An ‘Old Fashioned’ Father’s Day
This post is sponsored by BabbleBox.com on behalf of DeKuyper Cordials.
Like everything in 2020, your Father’s Day celebration is probably going to look a bit different this year. Normally, my daughter and I would plan a day out in the city, filled with sightseeing, people watching, and restaurant hopping to celebrate my husband and the wonderful father he is. But since we can’t do any of that this year, I am opting for a creative at-home option.  In collaboration with of DeKuyper Cordials, I am setting up a fun Old Fashioned cocktail and snack bar to spoil the special dad in our lives.
My husband is a dedicated healthcare worker. Given the nature of his job, this year has been a particularly stressful one. While the rest of the world was hunkering down at home, he was putting on his scrubs and heading to the hospital. Every day has been filled with uncertainty. I have witnessed him face fear head-on and work tirelessly to keep our little family safe from harm. And although (like most families right now) times are financially tough, I still want to ensure that he has a relaxing and unique Father’s Day celebration at home. So once our little munchkin is tucked in to bed, I am planning to set up an Old Fashioned cocktail and snack bar to spoil him. It’s a deceptively simple station to put together, so here’s how you can recreate it at home...
Old Fashioned Cocktail & Snack Bar
INGREDIENTS:
DeKuyper® Classic Ol’ Fashion Liqueur
Bourbon (recommend: Jim Beam Black Extra-Aged Bourbon)
Tumbler Glasses
Bar spoon
Jigger
Bar snacks
Orange peels
Ice
DIRECTIONS:
Mix up some Old Fashioneds! Add 1 part DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion Liqueur and 2 parts bourbon using the jigger over ice in a tumbler glass. Stir with the bar spoon and garnish with an orange peel.
Place out easy-to-munch bar snacks. I recommend fancy caramel corn mixed with nuts.
Cheers to dad and all the lovely ways he has evolved since becoming a father.
If you’re new to the at-home mixology game, then mixing with DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion liqueur is a wonderful place to start. It takes all the effort out of creating a classic Old Fashioned cocktail, ensuring a perfect drink every time. Instead of having to go through a multi-step process, the liqueur breaks it down to just two. First, you add 1 part of DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion Liqueur to the glass.
Second, you add 2 parts bourbon… and that is it, my friends! Take a look at how easy we whipped these drinks together…
Cocktail magic in a bottle! The new DeKuyper 30 proof bottle is available in stores nationwide or online at Drizly and Reserve Bar (ARV $12.99/750ml bottle).
Just in case you need a bit more visual direction for mixing this cocktail at home, check out this two-step tutorial from DeKuyper bartender, Amy Probasco!

As an optional extra, have Dad’s favorite super hero movie queued and ready to stream… yes, it’ll be filled with horribly long action sequences and terribly cheesy acting, but he’ll love it! Make sure to pick up DeKuyper Classic Ol’ Fashion here and add it to your bar for quality ingredients and easy cocktail making. Also check out the brand’s other at-home entertaining ideas. So tell me, what is your favorite setting to enjoy a classic Old Fashioned cocktail?
