"GameFreak is what's holding back Pokemon"
You asked and The Pokemon Company listened: presenting the first non-GameFreak core Pokemon game!
Tumblr media
It's a stripped down port remake that misunderstands the art direction of the classic that it salvages for nostalgia bait! Oh, you don't like this?
How about a heavily monetized version of Google Maps?
Tumblr media
Do you see what I'm saying here? Replacing GameFreak isn't going to give us better games. Without them, Pokemon will just hire the cheapest studio willing to make their soulless nostalgia bait. Pokemon's main profit comes from merch and that's all they need to sell it.
I know GameFreak is no victim, but I'm defending them because I don't want them to go away. They speak like they honestly love what they do, and I just don't want gamers to kill that.
Edit: ILCA isn't a bad studio, and Niantic...well that's a different can of worms. Also, I'm not talking about side ventures like Pokemon New Snap. There's no reason to rush that because the franchise doesn't depend on it. My point is, no matter what company they hire to make the games the franchise depends on, The Pokemon Company will rush them for their merchandise schedule.
Edited to remove the assertion that The Pokemon Company held back ILCA's vision for BDSP. As commenters pointed out, the source did not substantiate this claim.

They’re STILL complaining about Sword and Shield! The game’s been out for nearly half a decade and they still can’t stop comparing it to real life events that actually negatively affects people.
And they’re still using the “they increased the price” like it wasn’t expected from the start?!  They’re Switch games. Of course they’re going to be the same price as most Switch games. “The Switch game is the same price as most Switch games!” is the dumbest argument against any game.

Crobat isn’t in SV. Two generations in a row my baby boy has become a victim of Dexit. I am now making a movement titled Mothers Offended Against Bat Segregation (MOABS) in Paldea to rally my outcry over Crobat being a victim of Dexit in two consecutive regions. Donations start at 500 Poké Dollars.

I don't care if you how you personally feel about Sun and Moon/USUM, but can we all take a moment to band together and agree that it gave us some of the best Pokedex entries in the series?
Tumblr media
EVERY single species in the Pokedex, or at least close to it, gained brand-new entries with interesting and well-though out information, including a lot of ecology-based lore. Most gens literally just copy/paste the same entries over and over. your fav could NEVER

The New Scarlet/Violet Features Are ALL Glitched, and It's Definitely GameFreak
So let me get this straight.
A bunch of people lost their Scarlet/Violet save data simply by getting the DLC. Same thing with the Vivillion postcard feature. And right before that, a bunch of people accidentally ended up with a bad egg because the game didn't make them update before showing them Walking Wake and Iron Leaves raids.
Okay, I've defended GameFreak a long time, but this is how you know it's a mismanagement problem on their end. They always, always make people update before using new online content, and the fact they forgot is a rookie mistake!
ALL of the new features from the Pokemon Presents are glitched and risky to use especially since game backups do not exist, Thank You, Pokemon! They haven't fixed the base game, and they shoveled more broken content on top of that.
Not to mention this content is legitimately good material from the artists at GameFreak, and it hurts to see it shoveled out unceremoniously in barely functional competitive raids and a generally broken game. They had to REMOVE NPC's to make the game work better!
The reason I waited to get the DLC is because I wondered if it was even ethical with the obvious crunch culture on their end, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I didn't expect it to be an actual risk to my save data.
And what a great time for the 3DS eShop to go down, to confront the question of whether or not I should transfer my old collection, the collection from a bygone era where GameFreak actually had quality control.
I was wrong. The management problem has to be at GameFreak.

Sou would be on the first plane to Paldea the second he knows this thing exists.
And then have to devote way too much time and energy training it to stop taking potshots at all the Corviknight taxis once he brings it back to Galar ^-^

If you are still complaining abt the lack of a national dex then I'm BEGGING you to take a look at how large the file sizes for games can get when you start to add more and more content to them.
I understand being miffed if your favorite pokemon isn't in a game but like. Shit dude, something tells me the software demands for managing more than 1000 pokemon, along w the storage demands, would be extremely unsustainable, ESPECIALLY on something like the Nintendo switch.
How do I know this? Because I took a semester IT class last year and I got to work with making apps n stuff. The more files you add, the larger the general file for your app/website becomes. High quality 3d models already have so many polygons on their own. Over a thousand? Within a base game? Not happening easily. That's not mentioning how much space textures, alternate textures, LOD textures, animations, and hell, the coding for different behaviors would take up.
