As I am sure many of you know, the 1928 version of an iconic fictional American character has entered the public domain this year.
Yes, the first depiction of the Green Giant appeared in print in 1928, a single image of him caressing his “great big tender peas,” at a time before his skin was green.

Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan Video Game Leaked (2009)
Dr. Manhattan, one of the story’s characters, goes around naked for most of the movie (and book). Manhattan is a rather large male whose skin glows a neon blue – henceforth, there’s quite a lot of big blue ding-dong throughout the film.
Some people apparently feel that Watchmen wasn’t wangtacular enough, though – and their video of a retro-style Watchmen game starring Manhattan in the vein of Streets of Rage … well, let’s just say that it serves to remind us that no matter how mediocre Watchmen: The End Is Nigh was, it could always be worse.
Really, I think the video says it all. The video says more than enough, actually. Just remember, when you’re watching Dr. Manhattan cross laser-schlongs with the similarly-neon Jolly Green Giant, think about it: Somebody actually took the time to animate all of this. Their hard work (rock-hard, perhaps?) is our gain … well, a kind of gain.

A parody video, Watchmen—Dr. Manhattan Video Game Leaked, was posted to liquidgeneration.com in 2009, and later to YouTube. Presented as footage froma vintage-style eight-bit scrolling video game, the video features Dr. Manhattan and the Jolly Green Giant dueling with giant penises.

In order to keep my Tumblr alive I am simply going to post all of my random thoughts and no one can stop me
On that note the summer after Unus Annus ended I was out shopping when I noticed Green Giant corn. And I had an idea. So we bought the corn for me to drink like Mark did. I never got around to it.
One fateful day, however, this past school year, we had run out of lunch meats for sandwiches to pack for lunch. And I knew it was time. So yeah I brought an entire can of corn, a can opener, and a spoon to school that day for lunch.
Don't believe Mark, eating straight sweet corn out of the can *alongside* the corn water is AWFUL. After one bite I had to choke the rest down. Mind you I didn't eat the whole can that day because it was several servings worth and I don't think my stomach could have handled any more corn. But I ate most of it, I assure you. I still remember the horror on my one friend's face every time I raised the spoon to my mouth.
I'm a little disappointed I didn't see more people do double-takes when they saw I had an entire can of corn and a can opener with me. Maybe someday I'll post a redraw of the video I had someone take as proof to my brother I really did it.
(Also sorry I'm not very good at formatting)

Green Giant Comics #1 (and only) 1940.
No, this is not the guy shilling the frozen peas. This was some schmoe named Brentwood (no first name given) who, in a gimmick that pre-dated the Silver Age-version of the Atom, had a belt buckle that he used to enlarge to giant-size. While from the cover it appears ole Greenie is bullet-proof, there's no indication of that inside.
This was Green Giant's first and only appearance. The story, however, gave the impression that he'd been around for awhile ("--outside the exchange Brentwood touches his belt--and THE GREEN GIANT LIVES AGAIN!"). Certainly no one - the cops, the crooks, or anyone else - knew who he was. You'd think people would remember a giant wearing a green onesie leaping around the city (in the story his legs were bare).
Look carefully at the cover and you will see there is no price. That's because this book was an experiment, never meant to be distributed. The printing company, Moreau Publications Inc., had a press that was idle. They wanted to see if they could use it to print comic books and make some money. They could not get the colors to separate correctly on the interior pages, though. The experiment was deemed a failure, and the comic book was abandoned. Some of the copies that were printed were distributed around New York City (the printer was across the river in Orange, N.J.), but the book was never sent to newsstands for sale.
