Art surrounds you in Fort Wayne!
Art surrounds you in Fort Wayne!
Downtown Fort Wayne is an art filled city.  On my recent hosted trip with my mom, Lori Disque we  enjoyed seeing art in all forms literally all over the city.  The architecture of the church spires inspire, little special architectural details like the gargoyles on the History Center and the horseman on the Anthony Wayne Building all add to the beauty of the city.
In the center of town…

Things to Do in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Fort Wayne is a major metropolis in northeast Indiana. The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory on East Boulevard has beautiful botanical, desert and outdoor gardens, plus indoor exhibits. American art and sculpture are the main focus at Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The 1860 Gothic cathedral is the focal point of Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The Native American habitats at Fort Wayne Children's Zoo are the focal point of a new exhibit.
Walking Tour: Fort Wayne's Public Art Walkway is a stroll through a masterful display of Americana. The heart of the walking tour leads visitors through a historically rich Fort Wayne landscape. The 18th century architecture and carvings in the area make it a rich source of information for researchers. The children-led "walking tour" through the public art area concludes with a fun, car-powered musical number at the Promenade Park parking lot.
Fort Wayne History Center: The Fort Wayne History Center is one of America's premier history museums. The History Center houses one of the country's largest collection of civil war artifacts, including one of the bridges used by General Sherman's troops to take the bridge at the Chickahomile Indian Reservation. Free admission is always available to the history center, which is located off of Main Street in Fort Wayne. One of the highlights of the History Center is the two-story wing that houses the Antique Roadway Program, featuring rare items such as an intricately crafted blanket dress designed more than a hundred years ago. Other antiques include a rifle that was owned by William Tell, an artist who owned a studio where he produced paintings of indigenous North American Indians.
Downtown Fort Wayne: One of the largest cities in southwestern Indiana, downtown Fort Wayne offers a charming lifestyle and a glimpse into history. Located on the western edge of Fort Wayne, the downtown area features several attractions, restaurants and galleries. One of the most notable places to visit is the Historic Fort Wayne Museum & Factory Tour, which present a glimpse into the history of thisorate and Fort Wayne, Indiana. The tour guides take visitors on a journey through the factory, which preserved some of the village's original buildings and designs.
Fort Wayne Museum & Factory Tour: This popular tourist attraction offers a guided tour through one of the most distinctive American industrial centers. The tour focuses on the history of Fort Wayne and its impact on the region's development and growth. The two-day tour gives visitors the opportunity to observe the manufacturing facilities, explore the unique history of steel, and enjoy the fine art and architecture of Fort Wayne, just to name a few of the many topics covered. Other highlights include a visit to the county historical museum, the William D. Ford Motor Company Museum, and the Science and Technology Museum. Additional entertainment can be found at the Fort Wayne Museum, the Fort Wayne Courier Journal, and the Fort Wayne Educational News.
Eagle Marsh Park: Located on the south side of Fort Wayne, Eagle Marsh Park is home to several popular attractions. Among them is the Wabash National Forests, which is managed by the National Forest Service. The park also features several different public art parks, such as the one-acre Eagle Marsh Park Scenic Byway, which includes hiking, biking, and nature watching. Other activities may include rafting, visiting Fort Wayne's historic archives, or learning about the rich history of Fort Wayne and the surrounding area.
Mid-Midwest Cities to Visit: Fort Wayne is home to a diverse population, which means that there is a lot to do in northern Indiana. Some of the popular local destinations are the cities of Fort Wayne, Michigan; Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; and Elkhart, Wisconsin. All three have unique cultural histories, because they were home to some of the original settlers or former residents of Fort Wayne. There are many fun outdoor attractions to be found in these areas, as well. In Elkhart, visitors can try their hand at white water rafting, or tour historic homes in Bloomfield Hills. In Fort Wayne, things to do include taking in the world-famous roller coaster at the local amusement park, or trying your hand at various sports at local recreation centers.
Outdoor activities are abundant in northern Indiana. Because it is in an arable part of the country, Fort Wayne has a high population of people interested in spending time outdoors. Local and national outdoor organizations regularly hold meetings in the park. Special events, such as a food truck festival, are often put on in the park every year.

The Muse is a sculpture in downtown Fort Wayne, IN just outside of the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory . “The piece wsa sculpted by Sufi Ahmad in 1986. It is of 3 figures, 1 female, the muse, and 2 male. The muse reaches to the older male figure while holding her lyre. The younger male figure faces back towards the older male, as he interacts with the muse.” - Source

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory a downtown Fort Wayne Oasis!
Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory a downtown Fort Wayne Oasis!
The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory is in the heart of Fort Wayne. For some reason I expected this to be outside of town and we were delighted to find it nestled into the midst of the lovely backdrop of the city with a heartbreaking beautiful church across the street.  I traveled to Fort Wayne on this hosted trip with my mom, Lora Disque, and we were able to find a parking place right…
