Clash of Justice Arc: Inkopolis Forever! (Conclusion)
((Agent 7, Abigial, and other belong to me.
Robin belongs to @alpinesquib
Fulgur belongs to @hybrid-havoc-haven))
While Bigfin Splatoon, The Holy Quintet, and Inkopolis allies are securing Port Mackerel and the cargo ship, Agent 7 is entering the ship’s interior to go after Abigail and the remaining Bettas of the Inkopolis Family.
It took a while to fight his way to the lower decks of the interior and into the storage area.
Here, there is a number of Inkopolis assets stored, ranging from investments made during the mayoral campaign to massive stacks of voting ballots (likely rigged or forged to be in favor of Abigail).
Oddly enough, there was too few Bettas present as he only encountered 12 in the hallways and corridors and only four in the storage area.
Something is not right. Was there not that many who remained loyal to Abigail?
He proceeds further, passing by stacks of crates and barrels. His N-zap ‘89 is in hand as he moves along. He stops to checks for any map layout and finds on a board that he is in the middle of the ship’s storage deck.
He can see the railings above and one opposite sides of the ship interior. There are no chargers.
Someone is watching him. It’s silent.
“Abigial!” Agent 7 calls out. “Come out now! You’re under arrest! It’s over!”
He quickly aimed at an area as something turns on. It appears to be an open computer laptop, playing a video recording.
In the video, there appeared to be a female inkling taunting her interrogators, joking about how they should treat the youth if they love their innocence so much. The joke was too far that Abigial’s voice can be heard, ordering a Betta to shot her with the charger at the convict’s head.
Agent 7 takes the time to close that laptop before continuing the search. He can’t stay here for too long.
Then he is stopped by another laptop with a video of another inkling. Then another laptop with a video of an octoling. So on and so on. They all showed them trying to defy Abigail before being splatted. They all ended with the citizen’s name and their status as executed for crimes against inkopolis, except it labelled at Inkopolis being safe from them.
This leave Agent 7 unsettled until he stops at the middle of the ship where there is a clearing. A light is hanging over someone tied up in a chair and with a bag over their hair. He recognizes the jacket and jeans.
Robin!
Agent 7 quickly approaches her, but then notices something off. He grabs the bag over her head and pulls it off, revealing nothing. He kicked the fake body over and exposes the false body.
More lights come on and Agent 7 looks at the balconies in the area; underneath him a spawner activates for him. He then spots Abigail applauding. Two bettas are present with her and they have their splattershot pros aimed at Robin herself. She looks almost upset yet afraid; when she saw Agent 7, she feels guilty.
Robin appears in denim jack and jeans, a white shirt, and sneakers. Her star hair clip is still there. Nothing else has changed.
“You made it, Agent 7... alone,” Abigail congratulates, “That is good. Just need to filter the factor that is the thorn on my side. Your meddling. All of the agency’s meddling and cost me my mayor position.”
Agent 7 aims his N-zap ‘89 at her, but knows he can shoot her with this splattershot. He needs a charger class ink weapon.
“What are you doing with Robin?” He questions.
“She is the last of my allies.” Abigail puts her hands down, glaring at Agent 7. “The rest were splatted, arrested, or they abandoned me. My own Inkopolis Family.”
Agent 7 kept his ink-weapon on her as she started walking down the balcony.
“You see Agent 7... Life isn’t fair. We all know that as a fact. I guess it’s a principle that I forgot as I progressed.” Abigail paces from one part of the balcony to another. “But I am still fighting on. I may have lost my support, my mayoral seat, and the campaign, but I will be back for the next elections. Even if it means pressuring them to put me back on the ballots. Just another few speeches and promises and a revision of my agenda and the public will rally behind me again. The Inkopolis Family will beg me to lead them again!”
“You’re a monster, Abigial!” Agent 7 points his N-zap ‘89 at her. “You’re also a murder, a traitor, and a coward!”
This makes Abigial laugh. “Is that all? What next, will you just splat me in the name of justice! Such hypocrisy coming from the Agent that fell in love with a Squid Sister!”
This throws Agent 7 off. His relationship with the Squid Sister, Marie, is private and harmless. On top of that, they’ve kept it professional as Agents since Marie is also Agent 2. How Abigial obtained this information not surprising yet it’s low.
“Leave her out of this,” Agent 7 responds, “This is between you and me!”
“Not this it between you and the Inkopolis Family!” Abigail has a Beta hand her a charge and she aims.
“This justice of your stemmed from more than just the loss of a home, your ability to have children, and your family. What have any of your enemies here in Inkopolis have done to you!” Agent 7 lowers his N-zap ‘89.
Abigial’s smile become unhinged but then she gives a cold look. “You may think its all because of some dirty joke or people humiliating me.... but you want to know what they did wrong to me? Not... a... thing... It’s a matter of who is evil based on belief.”
A belief that is forced on those who don’t share them. Agent 7 is now understanding the truth about her reasoning. There is none.
“I am Abigail Atled Calliostro! The Queen of Splat-Down! And Founder of the new Inkopolis Family! And I must thank you for helping me thin down the numbers and getting rid of the weaklings!” She aims her charger at him. “And now I must repay you.”
“You wouldn’t dare...” Agent 7 steps back.
“I will not make a martyr out of you, Agent 7! I will bring justice and order to the city! I will become mayor next elections! I will put down all you agents, hybrids, and others!”
Before she can pull the trigger, Robin snaps out of her state and quickly rushes to Abigial to grab the charger. Abigail fires but misses Agent 7 by a hair and he would flinch a bit.
“Robin!? You dare assault!” Abigail’s eye are wide and she bares her teeth in an unhinged fury.
“I am saving my friend!” Robin struggles to yanks the charge away from Abigail. “I shouldn’t be afraid of the threats your Inkopolis Family made towards me! I should’ve known this was wrong! It’s my fault for letting Inkopolis suffer while I stood back!”
“You are lost then, you puny Squid!” Abigail exclamation makes the Betas gasp, having hear their leader said Squid instead of something neutral.
In the struggle, Robin is able to take the charger away from Abigail, but Abigail herself ends up falling off the balcony and onto the lower levels where Agent 7 is.
Still, these Betas do not turn on Abigail and instead aim at Robin. They are too afraid of opposing Abigail. Robin steps away and sees the other Betas gather. She is surrounded.
Then, Officer Fulgur, the Magical Squids from Mitakihara, and Bigfin Splatoon come on time and take out the Betas.
“Agent 7, the ship is ours!” Fulgur states before directing his attention to Abigail. “All that’s left it you now, miss. You should’ve turn yourself in while you still had the chance.” He then went over to Robin who is shiver in fear. He places a hand on her should and nods. “It’s over.”
This made Robin tear up, drop her charger, and cover her face.
Abigail recovers and she gets up. She kicks a crate and opens it to reveal a hero-model splatling.
“You want to arrest me, so be it...” Abigail grabs the splatling and aims at Agent 7. “But I wont go down without a fight.”
Agent 7 sigh and aim his N-zap ‘89. “I want all agents and allies present to not interfere! We’ll do this the hard way.”
“Typical.” Abigail wastes no time firing her shots from the splatling.
A strange metallic cube appears, floating over Abigail. It scans her before floating about the storage area. Whatever this device is, it seems new.
The weapons’ barrels spin about and shooting relentless drops of ink. She walks about in a steady yet sure pace, turning into a squid to close in on Agent 7 and toss a few curling bombs and fire again.
Agent 7 tries to widen the gap and find cover. He fires his ink sparingly and swim about the storage area. He tosses sprinklers to cover as much turf for the fight. Once covered, he swims through the new paths to fire at Abigail either on the flanks or from behind.
Abigail will get hit a few times, but switches sub-weapons and throws a splat bomb at his face. Agent 7 is able to avoid the blast, sustaining only a bit of damage. Abigail uses this advantage and fire her hero-splatling and slow him down before splatting him.
He would respawn and rush to make some distance between him and Abigail.
He tosses a sprinkler toward her and fire enough to make a trail. He turns into a squid and swims towards her, coming out and firing. He splats her.
The metallic cube floating into the air acts up and turns a nice magenta before aiming at a spot. It shoots out a squid and it reveals to be Abigail who changes back and lands with her hero splatling.
At this point, Agent 7 seems to see Abigail’s tactics as just simple, but it’s what made her known at the Squid of Splat-Down. She uses light tactics and builds up from there to deliver hard-hitting blow that win the game by demoralizing the team.
All he needs to do is outflank her and close in when unexpected.
Bit by bit, his advances proceed to weaken Abigail more and more. All Agent 7 had to do is avoid the hard-hitting attacks.
Soon, Abigail gets splatted more frequently to the point where her unique spawner beaks after the 7th respawn. Her legs are shaking and she can barely carry her hero splatling.
Agent 7 walks up to her and aim his N-zap ‘89 at her. “It’s game.”
“Oh no... no no no..... I won’t go out like this... time to be a true hero.” She takes out a small remote. “Watch me save Inkopolis from the likes of you.
Everyone present wants to stop her. Who know what the remote would do. However, Agent 7 made it clear to not interfere, and he is quick to hit the deck and avoid whatever would come out of this.
With just one press of the button. The collar around her neck beeps repeatedly before splatting her. She will not respawn.
The blast is not large enough to take anyone with her. Agent 7 is able to avoid getting hit by the ink.
It may be anticlimactic... but it’s over...
Fulgur sighs and shakes his head. “Lets get you home, miss.” His priority is to escort Robin home.
As for the others, they make sure all the cargo is accounted for and that any Inkopolis Family assets are found and defused.
Abigial’s campaign is over.

Researching My Original Chosen Trend -
My chosen trend has been titled 'Grunge Romance' by the WGSN company and is a hybrid of the subcultures emo/grunge and romanticism. The reason for choosing this trend and why is resonates with me is because I love the alternative style and how music is a clear strong influence of the subculture. I also love how delicate fabric is used in a unconventional way to create outfits that are seen as beautiful but with dark, emotional features and connotations.
The style 'Emo' started as a music genre that took hardcore music but put emotional lyrics over them. Instead of being aggressive like hardcore bands, these types played into emotion, vulnerability, and femininity. This led to the fashion style having a more feminine aspect with the heavy makeup, tight clothes, and long hair. 'Grunge' has roots in 1990s rock, like Nirvana and The Grateful Dead. It focuses on a dissatisfaction with modern society and dirty visuals. It is a more casual style that can almost appear not put-together. Many grunge artists were poor, so a lot of the style comes from thrift stores- baggy shirts, ripped jeans, and combat boots or Doc Martens. The influences of 'Romanticism' brought forth fashion trends from the past- such as neck ruffs, slashing (the process of cutting away fabric to reveal what is beneath), and a variety of medieval sleeve styles. Sleeve style were both long and short.
Grunge fashion began to break into mainstream fashion in mid-1992 and peaked in late 1993 and early 1994. Courtney Love has been considered one of the top ten women who defined 1990s style by popularizing the "kinderwhore" style. The kinderwhore look consisted of torn, ripped tight or low-cut babydoll and Peter-Pan-collared dresses, slips, heavy makeup with dark eyeliner, barrettes, and leather boots or Mary–Jane shoes.
Kurt Cobain was the male style icon of the subculture in the late 80s and early 90s; he made the cardigan, messy long hair, striped sweaters, and flannels popular. Even though the grunge movement died down in 1994 after his death, designers have continued to draw inspiration from the movement.
The grunge look evolves again in the mid 2000s with trends such as low-rise jeans, denim jackets, band shirts, knee length jean shorts, crop tops, cargo pants, trench coats, leather jackets and band shirts. Grunge fashion also embraced the influence of the punk adjacent music scene during this time. Some grunge style icons at this time were Avril Lavigne and members of the band The Strokes. Grunge appeared as a trend again in 2008, and for Fall/Winter 2013, Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent brought back grunge to the runway.
During the mid 2010s we started to see mainstream brands like Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters, and Nordstrom selling grunge basics like ripped jeans, usually skinny jeans, flannels, skirts, boots, tights, and sweaters. During this time, grunge evolved into a more chic look for women but for men at this time didn’t change too much. It was typical for the alternative/grunge to wear flannels on top of a band shirt with jeans and some converse. Today, we see brands like Brandy Melville start up and embrace the grunge looks from the past during this time in a modern and less expressive way.
These past few years have been influenced by cargos and wide legged trousers. In 2021, grunge pieces would be oversized cardigans or sweaters, a flannel, a few band shirts from the 90s, cargos, mom jeans, doc martens, and converse.
In terms of the industry and products today, this style of clothing is still seen in shops such as Urban Outfitters and vintage stores, where a more alternative style is celebrated. Being a less mainstream trend, Grunge Romance is more of a niche subculture.

In this particular trend, you can see that the general shape of the clothing varies from loose to tight fitting, rather than following a strict rule. As stated in the description 'the unpolished and irregular look makes this a key direction for 'deadstock design' which leads to the main materials being 'recycled and excess fabrics, repurposed and leftover trims, and combine in patched and blocked designs.' These materials include cotton, lace/mesh, cut and sew, knitwear, partywear, hosiery, denim.

Caroline Reznik’s -
As referenced on the WGSN website, Caroline Reznik is a designer who uses elements of this trend in her collections. She fuses the grunge aesthetic with delicate material and feminine shapes to communicate this trend. Above is an example of one her of her pieces.

Matilda Sundkler -
Another designer referenced on the WGSN website for embracing this trend is Matilda Sundkler. She makes her fabric from the discarded wool thrown away by the meat industry instead of killing more animals specifically for wool. This is a much more sustainable way of using animals for recourses. Above is an example of a dress designed and made by her and her company.

 Shauna Wu -
The third designer referenced is Taiwanese-Singaporean designer Shauna Wu. She uses deadstock or upcycled materials to create tied and knotted pieces, inspired by ceremonial Chinese knotting practices, and then dyes them with ingredients found in traditional Chinese medicine. The use of upcycled materials means her process of manufacturing is much more sustainable than most. Above is an example of her work.

Tumblr media

This is the first step which is measuring the waist size, put size tape, whether in inches or centimeters, around your body at the point of your waist or belly button or where you are planning to fasten the kilt. Normally a kilt is fastened at the belly button, but it’s totally up to you where you want to fasten it. Popular German trouser brand Alberto is gearing up to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2022. And its new summer 2022 collection does disappoint when it comes to pants that integrate technology at every level. From the high-tech Hybrid Sports Pants to digital prints to the Red Selvedge, which is produced on narrow looms in the old Japanese tradition, Alberto’s newest collection is not one to miss.
“In 2022, we’ll be celebrating 100 years of Alberto, an emotional event,” said Marco Lanowy, managing director at Alberto. “Instead of an anniversary collection, we prefer to keep doing what has made our company successful for 100 years: giving tradition a new face by modeling the future with innovative products.”
With the introduction of the Hybrid Sports Pants range two seasons ago, Alberto began to offer multifunctional styles that increase the performance and safety of their wearer on any terrain. For next summer, the Mönchengladbach-based company will be presenting a hybrid cargo style in the Japanese-minimalist outdoor style called ‘Pack.’ This is a winner with both the Revolutional and the Coolmax Superlight fabrications, and not just thanks to smart detail work. The trousers are also breathable, temperature-regulating, quick-drying, dirt- and water-repellent, and also protect against UV rays. While the mesh lining provides even more comfort and airiness, the front and side cargo pockets offer plenty of storage space for everyday essentials. And speaking of pockets and storage space: if you need or want to minimize the size of your pants while you’re traveling for reasons of space, you can do it in just a few simple steps. Just roll up the trousers, stow them comfortably in the large, integrated zipped back pocket and carry the package casually with the shoulder strap, or store in a suitcase or jacket pocket – it’s that small.
“Cyclists, golfers, and hikers appreciate the Hybrid Sports Pants mainly because of their features, but at the same time more and more customers are turning to the styles for purely fashion reasons,” added Lanowy. “For me, the new ‘Pack,’ which can be rolled up and packed into the zipper back pocket, is a real highlight of the collection. I’m curious to see what kind of feedback we get here.”
And, don’t miss the brand-new Made in Japan Coolmax Superlight fabric. With a weight of just 160 grams/running meter, it doesn’t just weigh less than half as much as the competitor 3xDRY Cooler (325 grams/running meter) fabric, it even makes the previous record lightweight Revolutional (285 grams/running meter) fabric look pretty heavy in direct comparison. It goes without saying that this new fabric is also washable throughout, extremely quick-drying, temperature-balancing, and completely water-repellent. For the 2022 summer season, Alberto is presenting four pants made of Coolmax Superlight in its bike and hybrid sports series: the ‘House-K,’ the ‘Fresh-K,’ the brand-new ‘Pack,’ and the ‘Jump’ – a chino with drawstring and reflective tie straps that has also just been added to the range.
Since 2015, Alberto has offered pant options for those who like to bike in their daily lives. Fast forward to the 2022 summer season, and the company is presenting a new collection that fuses tried-and-tested functional features with tech qualities, featuring an integrated anti-slip band, stretchy waistband, high cut design in the seat area, and cleverly positioned reflectors. In addition to casual and business jeans and chinos made of temperature-regulating and dirt-repellent 3xDRY Cooler and extra-light breathable, quick-drying, and UV-resistant Revolutional, the range now includes jeans made of Dryarn, an extremely light performance denim that not only has an authentic look, but also has properties that support wild riders on bikes over short distances as well as long ones. Also, be on the lookout for the Sportchino ‘Bike Jump’ with reflective cord, the ‘Limit’ with adjustable press studs at the leg ends and, the Bike ‘Pack’ with mesh lining and cargo pockets, which can be rolled up in a few easy steps and conveniently stowed in the large integrated zippered back pocket.
And, the brand is continuing to do its part to enact more sustainable practices in its line. Alberto notes that it works primarily with organic cotton and recycled yarns from Italy, and fair working conditions throughout the production process are being used. The brand also added that its denim for summer 2022 is made of soft organic cotton with elastane in various washes.
“We already work very intensively with organic cotton and recycled yarns on the basis of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label, but it’s always an ongoing process,” concluded Lanowy. “I find it very exciting how much is currently happening in the area of sustainable materials and finishes. This gives us the opportunity to close our gaps in sustainability bit by bit. We think it’s important to develop a long-lasting, unique product in an ecological, humanly respectful, and fair way. For us, these are self-evident facts. We don’t really want to emphasize them anymore, not least because we don’t deal with the issue of sustainability for marketing reasons, but because we consider it our duty to do our best in this area.”

Rewrite Chap 1 Draft
((Okay, so, I made a message on this and why the story disappeared and now rewriting it))
Sprinkle sat blankly on his couch. He was a scrawny fourteen year old skeleton. He was currently with his mother for the week, since his parents were divorced and his dad had more rights he rarely got to see his four siblings. His seven year old sister, Lyrically, sitting in his lap as they watched Aladdin. Lyrically had a turquiose magically generated hair that was tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing a graphic tee and some vibrant colored shorts. His youngest brother, Muffin, a small skeleton/wolf hybrid with mocha fur on his ears and tail along wih a plain white shirt and cargo shorts came rushing in, he jumped onto the couch and curled up at Sprinkle’s ankles. Sprinkle smiled, he always enjoyed staying with his siblings. He never really got to feel like someone cared about him with his ad who had a tendacy to be... Aggressive. Yeah, we’ll leave it at that.
The young teen could here his chronically sick older brother, Remix, chatting away with some internet friend in the other room. No one really questioned when he was on the phone with someone, it was the only form of contact he had outside of his family. See, Remix had something called Error Illness, which slowly made his body decay. He had a trained mobility dog to help him get from place to place around the house. Let’s look at this older brother for a bit. He was sixteen. He had been diagnosed with his illness at two, and had been babied by his parents ever since. He didn’t see his father much, for he lived with his mother. He couldn’t get out of the house easily. He was strapped to an IV 24/7, for he wasn’t very healthy, but he was surviving. That’s wat mattered. His dog was curled up in his lap, he had named the little mutt Sav.     “Aw, look its the doggo!” He friend commented seeing the unknown mix breed dog curled up on Remix’s chest,      “Yep! My munchkin’s here!” Remix cheered, kissing Sav’s ear. He gave the dog a tight hug. His friend on the other end of the line laughed,     “Hey, Sollux?” Remix asked the slightly older male on his phone screen. The boy with black hair, pale skin and pointy ears perked up, his left eye was co pletely gone,  along with the skin around the socket, resulting in an empty eye socket. The only way his head wasn’t constanly bleeding was because of the skin layer inside his eye that covered the socket and would’ve held the eye that wasn’t there. A void of black in the center of his face, which he usually kept covered by his hair, but he felt comfortable with Remix so he let the skeleton see his missing eye. This was a birth deffect due to his skeletal mother and human father. His hands were also just bon, along with a bit of his right shoulder. But he usually stayed covered up and hid this fact about himself.     “Whatcha need, Mix?” Sollux asked, perking up his strange ears.  “Your eye freaks me out sometimes.” Remix said with a grin, Sollux scowled and gave a sly smile as he put the socket closer to the camera, “Oh really now?” He said with a chuckle in his voice. Remix covered hsi phone screen, “Hey! Quit it, Jerk!” Remix giggled, uncovering the screen. The two laughed together for a bit. “Oh! If my eye freaks you out, here!” SOllux wiggled his fingers in front of the camera,     “I really don’t understand how you survive! You’re so wierd, Sol!” Remix replied, seeing Sollux’s twin in the background. SOllux and his twin, Mituna, were identical. Well, except the fact both of Mituna’s eyes were gone, resulting in almost total blindess, that’s why Mituna had a sight dog. The skin at Mituna’s sockets was completely gone, making almost a mask type thing on his skull. Motuna wore a bumblebee shirt and jeans, while SOllux had on a Panic! At the Disco tee along with torn denim pants.      Mituna was giggling in the background while playing with one of his bee plushies, he was mentally disable and would contstantly have the mind of a five year old. He jumped onto his brother resulting in Sollux dropping his phone.    “Oof! Tuna get off! “Who you talking to?” Mituna picked up the phone and tried to look at the camera, his hair falling over his eyes.     “Remix! Now get off!” SOllux demanded moodily,  “Oh, your boyfriend?” Mituna teased “HE IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND, TUNA!”
((yes, we’re focusing on other characters just as much as Sprinkle. He probably won’t have as much of a role anymore. I really don’t like how I made the original story CENTERED on him, cause there were so many other characters I wanted to develope. So thats what I’m doing.))

OK, Rihanna! We See Your New Fenty Drop and Raise You 4 Outfits With 'Tude
Exaggerated shoulders, nipped waists, extra-long sleeves, and structured silhouettes are hallmarks of Fenty, Rihanna's luxury clothing line with LVMH, and the singer-designer's newest drop is no exception. Shifting from a focus on casual-luxe eveningwear to daytime essentials with attitude, the just-launched 2-20 collection completely channels Rihanna's signature aesthetic, which is often an amalgamation of sexy, sporty, and opulent at once.
The sports-luxe vibe of Fenty's 2-20 collection is punctuated by oversize trench coats with utilitarian details, hoodie-slip dress hybrids (which are genius), and cargo-pocketed pants and minis. Also involved? Sweaters that appear both slouchy and architectural by way of cool cutouts, low-slung jeans made from Japanese denim and finished with slits at the hems, and ribbed sweater-and-jogger sets as a reimagined take on the tracksuit. The 2-20 collection also introduces a hiker boot - the Hitch - and rainbow plexi "Side Note" sunglasses for 20-Fenty vision.
What this all boils down to? Totally wearable though undeniably statement-making pieces that are right on for channeling Rihanna's badgal mood. Even better, if you don't typically stan said aeshtetic, there are plenty of pieces that translate to a range of tastes from the tailored cargo pants to the luxe knitwear and Fenty's now-signature corset dress.
To prove how versatile Rihanna's new Fenty 2-20 collection is, see how four POPSUGAR fashion editors took their favorite pieces for a spin ahead of the launch. From minimalist-leaning looks to streetwear-inspired styling, you'll quickly learn how easy it is to infuse a bit of Rihanna attitude into your own wardrobe.

Meet Lauren, Who What Wear's fashion editor  and the co-founder of The Devils Wear Zara . Lauren is so obsessed with Zara that we started calling her  the Zara Scout . Now she's turning the nickname into a franchise so she can regularly share her insider knowledge of the brand, including all her hacks, secrets, and must-haves with you. We often talk about trends as if they are easy to pull off so long as you buy the right things. While that sentiment is not wrong, we often ignore how wearing certain trends will make you feel . Trends like animal print and statement sweaters are typically no-brainers when it comes to styles we're willing to try, but throw something like neon and slime green  into the mix, and suddenly we're not feeling so confident. Assuming you probably feel some type of way as well, we did what we do best—went to Zara and tried on all these weird trends so you don't have to . As you probably know, we view Zara as the best place to test out rising trends for the clothes are affordable and they churn out new trends at the speed of light. Here, Mimi and I will walk you through our semi-traumatic Zara dressing room experiences coming at you all the way from L.A. and NY and show you which pieces we actually ended up falling in love with. "I've been really nervous to buy into the neon trend, so I'd rather test the water with more affordable pieces first. This neon corduroy 'shacket (shirt + jacket) was honestly so cool. It would look good over a black turtleneck, tied around your waist, or buttoned all the way up as its own shirt. Even though it was nearly blinding, this piece was surprisingly wearable."  "Thanks to Man Repeller's Harling Ross, there's a new outfit phenomenon going around that she so cleverly coined as the 'stick of butter' look. Into it. I feel like the neutral monochromatic vibe just elevates your look. This sweater has super-oversize sleeves, but the pants dress it up a bit. I'm okay with looking like food, I guess." "For some reason, I'm always attracted to clothes that look like the Grinch's body, and this green fleece coat was no exception. Soft to the touch and incredibly warm, I say why not opt for this weird color instead of the camels and blacks that everyone usually chooses when it comes to this coat style?"  "People will either think this hoodie is dope as hell or totally heinous. Honestly, I wasn't sure what side I was on until I tried it on. It has that perfect oversize feel you want with a hooded sweatshirt. Yes, the denim-hybrid look is a little weird but I feel like it could get compliments (maybe). It's one of those things you'll probably reach for every weekend because it's so comfy." "And here it is from the front." "I saw this online and thought it was cute but might be too much with all of the trends going on (PVC, chain link strap). I was wrong. Perfect mini bucket bag and would go with pretty much any look. Looks like something you'd want to Instagram IMO." "Suiting as a trend has been around for a while. To some, it may not seem exactly controversial, but the truth is that most people like the idea of wearing a suit more than they actually like wearing a suit. One of those people is definitely me. I see women wearing tailored suits of all kinds all over Instagram and beyond, but whenever I try one on in the store, I feel like I look so lame. "This skirt suit from Zara was honestly the first time I felt cool wearing a suit. The blazer is unique in that it is collarless with boxy shoulders and the miniskirt fits just right with a high-rise waist, belt loops, and pockets." "I also tried the blazer on with my jeans and black long-sleeve shirt I was wearing while shopping to see if it looked good all alone, and it does. In other words, my friends and co-workers will be seeing a lot of these two pieces in the coming weeks." + Zara A-Line Mini Skirt ($50) "Another perfectly oversize sweatshirt. I feel like this is the tie-dye trend for beginners—it's not too crazy because it's pretty neutral based. Could wear with a skirt, jeans, over a dress… the list goes on." "Tie-dye is really cool and can be really easy to wear if you buy the right pieces. Clearly, Mimi and I love oversize shirts and oversize anything that kind of makes us look like punk skater girls even though we could not be farther from that aesthetic. I digress. This shirt was soft and the ombre effect on the tie-dye really stands out. So I bought it." I paired it with these silk cargo pants that have pockets and snap closures at the ankles. It's hard to see in this pic, but they are legit (and only $40, fam). This is an outfit I will be wearing on repeat.  "With the right hair and makeup, I could look like an extra in a Tim Burton film in this. Since my life is not a movie, I will prob style this with combat boots and a denim jacket around my waist. Shouts to Zara for making outfits very easy with the two-piece sets these days." + Zara Striped Skirt With Buttons ($30) Next up, shop the 11 designer handbags fashion girls are buying in 2019 .

12 Modern Trouser Styles All Men Should Own
Statement jackets and the latest sneakers are always going to be top of men’s lust lists, but don’t let high-wattage clobber blind you to the essentials. The right pair of trousers can be the most quietly powerful item you wear, but get it wrong and you’ll instantly dull the shine of the trending pieces you spent so long chasing.Yes, it’s easy to simply plump for your tried-and-tested slim-fit black jeans for the umpteenth time, but there’s a whole wardrobe full of top-notch trews that’ll look just as slick given half the chance. Here are some of the unsung trouser styles that you might not have considered, but definitely should.Corduroy TrousersOnce strictly the preserve of fictional (and real) inhabitants of academia, corduroy is one of the most underutilised materials in men’s style and, if worn correctly, can make for an indispensable pair of trousers. There’s a 1970s revival going on in menswear, too, so there’s never been a better time to cover your legs in cord.Cord is a textile composed of woven, twisted cotton or wool, resulting in parallel lines (called ‘wales’). Wool corduroy is the most durable type and wears particularly well. So, as well as bestowing a bit of superficial intelligence, cord trousers will withstand a fair bit of rough and tumble. The Indiana Jones of legwear, if you will. They can get a bit warm, though, so it’s best to save them for when the cold really starts to bite.Contrary to its sometimes stuffy connotations, corduroy is brilliant when dressed down and worn casually. Try teaming a pair of dark corduroy trousers with a sweatshirt and practical leather sneakers to signpost that you’re not actually a fellow at Oxbridge. This stripey fabric also does an excellent job of adding a touch of personality to more formal attire. A slim-cut corduroy suit will make an excellent companion for a light-gauge roll neck and monk-strap shoes come party season. Swerve the shirt and tie, though – Doctor Who has rendered that combo unwearable everywhere outside of Comic Con.Key PiecesWool TrousersA firm favourite of fashion bloggers (the kind who don’t dress like anime astronauts, that is) and art directors the world over, wool trousers offer a throwback to the days when jeans weren’t the de facto king of legwear.Perfect both for styling with other tailored separates or smartening a casual getup, wool trousers have been a mainstay amongst industry insiders for years – and their popularity isn’t showing any signs of waning. While you’ll often see them dressed down with a pair of sneakers by arbiters of cool hanging outside loft offices leisurely puffing on roll-ups, they work just as well styled in a more traditional way. For inspiration, cast your eye to Pitti Uomo where they’re often grounded with a pair of brogues, Derbies or double monks.Key PiecesTwill ChinosA good piece of workwear puts in a shift if you want to assert your old-school masculine credentials. In twill chinos, quality craftsmanship meets reliability and style in a perfect ménage à trews of cool that’s still exceptionally wearable.Cut from heavyweight cotton, woven to create a surface comprising diagonal parallel ridges, twill is a traditional material that, if invested in, will give excellent cost-per-wear calculations thanks to its hardy nature.Plus, every scuff on a pair of twill chinos tells a story – even if the only ‘work’ you end up doing in them is loafing about on Twitter. In twill the beleaguered chino also breaks out of the realm of ‘Ibiza lads on tour’ into an altogether more grown-up sense of place and tradition. The style is still, strictly speaking, a casual trouser so wear them with an easy-going pair of shoes (such as anything with a contrast Vibram sole), a T-shirt or piece of knitwear and top with an overshirt or denim jacket for an effortlessly cool off-duty look.Key PiecesRelaxed-Legged TrousersThe skinny jeans backlash is officially on. Tired of indecently outlined genitalia and trying (and failing) to remove our skinnies with dignity after a night out, relaxed-legged jeans and trousers are looking more and more appealing by the day.Harking back to 1950s-inspired garments, the Levi’s 501 cut is firmly back on the radar of menswear’s most stylish and the model has brought its mates along for the ride, too. While they are perfect for providing a platform for a standout piece of footwear, looser-cut chinos and trousers need to break perfectly. Too long and they’ll look like the floor-dragging bootcuts, too high and you’ll look like you’re wearing three-quarter lengths. The main objective is to avoid a pooling situation, so we’d suggest aiming for the hem to fall somewhere between the top of your shoe and its first set of eyelets. When it comes to styling, contrast the extra fabric below by keeping your top half fitted to avoid any accusations that you’ve been playing dress up in your dad’s wardrobe.Key PiecesLinen TrousersNot so long ago, linen trousers were sweaty, misshapen bloomers that had no place in a modern man’s wardrobe. Thankfully designers have done a lot of work to rehabilitate them in recent years. Gone are the shapeless cuts, replaced by tapered, modern leg-lines that flatter every body shape. And linen blends make them a lot more practical, less prone to impossible creases – while still being as breezy as ever.Try them as part of a linen suit for a dapper old-timer vibe, but the more modern way to wear them is cropped, with sneakers and a plain T-shirt.Key PiecesDrawstring TrousersWithout wishing to be overdramatic, smart drawstring trousers are the best thing to happen to menswear in a decade. Until recently, drawstrings and elasticated waistbands were confined to sportswear and generally considered to be a sign that you didn’t care. That’s stupid, of course. What a revelation it’s been to sit down for a large plate of pasta and not feel like your trousers might slice you in half by the meal’s end. These days, drawstring trousers come tailored and in a lot more materials than jersey. Wool and linen offer the best options at the smarter end of the spectrum. Once you’ve felt how comfortable your dressed-up wardrobe can be, you’ll never go back.Key PiecesSlimline JoggersThere have been some excellent hybrids over the years: the shacket, the snood, er, Kimye, but none boast as much staying power as athleisure, which is a rare example of fashion and function joining forces for the greater good. The sports-luxe movement is still a draw Stateside, and while UK labels took slightly longer to catch up, young Brits have taken the look to their hearts. Combining the “it feels like I’m wearing nothing at all” comfort of joggers with the slim-fit of a more contemporary work trouser, they’re equally at home in the pub or the gym. While there could be an argument made for the right jogger matched with the right overshirt, we’d suggest keeping the streetwear vibe going with a logo T-shirt from the likes of Palace, Stussy or Undefeated, a low-profile lifestyle runner on the foot and a slightly smarter bomber jacket. If you’re not on a streetwear flex, step into some box-fresh white lace-up trainers and stick on an (impeccably ironed) Oxford shirt to inject some sharpness into the look.Key PiecesCropped TrousersAnkle swingers, as some want to call them, are here to stay – and with good reason. Allowing your ankles to breathe in summer while still giving airtime to your footwear in cooler months, cropped trousers are a great way to spice up what can be a tired formal outfit. Disclaimer: by cropped trousers, we mean shorter than your average, displaying a sliver of ankle or sock, not to be mistaken with pantaloons. In addition to giving your footwear a platform to shine, a precise crop accentuates the line of your trews – because there’s nothing worse than puddling material at the bottom of your ankle. Getting the length right is crucial, though. Unless they fit perfectly off-the-peg, go to a tailor and take their advice, but if you’re feeling braver, anything up to three or four inches above the ankle is a safe bet.Cropped trousers lend themselves well to both formal and off-duty settings, though you’re undoubtedly in safer territory with the former. Cropped chinos in a sand colour will work well with a simple white shirt, premium suede bomber and white sports-luxe trainers on the weekend. Meanwhile, for more formal occasions, black cropped trousers worn with a grey blazer, charcoal roll neck and oxblood dress shoes is ideal for a relaxed business-casual office.Key PiecesCargo PantsCargo trousers have enjoyed something of a potted history, going from army essential to early noughties oversized monstrosity. Now, enough time has passed that things have calmed down a bit and they’re back in a big (and much more stylish) way.The key to getting cargo trousers right is ensuring that they hit the middle ground between slim and spacious, so think tailored. Sure, you can technically fill their big ol’ pockets to the brim, but in this case clean lines trump practicality, so leave them empty.Standard-issue khaki green pairs well with just about anything in navy so consider an overshirt (another workwear workhorse) for a weekend look that grafts. Meanwhile, if light layers aren’t an option, a pair of contemporary black cargo trousers can be recruited alongside a white Oxford shirt, grey sweatshirt, navy overcoat for a look that passes inspection.High-Waisted TrousersUsing your nipples as a marker to align the waistband of your trousers to used to be a dead giveaway that you were either A: 90+ years of age, or B: Simon Cowell. Today, however, it’s much more likely to signify that you’re the type of gent who frequents Pitti Uomo and owns more than one set of cufflinks. High-waisted trousers are quite literally on the rise. And while a well-styled pair can be a one way ticket to sartorial nirvana, get them wrong and you’ll look like a kid playing dress up in his dad’s suit. The key to hitting the sweet spot lies in nailing the length and the cut. If you’re going for a wide-leg style a cropped fit ensures you’re not drowning in fabric. Conversely, if mankles aren’t your thing, a tapered cut will allow the leg openings of the trousers to sit nicely with your chosen footwear.High-waisted trousers may be tailoring technically speaking, but they’re still super relaxed and the rest of your outfit should follow ‘suit’. Up top, opt for either a fitted polo or a loose T-shirt, tucked into the waistband. You can layer this with a matching unstructured jacket and even a wool overcoat when the mercury plummets. Footwear wise, try mixing things up a bit with a canvas high-top or a suede desert boot.Pleated TrousersAs trousers make their way way back up to men’s natural waistlines once again, a long-forgotten tailoring detail is being thrust back into the fashion spotlight. The pleat was not long ago a style detail reserved for your grandad. A quirk chosen for its comfort rather than its aesthetics and frowned upon by those in the know. However, here in this age of smart joggers and oversized tailoring, comfort is no longer a dirty word. Pleated pants are back in style and now is the time to introduce them to your wardrobe. When you’ve spent the last 10 years forcing your legs into jeans akin to sausage casing, the idea of playing with less fitted silhouettes can seem a bit daunting. The trick here is to strike that balance between fitted and airy. Your trousers should be breezy and comfortable, but you shouldn’t have clown-style pools of fabric obscuring your shoes. Opt for a tapered cut for best results and selecting a cropped style is never a bad idea either. In terms of styling, stick to relaxed tailoring in the jacket department, layered over a white tee. A tucked-in Cuban collar shirt can work nicely too. For the footwear stick to Derby boots, brogues or, if you’re feeling adventurous, white canvas trainers.Tracksuit BottomsWhen sporty slacks first began making their way off the running track and onto the runway, the long-time suited and booted menswear crowd shared a quiet sigh of relief. Finally there was a way to look put together in something that offered a level of comfort comparable to pyjamas. It was the break everyone had been looking for and couldn’t have been more welcome. There’s a wealth of variety when it comes to tracksuit bottoms. You can opt for a side-stripe trouser style and pair them with tailoring. Or alternatively, you can go full nylon and go for that 90s, head-to-toe vibe. Whichever you pick, go for a slim cut and if the cuffs aren’t elasticated then opt for a slightly cropped leg.Traditionally, tracksuit bottoms have always been best off paired with sportswear. To wear a pair with brogues would’ve been a style crime of unspeakable proportions. Today, however, things are different. A cropped side-stripe trouser can be paired with a smarter shoe just as effectively as it can with a luxe trainer. Throw on a plain tee and a bomber and you’re good to go.If you want to keep things more street then go for the full nylon tracksuit and wear it with chunky trainers and a dad cap. Source link

Road tested: Gear from uglyBROS, Velomacchi and 1Self
This month, Wes and Matt check out two new additions to Velomacchi’s range of moto luggage, discover a surprisingly good kangaroo leather jacket from a new Australian brand, and road test the Kevlar version of the famous uglyBROS Motorpool jeans.
1Self Gear Genesys Jacket Wes: Headquartered in Australia but manufactured in Thailand, 1Self Gear is a young apparel company that has come out the gate swinging. Their flagship jacket—the Genesys—costs US$795, pitching it against offerings from premium brands like Roland Sands Design and Lewis Leathers. But the spec list is primo.
The chassis is 1.0 – 1.2 mm full grain kangaroo leather, with sections of additional abrasion resistant fabric, Kevlar-backed stretch panels, and a full complement of Knox armor. (Like several other high-end apparel makers, 1Self reckon that kangaroo offers the best mix of light weight and good protection.)
The jacket’s been enhanced with various treatments, like weatherproofing and abrasion resistance-boosting tech (there’s a full breakdown worth checking out here).
It’s also drop dead gorgeous, with an aesthetic that lands somewhere between sporty and stealthy. Details include tough YKK zippers, a small zipper latch at the top, accordion panels for mobility, and a white leather 1Self logo stitched onto the arm. You also get a moisture wicking liner, with two internal and two external pockets, and waist adjusters to fine-tune fit.
The Genesys is so beautiful, when 1Self accidentally sent me the wrong size I was gutted that it didn’t fit. They offered to send out a new jacket, but instead I tearfully handed the Genesys over to a friend of mine, to get his input.
On feel “It feels soft and super comfy out the box, and didn’t need too much wearing in to be comfortable. The leather’s already softened more since the beginning, and I think it’ll just get better. Weight wise, I like the fact that it feels substantial, but it’s not overly heavy.”
On fit “It fits extremely well—more ‘ergonomic’ than other jackets I’ve worn. It’s snug where you need it, with the paneling making it feel molded to your body. On the bike, there’s more than enough mobility and comfort, and the slightly longer tail’s great for hiding the inherent riding crack. The stretch panels do let some air in, which might get chilly in winter—but they’re great for hot Cape Town summer days.”
On design “I love the simplistic yet practical design. Function was obviously the driving force here, but none of the form has been lost. There’s a lot of great detail too, if you look closely—like the soft fabric panel on the back of the neck, which adds some comfort.”
Both of us noted that the general quality of the Genesys is top-shelf, but we did spot one small bit of stitching that was coming undone. I raised this with 1Self, and they assured me that they ship each jacket with a one-year warranty against defects (and that they’ll be following this up with their factory).
1Self ships anywhere in the world for free, but it’ll take about four weeks for the Genesys to reach you, because each jacket is made to order. And if you want to spend a little less, you can get the US$695 Genesys V2, which substitutes kangaroo for Nappa leather. [Buy]
uglyBROS USA Motorpool Kevlar Matt: When I first reviewed the Motorpools, I was impressed with the fit, finish and fashion-forward approach uglyBROS had taken with rider protection.
The CE-rated padding at the hips worked without giving me an hourglass shape. And the ability to slide the armor out of the external knee pockets made them an easy option for casual days at the office, or running errands around town. On top of that, flexible fabric made them as comfortable as all that “athleisure” stuff that’s on fleek with the kids these days.
One thing the original Motorpools don’t excel at, though, is abrasion resistance. The 11oz. denim is tough, but it isn’t designed to slide. And after a low speed crash on a dirt road, a spinning knobby rear tire tore the right leg on my pair.
To their credit, uglyBROS stepped up immediately and couriered out a fresh panel to be sewn in, and my Motorpools were as good as new. But if you’d rather not suffer the indignity of naked flesh on your ride back to camp—or worse, having that Koi fish tattoo on your leg erased by asphalt—check out the new Kevlar-lined Motorpools.
Dubbed the Motorpool-K, a Dupont Kevlar liner has been stitched into the seat and thighs, and continues down the length of each leg to just below the knees—essentially covering all the fleshiest bits most likely to need that extra protection.
With that skin-saving fabric in place, the slim fit of the Motorpool-K’s gets a touch cozier but there’s no need to size up. The flexibility of the originals remains intact, so any initial snugness fades after the first couple of miles. In fact, now they feel the same on my lowers as the originals, whether out riding or not.
The only time you become acutely aware of the new addition is during hot weather. The extra layer of fabric can make things a touch warmer during the dog days of summer—but really, this is a tedious point since the protection levels increase exponentially.
Other changes to the Motorpool-K include the swapping of buttons for metal snaps on the cargo and rear pockets. This makes getting into and closing the flaps infinitely easier, especially with a gloved hand, and is worth the $30 surcharge alone, IMHO. Sure, the metal will turn into a branding iron during any extended slides but the snaps all fall well within the Kevlar’s coverage range.
If you’ve been on the fence about the Motorpools because of concerns about abrasion resistance, the Motorpool-K’s are the model for you. They’re an incredibly comfortable set of strides that blend into the urban aesthetic and now, tick all of the protection boxes too. [Buy]
Velomacchi Extended Carry Packs Wes and Matt are both huge fans of Velomacchi’s gear. But both agree that the 28L Speedway roll-top backpack is a daypack only. The Oregonian brand now offers a couple of extra options for more hefty carry, and the boys have put each bag through its paces.
Velomacchi Speedway Backpack 40L Matt: If you don’t need the capaciousness of Velomacchi’s big 50L duffel but find the 28L a smidge cramped, this new 40L version should be on your radar. Like everything else in the ‘Speedway’ line, the 40L duffel is constructed from rugged and weather resistant 1000D Cordura fabric—and encapsulates your vital belongings in a completely watertight cocoon.
Despite its added size, the 40L version still fits incredibly well on and off the bike, thanks to Velomacchi’s 3-point harness system. The oh-so-cool Iron Man-esque magnetic closure is carried over from the 28L version and makes unloading at your destination a cinch.
But this time around, you get a highly usable secondary, watertight front pocket. And elasticized panels integrated into this pocket make it easy to secure smaller items like phone cables, portable charging stations or a set of tools for a trailside repair.
This is the bag I wish Velomacchi had debuted with: it offers up all of the storage space I need for my daily 9-5 life, and works incredibly well to schlep clothing, computer and camera gear whenever I’m on assignment. And, if you’d rather not ride with a pack on your shoulders, there are tie down loops to allow the 40L to function as a tailbag too. [Buy]
Velomacchi 50L Speedway Hybrid Travel Duffle Wes: Velomacchi call this “the ultimate watertight ADV duffle,” and they’re not far off. With a total capacity of 50 liters (42 in the main compartment, and four in each of the two side pockets), the Speedway Duffle (above) is designed as an all-purpose stuff-and-go pack.
It’s made from the same 1000D fabric as the rest of their bags, with a fully waterproof main compartment. (I’ve tested it, and it really is waterproof.) The main zip is heavy duty, with a chunky anchor on the end to get your fingers around, and stretch panels to help you close it when you’ve over-packed.
Features include a hidden pocket with a small lanyard for securing keys, and two compression straps running over the top. They tighten via a system that uses sliding buckles, and leaves no tailing straps. The base of the duffle is a heavy-duty quilted affair, so you can bet it’ll stand up to abuse.
The side pockets fasten with elasticated toggle closures, which I find a bit fiddly. To be honest, I would have loved this pack without the side pockets, as they tend to billow when empty and take up precious space when you’re loading the bike.
But it’s the versatility of the Speedway Duffle that has me hooked. Behind the side pockets are hidden compartments that stow a pair of carry handles. And behind the hefty base panel are backpack straps. It takes a couple of minutes to set them up, but once you’re done the pack actually functions surprisingly well as a backpack.
That’s mostly because those straps have the same rotating clavicle hinges as their bona fide backpacks. And Velomacchi also include size markings on the straps—so if you know what works for you, setting the pack up second time around is quicker. There’s also a sternum strap with a magnetic closure.
The Speedway Duffle’s also designed to mount to the back of your bike. Velomacchi include four tie-down straps—each with an aluminum buckle that hooks into a corresponding nylon loop at the base of the pack. It takes a little while to set up but once that’s done, it’s a neat and effective system.
The nylon loops are tough, so you can tie it down tight. And even though it felt like I could shift it around a bit with of force, it seemed to stay put on the road—provided I packed and mounted it in a balanced way.
My biggest gripe? With all these carry options, I would have liked a shoulder strap too. But I’ve already used the Speedway Duffle on the back of a bike through the Bavarian alps, on family weekends, and as a backpack on a small local airline with lenient carry on restrictions. Recommended. [Buy]
