I have been thinking. In your professional opinion. Do you think hannibal lecter would view borrowers as hors d’oeuvres or would he respect them. Like it all comes down to whether he views borrowing as stealing or as an understandable necessity for them, right? Maybe it rather comes down to whether they abide by the rule of only taking what won’t be missed. Maybe he can even empathize with them for having to keep himself hidden, metaphorically or otherwise. Anyway, i’ve been thinking about how fucked up it would be to be a borrower in hannibal’s house. He’d probably notice, right.. what if you had to choose between borrowing human meat or starving. I think you’re definitely right, Hannibal would respect borrowers as long as they respect him. His whole thing is hating the rude, but it’s not rude to try to survive. As long as they only take whats needed, don’t make a mess, and don’t cause problems with the FBI, I feel like he wouldn’t mind one in his house. He’d probably even enjoy the tiny ‘audience’.

He might even use it to his advantage, imagine if like, Will caught a glimpse of the borrower. Hannibal would deffo use that as a way to gaslight Will further, tiny people don’t exist Will, you’re going insane! Maybe if Hannibal was even on good terms with the borrower, they could even have them actively talk to Will and make him feel insane - maybe the borrower either works with Hannibal bc that’s their food ticket, or they’re being manipulated too.

It’s also be awful to have to borrow human meat to survive, especially if the borrower had no clue it was human in the beginning. But I’m also thinking of like, what if the borrower was cool with it? They aren’t a human, is it actually cannibalism? No other borrower has likely ever eaten human meat before- how could one even kill a human much less butcher it? Isn’t there something a little tantalizing about getting to eat your biggest predator? I think it’d be so neat if the borrower was a little freak about all of this, just as much as Will and Hanni
