Shawn and Niall's public dating history doesn't match the themes and narratives of their songwriting
Mannn… if you actually take the time to look at Shawn’s and Niall’s dating history…. Where are these passionate songs coming from if you buy into the general public narrative 😭 Shawn’s literally supposedly dated 2 people 😭
And it didn’t start until 2017 😭 which albums are typically written A YEAR AT LEAST before they are released. Shawn Mendes Self Titled was released on May 25, 2018. Illuminate was released on April 20, 2017.
And then he’s singing about hoping someone will be by his side and being with someone “who cares if they approve”…. The media and fans were wanting him and C to get together… where are these obstacles of being together 😭
Niall’s dating history is so weird, like, don’t even get me started. It’s so full of PR and short bursts of being with someone?? Women who have even issued statements and denied when asked that they were anything romantic??? Where are all of these passionate songs coming from?? Who is he showing up at their door soaking wet? Where are these obstacles??? Wedding song???
Why is he needing to tell someone there’s “no judgement” (it’s romantic with a “mate and… you know”. No, it’s not about Harry please stop?) when they’re together??? Who is he missing so much he needs a “new angel”?? This Town: Who is he saying “if the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you” about”?? Why wouldn’t anyone he’s been with be accepted???
There’s so much that begs to be said about all of this. Shawn invalidating his whole discography (saying it’s all about Camila???) in his documentary still makes me so incredibly sad. That doesn’t make any sense. It doesn’t all line up, nor do the themes match up with his life history with her. Please 😭
Make it make sense. 🤨😭 whomever made him say that had no idea what they were doing. They expected the fans to just blindly accept what came out of his mouth.
I have talked with his fans who believe that he was writing so many songs about her… and to believe it, you have to think that he’s just sitting on the sidelines for years just pining away for her while she’s with other guys??? That doesn’t even match with his songs???
I know I’m going back and forth between the two but there’s so much of Niall’s that don’t make sense either. It starts with Barbara Palvin, who was starting out her modeling career who was connected with Niall in 2013-2014. If you don’t think he stunted, then what’s this?
Tumblr media
Amelia Lily (yup another Amelia) 2011-2012. There’s later an article about her DENYING anything went on and that she was actually dating an electrician dude.
He was connected briefly with Ellie Goulding who would greatly benefit from the clout boost in Aug-Sept 2013. Meh. Standard music industry stuff.
Melissa Whitelaw, an Australian student, Feb-June 2015 so says a DM article. There’s papwalks complete with the weird backseat photos. Her looking out the window while Niall is awkwardly trying to cope with what he’s being subjected to, see below.
Tumblr media
And there’s Celine Helene Vandycke, yet another student. This time she’s Belgian. They show up at events with his arm around her shoulders. They’re only together about a month or two in 2016. Again, here’s the customary car backseat photo published in DM.
Tumblr media
And then there Hailee Steinfeld, in 2017-2018. Niall never confirms it but there’s really awkward (while walking across the street?? Like??? Wtf???) kissing pics that exist. She wears his merch. She shows up to a m&g during his tour. They “breakup” then the narrative is she released a song called “Wrong Direction” but denies it’s about him. (Great PR move, Hailee.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then it brings us to Amelia Woolley, pandemic lockdown lady. Met in Apr 2020, UK lockdown started in Mar. Dramatic story how they met in tabloids. Niall tore her away from her electrician boyfriend. They now do papwalks and she shows up at golf and events. Everyone forgets about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So….. I repeat…. where’s the kind of longterm love along the ways that’s sparked their work and matches the themes of their songs??? Please let me know if you find it???
And yes I know there’s some typos, the timeline also isn’t exact. But that’s the thing about these “relationships” that are arranged. Dates are messy because no one actually knows them. 😂

A bunch of clips from the opening night of Sweeney Todd in Manila! Shot 3rd row at the balcony. I shot more but they were too zoomed in that they’re more likely to be considered audio so I decided not to include them. I was very near the usher and they were really strict. The phone was in my jacket pocket so I couldn’t see anything and I was scared of getting caught, so a lot is very zoomed and I’m really sorry about that. I absolutely loved the set, it was reimagined into a more modern almost gangster like setting. Shot in 4k on my phone. Please gift out to anyone who asks. Excerpts:
Rather than getting him help, the suit says, those who were meant to guide him instead pushed Lil Peep “onto stage after stage in city after city, plying and propping” him up with illegal drugs and unprescribed controlled substances as he spiraled further.
These were the explosive claims filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by Liza Womack, the rapper’s mother and the administrator of his estate, against First Access Entertainment, the talent agency and label that oversaw Lil Peep’s career after signing him to a three-year deal beginning when he was 19.
The suit, which seeks unspecified damages for negligence, breach of contract and wrongful death, named Sarah Stennett, First Access’s chief executive and a music industry power broker who has worked with the pop singers Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora and Zayn Malik; Bryant Ortega, known as Chase, a member of Lil Peep’s management team; and Belinda Mercer, who was hired as a tour manager for Lil Peep’s final tour in the fall of 2017. First Access Entertainment, or FAE, was founded in 2015 by Stennett and Len Blavatnik, a Ukrainian-born billionaire whose conglomerate Access Industries owns Warner Music Group.
The suit contends that Stennett and her company “fostered, promoted and encouraged” drug use as a way to maintain control over Lil Peep and his tours.
Detailing specific incidents, the suit claims that Stennett gifted Lil Peep a bottle of pills at a group dinner in early 2017, and cites text messages in which she contacted him about drugs, writing, “I’m about to land at JFK. I have one 2m x and 4 x .25,” referring to two different doses of Xanax pills.
Mercer, the suit says, was in a sexual relationship with Lil Peep while working as his tour manager and provided him drugs, including ketamine. The lawsuit also describes an event on Oct. 25, 2017, a few weeks before Lil Peep’s death, in which Mercer was detained at the Canadian border after a search by drug-sniffing dogs. The suit alleges that Stennett was made aware of the incident and the potentially dangerous environment on tour but allowed the behavior to persist.
Gregory C. Keating, a torts professor at the University of Southern California, said that while allegations of record companies providing drugs to rock stars date back decades, and could be seen as a “common practice in a freewheeling industry,” that doesn’t mean an entertainment company could not be held liable.
“It’s a plausible complaint, because a court could reasonably decide that by providing a person with an addiction with prescription medication and illegal substances, they endangered his life, and that brought responsibility upon themselves,” he said.
“They would argue that they had no duty to protect him,” he continued, “but if you supply him and you know he’s got an addiction problem, that could trigger the application of a duty. This person is under your control to some extent, and you’re actually enabling them by doing things that you’re not authorized to do.”

Interview with Ruth B.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Ruth B. over Zoom video!
25-year-old multi-platinum Ethiopian-Canadian singer and songwriter Ruth B. is excited to share her new album Moments In Between, executive produced by Patrick Wimberly (Beyonce, Solange, Blood Orange, Ellie Goulding), on Downtown Records / The Orchard. Moments In Between is a raw emotional accounting of the anxieties and uncertainty Ruth faces as a woman in her mid-twenties, giving voice to her inner strife via warm vocals, shapeshifting textures, and hazy harmonies.
The new album serves as the follow-up to Ruth’s gold-certified 2017 debut Safe Haven – a critically acclaimed release featuring “Lost Boy,” a Peter Pan-inspired piano ballad that went viral when she was still a teenager. Ruth made a number of unexpected breakthroughs when creating Moments In Between: from revelations of being scared to ask for help (“Princess Peach”) to reflections on self-growth (“Situation”) and romance (“Holiday”). On Moments In Between, Ruth pushes her musical and personal dynamic to a new level of boldness and sophistication, embracing her most beautifully strange impulses while delivering her most impactful work to date.
From woozy R&B and pop beats to guitar driven tracks and folk-like reveries, the songs on Moments In Between showcase Ruth B.’s ability to seamlessly traverse a multitude of musical stylings, and will surely add to her 1.5 billion artist streams to date. Ruth B. credits her songwriting and storytelling abilities to her upbringing as the daughter of Ethiopian immigrants, listening to the music of her parents’ homeland alongside American icons like Stevie Wonder and Lauryn Hill. For this project, Ruth also worked with producers Justin Raisen (Angel Olsen, Santigold) and Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, Ashe) who encouraged her to dig deeper in the writing and recording process than she ever has before.
“Writing songs has always been therapeutic for me,” says Ruth, “and I hope that hearing my songs helps other people in the same way. Whether they’re feeling lonely or heartbroken or happy, I want them to know that someone else understands what they’re going through.”
Last month, Ruth B. announced her upcoming bespoke Global Digital Tour, in partnership with Moment House and sponsored by Music.com. Moment House is a premium digital live platform that connects artists and their core fans for global, elevated ticketed experiences — called Moments. Ruth will be hosting exclusive Moments for several different areas/regions: North & South America, Asia, Australia & New Zealand, and Europe, UK & Africa. Full dates below.

(Since I finally got my hands on my home country)
...it’s Laleh for Sweden in Gaiasong 2017!
The Swedish singer-songwriter and producer, who was born in Iran, grew up in Minsk and Sweden and currently resides in Los Angeles, writing and producing songs for a vast array of artists, including famous artists such as Ellie Goulding, Adam Lambert and Demi Lovato, will perform her song “Bara Få Va Mig Själv" in Czechia.
"Bara Få Va Mig Själv” roughly translates into "to get to be just myself" or "to get to only be myself".
Here's a link to the official music video,
and here's a link to a snippet of a live performance of this song which I filmed this August. This was one of the last performances on her last tour date of her summer tour! @gaiasong
Hope you’ll like it! See you in Prague! 💜

Anatomy of a PR Suicide, Part 3
These were Harry’s headlines in August 2015-August 2015.
Tumblr media
I collected these by simply running Google searches for each month during the time period (”prince harry january 2016″ and so on) and pulling up the most popular headlines that came up. They’re not necessarily in order (sometimes I’d get the same headline five times and I would just skip until I hit a new one), but they’re close. Not scientific, but it’ll do.
This gives us a decent-ish look at Harry’s pre-Markle pr--lots of work, lots of conservation, lots of tours, and a few articles bemoaning the lack of privacy. This was who we thought he was.
There were a few surprises there. The actual Orlando Invictus Games were not as high up the search results as I would have expected, for example. Go figure. Overall, however, this was kind of how I remembered the year.
There were some hiccups--he missed Charlotte’s christening, had Ellie Goulding/Juliette LaBelle canoodling, Margot Robbie spoke up, and he got criticized for hunting--but overall the headlines were fantastic. He looked serious (all those Obama and Mandela meets!) and hard-working.
Here are Harry’s headlines from August 2016-August 2017.
Tumblr media
It’s night and day.
There were more surprises here. That stupid August 4 engagement date? It was getting hyped back in March and was at the top of the search results. I don’t think I even noticed that. I was wondering why everyone got engagement fever this month. Turns out Meghan’s press has been hyping the August 4 proposal since last Spring.
The actual photo-ops with Markle were not as high up the search results as I would have expected. The Jamaica and polo pics were the only ones to bubble up through the search results. The Middleton wedding? Invisible in Harry’s search results even though it was Meghan’s top Google Trends event.
Also, his work was pretty much invisible, which surprised me. I would’ve expected the romance to bring some additional attention to his work. The opposite was true. The post-Caribbean-Tour detour visit (as well as the honeymoon offer by the Grenadine PM) totally overshadowed the tour. The only work events to bubble up through the Markle maelstrom were the Epping Forest visit, the garden party, and a rugby practice he attended.
Peanuts.
Sentenbale got some good headlines in 2015-2016. You’d think they would get even better headlines in 2017, what with the big “kiss” publicity stunt happening during a Sentenbale polo match, right? Nope. Didn’t happen.
He also had some weird Markle headlines in his results. “Makes her Mark on the Fashion World”? Why is that ranked so high in Harry’s results? They must have put serious money behind it.
And that “while still dating celebrity chef” article also surprised me. I thought only the insiders were aware of that. Nope. It’s one of the top November results.
Weird.
Still, the point is that he went from headlines about the military, his tours, and his charity and conservation work to headlines about infidelity, paternity rumors, attacking the press, and pulling rank.
Thumbs up, Hazza!
The funny thing is that this has been a fully orchestrated pr drive. This was all done on purpose! I guess the expected to have “Harry Dates Stunning Humanitarian Actress And Future Nobel Prize Winner” headlines. That is not what happened. AT ALL.
Most of this headlines are either positive or neutral, and, yes, they all still make him look like an idiot. If you compare them to the headlines he was getting last year, you get the feeling he went through some weird “Flowers for Algernon”-style regression, from working with Michelle Obama and meeting Mandela’s window to “making a mark on the fashion world.”
And not because Meghan is “unsuitable,” or the tabs are out to get him, or anything like that. All the headlines are stuff he has done, or stuff he has allowed her pr to say he has done--stuff like the statement, the post-tour detour, the “jetting off,” and using his security detail to pick her up at the airport.
This is 100% self-inflicted, an own goal of the highest order.
I pulled the trigger on this project this month, because I expected Invictus to be a huge boost of positive pr for him and I wanted to get a good look at situation before that promo wave hit. However, judging from the 2016 results, IG is not the promo nuke that I expected it to be. I don’t think it will be enough to chance the conversation.

2015: The Bearding Timeline (pt. 1)
Newbies were freaking out last week because of the picture on Josh’s Instagram. As bas as it was, it wasn’t nearly as bad as 2015. I wasn’t in the Kaylor fandom in 2015, but I was following Taylor at the time, so I had a good idea of the stunt in 2015 before I did my research. So here is the timeline of Taylor’s and Karlie’s bearding in 2015. Pictures are linked on words and dates (should I add them?).
Remember that Kissgate was in December 2014 and that everything in 2015 is the consequence of that event. Calvin Harris was Taylor’s 'boyfriend’ for 15 months. Joshua Kushner has been Karlie’s 'boyfriend’ since 2012.
I excluded all likes about Tayvin by Taylor, Josh’s comments on Karlie’s Instagram posts (he commented a lot of 🍉), The Kloss’ likes, Taylor’s likes on Calvin’s Instagram and vice versa, and same for Karlie and Josh.
I don’t particularly like talking about Josh for reasons, but I felt like this was needed for anyone who wasn’t there in 2015. I should say that I won’t call Calvin or Josh any names or assume their sexuality here. That doesn’t mean that I like Calvin. On the contrary, I dislike him for various things but calling him names, for me, is unnecessary.
January 3: Karlie posts a picture of Josh on Instagram of their trip in NY.
January 4: Karlie posts a picture of Josh on Instagram of their trip in NY.
January 26: Karlie posts a picture of Josh on Instagram.
February 3: Karlie posts a video taken by Josh on Instagram. The video was identical to one that Josh posted in 2014.
February 14: Karlie posts a picture on Instagram for Valentine’s day with Josh in it.
February 15: Karlie promotes Oscar Health on Instagram.
February 24: Taylor meets Calvin at the Elle Style Awards in London. Ellie Goulding stated months later that she played matchmaker for them.
February 25: Taylor talks with Calvin and Mick Jagger at the 2015 Brits in London.
March 6: On their one year anniversary, Taylor makes it very clear that March 6 is their anniversary, just days after Calvin breaks up with Aarika Wolfe.
March 22: Josh posts a picture of him and Karlie at a wedding on Instagram.
March 25: Taylor and Calvin are spotted in Nashville by fans wearing matching outfits. There aren’t any paps in Nashville, so Taylor usually relies on fans to take pictures.
March 26: Taylor goes to Kenny Chesney concert in Nashville with Clavin Tree and Calvin’s manager.
April 2: Taylor and Calvin go to Haim’s concert in WH. Taylor basically sits on his lap while they both look really bored. Taylor usually dances/sings at concerts, but she didn’t look that happy there.
April 14: Calvin is photographed leaving Taylor’s LA house. Taylor, nor her friends, have ever been seen leaving her LA house, so why with Calvin. It’s also a private property where paps aren’t allowed to camp out.
April 18: Karlie and Josh go to Coachella together.
April 19: Karlie posts a picture of her and Josh at Coachella on Instagram.
April 24: Josh is at Karlie’s Karlie Kloss x Frame Denim Meet and Greet in NYC.
April 29: Calvin posts a picture on Instagram of Meredith and Olivia.
April 30: Taylor and Calvin drive around LA. Taylor spends most of her time on her phone though.
May 3: Karle posts a video on Instagram and comments “courtesy of @joshuakushner”
May 4: Karlie and Josh go to the 2015 Met Gala in NY and Josh looks happy as always.
May 9: Taylor and Haim go to Calvin’s set at the 2015 Wango Tango in CA.
May 12: Taylor and Calvin go on a date in Venice, CA.
May 17: Taylor and Calvin attend the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. They go full out with PDA and are later called out for it. Josh and Karlie posts a picture of her close to a lighthouse, making it seem like they’re together, but the post location is in Manhatten, 3 hours away from where the picture was taken.
May 26: Taylor and Calvin go on a date in NYC.
May 28: Taylor, Calvin and Ed Sheeran eat at The Spotted Pig in NYC. Pictures from that date are proof that their relationships PR. As Taylor and Calvin walked out of the restaurant hand in hand, they unclasped their hands seconds after the paps took pictures and Calvin would have pushed her inside the car if there weren’t any paps. Karlie is seen for the first time arriving at Taylor’s apartment in 2015. Gigi Hadid and Calvin are also there and the picture for Karlie’s 23rd birthday that Taylor posted was taken there.
May 29: Calvin is photographed leaving Taylor’s apartment.
June 7: Karlie and Josh go grocery shopping after hiking.
June 8: Gigi posts a picture of her, Calvin and Karlie in Taylor’s kitchen for the National Best Friend Day (but she barely knows him yet uses a picture with him).
June 10: Taylor posts the “Swan goals” picture. This is the first picture she has of her ‘boyfriend’ on her SM, but she said in 2014 that her next relationship would be kept private. Also, most likely a latergram (and her hair is completely dry).
June 12: Karlie posts a picture (collage) made by a fan of Josh and her at the 2014 US Open, an event where they looked like they didn't want to be there, for his birthday.
June 13: Karlie goes to an event in Russia with Josh.
June 14: Taylor, Calvin, Gigi, Joe Jonas, and Jessica Alba eat at Soho House in Hollywood, a private place for celebrities, but the paps sill got pictures.

November 16: Taylor posts a picture on Instagram of Olivia Benson with Mariska Hargitay’s Moon Man and an hour later she edits the caption and adds “photocredit: @calvinharris”.
December 13: Taylor doesn’t celebrate her birthday, but she does go to a birthday party for Apple streaming’s head’s daughter with Calvin. She and Calvin are the only celebrities photographed there.
December 21: Josh posts a picture of Karlie on Instagram a day after the 1989 World Tour Live is released.
December 23: Calvin goes to see her in Colorado and they try to make it look like he’s spending Christmas with her by posting pictures on Instagram, but the dates don’t line up.
December 24: Taylor posts a picture of her and Calvin on Instagram.
December 27-31: Karlie goes to St-Barths and tries to make it seem like Josh was there with her.
December 31: Taylor, Ruby Rose, and the Haim sisters go to Calvin’s set in LV for the countdown.
Well that sums up most of the bearding in 2015. A reminder for newbies that 2015 was the worst year for Kaylor. You know what they say, couples that beard together, stay together.
For info about all of Tayvin and Joshlie: Tayv!n the PR Stunt Masterpost,  The PR Stunt, and Little Bits of Information.
Just to conclude Tayvin, they broke up in early June 2016. Josh and Karlie are still together (see Josh’s Instagram). If there are any questions about them, my inbox is open. Don’t think that Kaylor is not real because of Josh, there are many reasons why they are bearding together, so do not have doubts when it comes to Josh. Coachella (April 14-16 & 21-23) is soon and they usually go together, so we should expect some pics there (hopefully they’ll skip this year). They haven’t been following their past patterns and have been doing minimal interactions in 2017 (snow pic, the watermelon pic, and the Turks & Caicos pics).
For more: 2016: The Bearding Timeline (pt. 2), 2017: The Bearding Timeline (pt. 3).
Some other posts I have that include Taylor’s PR relationship: Swifthaal Timeline TaCo Timeline

Week of March 6, 2017.
I’m sitting on my couch, listening to I Want You by Marvin Gaye, easily one of my most favorite albums ever.  Over the weekend I read that Leon Ware had recently passed away.  I always knew his name from reading the liner notes of I Want You as a kid (this is what you do in middle school when you don’t hang out with the cool kids.  You read album liner notes), but I had no idea how integral his role was in making this classic album.
Basically, without Leon Ware, I Want You would not have been made.  The story goes like this. Leon Ware was at Motown, recording a demo for Diana Ross’ brother, Arthur.  Berry Gordy, the founder of one of the greatest labels ever, heard the song “I Want You”.  He told Marvin Gaye about the song.  Marvin Gaye reached out to Leon Ware, and they started hanging out.  Ware played Gaye some music that he was working on, and Gaye asked him what it was.  Ware told Gaye that it was his new album, called Comfort.  Gaye told Ware that “if you give me the album, I’ll do the whole thing.”  What was the result of Marvin Gaye working on the Comfort album?  I Want You, one of the best albums of all time (in my opinion).  While I’m said to hear about the passing of Leon Ware, it was cool learning about this story.  Although I’ve known the I Want You album for probably 25 years, I never knew about this story until this weekend.  It’s always fun to learn about music!
I’m a big fan of two new albums that were released this week, Semper Femina by Laura Marling and Heartworms by The Shins.  I’m not very familiar with a lot of Laura Marling’s music, but I’ve always loved her songs whenever I’ve heard them.  Given our current environment, I really wanted to check out an album that is primarily about women.  The NYT published a really good review of Semper Femina.  You can read it right here.  I wouldn’t be surprised if this album ends up in my top 10 list.  A list of Laura Marling’s tour dates can be found here. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get to one of her shows, but I’m definitely going to try.
I’ve loved The Shins ever since I first heard “Simple Song” back in 2012.  What a voice!  I was instantly hooked.  And believe it or not, at the time, I had never heard “New Slang”.  Heartworms is their newest album, and is worth checking out.  The Shins have a pretty lengthy tour slated for 2017 – the dates are here.  I’ve never seen them before, and unfortunately it does not look like that will change unless more dates get added.  However, that shouldn’t stop you from going if you can!
Here is a list of some of the music I’ve been listening to the past week.  Format: musician – album title, or musician – “song title” (album title).
Ryan Adams – Prisoner
Dave Hause – Bury Me In Philly
The Menzingers – “Lookers” (After The Party)
Ed Sheeran  - Divide
Lana Del Rey – “Love”
The Menzingers – After The Party
The Shins – Heartworms
Laura Marling – Semper Femina
The Pretenders – Pretenders II
The Pretenders – Learning To Crawl
Ellie Goulding – Delirium
Lady Gaga – The Fame
Against Me! – Shape Shift With Me
Massive Attack – Mezzanine
Bright Eyes – I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning
Bright Eyes – Digital Ash In A Digital Urn
The Beatles – Yellow Submarine
Lori McKenna – The Bird and the Rifle
Van Morrison – Astral Weeks
Kamasi Washington – The Epic
Johnny Cash – American Recordings
Marvin Gaye – I Want You
I’m stoked that the Afghan Whigs just announced their next album, In Spades, out on May 5.  A European summer tour is already scheduled, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that an American tour gets announced.  The Afghan Whigs are in the upper tier of my bucket list, and hopefully I will be able to see them this year.  Greg Dulli is one of my most favorite singers ever.  Check out the song “Faded”.  You’re welcome.
Do not forget that April 22 is RECORD STORE DAY.  There are already tons of reasons to go to your local record store, and now I just gave you one more.  How great is that?  The official 2017 RSD list has not been published yet, but I know a bunch of the releases that will be on there, and let’s just say that there is something for everyone on there.  If you’re a music fan, regardless of the genre, you will have a reason to be excited for at least one of the releases.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day.  I will be enjoying plenty of corned beef and Guinness, plus of course lots of tunes by Dropkick Murphys, Van Morrison, The Waterboys, Aoife O’Donovan, The Pogues, The Chieftains, etc., on the wheels of steel.  Have fun!

Chronixx's Debut  Already #12 on U.S. iTunes Overall Top Albums Chart
Chronixx’s Chronology skyrockets  to the top of iTunes today. In the U.S., the Jamaican artist’s debut album, available today July 7, 2017, is currently holding the #12 spot on the overall Top Album chart and #1 on Reggae Album chart.  In other iTunes territories,  the album lands at #16 in Canada, #19 in UK, #2 in Kenya, #5 in Switzerland on their overall Top Album chart.
Download/Stream Chronology now: chronixx.lnk.to/Chronology
Chronixx is currently touring U.S. East Coast and will celebrate the release  tomorrow night (Jul 8)  in NYC for a very special  free show at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn at Prospect Park Bandshell.
“Evolution,” “uprising,” “continuation” and “Rastafari” are words used by the 24-year-old singer-songwriter Chronixx. These identifiers embody every nuance of his long-awaited debut Chronology on his label Soul Circle (Virgin/Universal distribution). They tell the story of a young Jamaican music prodigy whose conscious views of the world continue the legacy of reggae’s forebearers, yet also blazes a new path for traditional and non-traditional listeners.
Since 2012, Chronixx has organically built that devoted fanbase, turning industry heads as one of Jamaica’s fastest, most-promising talents to represent the iconic Caribbean island to a global audience.
From Chronixx’s 2013 breakthrough anthem “Smile Jamaica” (produced by Silly Walks Discotheque)—that put him on the map—to his 2017 self-produced, dancehall-styled single “Likes,” these songs are a guide to the progression of Chronixx as a well-rounded artist on Chronology. His palette for rhythm is limitless, choosing an array of colors to paint vivid pictures. He walks you through the neighborhood that raised him on “Spanish Town Rockin” and pays respect to the women in his life on “Majesty” – both tracks also featured on his 2016 mixtape Roots & Chalice by Federation Sound. On “Ghetto Paradise” (produced by Phillip “Winta” James whose credits include Damian Marley & Protoje), Chronixx expresses the bittersweet realities of Jamaica, a juxtaposition of the island’s beautiful aesthetic and the darkness, poverty and strife that lies within. He declares humanity’s indomitable spirit on “I Can,” produced by Parisian production duo Picard Brothers (credits include Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, Kehlani). Worries drift away on “Skankin Sweet,” the album’s “richly textured one drop groove” (Billboard). The album’s one and only guest feature is reserved for his father, Jamaican reggae vocalist Chronicle on “Big Bad Sound.” The song hails up all the generals from his father to Haile Selassie who helped shape him musically and spiritually. It is a true example of the art form’s continuation coming full circle.
Thoughtful lyricism aside, one of Chronology’s greatest attributes is its layered production. The album’s rich instrumentation allows the messages to digest into a soulful depth. Chronixx co-produced the entire album with a diverse all-star cast spanning the globe. Repping Jamaica, his touring band Zincfence Redemption along with the island’s renowned musicians Llamar ‘Riff Raff’ Brown, Dean Fraser, Stephen McGregor (amongst many others) all contributed to the album. Across the map, British drum & bass band Rudimental, London-based Utters and NYC’s Federation Sound round out this dynamic product. For tracks “Country Boy” and “Christina,” Chronixx recruited iconic American blues guitarist Donald Kinsey, known for his recording and touring history with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.  Also a Chicago string orchestra arranged by Matt Jones adds dimension to songs like “Legend,” “Tell Me More” and “Black Is Beautiful.”
Chronology was recorded in studios in Brooklyn, Kingston, London and Chicago, mixed at Miami’s Circle House Studios and at NYC’s Manhattan Center.
In support of Chronology, he will continue to tour Europe, North America and Japan throughout the summer. He will also join Ms. Lauryn Hill and Nas on their Fall 2017 Powernomics tour. See full tour dates here www.chronixxmusic.com.
About Chronixx
Born Jamar Rolando McNaughton on October 10, 1992 in Jamaica’s second largest city Spanish Town, Chronixx was musically nurtured from an early age by his father, dancehall artist Chronicle. Under the wing of his paternal music mentor, he grew up surrounded by the likes of Burro Banton and Gregory Isaacs. With a youthful conscious voice carrying the wisdom of generations of reggae singers before him, Chronixx quickly stood out. In 2014, his music propelled him into international stardom. His Dread & Terrible project, featuring hits like “Here Comes Trouble” and “Captureland,” immediately topped the Billboard (U.S.) Reggae chart. That year, he was lauded by the likes of NPR, VOGUE, Vice & The New Yorker as the leader of reggae’s new roots generation and landed performances on major stages including his national TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and NYC’s Central Park Summerstage. Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger celebrated his birthday by sitting stageside for Chronixx’s set in Central Park.  He continued to chart unprecedented territory for a young independent Jamaican artist, reaching festival audiences at Governer’s Ball (2015), Glastonbury (2015), Coachella (2016) & Austin City Limits (2016). In Spring 2017, Chronixx returned to Fallon, was selected as the face for adidas Originals’ Spezial SS17 campaign, headlined his biggest 44-city North American tour date, sold out more venues across United Kingdom and made his British national TV debut on Later with Jools Holland.
Chronology Track Listing: 1. Spanish Town Rocking 2. Big Bad Sound featuring Chronicle 3. Skankin Sweet 4. Ghetto Paradise 5. Country Boy 6. Smile Jamaica 7. I Can 8. Selassie Children 9. Seether returned to Idaho last week as part of its Poison the Parish Tour. The band kicked off the month of June with a rousing sold out event at The Knitting Factory, that also featured Omaha’s Through Fire, and Detroit’s Kaleido.
Kaleido dropped its stunning debut album Experience last month, and the band’s live set quickly proved they are no studio creation. In fact, Kaleido delivered the surprise set of the night, packed with songs that ranged from straight up rockers like “Die Tryin’” and “Unbreakable” to reggae infused pop such as, “Trouble in Paradise,” to raucous groovers like “No More Little Miss Nice Bitch.” Vocalist Christina Chriss owned the stage with her fearless presence and play-for-keeps attitude. The band even tossed in a cover of “My Michelle” from Chriss’ favorite band, Guns ‘N’ Roses. Drummer Joey Fava delivered a bit of a solo mid-set, and charismatic bassist Cody Morales added a sense of playfulness with his performance. Guitarists Zach Bolling and Ronnie Rosolino handled the shift from edgy riffing to melodic nuance, effortlessly. If you weren’t at the show, you owe it to yourself to check out Kaleido.
Through Fire, who just graced Boise a couple of months ago, slipped in for a date between tours with All That Remains and Otherwise. The band, driven by former Emphatic songwriter and guitarist Justin McCain, are currently enjoying the #1 active song in the country with their hit, “Breathe,” which was one of the many songs from their debut album of the same name, performed Thursday night. They opened it up with “Breakout” and “Where You Lie”, and closed the set with their first single “Stronger.” Blended in between were covers of Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” and Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.” “Blood on My Hands” and “Damaged” rounded out the set. Through Fire, which also features vocalist Grant Kendrick, guitarist Jesse Saint, and bassist Patrick Mussack, is already building a strong following in Boise. This show only fanned the flames.
Seether always likes to deliver a moody set, and as usual they used very little stage lighting, performing mostly in shadows. This was the one consistent gripe of most fans I spoke with, who otherwise hailed the performance as stellar. However, the soft lighting added ambiance to the set as they crashed through a set packed with hits such as “Fine Again,” “Broken,” and “Rise Above This.” They opened the set with “Gasoline” from their debut album, Disclaimer. Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery shared the stage with the band as guest lead guitarist for the tour, and his dynamic performance added depth to tracks like “Country,” “Fake It,” “No Jesus Christ” and “Nobody Praying for Me.” Frontman Shaun Morgan made his way into the crowd at one point during the set to the delight of the fans. Drummer John Murphy and bassist Dale Stewart remained a steady anchor all night as the group tuned up “Let You Down,” the lone song performed from the band’s new album Poison the Parish, as well as classics like, “Words as Weapons,” “Truth, “Remedy,” and a cover of Thrice’s “Black Honey.”
It was an enthusiastic and exciting show all the way around, but for me, Kaleido was the scene stealer. Seether graciously hung around for an after party with fans hosted by 100.3 Xrocks upstairs at 9th St. Parallel. As one fan put it; “All and all the night was close to perfect.”
Huge thanks as always to Gary, Treva, Justin, Gina, and the entire Knitting Factory staff.

Maggie Rogers: Now That the Light Is Fading
Maggie Rogers’ “Alaska” was born with the kind of serendipitous discovery story entire TV series are commissioned to replicate. She was one of many students at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, a school with enough largesse to commission Pharrell Williams for a masterclass. That half-hour listening session made it to YouTube in its entirety, but the highlight was obvious. Eighteen minutes in, when Rogers played an early demo of her song “Alaska,” a star was born: Rogers, in a casual sweater and jeans, eyes averted, wincing in that way one does when hearing their own voice; Pharrell, moved to tears, invoking Stevie Wonder and the Wu-Tang Clan in his praise. The video went viral on the musical enclaves of Reddit, always ready to laud anything that sounds acoustic or authentic, and thus followed everything virality brings: getting signed, a headlining North American tour, the interview circuit, and hundreds of thousands of fans from the get go.
Like most famous discovery stories, though, this one doesn’t quite start at the beginning. Though she’s since been fêted around as an entirely new voice, Rogers has four releases on Bandcamp dating back to 2012. Recorded in high school, they show great promise in a specific genre: banjo- and ukelele-driven folk indebted to Joni Mitchell and Patti Smith. There are hints at Rogers’ current expanded direction on these early tracks, in the cirrus flicks of synths on “Drift” off 2014’s Blood Ballet, the cello-enhanced “Satellite,” or the entirety of The Response, a remix album of 2012’s The Echo that proves Rogers’ music is amenable, at least in theory, to dance. But for the most part the Bandcamp material provides thoughtful examples of a genre that’s simultaneously thriving and, unless your surname is Mumford, deeply, deeply unmarketable.
Rogers credits her new, synthier direction on “Alaska” and subsequent five-song EP Now That the Light Is Fading to a year of clubbing in Europe, but an equally apt explanation may involve facts of the marketplace. Pharrell said “Alaska” was like nothing he’d ever heard, but in 2017 it fits right in: a gently lilting beat that vaguely evokes tropicalia (or, for that matter, the Neptunes in their prime) along with a falsetto pre-chorus that vaguely evokes R&B. The result isn’t far off from Broods, or early Ellie Goulding, or, to go back to the last time folktronica blew everyone’s minds, early Beth Orton. Follow-up single “Dog Years,” dotted with pan flutes, comes across as the exact midpoint of Peter Gabriel, Lorde, and “Bleeding Love,” and while no one’s done that particular intersection lately, the industry’s certainly revived everything in the vicinity.
Perhaps this is why Now That the Light Is Fading feels transitional, as if Rogers is unsure how far from trad-folk she wants to stray. On one end of the spectrum is “Color Song,” which consists of bird chirps, Rogers’ multitracked choral vocals, and not much else. The track’s melody drifts up and down the scale like an old hymn or trad-Americana cut as the lyric lingers on certain evocative details (when she sings the word “creeping,” her vocals are tracked a split second off one another, letting the consonants crackle in the air), and nothing anywhere suggests Pharrell’s involvement, spiritual or otherwise. “On + Off” floats Rogers’ voice above a choppy, Flume-like backing track and insistent piano loop, and “Better” lets her sink amid a drone; both directions are promising, but in separate ways that don’t quite cohere. Rogers is a promising songwriter when unattended—“Alaska” in particular is full of understated heartbreak, sort of like a PG take on Tori Amos—but the poppier tracks here often dissolve into soft-rock nothingness.
A lot of this might resolve itself in time. Rogers is still very young at 22, after all, and she takes several game attempts at subtlety throughout the EP—the pan flute, the guitar line rippling through “On + Off” like wind chimes, the featherlight harmonies. She has a platform. She’s got ideas. But like all discovery stories, the real reward lies in what comes next.
