Warning! Major spoilers for The Homebrew Campaign One: Absurdism and a Millennium Abroad ahead.

I've been thinking about making this since listening to episode 117, so here we go. Transcript under the cut.

Episode 6:

Grant: And she looks at you, eye contact, Karl. She says,

Kellen: If you need to do spice now and then, I understand, you’re a kid. But that Wake, that will literally kill you.

Cody: I kinda look concerned at that and I,

Karl: Are you serious? That could ki— Kellen: It will literally ki-ki-kill you. One hit of that stuff can kill you. It doesn’t take a bunch. And it’s highly addictive.

Tyrell: [laughing] You’ve seen Oliver shoot like fuckin’ four hits of that at once!

Grant: She gives you a little pill. And she says,

Kellen: Now I’m not condoning this type of behavior, but this is something that my daddy worked on, and if you ever get in serious trouble with that stuff, you pop this, okay? Karl: Sure… I appreciate it. Thank you.

Episode 37:

Grant: I'm pretty sure Kellen made something that can help you sleep. Right?

Tyrell: I... think you are correct.

Grant: She made you something, she said you only get one, so keep that in mind. She said she's not gonna make you any more, but she did give you something that will help you sleep through it. So just remember that you have that.

Cody: Right, I have that in my inventory, this 'Addiction Pill' that you were referring to.

Grant: Will you remind me what that does?

Cody: I just have written in my inventory, "Cures all drug effects."

Grant: Wow. Okay.

Episode 38:

Grant: Karl, I imagine you stay with him, through this. And Xalduin, you said you were staying with him through this. When the TCX wears off, Oliver looks like he's dying. He is at five levels of exhaustion. He is unable to move; his speed is zero. Like, you have to check to make sure he's breathing.

Cody: Oh god, I freak out and I start running out.

Karl: Kellen! Mr. Goui! Someone! Get in here!

Austin: Yeah, do we actually know about the thing that Kellen made?

Oliver: [Starts coughing and wheezing throughout the rest of the clip]

Austin: Like, I don't know if Xalduin actually knows about that.

Grant, Cody & Tyrell: Karl has it.

Cody: Don't actually know how it works. Like an epi-pen, I think.

Grant: Yeah, so everyone that hears that—

Cody: Running with that in my hand, I'm like,

Karl: [stammering] Xalduin! I think this is— this is the thing! It's— they're taking forever. I—

Pippin: Goui races over when he hears.

Karl: Mr. Goui, help us.

Pippin: Mr. Goui's gonna check over Oliver. So he can see he's just, like, completely exhausted, obviously.

Cody: I hand you the syringe.

Karl: Where does it go? In his heart? In his... eye? Goui: Part of me thinks we should've used this from the beginning if we were gonna use it. Karl: Well, I thought he might be able to muscle through it. We only get one. Oliver: [weakly] I'll be fine. I'm fine. Karl: I don't think he's fine!

Pippin: Now Mr. Goui's gonna try helping alleviate Oliver's exhaustion, by casting Greater Restoration. At least one.

Grant: Yeah.

Episode 117:

Cody: Karl is panicking, seeing that that spell is not working.

Karl: Fuck! That was supposed to... Shit!

Cody: And he starts digging around. Digging through everything he's got. Ahh... Eventually he reaches into his pocket, in his cargo shorts. And he pulls out this pill bottle. That says 'Kellen' on the side of it. And he reaches in, and runs up to Oliver, and he says,

Karl: Oliver, take this pill right now. Oliver: What's the point? I'm already gone. Karl: Oliver, take this fucking pill right now.

Tyrell: Oliver will... open his hand.

Cody: I will give you the pill.

Karl: Take it! Quick!

Tyrell: And he, like, struggles. And tries to get his arm up to his mouth, and swallows the pill. Tears are just pouring down his face now.

Grant: Oliver's form resumes its normal size. The veins stop popping out of everywhere. His arms go back to their normal size. And he is looking around at each of you, but you can tell he's looking past you. And then, he goes limp. And then you, for a moment, think he might be gone. And then he opens his eyes again.

As the first person you ever helped together, Grandma Kellen comes through. The pill she gave Oliver so long ago. Stronger than anything Medicore or Xorus could have ever brewed.

You open your eyes.

Abstract

Personality disorders and particularly antisocial personality disorders (APD) are quite frequent in opioid-dependent subjects. They show various personality traits: high neuroticism, high impulsivity, higher extraversion than the general population. Previous studies have reported that some but not all personality traits improved with treatment. In a previous study, we found a low rate of APD in a French population of opioid-dependent subjects. For this reason, we evaluated personality traits at intake and during maintenance treatment with methadone. Methods - The form A of the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) was given to opioid addicts at intake and after 6 and 12 months of methadone treatment. Results - 134 subjects (96 males and 38 females) took the test at intake, 60 completed 12 months of treatment. After 12 months, the EPI Neuroticism (N) and the Extraversion-introversion (E) scale scores decreased significantly. The N score improved in the first 6 months, while the E score improved only during the second 6 months of treatment. Compared to a reference group of French normal controls, male and female opioid addicts showed high N and E scores. Demographic data and EPI scores of patients who stayed in treatment for 12 months did not differ significantly from those of dropouts (n=23). Patients with a history of suicide attempts (SA) started to use heroin at an earlier age and they showed a higher E score and a tendency for a higher N score at intake. Discussion - The two personality dimensions of the EPI changed during MMT, and the N score converged towards the score of normal controls. Opioid addicts differ from normal controls mostly in their N score. The EPI did not help to differentiate 12-month completers from dropouts. Higher E scores in patients with an SA history might reflect a higher impulsivity, which has been linked to suicidality in other patient groups.

PROTEÇÃO Prefeitura realiza Semana Interna de Prevenção de Acidentes de Trabalho

Ações relacionadas à NR 38 serão implementadas já no próximo ano A Secretaria Municipal de Saneamento e Serviços Básicos (Semusb) realiza nesta quarta e quinta-feira (22 e 23) a Semana Interna de Prevenção de Acidentes de Trabalho (Sipat), com objetivo de proporcionar mais segurança aos servidores, com foco na NR 38. O local do evento é a sede social do Sindeprof, à rua Pastor Messias Barbosa, bairro Tiradentes, zona Leste, das 8h às 12h. “Como essas ações estão diretamente ligadas às atividades da Semusb e à norma (NR 38), que passa a valer em 2024, essa atividade de prevenção de acidentes vai focar nos pré-requisitos, estruturas e procedimentos necessários para serem adotados e implantados nas ações da secretaria já no próximo ano, quando a norma entra em vigor”, explicou o titular da pasta, Cleberson Pacheco. O secretário disse que a NR 38 é uma Norma Regulamentadora da ABNT (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas) que regulamenta e normatiza os procedimentos de segurança a serem adotados para os trabalhos de limpeza urbana (limpeza pública) e coleta de resíduos. Conforme a legislação, a Sipat deve acontecer em locais com mais de 100 funcionários (colaboradores ou servidores). Ela está sendo organizada pela Comissão Interna de Prevenção de Acidentes (Cipa), que está saindo em conjunto com a nova comissão, que inicia as suas funções a partir de agora até o final de 2024. O evento vai acontecer nos dois dias pela manhã, já que os servidores precisam atuar na limpeza da cidade. No primeiro dia serão priorizadas as palestras. No segundo, serão formados grupos para trabalhar as necessidades da implantação da norma nas atividades da Semusb. CRONOGRAMA Nosso objetivo é sair da Sipat com um cronograma de atividades para 2024, que vai abranger desde os novos implementos, equipamentos de proteção individual (EPIs) e capacitações para operador de motosserra, retroescavadeira, tatuzão, varredeira”, comentou. Ao final da Sipat também haverá demonstração e entrega de EPIs aos servidores que trabalham em campo para manter a cidade sempre limpa. CONQUISTAS O secretário acrescentou que nesse curto período à frente da Semusb, já foram adquiridos mais de R$ 500 mil em EPIs, investidos cerca de R$ 900 mil na aquisição de novos equipamentos (duas retroescavadeiras novas), o pátio da secretaria está sendo todo asfaltado, mais de R$ 70 mil foram investidos em equipamentos para oficina e borracharia, além da reforma e climatização do refeitório, dando mais conforto aos servidores. “A secretaria já prepara estruturas que possibilitam o exercício das atividades de forma mais segura e mais confortável para os servidores no ano de 2024. Baby E’s story (Part 4) - The Goodbye

4th Jan 2023 - This was it, the dreaded day was here. To be honest I thought I’d be feeling a whole lot crappier than I did, but for some reason all I felt was a weird level of peace and calmness. Really didn’t know what to expect at all and the long long wait didn’t make it any better. The time prior to starting the procedure (we checked in at about 430pm), Ivan and I had only started talking about how we wanted to send baby E off. On hindsight it feels so weird to be talking about all these things that we obviously had no experience in. Who do we contact and how? What did we need to do? We eventually googled and found a funeral company that had experience handling the death of babies and decided to let them cremate baby E and scatter his ashes back into the ocean. We decided we didn’t need a niche to remember him, because how could we ever ever forget. I remember Ivan and I talking through about what was to come and praying together, tearing up in between and coming to acceptance that today was the day we were gonna say goodbye. Doctors and nurses came in to set plug and check on me, to explain the procedure. It was basically going to be an induced labour as baby was at 21 weeks and was formed, with medication inserted every 3 hourly until baby is delivered. At 8pm they finally start the first dose of medication. I didn’t know what to expect but the cramps started getting worse, the chills and shivering came for a good 20-30 mins before it finally stopped. 11pm - Dose 2, cramps got worse and chills and shivering came back, with fever at 38 degrees.

5th Jan 2023- Towards late 1am, cramps got super super bad it felt like death. I knew I had to ask for painkillers so got jabbed in the butt and went to the toilet to pee cuz i had been drinking water. As i went to the toilet I felt a pressure weigh down below and it felt like perhaps baby was coming out, went back out at the nurse confirmed that Baby E’s head was visible. The whole delivery started and it was just like a normal delivery without the epi. After much pushing baby E finally was delivered and thankfully the placenta was out as well. The pain also slowly went away. Time of death, 2:05 am at 21 weeks + 3 days. Didn’t really know what to feel at the point in time but just felt so exhausted and slept. Sometime at 5/6am in the morning, Baby E was wheeled into our room in a box all dressed up in an angel gown sewn by an organisation called angel hearts who upcycle donated wedding gowns to sew clothings for angel babies. Baby E even had a little bow tie. Baby E fit almost the size of an adult shoebox and i was most amazed by his little feet and hands that were so small and intricate. Ivan and I spent time to pray with Baby E while he was here and said our last goodbyes before he was sent to mortuary to wait for the funeral peeps to come for him later that afternoon.

The nurses gave us a little envelope that had Baby E’s hand and footprints that we requested for. It also had a little angel gowns charm that was a pair with the one that was attached to his gown, so that we’ll have another piece of something that belonged to this short lived relationship to remember Baby E by.
