didn’t get any of the extensive dedication and help that Yua got, but ultimately ended up in a similar place, right down to how he reacted to the person controlling him. I was kinda loving the potential they had as the ‘responsible parents’ of the equation (in his own way, Fuwa is responsible… More of a 'dad’ while Ikazuchi is more of a ‘big brother’ if that makes any sense). Along w/ mbjr sans Jin, which we got precious little of (all of one scene and one fight while controlled by the Ark)… They may have been one of my most anticipated/favourite potentials, and I’m really sad we never got more of them.
Like, for me we got half of what I think would have been a perfect post series set up for them. I really wanted to see Yua and Naki working together, though I kinda wish they had taken over ZAIA Jpn and turned it into their own company or something, bc I struggle to associate either of them w/ AIMS anything but passingly, but what can you do. I was initially kinda hoping Horobi and Fuwa could take over AIMS, but honestly, the thought of Fuwa ‘officially’ joining mbjr has kinda topped that. The true neutral vigilante team. Horobi and Fuwa ending the series fighting to protect/help innocent people makes sense for their respective motivations and personalities, whereas Naki and Yua are more calculating and ‘bigger picture.’ Additionally, the pairings work even more bc of their different places at the end—Naki and Yua give an air of wanting to separate from their pasts and completely start over, whereas Horobi and Fuwa are still very defined by what happened to them and are still very connected to their pasts. They’re like the set up for a spy/detective show I’d definitely watch.
