#Hazel being one of the few children of Hecate that didn’t go to fields of punishment

Hazel godly parent swap idea!!!
So, instead of Pluto, it's Trivia.(Hecate) But not just any child of Trivia, one of those murdered by the gods at the Battle of Manhattan. (Cough cough the massacre of Titan army demigods who cough) So she still comes back from the dead, she is just not from decades ago.
This creates problems for her as 1) Trivia is a virgin goddess, 2) if the Romans find out she is ex-Ta she is dead, 3) if the gods find out she is alive she is dead, 4) she knows who Percy Jackson is but can't tell anything without giving herself away.

Traitors of Olympus IV: Fall of the Sun
Thirty-Nine: Kalypso
I Argue with an Inanimate Object
Kally almost slapped the Cloven Terror helm in surprise, but realized exactly how dumb that would look since she was wearing it. “You can talk?” she said out loud. “Um, to me? You’re alive?”
She glanced towards the battle and felt a horrific sense of vertigo. As her gaze went to the peripheral of her vision, it expanded, showing everything on either side of her: the way Percy screamed on his throne, the two giants battling near them. Maybe near? Her depth perception failed.
Disoriented, Kally returned her gaze to Alabaster, where his pale face stared back, patiently letting her get adjusted. Her vision returned to normal.
Not all of us. We reflect the monsters they want to be. Ajax thinks silence is terror; Axel, the calculated insertion of an intelligent beast; Alabaster…
           There was a wry laugh.
Besides, I was the first. I needed to come with an instruction manual.
Everything hummed. Kally could feel energy surge through her body. Green sparks erupted from the broken corner of the helm.
Alabaster reached a hand out, pressing one of his rune pouches into her palm. He weakly gestured towards her Argonaut statue in her other hand.
We made something for you, but, with my master in his current state, you must cast the spell. We had no time to test it.
Kally wanted to inform the talking helmet that this was epic and cool, but they picked the wrong person. She wondered, if she had known this was how things would turn out, would she have followed Axel and Pax out of her school a few months ago?
Without hesitation, she knew the answer was yes.
“I can’t use magic,” she said.
All creatures possess the ability to use magic. It’s whether you have the aptitude to excel. Now, cast with me.
The words raced through her mind. Later, she would need to demand when Alabaster had the time for prepping this spell and exactly why he hadn’t done it before. She took Alabaster’s hand and the spell pouch, and pressed it against the Argonaut statue. If she had to guess, that statue was giving her the most skeptical look possible. When her mouth moved, she couldn’t tell if it was the voice of the helm or her own.
“Incantara: revertetur,” Kally said, the helm’s darker tone whispering in harmony with hers.
The statue glowed green as the rune pouch melded into the metal. Kally wasn’t sure what was supposed to happen. She didn’t feel any different, though Alabaster now looked paler. Knowing her luck, she just used all of Alabaster’s magic reserves to make her weapon cuss in squirrel instead of anything useful.[1]
His quivering hand pointed behind her. His eyebrows furrowed, but that could have been from the pain. The ambrosia didn’t seem to have much effect on his broken jaw, though she guessed he would need a bit more than a godly pain killer for that.
She didn’t like the idea of leaving Alabaster by himself, barely conscious, and unguarded. As though he could read her mind—maybe he could with the helm on—he withdrew his pistol and set it on his lap.
“Okay,” Kally said, her voice cracking, “Okay. I’m going to go help the others. But, uh, I need you to protect this.” She took off her messenger bag and set it beside him. “Make sure no one else reads my journal,” she said lamely, since she couldn’t get herself to say, Yea, don’t die while I’m not looking. Or while I’m looking. Just don’t die.
Alabaster rolled his eyes. Then, looked like he might throw up from the motion.
As gently as she could, Kally kissed his forehead.[2]
Then, she stood up and turned to face the battle. Preparing for the nausea and disorientation this time, she glanced to the edge of her peripheral, feeling her vision expand like a panorama photo.
There was another monster on the field she hadn’t seen before. She didn’t remember anything in Greek mythology like this; it was huge, towering over the Roman’s field lights, matching the size of Eris. At first, her stomach clenched to think they’d have to fight another god, but it slammed into the goddess of Chaos with a, “Sorry. Didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers.”
           “Pax?” Kally said stupidly.
The creature was humanoid, but it looked nothing like her not-really-ex-boyfriend. Talons busted through the back of both the monster’s combat boots. Its fingers were twice the length of a normal human’s or demigods, with black more talons further extending the digits. His forearms and thighs seemed twice as thick as usual.
Poking through the Silver-Tongued Snake’s helm, which had also grown, the face under was narrowed and pointed, not squishy.
When he struck Eris, Kally couldn’t follow the speed of his movements, like seeing a snake or bird wind up for an attack, then only seeing the aftereffects.
Ah, a feathered serpent. How utterly appropriate, the Cloven Terror muttered.
With each slash of Pax’s talons, Eris giggled hysterically, regardless of whether she successfully blocked or not. Ichor splattered her clothing; Kally couldn’t tell if it was from Eris or Pax. Each time Pax drew close, she’d lash haphazardly out with a jagged knife coated in some black liquid and a smattering of his glittery blood.
Every time they stepped, the ground shook.
If Kally were looking at them with her normal eyesight, Pax would appear to be gaining the upper hand: Eris was rapidly losing ground. With the expanded vision, Kally could see Eris backing them towards the strawberry fields, where one misstep from their knife-talon family squabble could squish a stray camper or ghoul.
Eris wouldn’t mind some flattened comrades. Kally suspected creepy eagle-snake Pax might be a bit traumatized if he had to pick demigod skeletons out of his boots.
Behind them, the camp was in mayhem. Clarisse La Rue, several other Ares campers, and one or two Apollo children tried to corner Python. The massive drakon snapped around, swallowing one camper in a single strike.[3]
The Romans were fighting their way through hoards of ghosts and ghouls to form a single rank and protect their sides. There were so many undead, several ranks were isolated and couldn’t make it to the conglomeration around the barracks or strawberry field.
Some of the Greeks rushing out to help collapsed onto the ground, unconscious. Certain ones would stagger back to their feet, then turn on their allies.
In the distance, by the cabins, Phobetor tried to keep piping on his flute for his sleep-hypnosis, but Hazel Levesque and Lou Ellen prevented him from gathering a sleep army. Each time one of the magic-users blasted or slashed him, he lost one of his sleep walkers.
Although Greeks and Romans had been unprepared and several were dead, Kally felt like they were doing pretty well without the main heroes helping.
In her counting of the gods that had been present at the Pax Tree Growing Party, she realized she was missing one: Atë.
A puff of smoke whirled into existence by Clarisse La Rue’s legs. Kally didn’t see Atë fully materialize, just her tire iron smashing into the daughter of Ares’ calf.
           Clarisse crumbled to the ground.
Kally clenched her Argonaut statue, focusing her vision on the smoke, allowing the panorama to narrow to her normal vision. Somehow, someone needed to stop Pax’s half-sister. How was she supposed to predict Atë’s movements to hit her? The goddess of Ruin and Mischief only seemed to appear at the least convenient place possible. (Something to add to the list of uncannily similarities between Eris’ children.) Otherwise, her victims were randomized.
Don’t take aim. Just throw instinctively. Don’t even look, the Cloven Terror helm instructed.
Yea, throw blindly into the middle of an active battlefield. What could possibly go wrong? Kally thought, disliking the helm’s ill-timed sense of humor. Knowing my luck it’ll miss, fly several hours away and clock Jason Grace in the head so the others can’t save Hemera.
You are a child of prophecy. You predict the rash and unpredictable ruin of others, it responded, seriously. And, on the Jason Grace comment, I’m not seeing a downside.
Lou Ellen must have told Hazel to help the Roman ranks. The child of Pluto had turned to race towards where the Romans were about to be overwhelmed by a troop of undead, despite a friendly rhino’s attempts to mow the enemy down. As animal choices go, Kally winced at what Frank had picked with his recent concussion.
As Lou Ellen moved her mouth to prepare a spell, something to deflect Phobetor’s oncoming hatchet attack, smoke vortexed near her.
Kally took a step backwards to prepare a throw with her discus.
You’re too late to save the daughter of Hecate. Accept that you cannot save everyone, then blind throw. Being the Cloven Terror, you must embrace that the end will justify the means.
           But if there’s a chance—
She wanted to argue, but a surreal sense of disassociation stunned her mind. Kally felt like her thoughts had detached from the battlefield, from knowing Lou Ellen as Alabaster’s quirky half-sister, from caring that a demigod could die if she didn’t help them.
A tugging sensation pulled at her stomach as her eyes fluttered shut. While Kally stepped forward into a full rotation, building up the power of her throw, she pictured Atë’s terrifying red eyes.
Power surged from her body’s swing, from her step forward, up her spine, through her arm as she arched it, and finally, releasing through her fingertips.
A hissing sound left her hand.
Kally opened her eyes, searching for Lou Ellen.
Her discus steamed and glinted gold in the field lights, but it wasn’t going anywhere near Lou Ellen.
It hissed straight towards the rhino smashing through enemy ghouls.
Oh gods, I’m going to hit Frank and give him another concussion, Kally thought.
When the helm said she needed to accept she couldn’t save anyone, she didn’t think it meant she’d be murdering a Canadian.
In a split second, she glanced over to Lou Ellen, across the battlefield. The child of Hecate lay on the ground, unmoving.
Rage filled Kally. “Why did you make me do that?!” she shouted, wondering who was wearing whom.[4] She went to tear the helm from her head in a panic.
A black wisp of smoke puffed out ahead of the rhino.
As Atë went to strike Frank’s skull with her tire iron, Kally’s discus smashed into Atë’s arm. The tire iron flipped harmlessly into a ghoul’s head.
           Atë vanished again.
The rhino stopped short, looking very confused, or Kally imaged that’s how a confused rhino would look.
The discus—instead of slamming into the ground—did something very odd. The hissing golden metal sizzled green. It slingshot back towards them.
Kally froze as the helm laughed darkly. If I wanted you to kill the praetor, I would have made you do far worse. Hecate’s Helms are more powerful when we work in harmony with our masters. Why do you think the Leonis Caput has weakened so? Now, I suggest you either duck or catch.
The discus was closing in, fast. All the times Kally had hit people with it, she never thought about how much it would hurt to be on the other end. Maybe Alabaster’s spell was the most extreme of rejection letters, Uh, sorry, it isn’t going to work out. I’m too awkward to say that, so I decided it would be easier to kill you with your own weapon. It’s me though, not you.
Kally sidestepped and extended her hand. As the discus passed her, she grabbed it, spinning with the momentum to decelerate the metal without ripping off her arm. In a weird, reverse spin, she stumbled to a stop.
Kally’s breath felt ragged. She tentatively touched the helm. Yea, it had been right about Atë, but she did not like that moment of forced battle apathy.
We’re not done here. Now, fight in the same manner you threw.
“I say when we’re done. I’m wearing you, not the other way around!” Kally said, though her mind was focused on, In the same manner I—?
Confusion gave way to a horrific sense of dread.
Reflexively, Kally lifted her discus to be level with her throat.
As she did, nails made a screeching sound against it. Something struck her discus, hard.
At least it was that instead of her neck.
Kally stumbled backwards, alarmed to see black smoke swirling on either side of her and unprepared to fight a goddess.
Sorry I’m running so late! My brother and my new sister had their Nikah yesterday, so we were celebrating that alongside Easter and it has been a crazy busy month. Hope everyone had/is having a great Easter/Passover/return of Persephone!
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed :D I feel like Kally needs to find a partner with better communication skills….
[1] Magnus might say this is very useful.
[2] Mel’s betanote, “AWWWWWWWWWWWW HOW GENTLY DOMESTIC!” Jack, “Alabaster would resent that comment.”
[3] Mel’s betacomment was just a picture of Meg from Disney’s Hercules from the moment he was eaten by the hydra <3

Merry Christmas, @followmetopromiseland!
I hope you like it! Merry christmas <3
*****
You might’ve heard the story about Hades and Persephone, the old greek myth.
There’s some truth to it, though the one mundanes tell is also written by them so a lot of it is wrong.
For starters, the names; Hades’ real name is Magnus while Persephone's real name is Alec. Also Hades or from now on Magnus, is not a brother to Zeus (real name Robert).
Magnus is the child of an unnamed goddess and a children of the night, a demon. Magnus was born with godlike powers, but the other gods didn’t want him in Olympia, he wasn’t god enough, so he got cast out to the underworld, where he’s now the ruler.
Alec was the firstborn of Demeter (Maryse) and Zeus (Robert). He had a little sister, Hecate (Izzy), who was associated with guarding crossroads, witchcraft and children of the night.
Our story begins with Alec helping his sister track down a huge dragon that plagued the mortals on earth. This dragon was a demon and had escaped from the underworld, and since nobody that Magnus had sent to fetch it could do it he’d decided to go himself, regardless of what mundanes think both sides wants to keep them safe.
As a struck of fate they all found the dragon at the same time and worked together to capture it. Magnus was surprised by the beauty of Alec, he knew that gods often where beautiful but there was something else with this man.
Something beyond beauty. Alec felt the same way and couldn’t help but stare at Magnus as soon as the dragon was captured. However, there was no time for smalltalk, Magnus had to get the dragon back to the underworld before it did more damage. Izzy being a witness to all of this, wanted Alec to reach out to Magnus, but he wouldn’t hear it. This didn’t stop Alec to spend a week thinking about the man, his captivating cat eyes, the way he moves, the shape of his arms, his body. Alec just couldn’t get him out of his head.
Meanwhile, in the underworld, Magnus had the same problem. No matter what he did, his mind went back to the god with hazel eyes, a captivating smile, long legs. He knew he could never be with a god, the gods had cast him out, even though Alec hadn’t been born at that time, Magnus was sure that his parents where. It was not in the cards, it never would be, it could never be them. Luckily he knew what to do, a good party always cheered him up and no-one partied better than mortals. So he left and put Ragnor, his best friend, in charge for the night.
As another struck of fate, he went to the same bar as Izzy. She was out on a date with a mortal, something her mother said she got from her father, but nobody really cared as long as she didn’t get pregnant. Izzy saw Magnus at the bar and used her witchcraft to contact Alec, telling him to get there. Alec ignored the message, despite being unable to get the man out of his head. He didn’t think it would help to see him again. As Izzy was on her way back to Olympia, a bit disappointed but not surprised that Alec hadn’t shown up, a demon, the size of a fly came to her. It told her that Magnus had been distracted ever since he came back with the dragon, it said that it didn’t know why but maybe it’s time for a new leader. The demon thought that Izzy wanted to rule the underworld and thought that would be a good idea to get in the good graces of the new ruler.
Izzy had no desire to rule the underworld, but she used this, she’d seen how Magnus looked at her brother and thought his distraction must’ve been because of Alec. She instructed the demon to free the dragon, to let him loose in the mortals world again. The demon agreed and went back to the downworld.
A few days later, the news reached Olympia, the dragon was once again loose, Izzy asked for her brothers assistance and he agreed. He would never deny his sister, it was his job to protect her. At the same time Magnus was alerted that the dragon had once again escaped and traveled to the mortal realm. When he found the dragon, he also found Alec and Izzy.
Together the captured the dragon and Magnus took it back to the underworld once again. Both Magnus and Alec now longing for the other even more, but neither making a move. Izzy continued to pull this trick over and over, and for each time the men noticed something new in each other.
The twinkle in Magnus’ eyes, the way Alec skin crinkle around his eyes when he smiled, how Magnus moved when summoning spells, how Alec protected his sister without a second thought and they found themselves looking forward to seeing eachother again, despite their meetings being short and mainly fighting.
After Izzy had pulled the trick for the 10th time, Magnus felt like he’d burst of longning and decided to go back to the mundane bar. He needed to do something, he couldn’t just sit there and do the same things as always. He needed a distraction.
The same day, Alec asked his sister for something fun to do that would distract him. Taking a chance, she suggested the bar she’d seen Magnus in, not knowing if Alec would recognize the name. Either he didn’t or he just didn’t say anything, because he thanked Izzy and left Olympia for the mortal realm. He was surprised to see Magnus sitting by the bar, sipping on a cocktail, and at this point all of Alec’s strength was gone. He’d been thinking of this man since they first met, and now he was here, right in front of him, with no Izzy and no dragon. Without thinking, Alec went over and sat down on the barstool next to Magnus.
“Hey, it’s been awhile.” Alec greeted Magnus, cringing at his own awkwardness.
“Oh, hello.” Magnus turned, in shock from hearing the now so familiar voice, but a small smile playing on his lips. “I didn’t know you’d be here.”
“And I didn’t know you’d be here.” Alec paused, ordering a drink from the bartender. “I suspect my dear sister knew though.” Magnus raised an eyebrow in question, and Alec explained, they talked and laughed as the time flew by. In the blink of an eye the hours passed and the owner told the pair that the bar closed.
Alec asked if Magnus wanted to go for a walk, he happily agreed. Their walk continued for days, and up in Olympia Maryse was getting worried, it wasn’t like Alec to be gone for so long.
She summoned Hermes, god of trade, who’s real name is Jace, asking him to find Alec. When Jace found the pair, he only told Alec that his mother was worried and looking for him, then he leaves again, not paying any attention to Magnus.
Reluctantly Alec and Magnus parts ways, the two men left to their homes with a heavy heart. Once again reminded of the impossibility of their relationship. As Alec spends a few days in Olympia with his mother, he can only think about Magnus, how calm he felt in his presence, how his beauty wasn’t just physical but all the way down to his soul. Alec knew that he had to see him again, but he didn’t know how to get into contact with Magnus.
So he went to his sister, since she was connected with the children of the night, or as they’re more commonly known, demons. She’s happy to help and sends Alec’s message to Magnus with the help of a demon. Alec had invited him to meet at his favorite field.
Nervous, not knowing if Magnus would show up, Alec went to the field, it was filled with flowers and out of sight of mortals. Of course Magnus showed up, as soon as Alec saw him, he ran there and hugged him. Squeezing him tight, he didn’t even know that it was possible to miss someone so much.
Magnus, surprised, but happy, hugged him back, burying his nose in Alec’s shoulder, breathing him in.
They sat down in the field, holding each other close and talking. After a few hours, a message from Izzy came, telling Alec that their mother was looking for him.
Their bubble once again shattered, they parted ways, promising to meet the next day, the same time. They spend the next year like this, trying to savour every moment, even though it was torture. Having to sneak around, never knowing how much time they’d get together, their meetings always interrupted by something.
They didn’t know what to do, Alec couldn’t stand the thought of leaving his family and Magnus wouldn’t let him even if he wanted to. Regardless, they had nowhere to go where they wouldn’t be found and there wasn’t a chance in hell that their relationship would be accepted. Alec was the son of the king of the gods, he couldn’t be with someone like Magnus. But they can’t stop seeing each other, that would hurt even more.
This all changed when Alec’s parents starts talking about marriage, about how they knew a few possible suitors. They talked about gods like Poseidon, Aether and Chronos. Of course Alec didn’t want to marry any of them, he didn’t want to be with anyone but Magnus, though he couldn’t tell his parents that so he sat there in silence.
The next day he met Magnus as usual and he told him what his parents had said, unable to hold back his tears, Magnus wipes away his tears and holds him close. Telling him it would be okay, even though he was destroyed inside, he knew this would never last but he wanted more time, he needed more time. That day, they laid down in silence, holding each other tight, thinking about a way to be together forever. Neither of them comes up with anything and as they say goodbye their hearts broke. They’d see each other tomorrow, but their time was running out.
In the underworld, Magnus spends the night sitting on his throne and trying to come up with a plan. In Olympia, Alec lies awake also trying to come up with a plan. Both of them manages to come up with some ideas and when they meet the next day the combine it all into the perfect plan. They say goodbye, for the first time without a heavy heart. They took a week to prepare, it needed to be perfect if they were to succeed and they only had one chance. For the first time in over a year they didn’t see each other in a week.
A week pass by and the day is here, Alec takes his mother down to earth, they did this every year. Took a trip together and enjoyed the beauty of earth. Alec told his mother that he would be going to the lake and would be back soon. He added that he loved her and she was surprised but said it back. As he reached the lake he picked up a handful of pebbles and threw them in the lake, signaling to Magnus.
In a second Magnus came with in his horse carriage and picked Alec up, going back to the underworld. Back on earth, his mother wondered were Alec had went and starts calling for Alec. She doesn’t get an answer but within a few minutes Izzy showed up, acting surprised that Alec had disappeared and suggested that they’d go and ask Helius, the son god, or as they called him Luke. Maryse thought that this was a great idea and they went to the sun where he lived.
Luke had indeed seen everything and told Maryse that Magnus had taken Alec to the underworld. He even added that Maryse should let the two get married, but she wouldn’t hear of it. She thought her son deserved a real god like Poseidon. Maryse decides to go to Robert and ask for help, he was after all, the king of the gods and he could get their son back. However, Robert never liked Luke and refuses to believe that he’s telling the truth and thus won’t help Maryse. Enraged she strikes back, using her powers as the goddess of fertility, destroys crops and makes the ground baren, causing famine to the mortal realm.
Back in the underworld, Alec and Magnus watches everything, they’re horrified about what happens to the mortals, but they’re too far gone, there’s nothing they can do at this point.
Thankfully, Robert realizes that if he lets Maryse continue, humans would get extinct and he likes their offerings. So he reluctantly agrees to help Maryse. He calls Jace and tells him to go to the underworld and fetch Alec.
Jace is greeted by Alec and Magnus, and demands that Alec come with him to Olympia. Magnus says that, of course Alec is free to leave and Jace grabs him by the arm. Just as they’re about to leave, Magnus adds that Alec has eaten while down here and thus has to stay. Jace gets furious and demands to know what Alec had eaten. Alec murmurs that he only ate six pomegranate seeds.
Magnus nods but says that, since Jace is the god of trade, maybe they could come to an agreement. Jace thinking this is a good idea, nobody is better than him at trading, he is the god of it after all, agrees and lets Magnus start. The first suggestion is that, each seed is 100 years and that every 600rd year Alec could leave and go to Olympia for a hundred years. Jace disagrees and says that each seed should be a minute, since they’re so small, and Alec only has to stay in the underworld for six minutes a day. This goes on, until Jace says months and
Magnus agrees, pretending that he was defeated. Jace was pleased with himself and took Alec back to Olympia. Maryse is thrilled that her son is back and praises Jace for his excellent trading. Neither knowing that Magnus and Alec had planned it all along, they’d tricked everyone, their plan had worked.
Now Alec could be with Magnus without abandoning his family.
The only three people being aware of the true story, of what really happened, is Izzy, Alec, Magnus and now you.
That the story you heard before, where their names are Hades and Persephone, is so different, is partly because it’s the telling of Alec’s mother but also you mortals have changed it to fit your preaching.
But now you know, what really happened when the underworld got their second leader. Alec and Magnus still rule the underworld together, as in love as when they first met thousands of years ago.

Thomas knew getting called into the Big House was not a big deal to most demigods, but being the son of Poseidon he knew that being called was always a big deal. After running from the Amphitheater, he was out of breath and sweating. Standing tall Thomas saw that his friends Joan and Talyn were already there.
“What’s going on? Why did Chiron call us three here? If it’s another quest I’m out.” Thomas asked after catching his breath.
“I don’t know, Kelp Head, but it is weird.” Tayln answered as Chiron walked out with four children, who all looked to be around 15. The first, and tallest, was slouching in their black hoodie that looked like it had seen better days. Their hair was a dark brown with purple streaks in the front and their eyes were a darkish purple. The way they was standing clearly showed that that they did not want to be here. The next one was clearly more confident than the one in front of them. Their hair was dirty blonde with light blonde roots and their brown eyes seem to glow with sunlight. Their outfit was in much better shape than the latter but still the white shirt had what looked like dried blood and their pants were stained with grass and what Thomas hoped was dirt.
The third one looked like they was studying the environment, eyes wide with curiosity, beneath the glasses that they wore. Their shirt was cut in a couple places and they seemed to have a tie on. Their hair was brown with many blonde streaks that looked completely natural, but their eyes. One was a color Thomas saw a lot of in his own friend’s eyes, the grey was clearly Athena’s but the other eye was hazel. The smallest one was practically jumping up and down and when they saw Thomas and his friends. Their brown eyes didn’t seem to focus on Thomas but just to his left. Thomas turned around expecting to see someone sneaking up on him, but discovered nothing. Thomas stared back at the kid and noticed a that they were wearing a blue polo with a sweater over his shoulders, which seemed to have cat paws.
“Thomas, Joan, Talyn. Thank you for coming quickly. I’d like to introduce you to our newest campers. This is Virgil, Roman, Logan, and Patton. They are unclaimed as of right now, but-” A bright light cut him off. A shape appeared over two of the kids heads. Two crossed upside down torches were over the one named Virgil’s head and an owl appeared over the one named Logan.
“Well ok, glad I called you two then. It seems Virgil is the son of Hecate and Logan the son of Athena.” Chiron explains. “Talyn you can take Virgil around. Show him the camp and his cabin. Joan, you can take Logan around, and Thomas you can take Roman and Patton. Answers any of their questions while I go and teach my class.”
“Ok, Chiron.” While Chiron clopped away, Joan, Talyn, and Thomas introduced themselves.
“Hi, I’m Thomas, son of Poseidon. I use he/him pronouns.” Thomas starts.
Joan waves, “I’m Joan, child of Athena, they/them.”
“Talyn, Hecate, and they/them.” Talyn finishes.
“What about y’all, what are your pronouns?”
“All four of us use he/him, thank you for asking.” Logan responds.
“Well now that we have that out of the way let’s start the tour.” They all split up taking their charge in different directions. Thomas brought Roman and Patton to the rock wall, “Yes, Roman that’s real lava.”,the craft station, “Don’t compare yourself to the Athena kids, they’ve got magic on their side, Patton”, and the strawberry fields, “That’s our cover.” Finally he brought them to the Hermes cabin
“This is where you will be staying, at least until you are claimed.” Thomas knocked on the door frame, “Hey Sky, you in here?”
“Yes, Thomas, what do you need.” A girl appeared from the darkness of the cabin.
“Have some new campers, should be claimed in the next few days, but have to take them here first.” Thomas explained, “Could you answer any questions that these two have? A couple of campers are arguing again and I’m the best person to stop them from getting out their weapons and attacking each other.” Patton and Roman both listen and hear what sounds like 6 or so people yelling.
“Yeah, you better hurry it sounds like the Ares cabin is getting involved.” A clashing sound is heard, “Better yet, book it.” Thomas nodded and bolted.
Sky faced the boys, “Do you want to see Thomas in action?” They both shout yes and the three of them ran after him.
When they got to the fighting, it was clear Thomas was not calming anyone down. A kid with a bronze sword was swinging and a girl with a spear and a couple other kids were fighting each other.
“Clarisse, come on don’t kill the kid.” Thomas yelled at the one with the spear.
“Beat it, Sea Spawn, Andrew has dissed the Ares cabin for the last time.” Clarisse answered lunging at the one with the sword, apparently name Andrew.
“If you aren’t going to give up, I will make you.” Thomas told her calmly, but Clarisse didn’t hear or chose not to listen. Thomas took a deep breath and sang. His bass voice was melodic and made Clarisse stop mid-strike and drop her spear. Andrew also stopped as did everyone else with a weapon. Everyone looked to be in a trance, it was only broken when Thomas stopped singing.
Clarisse looked like she was going to strike Thomas, but stopped when she heard Chiron clopping over.
“What is going on here?” Clarisse looked like she was going to answer when Chiron put his hand up and looked at Thomas.
“I don’t know exactly, but Clarisse was angry and was about to kill Andrew, I stopped her,” Thomas explained while Chiron surveyed the scene.
“I see. Andrew! Come with me. Clarisse stop making faces, you will be talking to me next, the rest of you clean this up and go back to your activities.” Andrew and Chiron walked away to the big house with Clarisse a few paces behind.
Thomas was about to walk to his cabin when he saw Patton and Roman and walked over “Sky! I told you to answer their questions, not bring them to the fight!”
“Sorry Thomas, this Hermes kid cant resist the chance to take bets.” Sky answered holding up a couple gold coins, “There is always the chance to trick the newbies.”
Thomas shakes his head and mumbles something about Hermes kids and having enough to worry about, he looks up and smiles, “I’m gonna assume she didn’t answer any of your questions and brought you here after I left, do you have any questions?”
Patton jumped up, “What was that that you just did? Can any of us do that? Why are we staying in the Hermes cabin, exactly? Who is my godly parent? Why are you so orange?” Patton stopped to take a breath and continue, but Thomas stopped him.
“It’s a power I have, no not that I know of, Hermes is the patron of travelers, I don’t know who your godly parent is, and Orange? Do you mean why I my shirt orange?”
“No, why- I mean yes, Why is your shirt orange?” Patton stops moving, frowns and thinks for half a second, then he does back to the smiley kid.
“Why Chiron chose this color I might never know. Roman, what about you?”
“Just one, were those real weapons that those two were fighting with?” Roman looked almost entranced by the thought of a weapon.
“Uh, yeah.” Thomas flicks his wrists and two blades appear in his hands, one sliver and one bronze. “We have to destroy the monsters some how. My weapons are these Kamas, they were a gift from my dad.” He flicks his wrists again and they disappear, “When I don’t need them, they’re bracelets. If that’s all your questions I believe that dinner is soon, then we have the campfire, so you better get them beds, Sky. I have to help Joan with some of their experiments, they mentioned something about my personality? I don’t actually know, but I gotta go. Peace Out!” Thomas runs off and Sky leads the two of them back to their cabin.
“This is where you will be staying, do you have anything that you came with? No, we’ll get you new clothing.” Sky gives them both shirts and new pants, along with new shoes. They fished putting on the new outfits just as the dinner conch sounded.
A boy with curly hair yells, “Hermes Cabin, Line up!” Everyone lines up and they walked to the dining pavilion as a group. Patton is bouncing up and down talking to everyone that he could. Roman was being friendly, but mostly he was studying everyone, trying to figure out where he would fit the best.
He had it down to three very likely and one probably not but he’s at a camp for Greek demigods anything is possible. He was either Aphrodite, his looks are pretty godly, Apollo, his voice is heavenly, or Tyche, he’s gotten out of some really dangerous situations that should be impossible to get out of. The option was Zeus, which was highly unlikely, but hey it could be.
“-man, Roman! Dude where are you?” Cecil, son of Hermes, snaps his fingers. “Man you were out of it! What has you thinking so intensely?”
“My godly parent of course! I hope to be claimed as soon as possible.” Roman jesters at the campers, “I believe I have it narrowed down, but I could be wrong.”
“Ok, dude, I’ll leave you to it.” Cecil turns to talk to another camper. Before Roman can retort, Chiron stamps his hooves on the marble.
“Good evening campers. We have some new people today. Mr. D?” A porky looking guy jerks awake and mumbles something, “Yes, Virgin, Legos, Romero and Patty. Now let me get back to my wine magazines, Pinot Noir seems to be very popular this year.”
“Thank you, Mr. D. Reminder that fighting without a supervisor will result in kitchen duty, the Athena cabin will tutor anyone who his willing to learn, and that Capture the Flag is on Friday.” Chiron stepped back and let’s everyone resume their meals.
“Roman come with me.” Connor directs Roman to a fire.
“This is suspicious, what am I doing?” Roman glances at other campers and seem their dumping part of their food into the fire. “Is this a sacrifice to the gods?”
“Whoa, you guessed that? Maybe you’re Athena’s kid.” He stares, “No, you have blondish hair, but not the grey eyes. We’ll find out eventually.”
Roman scraped part of his plate into the fire and walks back to the Hermes table. After dinner was a sing-a-long, Roman would not miss that for anything. The song was weird though, I Am My Own Great-Grandpa. Nearing the end of the night was when it got really weird,
It started when Roman asked the Apollo camper in charge of the music for a guitar to play with, she looked at him weird but gave him one. She told me the cords and to watch her, he did, very carefully follow her hand movements and the pattern to pluck the strings. After the first verse, he got the hang of it and stopped watching the Apollo camper. That was when the first weird thing happened, while he was playing, someone to the right of him started to whisper to the person next to them, Roman couldn’t hear them well, but he heard his own name mentioned. He didn’t listen to them and kept playing, then he realized that very few people were singing and now were staring at him. He stopped playing and questioned the crowd.
“What?”
Logan answered, “Look down, Roman.” He looked down and saw that the guitar he had been playing was turning gold.
“What? How? What does this mean?” Roman looked up at everyone, and they were all washed in a golden light. “Why are you glowing?”
“We are not glowing, Sir Sing-A-Lot, you’ve just been claimed.” Virgil smirked.
Chiron stepped forward and spoke, “All Hail Roman, son of Apollo, god of music, poetry, and prophecy.” Roman looks up and sees a lyre slowly fading from the top of his head.
That was the first weird thing, the second weird thing was what happened next.
“Wow, Roman, looks like you got competition for being Roman in the Apollo cabin.” Someone shouts.
“Shhh, Roman you’re amazing.” Patton cheers. After Patton says that however, he changes. Patton suddenly is in a chiton, hair perfectly styled, new glasses, his freckles were glowing pink and he looked like he had some makeup on. “What is there something on my face?“ He looks down. “Whoa! This is some fancy outfit.” He looks up and stumbles back, “No one is glowing? Where are the colors?” He lowers his new glasses and pears at the crowd, “So that’s where you went, sneaky colors.” Patton suddenly realizes that he is still in public and puts the glasses back in place.
Chiron breaks the silence by saying, “All Hail Patton, son of Aphrodite, lady of love.”
Suddenly all of the attention that was on Roman was now on Patton, Roman wanted to be mad, but after bonding with Patton over the last few weeks, he couldn’t. So he sat silently, not mad, just peeved. Chiron tells everyone to go to bed, but Roman has no idea where to go, since he just got claimed. Someone taps him on his shoulder.
“Roman?” They question, “I’ll lead you to our cabin. I’m Roman by the way.” Thus Roman’s night was ruined, even with his new golden guitar, which he knew he would treasure all his life, he did not have enough attention from getting it, he was a failure.
