Miss World Philippines 2021 airs on GMA Network this Sunday

THIS Sunday (October 10) on GMA Network, witness the prestigious and historic journey of Cebu City’s Tracy Maureen Perez to her well-deserved crown at the Miss World Philippines 2021.

Forty-five candidates armed with their grit and grace vied for the crown and only seven emerged victorious. Alongside Perez were Emmanuelle Vera as Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas, Kathleen Paton as Miss Eco Philippines, Tatyana Austria as Miss Eco Teen Philippines, Shaila Rebortera as Miss Multinational Philippines, Tricia Martinez as Miss Tourism Philippines, and Michelle Arceo as Miss Environment Philippines.

Kapuso actress and I Left My Heart in Sorsogon star Michelle Dee also took her final walk and bid farewell to her reign as Miss World Philippines 2019.

Despite the global pandemic, the Miss World Philippines (MWP) organization finally resumed its annual festivity and inspires the nation to celebrate and be grateful for the simple joys we are receiving while battling COVID-19.

Making the event more remarkable were coronation hosts Xian Lim, RJ Ledesma, Winwyn Marquez, Alyssa Muhlach, and Thia Thomalla, together with guest performers Geneva Cruz and RJ Agustin.

The roster of judges were First Vice President for Program Management Department Jose Mari R. Abacan, Kapuso stars Anna Vicente and David Licauco, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Senator Bong Revilla, Senator Miguel Zubiri, Celeste Reyes, Genevieve Christine Montano, Renato Lee, Mitos Magsaysay, Elisse Joson, Albert Kurniawan, Teejay Marquez, Aldwin Alegre, and Mika Atayde.

Love of My Life: The Country's Number 1 Family Drama

Family drama is back on primetime with Love Of My Life.

Love Of My Life revolves around the Gonzales family. Isabella (Coney), the matriarch, is a rich widow with high standards who will do what’s best for her family. Nikolai (Mikael), her youngest son, becomes a rebellious man after causing a traumatic family accident which led to the death of his father. Stefano (Tom), her favorite son, is an architect who is the father of the child of Kelly (Rhian), his vengeful ex-girlfriend. Stefano’s life changes for the better when he crosses paths with Adelle (Carla), a widow with a child who manages her own handicraft business. Despite Isabella’s objection towards their relationship, Stefano and Adelle do everything to build a normal family. Their perfect life starts falling apart not only when Kelly and Nikolai starts living with them, but also when Stefano gets diagnosed with a terminal illness. It remains to be seen if Adelle, Kelly, Nikolai, and Isabella adapt to their unusual set-up, living inside one house for Stefano.

From the beginning, The show garnered high ratings compared to ABS-CBN's A Soldier's Heart then I Am U making the Number 1 Family Drama on Primetime.

In the wake of President Rodrigo Duterte's declaration of Community Quarantine against COVID-19 (Corona Virus), This Show alongside Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit, Prima Donnas, Magkaagaw, Descendants of the Sun PH and Anak Ni Waray vs Anak ni Biday temporarily stopped taping as well as productions.

(UPDATE: The series is now airing recap episodes as of Dec. 28, and will air fresh episodes by January once all recap episodes are finished, and the said series have undergone lock-in tapings to ensure safety among all those involved in the series and to prevent COVID19.)

I got a bad faith Snooter in my inbox that I'm not going to respond directly to, but I want to address something they said.

It was filled with the usual BS: that I haven't played Snoot (I have), claiming Fang is not nonbinary (they are, and that was twisted in them being "confused cis girl" in Snoot), that being trans/nb is a phase teenagers pass through (it's not), and a pithy reminder about Kate Grey (she was fired and stripped of her writing credit).

But the very end, they accused Goodbye Volcano High of having no Latina/Mexicana representation. Except that's not true. Rosa is a prominent character in the game, she's a Latina woman, and her design and various outfits were overseen by a Latine member of the staff. The same character appears in Snoot Game too, and Rosa is a favorite among the Spanish-speaking fandom.

So... what changed?

In Goodbye Volcano High, Rosa is a transgender woman. And she's voiced by Dee Revilla, a Latina trans woman.

I've been learning abut how many Spanish-speaking countries lean more towards conservatism regarding gender and sexuality, and that aligns with Rosa's own story - that being a trans woman and growing up away from her homeland has created a cultural rift between her and the rest of her family that she's struggling to overcome.

So when this Anon claims that GVH has "no Latina/Mexicana representation", I can only interpret that in one of two ways: either they're misgendering Rosa, or they're stripping her of her culture as a punishment for being trans. And both of these possibilities are fucked up and disgusting to me.

If this is the general attitude towards trans/nonbinary people in Latin America, I'm starting to see why Snoot Game - a game that celebrates "fixing" Fang into being cis - is so popular there.

Rosa is a trans woman? I didn't see this confirmed! Aside from her and Fang, does anyone else have any stated identities (even just Queer), I enjoy working on the lgbtqia characters wiki and I'd love to add more characters than just Fang! (but I've only seen citations for them so far)

Yes! It's hinted at early on at first. If you're nice to Rosa consistently, you'll unlock a flashback of her talking privately with Sage. It's outright revealed later when Fang talks to Rosa during the bonfire scene. Also, she's voiced by Dee Revilla, a Latina trans woman!

And on the topic: Sage is a trans man! He's voiced by Jensen Trani, a trans man. There's even a scene where he and Fang talk about their shared struggles with gender expression.

It's so rare to see games with such outward and positive trans representation, I'm so happy. 💖🏳️‍⚧️

They supply grapes to notorious liquor tycoon Martina (Isabel) and Ramon (Dante). Nolie (Mylene), the daughter of Cedes and Damian, is secretly in a relationship with Anselmo (Zoren), the son of Martina and Ramon. When Martina grows greedy, she orders the plantation to be burned down since the farmers oppose to sell their land, resulting to the death of Damian. Later on, Cedes accidentally kills Ramon. Nolie finds out that she is also carrying Anselmo’s child, Maggie (Kyline). Years passed, their paths will cross once again when Maggie meets Jun (Yasser), the son of Anselmo with Margaux (Ina), and falls in love with him. Meanwhile, Cedes starts a new life anew with her newfound identity alongside Nolie, who will plots her revenge against Anselmo.
