Disassembly Drone Body Langauge part 1

Mostly wings and some tail

probably gonna add some more unique ones once i figure this out properly. hrmmm

my important ones are the upwards wing pose being territorial / courting, and the tail wag being happy or on edge.

Some extras that i might draw later if i figure out how idk:

They will naturally wrap their tails around people they like in a wide arc. It’s something that could go unnoticed, even by the DD, as they just do it subconsciously. You can figure out who a DD is protective over this way.

Pointing their wings outwards but flattening them (rotating them into a horizontal pose instead of a vertical one) and crouching down a little is seen as being submissive. Dominant ones will normally have their wings positioned wider and vertical.

Also some elaborations because i like talking about shit i make up:

Sometimes when courting they’ll shake their wings a little bit to make them appear glittery or more flashy, which makes some soft clinking noises.

Their tails abide by dog and cat-like mannerisms. They wag when happy, tuck them under their legs when scared or worried, will slowly wave them around when agitated.

N does this unique (and cute!) thing where he holds his tail in his hands when he’s worried like some stuffed animal. kind of

anyways i love non-verbal methods of communication and i will do this again

A Realization I Had About Episode 6:

When "Tessa" tells N about the choice he has to make, it's a misdirection. Like, obviously what we interpreted when 6 was the most recent episode was "If you choose Uzi, everyone else will die." But now that we know what Tessa really was, it recontextualizes this statement.

Flesha wants the other solver drones dead, we don't know exactly why, but it's likely that it's some kind of thing where it's like Pokemon Dragon types, where the only thing that can kill the Solver is the Solver (Especially after they destroyed the Patch).

When "Tessa" tells N to choose the universe or Uzi, it's not asking what he wants to save, but who he'll have to destroy.

If he chooses to save the universe and kill Uzi, he'll accidentally destroy it all, and not even Uzi will be left with him.

If he chooses Uzi, the person he cares so much about, then she'll survive long enough to dive into the belly of the beast, and get killed anyways... or become the next host.

The choice N makes isn't the choices he was offered. And in the end, the most important decision of his life has been rigged by the being who has ruined his chances at happiness dozens of times over.

Disassembly Drone Body Language part 2, this time with more color and more Nuzi

sorry for the confusing circle graphic but i hope it gets my point across

theyre so cute all my bones are rotting. like. im so normal, about them. not even funny i am being corroded

some extras that i didnt know what to draw for them / didnt have space:

N will sometimes lay on uncomfortable terrain and Uzi lays on top of him so she’s comfy

when they hang upside down, their tails are still curled around each other. Uzi’s wings are wrapped around N, and N’s are wrapped around Uzi. N’s are on the outside so they form a more defensive cocoon to protect her, since she’s smaller and her wings are made of flesh and can’t use them to block attacks

^ speaking of, N is able to use his wings as a shield, which is something that’s actually shown in the show! (think “quit saving me!” in episode 3 and him guarding her from the explosion at the end of episode 2) He’s able to block stuff like bullets and whatnot, which leads him to covering others with his wings to protect them. That only applies to the solid metal bladed feathers on his wings, the “arms” are as vulnerable as the rest of his body, since they’re not solid. They have actual mechanics in them, both for the arms and the blades of the wings in there. They just move the blades around because theyre just solid shapes.

They breath / smell with their mouth, and both DD and WD can inhale air to cool down their internal systems. They don’t need to breathe but they will, especially when stressed. This is more of a widespread robot thing but I felt I should mention it.

(also no sadly N cant actually helicopter with his tail. its too thin and he needs more tails to do that)

Someone on Twitter was surprised/confused by the Disassembly/Murder Drones' very large wingspan, but actually, this is a stroke of realism as this is consistent with giant soaring species from real life. The bigger you're overall body size/weight, your wings must be proportionally larger to compensate. Allow me to elaborate further on this.

Now upon first hearing that, one might suggest the Murder Drones' wings should be even larger since they're robots and are probably heavier than organic life. But this isn't true cause Worker Drones are extremely light seeing as Tessa can easily carry them, Murder Drones are clearly much larger perhaps 2-4xs the weight but likely not much heavier than a human judging by the physics presented.

There are many benefits to being gigantic fliers over other types of flight. For one it is perhaps the move efficent form of long distance travel in nature; the wing's surface area generates a lot of lift/power, the mass of the body means gives them with stability and a resistance against the elements. This means they can fly at great heights and travels massive distances on few and shallow wingbeats for extended while burning next to no energy. The benefits this has for Disassembly Drones should be obvious regarding the "nature" of their being. And despite the robots clearily staying afloft at least partially by artifical means such as hovering, it's clear the huge wings are still mandatory to achieve.

Ofcourse there are other benefits to this form travel such as spotting and getting the drop on unsuspecting prey, quite literally in this case. While they aren't as heavily armed as the machines, being a giant flier requires a lot nutrients, something plants can't provide without being a detriment to flying ability at this scale. So that only left meat on the table and therefore all truly large soaring animals are carnviores. Now there are steamrolling to this, as flying means they sweep through numerous areas effectively and burning relatively little energy between visits. Allowing them to binge on many small meals or a single large one and rest it off in a high place where enemies cannot reach them,(although adults tend not to have any predators).

Ofcourse this is mostly speculative and I don't believe Liam or Glitch thought this hard about extinct birds and pterosaurs to explain wings meant mostly to look cool/scary while also stabbing/blocking things. But it's fun when interesting elements in a world actually fits in with reality as it grounds the fiction, making the world more emersive.

P.S. To any artists making MD OCs larger than the characters, go wild.
