okay, FOLKS! time for an other long ass post!
SO! I've seen so many people complaining about how the only gay people in the society are sam and grizz and let me just remind yall that sam and grizz are the only two CANONICALLY gay people in the society. now I'm not talking headcanons here, no. BUT, considering at the start of the show the only person who was openly gay was Sam, I would assume he was the only one to come out BEFORE the taking. Now, Ham was a small religious community, we don't get indications about the community being extremely homophobic or conservative, but I would assume not everyone wad fine with it, especially if you consider how Sam said in (I think episode 2) "I'll die a good Christian cause I'll never act on my homosexuality" meaning that the religious propaganda must have been strong in Ham. Now, after the taking Grizz is the only other canonically gay character BUT he doesn't come out to anyone but Gwen (and Sam, obviously), instead saying that he was "waiting to come out in college". SO, what I'm getting at folks, is that there is endless possibilities for the writers to explore more closeted and afraid lgbtqa+ characters in s2, and I'm personally gonna hold my horses until they disappoint me. Tbh, I think it would make for a great plot device to explore how these, potentially lgbt youth, are handling being stuck with their high school classmates (aka the reason, in part, of their being closeted, like Grizz) for, potentially, forever and how that affects their behavioral patterns in New Ham.
Characters like that to me are, Kel, Becca, Martin(? sorry I'm not sure if this is his name, but the black guy in Harry's house that went to the expedition with Griz) and, of course, Luke.
