I’m a fan of both. But I’ve been a fan of Ginger Snaps longer and I also enjoyed Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed. So I would probably go with Ginger Snaps.

Plight of the No-cissist

I know you’ve all gotten one of these. The inevitable text from that one really big nutjob you made the mistake of dating just a little too long. The one where he tries to get back together.. THAT one.

This is the tale of one who I dated, and ultimately thanked heaven for having that bullet deflected for me.

I think this requires a little background -- and I’ll give it to you.. but I went through the text conversation and I filled in some of the unfiltered thoughts that were going through my mind while I was receiving these texts from him. So I may just sprinkle some of those in here, too.

CAVEAT: I was drunk. I know, you’ll read this and say, “but you aren’t even typing badly” -- well you obviously don’t know me very well.. because, even when drunk, I’m really good at Englishing. Probably a little better than when I’m sober. Not only was I drunk, I was on public transit going home from a really fun evening in the city where Mr. Bananacakes hadn’t even remotely crossed my mind!

SO I met this guy on Match. I should have known from his profile pictures -- where he’s ALWAYS looking at the image on his phone screen so all of his photos look like he doesn’t know where the camera is -- I should have known. But the look on his face.. he seemed so impressed with himself. I don’t know why I didn’t listen to my first instinct, but I accepted. We went out and while we were waiting in line for the movie, he had this look on his face. I now know it’s the “I’m totally going to kiss you” face -- because I’m starting to recognize it in others but THAT’S a different blog entry all on its own.

Anyway, fast-forward, we saw each other for about two weeks or so..maybe three? It was okay, he was a weird kisser -- he never used his lips, he just came at me with his mouth open like a bird trying to feed it’s baby. And he didn’t take subtle instruction well.. I tried to show him how to kiss me but he just came back at me with that gaping pie-hole.. eesh.

Sorry, we’re fast-forwarding.. he sent me flowers and a stuffed bear, we talked for hours, we fooled around one night in his backyard while it was raining (hey, it was a moment -- don’t pretend like you never did). He even took me to CHURCh with him! Then one morning, I called him because he had sent me a weird text in the middle of the night. Next thing I know, he’s screaming at me that I’m playing games with him and I’m making things up to mess with his head and I don’t even have a job.. then he went all unintelligible, shouting to his sister in the background to “come look at this...” then the phone went dead. He unfriended and blocked me on FB. All in the course of about 3 minutes.

I had no idea what had just happened. I sent him one final text saying, “when you calm down enough to discuss this like adults, let’s chat.” No response. I deleted him from my phone and moved on.

About a month goes by when I suddenly get this:

Now, you’re going to see the purple writing -- that’s my drunk inside voice talking -- and I know it sounds really salty and angry and scorned-woman sounding. If you’re too sensitive for that, well I’m at peace with that.. so yes.

That message comes as I’m getting on the bus to go home from my fun evening out. I was feeling a little sassy and like I wasn’t having it.

He wanted to give me a whole line of inane and “harmless” excuses about why he did what he did.. “oh, I’m working a lot” “oh, I was not being patient..” blah blah blah..

For real, I wasn’t having it. I am just drunk enough at this point to really let him have it.. but I didn’t. I really must endeavor to offer mis-treaters the same consideration that they offered me. We probably all should. But I let him blather..

I was really galled! I kept thinking -- wait, have you ACTUALLY convinced yourself you have a snowball’s chance in hell with me right now? But okay, I’ll play along..

Yeah -- you really should just delete my number and go spread your crazy someplace else.

I was more gentle with him than he deserved. I told him that he hurt me and betrayed my trust and no, this, WE, this is not happening. And let’s not even ADDRESS the bigger issue of his poor and inconsistent SPELLING! That’s right, gingersnap, just keep pushing ALL my buttons..

And here I am, STILL being way too nice to this cheeseball.

For real, guys and gals, when someone takes a big, steamy dump all over you, there is no more propriety. You henceforth have the right and responsibility to unleash hell upon them.

This continued on -- he was so thankful to me for “helping” him by speaking to him. At one point, he asked me, “how bad did it get?”

Now, I need you to realize that this is not an expression of concern for me. This is actually him asking how much did he hurt me. He was feeding his innate narcissism by gauging the pain I felt over “losing” him.

Then I started to lose MY patience (at last). Excuse after excuse. “oh, I’m depressed.” “oh, I was in a horrible past relationship.” “oh my mommy didn’t breast feed me so I don’t know how to value a woman.” Right. Nobody else ever has any issues that could possibly be as bad as yours are.

He wasn’t even able to REMEMBER what he did or why it would have hurt me so much.

He had to ask me.

Finally, after much back and forth, we came to this:
