KK IM READY NOW🤗 so. it's like the game in the mystery aspect- there's a 'before' and an 'after' the 'event' is what they need to find out. BEFORE- after coming home from a war, shiro decided to open an animation studio (this is the simple version he probably had reason idek) and he took some other friends that he new to work with him. pidge and matt as projectionists, hunk as an engineer/mechanic, lance who helps write cheesy songs, allura voice actress, ect. it was fun. until they got popular
(2) while designing the main character or mascot for the studio beforehand, shiro saw Keith's cat in the window sill and had an idea. Keith had died in the war while fighting with a special team and shiro decided to honour his memory by making the mascot an anthro cat (totally not a furry lmao) that resembles and acts like keith and the shows would always be dedicated to him. shiro didnt realise how popular he would be, making him constantly wonder if this was the best way to preserve his memory
(3) with all the stress on such a small team, problems quickly began to rise. deadlines weren't being met, and overall it as such a mess. the crew rarely saw shiro anymore and when they did, he didn't look okay and he didn't act like himself. he wasn't sleeping much, just planning for something big. the big thing presented itself as a giant ink machine.
oh yeah in this au remember shiro has mad ptsd and a cool old-times prosthetic arm (that some how works in this time lmao
(4) pidge finds notes written in messy ink: 'why stop at his memory? we can bring him back too' and 'this will save the company! why hesitate?' it looks like shiro's hand writing, but she doesn't think it's him. strange things are happening, and she's not sure if she want to stay and find out. but she can't leave. the stairway is flooded with ink again. she is really not a fan of the machine and ends up talking about this issue with lance-the pump to drain the stairway is in his office.
(5) disaster strikes- shiro ends up in the hospital, everyone else: missing. (6) AFTER: shiro wakes up in his apartment well rested for the first time in ages. he figures it's time to go to work and gets ready but something is different. he can't figure it out. the studio is a mess, and he doesn't remember anything about an ink machine. i imagine this part is just like chapter one-collect the objects, turn on the machine. instead of bendy, shiro finds something else.
(7) there's this deformed mess of seemingly solidified ink that seems to be breathing lying down next to the machine. he watches as it slowly attempts to get up but fails until it eventually turns around. the ink reaches out and calls to shiro with a familiar voice. shiro thinks it's unreal but the voice belongs to keith, and the longer shiro stares the more he notices half of the mess of ink that is keith is actually the character based off him. the other half of his body is his regular self
(8) however, the character side seems to be a more deformed version, as he is constantly dropping ink from that side, but also becasue the claws seem sharper (always out not retractable like the character) and it overall just looks terrifying. he's so out of balance that walking or getting up is hard so he reaches for shiro. his ink touches shiro's prosthetic, which covers the entire thing and essentially covers the arm in ink, but he can still use it like normal even better to help keith up now
(9) shiro is now more careful not to let any part of keith touch him except for his arm. keith understands and talks about how he never wants to go back to living in the dark puddles again and would never wish anyone that fate. he talks about the first time he "came to be" and how 'shiro' was there talking to him through the ink before he drowned in it. shiro doesn't remember this, and asks keith if he remembers the war or if he's actaully talking to the character. keith says he remembers dying
(10) he also remembers various 'events' that shiro recognises as shorts he animated with the character. keith then asks if he was real, or if he was just some figment of imagination somehow brought to life. shiro's silence doesn't help because he doesn't think he's stable enough to answer. after a short while keith's body begins to stabilise more so they explore the studio to go find the missing others
(11) that's all plot wise but here's some random points: keith's body will start to melt more depending on his emotional state (like "hey keith are u okay" "ye" "no ur melting what's wrong") keith can somehow communicate with other ink monsters. kuro is involved in the 'event' (nyehe i'll tell u more once i have your thoughts on it). shiro doesn't actaully remember how the studio got so big. it was small the last time 'he' saw it. demonic circles r everywhere too. shiro's ink arm is pretty solid
(12) everyone has something part of them now made of ink just obviously not as much as keith. i imagine the with the format of the game shiro finds a different person each chapter. chapter 1 he find keith, chapter 2 lance, chapter 3 pidge/matt, ect. not sure if i want other cartoon characters (kinda like half of keith) alive yet. (they would make things problematic. which might be good idek let's see)
SWEET HERE WE GO
i don’t know exactly what the mechanics behind the ink creatures in the actual game are (is it implied that alice angel is actually her voice actor?  actually maybe, now that i think about it, because she has two voices, right?) so are you thinking that each missing person corresponds with an animated character?  except probably the projectionists, right?  because they’re not characters, they’re literally just projector heads--the equipment instead of the product
oooh i could see pidge and matt as kind of a tag team, matt with the head of a microphone and pidge with the projector head, and matt sits in wait until shiro/keith make too much noise and then pidge gets summoned and her beam of light traps them
kuro is like the ink demon, right?  so as shiro is going around people THINK he’s the evil one until he can convince them he’s not, and the whole time there’s the threat of the real monster crawling out of the shadows :O
also i’m love the idea of necromancy using black ink??  that’s my favorite fucking thing i’ve ever heard, also with shiro’s prosthetic and the ink machine it’s almost like steampunk except... inkpunk?  HOLY SHIT
also... imagine how much creepier it would be if Keith’s character on the show was silent?  like, they wouldn’t just find a voice actor to voice him because it would just be kinda uncanny valley for shiro, they probably spent months looking for the right voice actor and no one could quite capture him so in respect for the actual man who died they kept the character silent...
so when shiro first sees him in the factory, he think’s he’s going to be silent (like boris :O) and then he talks, and it’s in keith’s voice.  the RIGHT voice.
that might be the reason shiro or kuro started to get a little, uh, weird in the ‘before’.  he wanted to make this character into KEITH and he couldn’t find the right voice actor, or the right storyboards, or the right scripts... and it just kept driving him more and more into desperation, partly because he thought business would go smoother if he just found the right artist/voice actor, and partly because he just wanted keith back...  grief, man
imagine factory workers who paint smiles crooked on merchandise, it would be like they were insulting keith himself... at least to shiro.  that anger... that could drive anyone to the darkness.  inky, inky darkness :O
