A cult following among Summoners would like to see a playable Marvel Contest of Champions character based on the comic book character Firelord. This article explores his relationship with the game and its community.
Worthy of Marvel Games and MCOC?
It is always more difficult to evaluate the seaworthiness of an obscure name. While quietly prolific by an obscure character’s standards, Firelord is far from mainstreamed.
His advantage comes from his potential place in the meta. Kabam has shown keen interest in connecting all things to Galactus in 2019 and 2020, so no Herald is likely entirely off the table. As Heralds go, Firelord has appeared more often than most. For context, Air-Walker has appeared around seventeen times on Earth-616, whereas Firewalker’s Earth-616 instance has more than 100 comics appearances under his belt. Because heralds are important, and he’s one of the most commonly recurring ones, it makes sense to predict his eventual arrival if Kabam’s focus on Heralds of Galactus continues into the end of 2020 and even the beginning of 2021.
Material for the Battlerealm
There’s a good deal of material to work with in Pyreus Krill.
Champion Class
Firelord would likely fall in the Cosmic class, just like his fellow Heralds Silver Surfer, Terrax, and Air-Walker. Krill’s powers come almost exclusively from Galactus’ having given Pyreus the Power Cosmic, so Cosmic makes sense.
Champion Abilities
Fire and magnetism abilities, energy projection and maybe absorption, and a wide variety of synergies with X-Men, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Heralds of Galactus, and other teams.
Possible Synergies
As a Xandarian, he is affiliated with the Nova Corps and fellow Herald of Galactus Air-Walker.
Other current Heralds of Galactus such as Silver Surfer, and Terrax, and future additions like Nova (Frankie Raye), Morg, Stardust, Tyrant, Thor (Herald of Thunder), and the Destroyer Armor.
He can also pair up well with other manipulators of the electromagnetic spectrum, including Monica Rambeau, Blue Marvel, Firestar, and Ikaris.
Others to consider would be United Front and Earth-691 Guardians of the Galaxy members. He’s an ally of the Kree.
Matchups
He knows Nova Corps tech and combat tactics. Maybe that gives him some advantage against Nova and Nova (Sam Alexander)? That does not seem like something the Kabam developers would do.
He’s possibly somewhat canceled out by other Magnetize champs, but maybe not, given he would not have a #metal hashtag.
He probably should be Incinerate Immune, and likely Shock Immune or Shock-enhanced. (So do use him against Human Torch or Sunspot, but don’t use him when Masacre is on a Freezer Burn node.)
In Other Games
He was in the original NES Silver Surfer game, which is one of the most respected games for that console. He was also in the Marvel mobile card game Marvel: War of Heroes.

Summoners have mentioned Firelord 24 65 times on the message boards and upvoted him 13 71 times on the poll.

The worst part about GotG books (aside from the fact that they just aren’t very good) is that because they really don’t cross over with any of the other books so most of their storylines are self contained, and as such when they show up you almost always have to read like 12 of them in a row and man... that isn’t super fun sometimes...

Two things here (well kinda three.) First, Starhawk is obviously trying to reboot Firelord by plowing him into a sun, but Nikki is kinda dumb and she things he is trying to kill her crush... a man made of molten sun stuff... cause yeah... just not very bright...
Second we have this set up for our next “a character you know, but different!” we are gonna get in the next book, with some kind of flamed creature that is killing people...
and finally we see Replica catching someone sneaking around the ship which will be more important in a future issue.

We get a random 5 page Watcher interjection where he explains to us who the Stark are... the long short is that the GotG universe is also the War of the Worlds universe, and when the martians attacked Tony sent his armor into space so the Martians couldn't get it... except then it wound up in the hands of a savage undeveloped race, that wind up worshiping Tony as a god and also raging war across the galaxy.
This is like, Tony’s worst fear, his designs used for evil, so you know there is gonna be some splashback of this into the main universe.
