Marbled Monday
It's been a minute since we last posted for Marbled Monday but we're back with an exciting combed French curl or snail pattern! This pattern was created by dropping colors onto the water bath, creating a gel-git (or zig-zag) pattern with a stylus, then combing it once perpendicular to the gel-git with a fine-toothed comb creating a pattern called nonpareil, and finally using a wide-toothed comb to create the characteristic curly swirly snails. This particular pattern uses blue, maroon, cream, and yellow. The marbled paper was used for both the front and back covers and the endpapers of the book.
The book inside the lovely marbled binding is a 1779 ninth edition of Sketches from Nature, which features "upwards of one hundred portraits, or characters, of the most conspicuous persons in the kingdom." This edition was printed for George Kearsly (or Kearsley, 1739-1790) and was written by an anonymous author. It is a satirical piece with humorous profiles of well-known figures and so the names are all printed with blanks in the middles (ie: Mr. G_____s), but in our copy all of the names have been filled in by an industrious owner.

Second post for today, a little snippet of my current WIP, a modern NewTina AU.
This one takes place a few weeks after Newt's birthday, when Newt and Leta reconnect after haven't seen each other since highschool.
It's not the best one, I wrote that on Wednesday, but that's all I have about Newt's birthday for now...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, they had walked to an art gallery, and an almost religious silence had suddenly fallen between them as they began to admire the few pieces they could see from the outside.
“So, you say your work is inspired by hers ?” had finally asked Newt, in a whisper, as his body was almost shivering as all the colors engulfed him, scratched on his skin and tinkled in his ears. Leta just nodded her head, quietly, almost imperceptibly, making him add “Then, I’ really love to see your work. Really. If you are agreeable, it goes without saying.”
Fighting against tears that would invade her eyes anyway, Leta hid them by rummaging through her purse, after another discrete nod. She took out a small package wrapped in some printed paper and gave it to Newt, all smiles.
“Happy birthday, Newt, I can’t believe I almost forgot !”
“Aww... Thank you. You didn’t have to, you know.”
“Well, I wanted to. And… it’s really nothing. Open it !”
As if it were the most precious thing on Earth, and maybe it was, Newt opened the paper, this symbol of their renewed friendship, with caution and delicacy, to discover a tiny stuffed animal which looked like a platypus. Of course. He burst out laughing. A brilliant, exploding laugh, as vibrating as the oscillation of the crystal. “You didn’t…” he managed to say between two uncontrolled hiccups.
“Oh, yes, I totally did. Even if I wanted to, I could never forget about the platypus, and the fact that for years people thought he was a chimera. Or that he’s the only mammal to reproduce by eggs, and that, during the reproductive period the male is venomous, or... No, Newt, I don’t think I can forget. I don’t think I won’t ever forget… So, YES, I did.”
Newt blushed, hoping that the pale light of the night would hide this. This species had been one of his fixations during highschool. Hard one. “Thank you Leta. And sorry about that by the way.” His hands were methodically patting the little toy, running through its fur, his eyes locked on his own hands, his thoughts soothed by the soft and almost tickling sensation on the tip of his fingers.
She brushed off his words with her hand. “Don’t be. That’s some nice piece of trivia. Oh, he needs a name …”
It didn’t take long for Newt to decide. “Shaw. As George Kearsley Shaw who was the first scientist to make a description of the platypus at the end of the 19th century.”
“I see.” she laughed gently. “Now, I count on you to give me updates about him. So you won’t wait another more than ten years to talk to me again. We’re friends. I guess. I hope. I want pictures of him. I hope he’ll travel. I hope he’ll travel as much as this garden gnome in this French movie…”
“Amelie ?”
“Yes, that’s the one !”
“Well, I’m not an air hostess, and I don’t know any.”
“So you’ll have to travel, as you once said you would...”

Tuesday 23 April 1839
8 5/..
12 55/..
Rainy morning – had Mr. Shackleton (A- had him first) at 8 ¾ - she for ¼ hour and I for rather longer – dressed – breakfast [at] 9 ¾ in 35 minutes – then had Mr. Harper – before settling with him about windows etc. wrote and sent by George note as follows to ‘Mr. Gray junior Petergate’ ‘Mrs. Lister and Miss Walker would be glad to see Mr. Gray at 12 at noon today, if that hour will not be inconvenient to him – George Inn Tuesday morning 23 April 1839’ – Note in answer would come at 11 ½ having an engagement soon after 12 – settled with Mr. Harper about windows and a long list of items to be done in our absence so that we might find all comfortable on our return – (vide rough book entry of all directions) – Mr. Gray came at 11 ½ and staid till 12 20/.. – old G-‘s money when paid in to be invested in the funds – so that there will be no difficulty about A-‘s paying it in a little sooner or later – by the way sooner was not hinted at – my estate safe from the mortgage till someone should come into possession who could cut off the entail, and pay off the mortgage – the money not likely to be wanted during Miss Jane Prestons’ life – and if wanted Mr. G- will transfer the mortgage without giving me any trouble whether I may be in England or abroad – desired him to prepare a little codicil to my will giving A- and him as executors and trustees the discretion to sell all or part of my property in H-x to pay off the mortgage – he gave me a short form of agreement for letting the colliery from year to year – to see him again on our return from North cave – he will be at home all the day on Thursday – but not after 10 tomorrow morning – an agreement to take requires only a 20/. stamp – an agreement to let requires a stamp according to the amount of rent; but if the amount is altogether uncertain, vide Kearsleys’ tax tables what the stamp will be – something considerable – Mr. G- went at 12 20/.. and then seeing that we could not get off till Thursday wrote and sent as follows (on ½ sheet of note paper) to Mrs. Oddy, Shibden hall, H-x to be delivered immediately’ York – Tuesday morning ‘23 April 1839. Mrs. Oddy – we shall not be at home till Thursday, but expect to be there on that day in the course of the evening – you need not sit up late than eleven o’clock at night – we shall not want dinner – A. Lister’ – kind note this morning from Miss Henrietta Crompton enclosing the card of ‘the Miss Cromptons’ for A- regretting that the rainy morning prevented her calling – had just written so far at 12 50/.. – then did up our imperials etc. and got all ready for being off to Northcave, to see Marian – had ordered up luncheon (our cold loin of roast mutton of yesterday and bread and butter) at 2 and had nearly done when IN. came soon after 2 and staid above an hour – determined to go abroad this summer but unfixed when and where – will be away the winter – off at 3 48/.. to return to dinner tomorrow – but took all with us – changed horses at Barnby moor at 5 10/.. – passed the Inn (Devonshire arms) at Market Weighton at 6 ¼ - 6 miles from there to Mill cottage Northcave but they charged us 8 (at Barnby moor i.e. 6 miles B. moor to Market W- and 8 from there to N.C.) and it was 7 22/.. before we alighted at Marian’s door – I had not written – she had no notice of our going – she was upstairs – lucky – Mrs. Button dangerously ill; and she had only left her and returned home yesterday – the girl woman servant did not know me – I gave no name – Marian soon came down looking thin, and pale, and nervous – I soon set all parties at ease – I had done right to give no notice – Marian owned if I had written she had not have known what to do – should have feared she could not make us comfortable – should have sent to Hull for things......... the bed had been slept in last night – no trouble to re-sheet it and light the fire – we had [preferred] Russian tea and good coffee and bread and butter and toast etc. and reindeers’ tongue and all very comfortable in a few minutes and I believe poor Marian was very glad to see us – we never stirred till A- went upstairs to bed at 10 20/.. and I followed at 11 50/.. – talked over everything – It seems she did not expect A- to give £600 for Lee lane – thought it was only £500 she had bid before – Marian would have taken £550 as Mr. Parker knew – Mitchell had valued the place (coal and all) at £500 – all parties behaved very handsomely Marian in telling this and A- in rejoicing that she had the £600 to give as she thought the place worth it – Marian had had some trouble in determining but had at last made up her mind to sell HighRoyds – Mitchell’s valuation of it = £2268. odd – had told Mr. Parker to offer it to me first – and then to Holt at £2300 he having to pay for Copperas house which Marian bought and for which a tithe is now about to be made – but she would take £2,000 of
SH:7/ML/E/23/0027
me – no! no! sorry I could not give her the valuation – sorry I could not buy it – she wants £2400 for immediate use – but not necessitated to sell Highroyds at the moment as the £600 for Lee lane will pay the bank debt – had this money towards the end of last month – knows that borrowing at a bank (a new and said to be liberal bank at Northcave) costs one way or another 6p.c. – has £200 of Mrs. Button who cannot continue long, and Marian would like to be prepared to pay this off – expects a legacy but only of one hundred – the debts on Highroyds = £1600 – these 3 sums = £2400. Skelfler is at the same rent as in my fathers’ time – not quite £600 a year? or not more than £600 her present income net from £200 to £300 per annum – and yet she every year lays out money in marling etc. to say nothing of accidents – the great wind (7 January last) blew down the barn at the Grange – Butterworth end cost above £120 - £10 of damage done by the great wind at Highroyds (chimney blown down) – and she gives £20 a year to Mr. Edwards of Market W- for looking over the Skelfler estate seeing that the drains are kept open etc. for she herself receives the rent which she says are now paid at the day – I remonstrated on this overpayment to Mr. E- for doing nothing – yes! he would look after the barn buiding [building] up again – he said it was more than he expected but Marian herself offered it because Mr. Robinson the attorney employed by my father had had this sum (independent of law expense) for receiving rents and doing everything – Poor Marian – the thought of all this makes my heart ache – but what can I do – she will not hear of giving Mr. Edwards less – I said a professional land agent would go over the estate and note its state of management and repair – (its condition and value) 2 days per annum at 2 guineas a day and expense which could not exceed 3 guineas a day – I advised the letting the tenants farm in a proper husbandlike manner without her laying out one sixpence more and especially as she says the rents are very low – and in the case of Skelfler she is so persuaded of the hundreds that the tenant has in the land that when she made her will on going to Market W- on my fathers’ death (the summer of 1836) she willed that the tenant had the farm for ten years from that time at the rent he then paid – she said however that tho’ she had consulted Mr. Robinson about this (and she did not say he had made any objection) that the tenant himself knew nothing about it – I advised her to sell – the estate nets under £600 ( I should think from my remembrance of the outgoing drainage etc. etc. above £30 per annum and that the net income is about £560) she says (in spite of this hampering about the tenantright) she would not take less than £20,000 for it! How can I help her – advising is quite in vain – I urged her selling – said she might in a course of a few years (which I believe) make her income a clear 3500 a year on which, with her knife and fork at Shibden, she might live without being buried alive – Her cottage here is damp, and too near the mill-dam – (originally a paper mill, now a corn-mill) but pretty enough – the house is sufficient 4 rooms on a floor – 2 sitting rooms below with bedrooms over them and at the back good kitchen and pantries and rooms over them – a small cellar – a little sheltered nice bit of garden ground about 25 or more x 15 yards and a little island (perhaps 60 to 70 square yards) in the midst of the water on which island she grows her potatoes – good ones – the man who does her garden, finds her all seeds and sets, and does all, for £5 a year – he might suit me – he is to speak to me tomorrow – Clerk, too, of the parish church – ivy-covered and very picturesque – close to here, and to the entrance gate to Hotham (Mr. Burtons’) – Marian pays £20 a year and has all taxes paid for her – I congratulated her on her escape from her though of marriage – I thought she had been much mistaken in her judgment in this matter – and Abbott not a gentleman mentioned his having called here   she did not explain how the thing was off  I conclude he let it die a natural death she shewed neither pain nor pleasure on the subject    but said it was all off – Light gentle rain in the morning fair the greater part of the afternoon – poor A- had thought me long but behaved very well about it she got into bed soon after my getting upstairs –

1828 Wednesday 7 May
6 40/60 11 55/60
At 8 1/2 hair cut by young Parsons - breakfast at 9 3/4 - immediately came in Mrs. and Miss Belcombe - in deep mourning for Colonel Milne, and both much affected - Mrs. B- [Belcombe] obliged to go out and walk about in the garden for some minutes - then Miss B- [Belcombe] obliged to do ditto - the former kissed and received me as usual, and I was attentive to her, but gravely so - Mr. D- [Duffin] observed I did not speak - said I was attentively listening to Mrs. B-'s [Belcombe's] account of their arrival last night - Mrs. D- [Duffin] observed I ate no breakfast, nor did I take 1/2 my usual breakfast - would not take Miss B-'s [Belcombe's] hint to follow her mother into the garden nor did I follow Miss B- [Belcombe] no observations were made when they were gone - very soon after came Dr. H.S.B- [Henry Stephen Belcombe], and staid perhaps about 1/2 hour - He and I, as usual - says Jephson thinks everybody has a liver complaint, that is the worst of him - M-'s [Mariana Lawton's] liver is torpid - her present being not well caused mentally - Dr. H.S.B- [Henry Stephen Belcombe] hardly gone when Ald[?]n Kilby was announced - had taken the liberty of coming with the reverend Randolph Marriott who was in great distress to solicit something from Mr. Duffin! said if one was to attend to every such call...but ended I found (I slank off) by giving a sovreign -
Called on Mrs. Anne and Miss Gage - out - then sat about 20 minutes with Mrs. and Miss Yorke - might have sat longer but Captain and Mrs. Hincks came in - to go to the Yorkes' tomorrow evening - then went over the bridge with Mr. and Mrs. D- [Duffin] and returned to see Mr. D- [Duffin] and Miss S.G- [Sophia Greenup] mount to take a ride! then out with Mrs. D- [Duffin] met the Miss Cromptons - to see them tomorrow - left my card for Mrs. Willey - and for Mrs. and the 2 Miss Bests, looked about the improvements in and about the minster - left my card for the Miss Salmonds, now Mrs. and Miss, and saw their greenhouse then looked about near the Kearsleys they asked us in, and we sat a little while - the house the Salmonds lived in - should have been taken down and the new deanery erected on the site, but Mrs. K- [Kearsley] would not give up her lease of 7 years, only 1 of them expired now - the deanery is therefore close by, and the offices will in future stand where the house should have stood - then to the H- [Henry] Belcombes' - above 1/2 hour there - Mrs. H.S.B- [Henry Stephen Belcombe] wants me to go to her as soon as she has a spare bed - Mrs. D- [Duffin] observed afterwards, she fancied the 2 Mrs. B-s [Belcombes] did not always hit it well together - of course, I would neither know nor fancy so - Mrs. B- [Belcombe] still seeming to wish to seem on the same terms as formerly with me - took a good deal of notice of my little goddaughter - had her on my knee some time - called at Fisher's - not at home then sat some time with Mrs. Gilbert Crompton - made one or 2 shoppings, and got back at 5 20/60 -
Dinner at 5 3/4 - wrote the ends and sent off (at 9 1/4) my letter (begun on Sunday) to my aunt 'Place neuve de la Madeleine, No. [Number] 2, Paris' - mention the following Horner has just lost his daughter - wait a few days - will tell him to send the teeth to Hammersley to be forwarded - must stay till 1 August to execute the deed of sale of the land for the new church - Northgate let 8 years at £84. George Robinson to have a building of 3 stories and 6 rooms estate £150 - shall be glad to be off for £200 - Filling up the square of the Stag's head house and building barn for Hopkin must wait - my father consents to turn the Cunnery into a farm - Washington's estate £400 - should be glad to be off for £500 - to get water for the house at Shibden from a fresh source - Cunnery plantation valued at £70 - replanting with oaks about £50 - getting down the pit hill about £20, or upwards, that the value of the wood will hardly suffice - worst thing, the road to branch off from Mitholm and go just behind or just in front of Lower brea into the new Northowram road - all the coal pulled at willy-hill pit (on account of the turnpike bar set in Godley lane) by which we lose about £30 an acre - all the roads thrown upon the towns - Southowram wants to lead stones down Pump lane, and also down Bairstow - no preventing it - my father and Marian gone yesterday to Market W- [Weighton] on account of the sale there of some of the canal shares - my father would have us come to England - 'climate appears to him a mere nothing' we might do very well at Shibden if we liked - I said the difficulties were greater than he imagined - He will sell the Hampstead if he can get 7 or 6 hundred pounds for it - had thought of selling it without even letting us know, because (he said to Marian) our hands were full enough already - said I would not give £600, and should be glad enough if he could get that price; for the 1/4 of it would be very useful - Mark Hepworth ill - called on Mrs. Kenny and Mrs. Wilcock - Mrs. K [Kenny] delighted with her letter and the porte alumette - her rent for the house E.R- [Eliza Raine] had in Savile row £27 per annum called at the vicarage - 'he is pleasant and gentlemanly enough and she a quiet sort of person who has evidently seen very little of the world' - do not think quite like my father about the tithes - Mr. Eden's money to be paid in October, and got at 4 3/4 p.c. [percent] from a trust - 'She would like to buy the manor' of Market W- [Weighton] thinks the d. [duke] of D- [Devonshire] may sell it, and his property there in the course of some time - It seems they do not clear 'more than £50 a year by the Skelfler Estate' - Marian's illness was typhus fever and infectious so that all were obliged to drink port wine and live well to avoid it -
Thomas brought back my letter - too late - Mr. D- [Duffin] and Miss Sophia Greenup gone to a small party at Mrs. Saltmarshes - Mrs. D- [Duffin] and I had tea at 9 1/4, and afterwards sat talking - she says they have fifteen hundred a year but he seems to give about three hundred a year to his family at his death a hundred a year to each of his two sisters and four nieces for life and in default of issue to revert to his nephews and their issue and in default of that to go his godson and great nephew William Duffin Oxley absolutely and forever the two nephews to have nothing during Mrs Ds [Duffins] life but at her death to share equally her jointure of seven hundred a year her own two hundred and fifty settled upon her brother and his family and the thousand she got lately she will give to Sophia G [Greenup] - a drop or 2 of rain before breakfast - afterwards dullish, but fine day -

Thursday, 25 April 1839
8 1/4
12 50/’’
Had our hair dressed (Shackleton) A-[Ann] and I from 8 3/4 to 9 35/’’ – Fine but dull morning – At 9 1/4 sent off by George note to ‘Mr. Gray junior Petergate’ written last night, as follows:
“Mrs. Lister will be glad to see Mr. Gray at eleven tomorrow morning – George Hotel. Wednesday evening 24 April 1839”
Breakfast at 10 1/2 to 11 – Then had Mr. Gray till 1 and Mrs. Duffin from 11 3/4 or before to 1 40/’’ – Had only just settled other matters before Mrs. Duffin came respecting will of Eliza Raine
While I went for our wills A[Ann] mentioned signing over her estate to me Mr. Gray to consider about it – what follows wass said in the evening:
Mr Gray is of opinion A[Ann] cannot sign over to me it would be a voluntary act and might be revoked set aside   and if I bought the property she would have the money to dispose of
Mrs Sutherlands giving all to her husband a different thing the law considered value received from a husband!
In short Mr. Gray said the thing he thought could not be done by A[Ann] to me My impression is that he does not wish it to be done or does not wish to do it
I fancy he doubts me a little in this matter    very well it was to be let alone
Mr. G-[Gray] read over rought draft of codicil to my will giving himself and A-[Ann] a power to sell my property in the township of H-x[Halifax] to liquidate debts mortgage or otherwise – Added a sentence to the colliery letting agreement paper enabling me to send my agents down into the pits, but could devise no means of getting rid of the tenants if they held over, but by ejectment –
Mrs. Duffin brought the letter from me to Mr. Duffin, in 1816, giving a copy of E.[Eliza] R-‘s[Raine’s] will saying it was useless to put Mr. D-[Duffin] to the expense of double postage by sending the original – Mrs. D-[Duffin] also brought some other letters relative to the subject all which we agreed she should now take back with her, and send in a parcel to Mr. Gray another day with a note from herself purporting that she committed these letters to his care, that they might be brought forward if necessary in the event of E.[Eliza] R-‘s[Raine’s] death during my lifetime, to substantiate as far as might be the evidene in favour of the will in my favour –
It was agreed also that I should send Mr. G-[Gray] a copy of my Diary of 28 June 1826 relating to the subject of my giving up the will to Mr. D-[Duffin] and that I should add to my letter the mention of any other circumstances or notes related to the subject that I might find on looking over my papers – I begged Mr. G-[Gray] not to let me according to the vulgar saying ‘throw good money after bad’ but as he agreed and had some chance of success and that I certainly had a leg to stand on”, in fact, a tolerably good chance, I had determined to try the the thing –
It seemed Mr. Jonathan Gray (on his taking the depositions which I am to send to his son and successor the present Mr. William G-[Gray] junior) thought I had some chance of success – I therefore authorized Mr. G-[Gray] to act for me, and in the event of E.[Eliza] R-‘s[Raine’s] death to begin by applying for letters of administration for me, whether I happened to be in England or not –
The income is £220 per annum of which £160 is paid to Dr. Belcombe for board and lodging and attendance at Clifton and £40 to Mrs. Duffin for clothes and any little extra indulgences, and there is a saving of £20 a year which remains in the bank where is now an accumulation of £300 – Mrs. D-[Duffin] seeming to begrudge this annual £20 unaccounted for to the bank out of which however is taken Mr. G-‘s[Gray’s] charge of £1.16.0 per annum for law expenses I proposed that 2 guineas a year should be paid to Mr. G-[Gray] and five pounds to the bank, and the rest to Mrs. Duffin, and that, nobody objecting, I should write to Mr. Robert Swann saying what I meant to do in the event of E.[Eliza] R-‘s[Raine’s] death and that thinking myself likely to come in for the property I proposed the above regulation – Mrs. D-[Duffin] asked what should be done with the surplus £300 – G-[Gray] and I agreed it should remain as it was and nothing be said about it –
Mr. G-[Gray] left us at 1 to come again in the evening at 5 1/2 and Mrs. D-[Duffin] took a glass of wine and biscuit and then walked with us, A-[Ann] and me, to Clifton to see E.[Eliza] R-[Raine] - walked there in 25 minutes (from 2 to 2 25/’’) and staid 1/2 hour – E.[Eliza] R.[Raine] looking fat and well and tidy – better dressed and better looking than I have ever seen her before since her derangement – She was in good humour – Knew me perfectly and drank my health, and seemed, too, as if she recollected A-[Ann] by name when I mentioned her as of Crownest –
In returning, called on Mrs. Henry Robinson – Not at home – Met her afterwards – Called also on Miss Best her sister – At Croft Rectory – Mrs. Duffin left us after having called on Miss Best – We examined the old Saxon arched (dogs tooth?) bordered doorway at Alms Houses near where Mr. Norcliffe’s garden used to be, and then spent above 1/2 hour looking at the exterior of the Minster till 4 –
Then 1/2 hour at Simter’s late Todd’s bookseller Stonegate – Bought two 2d.[2nd] nos.[numbers] of views of York – And handbook of South of Germany and handbook of Athens taken from Stuart’s Athens very nice useful little manual – Then to Bacchus the nursery and seedsman, in Tanner’s row, to inquire about for a gardener – Good kitchen gardener who understands fruit trees – No stoves nor greenhouse nor flowers to attend to – Said he would send a man to speak to me at 10 a.m. tomorrow – Ordered 250 scotch firs at 2/6 per hundred one hundred for A-[Ann] and the rest for myself – 1 ft.[foot] high plants – The man to bring them in the morning ready to go with us – Home at 5 25/’’-
Mr. Gray from 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 – Brought with him Mr. Watson and another who witnessed my signing 3d.[3rd] codicil to my will (vide line 19 of last p.[page] but one) empowering A.[Ann] and G.[Gray] to sell my Northgate property if necessary to pay off mortgage or oth[er debts –
G-[Gray] had looked into A-‘s[Ann’s] will and my own this morning, and saw that A-[Ann] had made me sole executor and trustee with a power to appoint whom I pleased to succeed me in the trust, but failing such appointment Mr. Jonathan G-[Gray] now deceased or his son William G-[Gray] to succeed me – Power to sell certain parts of the estate (in Stainland) given to me – I, too, had not bound A-[Ann], as she had imagined, to live at Shibden Hall but merely to keep it in repair – A-[Ann] and the G-s[Grays] (in succession) appointed co-trustees with A-[Ann] under my will –
A-[Ann] having in the morning while I was out of the room (gone for our wills) mentioned to Mr. G-[Gray] her wish to sign over to me,  he was to consider about it – I had not expected her mentioning and had advised against it for the present persuaded she would rummage herself up and do very well – But as she did mention it, I told G-[Gray] my opinion on the subject very honestly – It might be very well, supposing I had not the power to do mischief – The dispositions of A-‘s[Ann’s] present will to stand good, unless she herself altered them by will – Anxious for her to take all the power left except just so much as would prevent all possibility of interference, in any possible case, from Lord Chancellor or anybody – G-‘s[Gray’s] opinion this evening is, that A-[Ann] cannot sign over – It being a voluntary act, it would be revocable, and \[therefore] would do no good – If it was a deed of sale, she would have to dispose of the purchase money – Thinks the thing cannot be done –
Advises my not writing to Mr. Robert Swann – Thinks I have a pretty good chance –
A-[Ann] and I sat talking – Dinner at 7 – Afterwards A-[Ann] read aloud handbook of Southern Germany article Munich then 1/2 asleep a little while till after 9 – Wrote and gave to George note to go early in the morning to:
“Mr. Gray junior Minster Yard
Mrs. Lister is sorry she inadvertently omitted to ask Mr. Gray what she was indebted‘to him, and also if Miss Walker was at all in his debt – Mrs. Lister will send for Mr.‘Gray’s answer early tomorrow –
George Inn. Thursday evening 25 April 1839”
At 10 sent George with the hand book to Miss Charlotte Norcliffe to be returned by 11 a.m. tomorrow – We had met her yesterday after leaving Todd’s, and promised to send her the book to look at – I put a paper in at the word Munich with several pencil marks of reference to observe to be particularly noticed –
Dr. Belcombe came at 9 3/4 and staid till 10 1/2 A-[Ann] must live well – But must not over fatigue herself – She will do very well with care – Her constitution weak – Laughed and said I would prescribe for Dr. B-[Belcombe] himself tomorrow – He is to come in the morning As[Ann’s] constitution scrofulous Had tea and sat over it talking till 11 1/4 fine day –

Hello! I hope you're having a great day! I was wondering if you had any suggestions for a replacement FC for George Blagden (I'm looking 25-35) He's british white but the replacements don't have to be. It's a weird ask and I'm sorry, the vibe of a floofy haired dude who is silly, smiley and adorable is what I'm trying to replicate. If this is just too weird of a request, I totally understand! Thank you either way!
