Who should play Omni-Man in a live action Invincible?
Tumblr media
Whether you are an avid watcher of Invincible or not, at this point you probably know the character of Omni-Man through the zeitgeist, merchandise, or memes.
Tumblr media
Since JK Simmons interpretation of the character, Omni-Man has sky rocketed into popularity. The incredible villain was a major part of Invincible's success, giving us a very violent, angry and conflicted performance from Simmons.
Given there will be a live action film, currently in the works from Allen the Alien actor Seth Rogen, I thought I'd throw some names in the mix who I think could be potentially great Omni-Men.
Warning: This will contain spoilers from Seasons 1 & 2 of Invincible so be warned!
Who can't be Omni-Man?
Tumblr media
Before we get started into who could, I am gonna limit myself a bit. Let's start with the obvious, JK Simmons is too old. He's fantastic, and I love his version, but he can't be Nolan. Might I suggest Conquest, Art, or best of all, Cecil?
Tumblr media
I also have no intention of picking actors who have played Superman. So Henry Cavill, Brandon Routh, etc, no dice.
Tumblr media
Also in general, I'm gonna try to avoid actors who already have an iconic performance as a superhero character. So actors like Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck and others won't be on this list either.
Tumblr media
And finally, I've seen the fancasts of both Jon Hamm and Nick Offerman. Frankly I like both. But I think we can do better.
Tumblr media
What are Nolan Grayson's Physical Characteristics?
Tumblr media
Omni-Man needs to feel like the most dangerous man in the room AND the world's greatest hero. It's a very delicate balance to pull.
I'd prefer someone over 6 ft tall, with a background in both heroic and menacing roles.
Nolan is a viltrumite, meaning he could be any race or ethnicity.
If he can rock a mustache, even better.
I'm looking for an actor in their late 30s to early 50s. We have a little room to work with as his age is slower, but someone in their 40s is most preferable.
Let's get into it.
3. Colin Farrell
Tumblr media
Starting off our list is the original Bullseye himself Colin Farrell. Though he is a little bit shorter than I would like at 5'10, Farrell brings experience, skill and likeability to Nolan, which is very necessary if we want to portray him as a good guy.
What really sold me on him is actually Saving Mr Banks, where he plays a sympathetic, problematic father who truly loves his children. That sympathy can go a long way for Omni-Man.
Tumblr media
Where he doesn't sell me is the ruthlessness of Nolan, nor does he feel like he can be a very threatening villain. He did play a fun one, namely the Penguin in The Batman.
Tumblr media
Really my main concern is The Penguin, as he is returning for his show and likely The Batman Part II. I'd prefer someone not as known for wearing the costume of such an iconic character.
2. Joel Edgerton
Tumblr media
I feel like everyone forgets about good ol reliable Joel Edgerton.
If we want a villain with brutality, Edgerton can bring it. He can rock a mustache, he's played multiple convincing villains and could really make the role his own. He's held his own against power houses like DiCaprio and Maguire in Gatsby.
Tumblr media
He's even played a few good guys, namely Uncle Owen in Obi-Won Kenobi.
Tumblr media
The great thing about Edgerton is he falls so deep in the role, people forget it's him. It may be good to have an actor smaller than the role he's playing, but with a skill to match Simmons.
My main concern is very simple, he's 5'10". I'm sure we can make him seem bigger, but other than, he seems evil, untrustworthy. He often plays characters who are darker or troubled. Can he play 100% heroic? Or atleast faking heroic?
I think he'd do a fantastic job, but there's one more guy I'm itching to see put on the red and white.
1. Joel Kinnaman
Tumblr media
Takeshi Kovacs. Rick Flag. Alex Murphy.
Joel Kinnaman is one of my favorite actors working today.
I think Kinnaman has both the intensity and heroic nature to be a perfect Nolan. At 44, he is in the perfect age range we want. He is 6'2", and while I admit he is leaner than I would like, bulking up to play Nolan I think is very possible.
Tumblr media
He's got a great voice, can rock a mustache, play a convincing father, and has never truly donned a cape. He'd make a fantastic villain in a movie, and an even better hero once he joins the Coalition of Planets.
I think he'd add a different enough performance while being able to stand up to a great actor like Simmons. Joel Kinnaman is my ideal Omni-Man.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for reading! Please consider following, and check out my socials and other sites here! And let me know: Who do you want to see play Omni-Man in a live action Invincible?

APOLOGIESS FOR THE LATE REPLYY (RENDERING ANON HERE AGAIN PHEW) YOURE KIDDING ME ? I LOVE LISTENING TO OFHER PEOPLE's journey and story and READING YOURS WAS KINDAA SWEET AND INSPORING IN A WAY.. i feel tge pressure to create tge perfect art and it gets to me ngl.. but reading your process and your answer about yk the whole ai art thing.. i dont see why i even i want to compare myself with that level when my own style is kinda still developimg.. youe so rite! no one can take away the process the understanding you have of the colors ... the way you see your art blooming.. even ai would terribly fail at capturing it and i think tahts why your drawinsg are just so perfect bec they hold that creative aspect .. THERE IS YOU IN THEM!! (your lamguage is not am issue i assure you trust me i am not a native eng speaker myself..) *self patss!! WE RE DOING GREATT!! )
also its nice to speak to artists here i have lile one artist to artisy comversation here except you and i enjoyy our talks!! (hope youre not too overwhlemed by work and taking caree)
Brand of personality, creativity, business👇🏻☕️💞
Please do not apologize! Life is so fast and I am also sorry that I don't always have time to respond on time! I couldn't even find the time to draw orders in the last few days, because I had a lot of other work to do.
But I am really happy from every conversation we have🌸(*´◡`*)🌸Your words are so kind that my heart breaks! This is something I will try to keep in my memory forever💖
I hope that you direct such words of support to yourself🍵🌿💗 And I want to support you as well! I have not been in your shoes and I will never know what you are going through, but I will be rooting for youଘ(੭ˊ꒳ˋ)੭✨
I understand how suffocating the pressure of art can be. I had to reach the peak of my nerves to start being calmer and more rational about it. And even now, if I don't have a job at some point, I can panic. (Although in recent months, thanks to all my clients, my panic is pleasant and only because I'm not in time. You are the best!)
I will try to entertain you and maybe you will be interested. I follow the illustrator Alexandra Dikaia and she has always emphasized the importance of authenticity in illustrations, taught how to create own brand of personality and thus realize myself. I'm still a bad student who never finishes her homework, haha. But I come back to them when I get "lost". Everything has its time. Now, because of the war, she was forced to move to England and met Professor Gordon Hamme. He is the author of the practical course "How to build a craft business" (How to create a business for creatives). I haven't had the opportunity to buy this book yet to review it, but the recommendations say it's a great book to look at creative business from both the personal brand and business side. It sounds like a lot of fun. And it helps to look at art not only as something unattainable, but also as something that can work and how it can work. I would also like to create my own merchandise store someday, because I love it when illustrations become practical objects. Oh, dream…
I'm still fascinated to see that someone has my drawing hanging in their home or as their avatar or something! Friends, if you ever send me a photo of your room with my drawing on it, you should know that this photo will remain in my phone forever. Haha.
О! And if anyone has any recommendations for interesting and useful literature for creative people, please share, I'd love to read it and maybe someone else will find it useful too.
Thank you again for this message! Take care of yourself and have a good rest, I always enjoy talking to you! See you soon☆⌒ヽ(*'、^*)chu

Meet the Cast of Toy Story: A Guide to the Beloved Characters
Since its release in 1995, Toy Story has become one of the most beloved animated movie franchises of all time. The story of a group of toys who come to life when their owner isn't around has captivated audiences of all ages and inspired countless spin-offs and merchandise. But while the toys themselves are the stars of the show, the talented voice actors behind them have played an essential role in bringing these beloved characters to life. Here's a guide to the cast of Toy Story, and the actors who gave them their voices.
Tumblr media
Meet the voice actors of Toy Story
Toy Story, the beloved animated movie franchise, has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with its imaginative storytelling and lovable characters. One of the key elements that make these characters so memorable is the talented voice cast behind them. Let's take a closer look at some of the incredible individuals who bring our favorite animated friends to life.
Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear
Tim Allen, best known for his role in Home Improvement, has been the voice of Buzz Lightyear since the first Toy Story movie in 1995. Through four installments and counting, his energetic presence brings charm to Pixar's flagship franchise. Allen's unique delivery style perfectly captures the essence of Buzz Lightyear, with a mix of enthusiasm, heroics, pridefulness, silliness, and friendship. He has become synonymous with the character, and fans couldn't imagine anyone else voicing this iconic space ranger action figure.
Tom Hanks as Woody
Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks has been the voice of cowboy doll Woody since the first Toy Story movie in 1995. Hanks' voice inflections convey warmth, protectiveness, nervousness, regret, selflessness, love, and camaraderie, embodying Andy's loyal companion. His distinctive voice has become synonymous with Woody, and it's difficult to imagine anyone else bringing this iconic character to life. Hanks reprised his role for all four main Toy Story movies, as well as the short film "Toy Story That Time Forgot" released before Christmas 2014.
John Ratzenberger as Hamm
Legendary actor John Ratzenberger joined the original voice talent roster as porcelain crab bank toy Hamm. Appearing in multiple Pixar films, including Monsters Inc., WALL-E, Brave, Finding Dory, The Good Dinosaur, Incredibles 2, and Toy Story 4, Ratzenberger has become a trusty sidekick and memorable supportive figure at Pixar. Hamm's snarky nature gets balanced out through dedication to pals and occasionally revealing insecurities too. Thanks to John Ratzenberger, Hamm has become a fan favorite character that adds humor and depth to the Toy Story universe.
Annie Potts as Bo Peep
Annie Potts lends her voice to the beloved character Bo Peep, the porcelain shepherdess and Woody's love interest. Potts brings a sense of warmth, strength, and independence to the character, making Bo Peep a role model for young girls. She first voiced the character in the original Toy Story movie and reprised her role for Toy Story 4. Bo Peep's reimagined look in Toy Story 4, along with Potts' excellent voice acting, brought a fresh perspective to the character that fans loved.
Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head
Don Rickles was the voice of Mr. Potato Head throughout the Toy Story movies until his death in 2017. His sharp wit and sarcastic humor brought an edge to the character that fans loved. Rickles' passing left a void in the Toy Story franchise, but his contributions to the movies will always be remembered.

Batman ‘89
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Terugkeer
Denny O’Neil was wederom schrijver.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anton Furst
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman ‘89

Quran - The Cure
Al-Hasan al-Basri (رحمه الله) divided those who carry the Quran into categories.
He said, ‘The reciters of the Quran are of three types:
a) Those who take it as merchandise with which they ply their trade
b) Those who recite its words but fail to comply with its injunctions, they use it to lord over the people of their land and rely on it to ascend to position of authority. They are many who fall into this category, may Allah make their number small!
c) Those who treat the Quran as a cure and apply it to heal the ailments of their hearts. They recite it in their places of devotion and attain tranquillity, they weep in their hooded cloaks, and they are overcome with fear and sombreness. It is for their sake that Allah sends down the rain and it is through them that Allah confers victory against the enemy. By Allah this category is rarer than red gold’

just finished rewatching toy story 1 thru 3 over the past few days, wanted to share my thoughts:
i love these movies a whole lot. the first 2 hold a bunch of nostalgia for me because i was A Baby when 2 came out and when i was also A Baby i would just watch our VHS copy of toy story 1 over and over again. this also makes me the exact age group to be emotionally destroyed by toy story 3, which came out just as i was entering high school and hit really close to home
individual thoughts:
toy story: the first thing i noticed was it still looks really nice even watching in 2019!! which i think is kind of spectacular for the first feature-length computer-animated film. it no doubt helps that the plot is mostly focused on little plastic dolls without realistic hair or clothing to animate but the semi-”cartoon” art direction means the human characters also look pretty nice without going too far into the uncanny valley.
also, the plot is WAY darker than i remember?? not because of sid and all the body horror toys, but because for like half of the movie woodys friends think hes an actual (toy) murderer carrying around the severed arm of his victim (!!) like, its hilarious, but also wow theres a LONG way to go between there and the climax of toy story 3.
the soundtrack is probably my favorite of the bunch. part of that is probably nostalgia but i just really like the consistency of having randy newman singing every song. it sort of elevates him to part of the story, like an omniscient narrator singing woodys (and later buzzs) inner monologue. 2 (and especially 3) didnt have as many musical numbers, which i can understand with a shift to a larger-scale approach to storytelling, but i really like the feeling it gives number 1. “you got a friend in me” is an obvious classic thats been remixed and brought back in just about every piece of toy story media im aware of, but “strange things” and “i will go sailing no more” deserve just as much recognition and praise. there just isnt a weak number among them
toy story 2: heres where the story started getting bigger and more existential, which basically becomes the new direction of the series. which makes sense! this one released 4 years after the first, and while theres no real timeskip in the story (maybe 6 months?) it had been a little while since we last saw woody and the gang. everybody in the real world had gotten older, and with the turn of the millennium approaching, the theme of impermanence loomed large in the collective unconscious. well, maybe not in my unconscious, because i was 2. but its really interesting as kind of a “time capsule” to what people were thinking about as the 90s came to a close.
so toy story 2 was a little more grounded, a little more focus on the human world, but it was also more fantastical in its presentation. the opening “video game” sequence (which still looks amazing!!) and woodys nightmare (”i dont wanna play with you anymore...”) show the animators at pixar really found their groove and started getting experimental. and to great result!! the fantasy sequences are a lot of fun and help 2 really stand out.
i would be remiss not to mention jessies flashback song here. its something else they hadnt really done in the first film and i think it really works. jessie in this film unfortunately doesnt get to do much other than fight with woody about whether he should stay or go (except for when she saves him in the end) but this song makes her character work. it also helps that it destroys me every time
also i think this is the movie that gave me an appreciation for the acting of kelsey grammer. i dont really agree with his politics (i also dont know specifically what they are) but he is a damn fine actor and gives the prospector a very genuinely intimidating edge after his heel turn. the casting really makes the character here, but thats nothing new for toy story-- every voice works. if i were the casting director, i probably wouldnt have pulled erudite kelsey grammer for a character named “stinky pete,” but as it is now i couldnt imagine him voiced by anyone else.
the last thing about toy story 2 is it feels like there were a lot more pop culture references? at least as far as i noticed. there are apparently even more than i noticed but i caught on to the “also sprach zarathustra” riff in the opening, and the jurassic park rearview mirror gag. and of course the extended star wars reference with zurg vs. utility belt buzz (and i guess zurg in general.) the references are cute and mostly unobtrusive but really i could take or leave them.
oh yeah also al is hilarious. just this rude, neurotic businessman whos incredibly self-important for the owner of a minor(?) toy store chain. hes such a puffed-up jerk, every time hes on-screen is a delight
toy story 3: this one kills me to death. i always get misty-eyed during “when somebody loved me” but the ending of 3 where andy introduces his toys to bonnie and plays with them one last time made me sob the first time i watched it. and it still does! thats the long game right there, thats the payoff of over 10 years loving these characters. its an emotional ketchup bomb, everything gets all messy and soggy and sweet. hopefully 4 can follow up, but im not really worried about that-- ive heard some good things. damn, its been 9 years since this movie came out, though! it really doesnt feel all that long, but i guess i havent been doing all that much
i actually dont know if i have much else to say about 3. the opening with the re-imagining of the previous films openings (woody versus one-eyed bart, buzz and woody vs. the evil dr. porkchop) is a highlight, although theres a conspicuous lack of bo peep. ive heard she has a big part in 4, but it was kind of weird to see a lot of toys missing and their absence (mostly) glossed over after the first few minutes. i miss r.c. and lenny, but i get they wanted to narrow down the cast so all of them could get in on the plot.
speaking of which, the escape scene is great too. its kind of a crystallizing moment of how close these characters are, and how well they work together. it reminds me a lot of the escape from sids house in the first movie, but there woody was working with sids body-horror toys and seemed to strike up a rapport with them bizarrely quickly. (speaking of which, i miss those toys! their designs were super cool, but i cant imagine they got much merchandise, especially babyface with the sharp, metal spider legs.) here, though, woody and the gang cooperate the best they ever have, and it really paints a picture of how close theyve become over the years, and justifies the emotional climax in the landfill. this is what i was talking about when i said i was surprised how dark toy story 1 got! these toys all hated woodys guts back then for what they thought he did to buzz. they kicked him out of a moving truck! its just weird to think about that conflict between them when you know how long they end up sticking together. but thats, like, neat, so its ok. it feels earned, its just kind of crazy in hindsight.
toy story 3 was also obviously made long after the first two-- by comparison, the lighting is way more sophisticated, the humans are a lot more detailed. theres just a lot more detail In General. the main cast is, like, super dirty for the middle 90% of the film, and it feels like, yeah, We Have This Technology Now. we can render so many individual glitter sprinkles suck to hamms ass and they will be in every single scene. the “fur tech” on lotso and buster is also an obvious clue, especially in the flashback to lotso trudging through the rain back to his owners house. its like “look! we can make this teddy bear SO wet!” and wow! yeah! you did! so wet!
lotso himself is also an interesting villain in terms of sheer bastardness. he is just a huge jerk. he could have hit that button so easily! and he was so mean to the baby! but at the same time hes a great character in how he slowly “changes” throughout the movie. he is kind of an obvious “pixar ‘twist’ villain” but again, the amazing performance by ned beatty really saves him. also he does get a nice comeuppance at the end, which was necessary because hes really the biggest villain in the series so far. hes knowingly malicious and doesnt have any greater motive, hes just an embittered megalomaniac who (apparently) has sent other toys to be broken, thrown away, and incinerated at the landfill. he honestly deserves worse than being strapped to the front of a truck but it works for a family movie.
i have a couple more thoughts on 3 (i guess i did have a fair amount of stuff to say about it) but im getting tired of writing. the music is good as usual, but the vocal stuff being entirely back-loaded (in the credits) is a bit disappointing since ive always been a fan of the songs, but i get that they were going for something different. the jokes about ken being, uh, ‘flamboyant’ felt out of place, mostly the one at the end (”uh, buzz? barbie didnt write this”) because it comes from one of the gang and not unnamed lotso goon #3, but i guess its pretty tame in the scheme of things.
overall im really looking forward to seeing what 4 does with the series. whew!

Three Types of Reciters
The reciters of the Qur’an are of three types:
Those who take it as merchandise with which they ply their trade.
Those who recite its words but fail to comply with its injunctions, they use it to lord over the people of their land and rely on it to ascend to positions of authority.  There are many who fall into this category, may Allah make their number small!
Those who treat the Qur’an as a cure and apply it to heal the ailments of the hearts.  They recite it in their places of devotion and attain tranquility, they weep in their hooded cloaks, and they are overcome with fear and somberness.  It is for their sake that Allah sends down the rain and it is through them that Allah confers victory against the enemy.  By Allah this category is rarer than red gold.
— al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī [d 110H/728CE]

Quran - The Cure
Al-Hasan al-Basri (‎رحمه الله) divided those who carry the Quran into categories.
He said, ‘The reciters of the Quran are of three types:

b) Those who recite its words but fail to comply with its injunctions, they use it to lord over the people of their land and rely on it to ascend to position of authority.

Toy Story 2 (1999)
Back to the toys! What a fun revisit! Toy Story 2 is that rare sequel that improves upon its predecessor in its art, humor, storytelling, character development, and heart. This is the film that solidified Pixar’s place in movie-making history. Its release was the moment everyone knew that this company was going to continue to be wildly successful for decades.
While the original Toy Story and A Bug’s Life were both fun, lighthearted children’s romps (with enough charm to entertain the adults), this is the first time we see Pixar transcend the typical kids’ movie genre into something truly timeless and relatable for all ages: a glimpse into what Pixar would continue to produce time and time again.
The movie starts out in a tone familiar to its predecessor. We see Rex playing a video game that features Buzz in a battle with his nemesis Zurg – a fun nod to Star Wars for the adults in the theater. So we’ve got our gang of the lovable Rex, Mr. Potato Head, Slinky, Hamm, Buzz and Woody back together for the kiddos and enough pop culture references to keep the grown-ups tuned in.
*Side Note* There’s a very funny pop culture reference of Buzz being thrown into one of those 3D pin-pression toys (the kind where you can leave an imprint of your hand, or if you were a gross little kid like me, your face), and it leaves an imprint of him like Han being frozen in carbonite – a reference I definitely missed as a kid. And there’s another good one where Rex is chasing the rest of the gang in the toy car, and Mr. Potato Head looks back at him in the side mirror – a nod to Jurassic Park, of course, which is supplemented by the fact that our villain, Al of Al’s toy barn, is voiced by Wayne Knight, who played the bumbling DNA thief in Jurassic Park.
But soon this story becomes much more than just an adventure tale or buddy comedy. After a heroic rescue attempt at a yard sale, Woody finds himself in the clutches of Al, a toy collector who wants to make big bucks by re-uniting the Woody’s Roundup Gang – which we come to find was a classic black and white kids’ show whose merchandise are now collectors’ items, with Woody as the grand prize. We meet Jessie, Bullseye, and Prospector Pete for the first time. They’re being boxed up and shipped to Japan for display in a Toy museum. Woody must now face an internal conflict of whether to return to an old life or start a new one.
Woody becomes much more likable in this movie. His motivations, desires, and torn feelings are relatable and very human. Because Andy left him home from Cowboy Camp after accidentally ripping his arm, Woody feels understandably hurt and unwanted, which contribute to a change of heart about going to the museum. This is the first time we see Woody grapple with the fact that childhood is temporary – that Andy will someday grow up and lose interest in his toys – that loss of innocence and coming to terms with one’s own mortality that becomes a strong theme throughout the Toy Story franchise. Woah. That’s deep for a kids’ movie.
Where this really comes to light is through Jessie’s song “When She Loved Me.” This one’s a tear-jerker for sure. Jessie had a little girl that loved her too – but that girl grew up and left Jessie behind. It’s then that Jessie’s story starts to resonate with Woody, and he begins to believe that Andy left him behind, too. Thankfully, Buzz and the gang quickly come to the rescue to remind him that although childhood innocence is impermanent, it is still worth experiencing and should not be let go too soon. Buzz becomes the voice of reason this time, him being the one that reminds Woody that he is a toy. That his purpose is to make a child happy, not to be ogled or admired behind glass. The little details throughout the movie reflective of this theme are also worth noting – for example, when we meet a shiny new Buzz in the toy store, you can see how Andy’s Buzz has some scratches and dirt on him that are evidence of toy well-loved. Ultimately, this is what Woody chooses for himself too, and it all works out, because Andy’s still a kid, and he hasn’t forgotten Woody. Woody will eventually choose that new life for himself later in the franchise (think Toy Story 4), but it’s not time yet.
I love the character development in this movie. You see Woody becoming more sympathetic, and less motivated by being the center of attention. He goes out of his way to help Jessie become part of the gang and helps her realize that she can be loved by a child again. We see Buzz become a voice of reason – which is hilariously emphasized by the shiny new Buzz in the toy store who thinks he is a space ranger, like our Buzz did in the original film, and hilariously wonders about how he could have been that irritating. We get some new characters, like Jessie, who could be seen as a bit selfish at the start for wanting to pull Woody away from his life just so she doesn’t have to be in storage anymore – but then you come to truly understand and empathize with her through her song, because you were a kid once too who grew out of your toys. These thematic elements and iconic characters are truly what makes Pixar great.
Final thoughts:
Toy Story 2 improves on everything from its humor to its storytelling to its characters and will forever hold its place as a classic.
Fun fact:
When Barbie is giving the gang a tour of Al’s Toy Barn and they cruise through the Buzz Lightyear aisle, she says “In 1995, shortsighted retailers did not order enough dolls to meet demand.” This is in reference to how after the first Toy Story film was released, toy stores didn’t anticipate how big the film would become, and they didn’t stock their shelves with enough merchandise.
Best character:
Woody redeems himself here. This is the Woody we know and love.
Tear-Meter: 2/5 teardrops. “When She Loved Me” definitely activated the tear ducts, but not giving it a full 5 because some of Pixar’s later films have even bigger emotional impacts.
Current ranking: 1/3
Move over Toy Story 1, we have a new front-runner.
1. Toy Story 2
2. Toy Story
3. A Bug’s Life
